Lunar Chronicles headcannon:

Thorne got a fake ID to gamble and drink when he was a teenager, and ended up joining the military with it. By the time he's a fugitive with Cinder, he forgets he told everyone the wrong age. So he's actually like 18 instead of 20 the whole time, making all of the character dynamics on the Rampion make a lot more sense (including his relationship with 16 year old Cress)

LUNAR CHRONICLES BUT ON THEIR EQUIVALENT OF HOT ONES

Cinder does pretty well, excluding the creative string of swear words she comes up with. Finishes all ten wings.

Kai almost quits at 5. The only thing keeping him going is that Thorne quit at six and Kai knew that if he quit at 5 he would never hear the end of it. Gets to da bomb and then is like, Well I mine as well finish this.

Scarlet managed to finish all ten wings but is like beet red in the face. Has significant trouble answering questions

Fun fact, canines can't taste spice and neither can Wolf. Cleans his plate and drinks from da bomb bottle (cause Scarlet is watching) gives himself a stomach ache

Cress. Poor sweet cress. She ate all ten wings, crying, but she did it

Unlike Cress Thorne only got to 6. Talked some big game before hand. Will never live it down.

Jacin was stoic. So very very stoic. I mean he had the discipline to do it but he also answered in 1 to 3 word answers, also his ears turned red. Told everyone it wasn't that spicy.

Cinder has almost died on multiple occasions. This girl has basically looked death in the eye a number of times before the age of 17 and she lived to tell the story. Literally unmatched

Thorne knows his full name here, which means he could track down his birth records and thus parents- if he wasn't convinced there was no point, as they voluntarily submitted him to die. so.

He braids his hair in much the same way that cress wraps hers around her wrists as stress relief. I didn't find a good way to draw it, but its there.

Thorne is more unsure than in canon in this au, but he is very interested in making cool romantic moments (as opposed to Cress, who was very interested in having them but rarely tried to make them.)

he has a little Thorne! just as eager and cheerful as little cress, but a bit more utility-focused. He quickly got bored of the background work slog, even as a child, and thus programmed little thorne to take over lots of the early searching, filtering, and sourcing of the research Sybil often asks for.

the haircut cress gives him post-satellite is, admittedly, rather good for a newly blind woman.

However, if you have functioning eyes, you can probably tell that it is godawful.

Fortunately, Cress also manages to pick up an escort body for Nansi, who delights in fixing it for him.

(on that note, I think I might change up her look from Iko's even though it doesn't really make a ton of sense? mostly because I want to. Talk me out of it in the tags)

Thorne gives Cress her eyedrops and is very extra special careful about it because he doesn't wanna mess up this thing he's got going on in her direction. He's worried about her!

I made a pass at a butterfly outfit here- I confess, I'm very excited for the blue "dress"

(I may or may not let it be a dress, I think that futuristic sci fi can accommodate a man in a dress so it's really just whatever I wanna draw that day and whatever i think he looks good in)

either way, i let the butterfly sleeves instead take on a capeish feel, as I don't think the draping feel works as well on this kind of jacket. Future changes may occur!

His satellite outfit was kind of meant to give this yucky hospital gown feel, as I imagine Sybil to be rather,,,,, uninterested in the fashion of her little tool.

You should write something about how you imagine an interaction between Kai and Adri would go. I think cinder has made peace and is just trying to move on but I don’t think Kai would be quite as calm or diplomatic towards her especially after he finds out more of cinders past and what her life with adri was like. He’s protective.

As previously mentioned, Kai has a canon hatred toward Adri and Pearl. Especially since Adri uses her newfound fame to perpetrate accusations to the ravenous media. Still, he doesn't have to talk to her ever again, and Cinder is ready to move on, so they leave it to the past.

Yeah right. Nothing is ever that simple.

Here's my headcanon. Remember in Cinder when Adri volunteers Cinder for the draft and the droids come to collect her? Cinder antagonises Adri, Adri slaps Cinder, Cinder attacks the droid but is ultimately captured.

Interestingly, droids record everything...

So flashforward several years, Cinder and Kai are well into marriage and Adri continues to bash them to anyone who will listen, which is only the snoops. Then they name their daughter Peony, which evokes a massive blow-out from Adri. Claims they tainted the name, disparaged her daughter's legacy, yadda yadda, and suddenly a lot more people are interested in this drama. People become critical of Cinder using that name and more trusting of Adri's testimony that Selene is a wicked, inhuman monster.

Kai is furious at all this hoo-ha. They preserved Linh Peony's legacy by naming the future Empress of the Eastern Commonwealth after her? Is that not evidence of Cinder's love and character? Yet Cinder asks him to stay silent, so he does. But he knows this will eventually boil over, so he waits.

Remember that droid? Well, it was a government droid, and the recorded footage was saved in government archives. One day, a hacker (not Cress) infiltrates the government and leaks thousands of vids recorded from droids. Among the many vids, one just happens to be Empress Selene, as a 16-year-old child, being slapped by Linh Adri, which is posted online.

