AC6 is such a wonderful emotional experience. The whole game for your first playthrough is heehee hoohoo look at all these cool characters!!! Are they all so fun and quirky and unique and interesting???

I vividly remember fighting back tears for the whole ending arc of Fires of Raven. I lost so many friends, some at my own hands. I didn't know. I didn't know it would come to this. Im so sorry, everyone. By the time i realized the path i was on, it was too late to save any of you.

Then you do it all again in NG+. Try to be better, make more thoughtful decisions, and fight the right people. Only to find you're still pointing your guns at the people you love.

So you go again, numb to the loss but still desperate for another way.

Only this time, you truly lose everyone. No one you care about survives the Coral Release.

But maybe it's for the best. Maybe you could push forward and build something new on the bones of everyone you sacrificed.

Empire of Death and Adoption: A RANT

You know what? I'm not over it. I don't think I'm ever gonna be over it.

I (semi-jokingly) said after Yaz was ignored and the complicated relationship Thirteen had with gender was boiled down and ignored to two or three flippant mentions of it in The Star Beast where the Doctor seemed to have NO understanding of the complexities of gender that it seemed that Rusty had not seen Thirteen's era. That he had read a summary of events and rolled with it.

Now, after the way that adoption was treated in Empire Death, I'm dead fucking certain that he didn't. And that if he did, he didn't understand the emotional core of those stories.

As someone who is adopted, I'm gonna be honest. I'm pissed with the way that it was handled in Empire of Death after how it was handled in the Timeless Child arc. Now, I'm not some consummate Timeless Child defender or anything, I still have mixed feelings about the twist, but the way that it was handled by the Doctor I really did like. The way that the Doctor had questions and wanted to know the truth about herself and was furious that she had been lied to but that after thinking about it and figuring herself out a bit, put aside the fob watch with her memories aside because what mattered, what had always mattered, was what she made of herself. What the Doctor had always made of themself, the family that they built, patchwork and broken but still so desperately, fiercely loved.

And then in Empire of Death it's all about Ruby finding her "real mom." Not her bio mom. Her real mom. And it fucking spat in the face of not just the Timeless Child arc but every found family theme echoed throughout Doctor Who before it. Sarah Jane telling the Doctor that he had the biggest family in the world. The Doctor's "fam." Every moment where the Doctor's family became these humans and their short, beautiful lives and the family that they made for themself.

You can have multiple real parents. I have an adoptive parent and step-parents and a mom who both birthed and raised me and all of these people are real parents. All of them matter because they all make me me.

Get the fuck out of here with that reductive "real parent is bio parent" bullshit, AND CALLING CARLA HER FOSTER MUM INSTEAD OF HER ADOPTIVE MOM EVEN THOUGH SHE IS ADOPTED, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT REDUCES HER BLACK ADOPTIVE MOTHER BENEATH HER WHITE BIOLOGICAL MOTHER, TELL ME YOU DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE THEMES OF THE DOT AND BUBBLE EPISODE YOU SAID YOU CARED ABOUT RUSTY.

i feel like a lot of people are being way too harsh on taffy as a character i've seen people calling her fake, selfish, etc. and while i do agree with the selfish bit considering the debacle with michael. however, taffy is NOT fake. she only follows the looks of the stereotype of a fake cheerleader who treats the outcast like a pet but id argue that she's one of the ONLY people in the movie that doesn't infantalize lisa (ill speak more on that in another post)

she takes care of her yes but exactly how a sister would (or at least my idea of a sister i only have brothers) she goes through efforts to bond with lisa and invite her into her circle despite her friends obvious dislike of her.

taffy's love and care for lisa while misguided because of the mother she had was still very real nonetheless. the instances of her standing up to her mother for lisa proves that.

taffy was good to lisa despite their short time together and their circumstances. she's a product of her environment and still shines bright despite of that. she's well liked in her community for a reason after all.

i think some part of my brain that doesnt talk to most of it has been thinking about @destiny-in-the-universe 's project zero because it keeps coming up and whenever it does, i get the idea of "what if YOU did a multifandom ask blog except its worse and not as badass and more of just a chill thing" and i WANT to but not without destiny's permission because i dont wanna feel like im really copying them??? like honestly thats why i @'d them instead of just saying their name, i feel better about casually doing that rather than doing it in its own message because it feels kinda awkward????????

like idk i enjoyed the whole ask blog thing but two of them are completely inactive and i dont know what to do with the howard one?? (which has been renamed because of the older and superior howard blog) so seeing project zero just triggered a part of my brain like "oh, if you had one like that, then maybe you'd get more traction because more fandoms?!?!?"

The soft sigh she let out would have come across as exasperated to some, yet those who had come to know her well would see the touch of a smile and the warmth in her eyes. She watched Wendy fall deeper into sleep, marvelling at the way the girl could rest on the floor as she was. Even with the pile of blankets they’d amassed for their ‘movie night’, it wasn’t particularly comfortable on the floor of the lounge.

Charle suppressed a yawn and eyed the movie Lacrima that continued to play softly. Would Wendy wake up if it was turned off? Perhaps she’d wait a few minutes more, just to be sure it was safe. Wendy deserved a good rest, after all. They’d had quite a day of travelling, finally returning home after an extended mission together. Tiring as it had been, it was…nice to not be involved in some world threatening danger for a change. Did they dare get used to it? She supposed she could channel her prophetic powers if she really wanted to know…But the future was too fluid, she knew, nothing could really be certain.

What she did know for sure, was that Wendy would wake up with a stiff neck from the position she was curled in now. Really, she should be moved to her bed, or at least the couch.

Another sigh slipped from Charle as she adjusted herself to stand, paws brushing invisible dirt from her clothes out of habit. Closing her eyes, she focused her magic and allowed it to wash over her, the transformation sending a warmth through her body. Now considerably taller than she was (though her ‘human’ form was still hardly tall), she opened her eyes and peered down at her dearest friend, watching for a moment to see if she remained asleep. Reassured for the moment, Charle quietly shifted closer, glad that she had pushed herself to gain new magic so that she could be of more use. Stronger (and longer) limbs certainly made gently scooping up the young dragon slayer now a lot easier, after all.

With Wendy’s slight form in her arms, she carefully lifted her to the couch and eased her down on the plush surface. Certain the girl wouldn’t wake, Charle straightened up watched her for a moment, a fond smile playing on her lips.

She then turned and picked up one of the blankets from the floor, draping it gently across Wendy before moving to sit upon one of the nearby armchairs with her own blanket. Content for the moment, she allowed her eyes to close and peace to seep in.

And that was when the vision struck.

6×08 Christopher's first crush

Okay, so I get wanting Buck to be there for Chris' first crush moment but let me tell you, my brain cells had a DVD logo hitting the corner moment and I honestly think it was even better to have Carla there with Eddie instead.

Now before we get into it let's remember some already-established facts:

Eddie's parents never approved of his relationships (bar maybe Ana) and made him feel like he needed to find a Mom for Christopher, and he listens to it in some way proved by the fact he dated Ana

Eddie always feels like he's failing Christopher in some way or another (the examples are endless here)

Eddie has been going to therapy and working towards abolishing his toxic masculinity upbringing thoughts etc.

Eddie sees Carla as a voice of reason and listens to her advice (ie breaking up with Ana after remembering her advice)

Now for the explaining part.

So, first of all, I think it was incredibly important that Eddie be able to have this moment where he gets to focus solely on his relationship with Chris because it allows for things to be passed by more clearly. Like if Buck was there, there would be:

Eddie's relationship with Chris

Buck's relationship with Chris

Eddie's relationship with Buck

Eddie, Buck, and Chris as a family

With Carla we only have

Eddie's relationship with Chris

Carla and Eddie's friendship

(and a bit of Carla's relationship with Chris)

This means we have fewer angles to juggle and we get to focus on the important aspects of things, especially because Carla is very much a neutral character, a mediator who's already established and whose relationship with either Diaz has long since been defined. She's a permanent fixture in that household, which is important.

Because this episode was about two major realisations for Eddie:

The realisation that he's raising his son just fine despite his parents' less than favourable views

The realisation that his fantasies could become a reality

Okay so first off, to explain realisation number 1

Having Eddie do the first crush getting his son ready part without Buck was very much so we could get the single-parent Eddie vibe. Because with Buck, he's always gonna have a second parent there, unofficial as he might be. This was a him thing alone.

So seeing his son thrive and realising that the doctors, his parents, and even Shannon at some point, were wrong and that he can have high expectations because with the right support system, Chris will exceed them time and time again was just a big "huh, so maybe they were wrong about this too".