Outrage. Adri's name is refuse overnight. Many then say, "do you not remember when Adri tried to slap Selene at the Peace Ball? We've had the video of it for years!" People even call for Cinder to initiate a defamation lawsuit against her for all the slander. Cinder is a new mother who has already put this behind her and obviously does not want this happening right now, or ever. She wants to let it blow up and die.

Kai instead takes swift, final action. New Beijing Palace releases an official statement:

In light of recent controversy, the crown would like to clarify that we had no role in releasing the said videos, nor do we intend to 'benefit' from the ensuing public reaction. What happened in the past is by no means excusable, but for the peace of our family, we have elected not to pursue any further action. We ask that the public respect all parties involved and their right to remain silent in this matter.

That ends it right then and there. Neither Cinder nor Kai address the matter or Adri again, although Thorne likes to discuss it openly on his podcast (with their permission in advance). If Kai ever saw Adri in person, well...some more direct statements may be made...

Adri crawls into a hole for a while. Eventually she returns, still rich and still eager to vilify Cinder, but her audience is only small tabloids and her fame limited to infomercial appearances.

Lunar Chronicles Headcannon

I’m not sure if anyone has done this before but here’s the idea. So we all know how Thorne was blind in Cress and how he was given drops to help his vision. The general idea is that his vision can really just be up to the day.

He can have good and bad days on good days his vision is great. On bad days he could have anything from migraines to zero vision and would have to have Cress walk him around and things like that. He would also have a bandanna or something to hide his eyes on the bad days. Also on bad days his vision isn’t always completely gone sometimes it’s just a bit blurry.

More 2nd Gen Headcannons because I’m writing a love letter right now: Wolflet child

Wolf and Scarlet were super excited to have a child

While trying to get pregnant they spent all their time trying to think of baby names and researching parenting tips

Sadly they found out Scarlet can’t have kids

And even if she could, the doctors are too unsure about Wolf’s genes to even recommend trying

Naturally they’re heartbroken

The crew tries to comfort them but it’s hard with everyone else’s kids running around

Don’t feel too sad though!

Scarlet and Wolf are the designated crew babysitters

It’s such a shame they can’t have kids because they’re amazing parents

The rest of the crew will make a point to leave their kids with them even over minor things

Scarlet usually makes the kids work on the farm when they visit

They don’t mind though because she makes good food for them in return

Also just like an Wires and Nerves, Wolf is the best for piggy backs ^^

Okay don’t come at me but this is my main head cannon— I have real second hcs too though if anybody wants to see them :)

Headcanon that after the events of Stars Above (More specifically, “Something Old, Something New”), Cress starts learning how to pilot the Rampion.

A shortened list of reasons I think Cress would learn to pilot the Rampion after the events of Winter:

Cress has been trapped and out of control for almost her entire life. I’m sure traveling around the world has been healing for her, and I know she trusts Thorne. However, I do think, to a certain degree, she’d want to be in control, or, at least be able to get herself out if necessary

Cress is probably a lil traumatized by Thorne hitting his head on the way down to Earth (in Cress), and she’d likely be cautious and hesitant to rely on others to be able to fly the ship bc of this.

She’d also probably remember how there was a pilot taking Sybil to her satellite (aka Jacin), how he didn’t help her, and how she could probably have found a way to escape if she knew how to fly.

When it comes to flying, Thorne is not great™️, and it would be nice to not have to start sending prospective last words via comm every time they land somewhere.

And Thorne has never wanted to be a pilot (Source: I think there are probably multiple instances, but, most recently, Stars Above “Carswell’s Guide to Getting Lucky”), so, all in all, it makes sense that Cress would take on that role.

jacin was purposely luxurious in using the rampion’s supplies. maybe because it had been a while before he could be mean to his peers without punishment, so he took this chance to mess with cinder. because he’s a little bitch.

iko and cress were very close. their friendship started when iko cut her hair and cress confessed to iko about her feelings for thorne. i have no idea if iko’s mental age is fourteen or forty five, but i think it’d be a fun experience for her to just be a girl and have fun. and cress totally did weird technology programming stuff to her. sounds creepy but. oh well.

kaider had unsatisfactory sex for the first time on the rampion and felt a little embarrassed about it for a while, but they eventually powered through it and kept their relationship strong.

wolf wanted to grow a beard, like a huge one, but felt that it would only bring attention to the fact that he’s TWENTY THREE YEARS OLD, so reluctantly kept it clean shaven. he and thorne were definitely beard buddies after the war though.

THORNE AND WOLF ARE BROTHERS OK. wolf is like the older male figure that thorne looked up to, and thorne is wolf’s chance at another younger brother. their contrast between abused lunar soldier and rich, sheltered american really seals the deal for a bomb dynamic. and wolf would totally redefine the idea of masculinity for thorne, really make him get rid of all that toxic shit. he also calls thorne carswell to piss them off. no this is not a carswolf post but could be.