This was him realising that he's doing a good job with Christopher and that the support system he has going on (Buck, Carla, the firefam) is more than enough, and he doesn't need to find Chris a Mom for him to have a good life, he's doing better than anyone ever expected just like this.

And for all intents and purposes, Carla is the closest thing Chris has to a Mom. As his aide, she takes care of him, is the person to spend the most time with him bar Eddie and Buck, and she clearly loves him to pieces. Even though she is an employee, she does almost everything a Mom would. And she does all that while having her own husband and being friends with Eddie.

So her presence there serves as an acknowledgement that while Chris benefits from having a female role model in his life, especially since he spent so much of his early years with Shannon, that doesn't mean Eddie needs a wife. Carla fills the role of a Mom without filling the role of a second parent. She brings that feminine touch that Eddie's been indoctrinated to search for while also remaining enough on the outside that Eddie could have a partner.

This brings us to realisation number 2

Now that Eddie has seen that his fantasies can become a reality (Christopher thriving in school, having a maternal figure without having to be a ready-made family like with Ana), he realises that maybe some of his other fantasies (aka Buck) can become a reality too.

We especially see this when Carla talks to him about fantasies, and they immediately cut to Buck getting Jee's room ready. It's him realising that if his fantasies have become a reality, then maybe his Buck fantasy could too.

And what makes this even better is that we can see all throughout this episode where Buck can fit. He can be Chris' second parent while both of them would still be balanced out by Carla's never-ending patience and wisdom. He could be a partner for Eddie and a parent for Chris, and they don't have to "give up" anything to have that because Buck has his own space already.

And just overall it was important to have Buck still on the outside of that because Eddie is an established parent and Carla is an established feature, but Buck is still an unstable fantasy-type thing for Eddie and he needed to realise that he could have that without putting his son's stability or his own in jeopardy.

So yeah those are my thoughts, not fully sure how coherent this is or how much sense it made cause my mind's going at lightspeed with all the thoughts and excitement, but yes. Overall loved this episode.

You have been in Santa Carla for about a year now, you wanna know how long it took for the boys to fall for you? 2 months

Paul fell first, bro spent a whole 2 hours daily rambling to Marko about how much he loved you, how perfect you were in his eyes, how cute you were…

Gender doesn’t matter to these rat bastards, you’re still Paul’s Cutie

Marko fell next, listening to Paul rant about your utter perfection, thus, he started believing you were an angel, literally an angel.

And that’s when the two boys started stalking you, following you around the boardwalk and practically growling at anyone that approached, male, female, whatever

Paul practically has heart eyes every time he sees you, every single time.

Dwayne is next, and he falls WAY harder than the other two

Mr. Tall, dark and handsome over here will follow you home daily, he waits for nightfall and comes out to see you, when he’s not with his brothers, he’s around you.

He may as well be lying on a bed, writing in a notebook about how much he loves you, giggling and kicking his feet like a schoolgirl

So, the three that AREN’T David fall in love with you in two months, David followed shortly behind, and only a month after Dwayne fell, David was fucking INFATUATED.

He has it BAD, like, god, it’s even worse than his brothers.

Eventually, all four of the boys decide they wanna talk to you, and goddammit the minute you open your mouth they’re even more in love with you. 

And so, they start leaving you anonymous gifts, roses, jewelry, Marko paints for you, anything they can think of, they’ll steal it and leave it on your porch. 

It took a few months, but when you realized they were giving you the gifts, you started hanging out with them more, and soon, you were taken to the cave.

They loved you, obviously.

It took almost no time for you to fall for their silly personalities, and that was when they knew they had you.

They became protective, but not outwardly obsessive.

At least, you thought so. 

After they started dating you, they started getting worse in their stalking.

They had a system, every other week, sometimes months between instances, one of them would silently stalk you, keeping hidden in the dark, and one or two of them would pretend to bump into you when you start freaking out.

You were always too freaked out to ask how they were there.

You found out they were vampires when you caught them killing and feeding on a guy who had been actually stalking you. You were freaked out at first.

Eventually, David managed to calm you, promising they would never hurt or kill you.

Now that we’re past all the meetings, falling, stalking, and so on, here’s the actual cute stuff. 

Paul and Marko

These rat fucks are literally never not by your side. 

They bite you, randomly grab you, kiss you, just whenever they want, it doesn’t matter. 

Both boys steal things from you, all the time

Clothes, blankets, stuffed animals, books, your perfume/cologne/body spray, makeup if you wear it, whatever they can get their hands on, it’s with them.

You slowly start noticing them wearing your clothes, your perfume/cologne/body spray, and you ask about it. They always deny having it.

If you wear it, they put on your lipstick or lipgloss before they kiss you, because they think it's funny. 

Paul started trying to get you to smoke with him. 

Marko paints you like constantly, and anytime he catches you watching or looking at him, he has the most lovestruck and goofy look on his face.

Both fantasize about you 24/7 and just bounce stuff off of each other. 

They definitely bite you the most

65% of the bitemarks on you are from them, and 35% are from the other two boys.

Tease you the most

Teasing nips are greetings to them

Both have very little consistency in pet names for you, they just pick whatever.

Dwayne

The sweetest, and the biggest stalker ever.

Bro follows you around constantly. 

He doesn’t allow you to ride on the back of Paul and Marko's bikes, it's either him or David.

Holds your hands all the time

Gives you his jacket all the time.

You get cold? Take his jacket. Getting outta the ocean after Paul tossed you in? Take his jacket.

Smiles every time he sees you. 

Also takes your perfume/cologne/body spray, sprays himself down, and snuggles into clothes you wear he stole when he wanted to snuggle with you.

Acts totally normal around you but is a giggly schoolgirl when talking about you with the boys.

Brings you food and drinks daily, if he doesn’t know if you’ve eaten, you bet your ass he’s bringing you food.

About 15% of your bites are from him. 

Constantly makes sure you care for yourself.

Not into PDA but will hold your hands daily.

Bro has a mix of songs that reminds him of you.

Calls you stuff like Darling and Honey, he just gives those vibes.

David

OHHHH DEAR GOD-

David is worse than Dwayne, Marko, and Paul combined.

Stalks you, constantly, and he always makes sure you know he’s there.

Sassy, sarcastic, an asshole, we know this, but this carries over to you too.

Bro sasses you all the time.

Dude treats you like he treated Star, bro will just stare at you, if you don’t respond or do as he’s implying, he just calls your name again, and again, until he eventually just snaps in your face, not shouting, but literally snapping.

Nips at your ears, neck, and shoulders

Teases you, all the time, constantly for no reason. Like if you trip bro is laughing and he doesn’t even help your ass up. 

He does care though, he loves you so SO much.

The dude actually takes his damn gloves off to touch you sometimes! That NEVER happens!

Isn’t into PDA, at all, his hands stay securely in your back pockets or with his fingers through your belt loops, you are not leaving his side, if he isn’t around you bet your ass you’re sticking with Dwayne.

Will randomly give you things, Bro gave you one of his old tee shirts and he gets very pouty if you don’t wear it around.

He is not a sweet boy, but also a sweet guy, if you wear down his walls and wiggle your way into his heart, you will NEVER leave.

He’s terrified of being alone, if you leave for even a second, the man almost melts down. 

Calls you stuff like Babe, Baby, and Doll, doll is used no matter your gender, he won’t stop.

One more because our first one for Davie here also brings you food but fucks with you like he did with Micheal. He does keep extras if you actually freak out about it but after a certain point in your time with the boys, you start leaning into the goofiness.

The boys are cuddlers, if they stay with you in your house, (You have blackout curtains) they are wrapped around you, Paul and Marko are damn well laying on top of you.

Will scream at any bastard on the boardwalk that even LOOKS at you wrong.

They fight anyone at all, for any reason, for everything, at all for you.

These nerds rant about everything they love, David will scream about how much he loves Billy Idol at any time, Marko talks about art all the damn time, Paul will just rant about how fucking much he loves guitarists like Mick Mars, Ace Frehley, and Eddie Van Halen, and Dwayne talks about books. All four always have stars in their eyes when talking, it's so cute. 

The rats started rubbing off on you, you’re crazy now, you ride bikes, and you yell, and scream with all of the boys.

When they do turn you, it amplifies by 20.

Your favorite activity is hanging off the bridge with the boys and biking. 

You eventually get your own, they were hesitant, but eh.

They love biking with you, and then you all either hang from the wood beams while sleeping or snuggle up in your bed and sleep peacefully. You wearing one of their jackets of course.
