with the release of TGCF s2, I've decided to start re-reading the novel on my lunch breaks but by god I'd forgotten how much Mu Qing makes my head ache. Maybe the only character in the series that I struggle to enjoy reading.
it's very silly but simple: He reminds me of a personality type in real life that I really really do not like being around - that personality type who seems to willfully interpret everything you say in the worst possible light... who overthinks your every text conversation to imagine all of these undertones and implications that were never there. Like... maybe my words just mean.... literally what I said?! maybe you created bullshit to get mad about in your own head and now you're making me responsible for it?!! Maybe I'm not actually judging you and you're just taking your self-esteem issues out everyone around you? 🤔 It's fucking exhausting.
tldr; Every time this dude is on the page I wanna find him funny but instead I get war flashbacks to toxic irl people I've suffered to know, including family who can't be escaped 💀
i honestly envy the readers who can stan him, cause they don't have my baggage.

I see that the MCU’s “New World Order” movie is going exactly as terribly as anyone with a brain could’ve predicted.

I think Gortash's design is very interesting. Yeah sure even his coat's description mentions "a maddening attention to even the most minute details of the filigree," but what I really enjoy about is the sharpness of it all. Humans are all soft, rounded teeth, round ears, even sharp features are in reality, very soft. Gortash's coat's details are all sharp. You couldn't hug him without several pointy miniature horns poking at you. His right hand, has a metal claw on every finger. If you're not careful, even a handshake with Gortash could draw blood. On his left hand, only the ringfinger and pinky are clawed. A gentle touch from that hand could be followed with a sharp blade cutting skin.
His back however? Completely bare from any decoration. He doesn't think anyone will approach, or even see him from behind. His clothes are meant to be seen standing, in front of a crowd, maybe on a throne. Ruling over everyone. However, it's a strange choice to leave your back so bare from what protects you on all other sides. Maybe he thinks his god has his back. Maybe he knows there's no one there. Maybe his trust in himself and those under his rule is firm enough.

big dragon is like if two equally terrible mame villains suddenly became the protagonists of their own BL show after their attempts to out-manipulate each other ended in accidental hate sex. and like... it's not good. but it does compel me.

And in a surprising plot twist...
TEAM HANDSHAKE WINS BY A SMALL MARGIN
I think everyone was so sure Frye had it in the bag that we didn't realize Handshake was actually still in the running! Congratulations to your team!
Fist Bump, I am so sorry for another Frye L, I was actually rooting for her too...She'll get her win
Team Hug, I am SO personally sorry, I lost 3 100xs this time in a truly atrocious play......Two of them were in Pro, I was absolutely defeated this Splatfest so I can't even be upset by losing 😭
Enjoy your snails, and please try to behave!

"I have a great relationship with my mom and dad because they love me!" Kirishima exclaimed.
"Well, that just makes me feel worse." Midoriya sighed.
"Wait, Deku, we've met your mom?" Uraraka pointed out. "Inko's great."
"Yes," Midoriya agreed, "But it was my father who left me to fend for myself in the frozen tundra with nothing but a hatchet and a length of rope. I would have died if a pack of wolves hadn't taken me in as one of their own."
Uraraka's jaw was dropped from the story.
"Oh, I'm, uh," Kaminari stammered. "Sorry to, uh. Wolves?"
"Yes," Midoriya nodded, "But I wasn't safe. The wolves were robots built by my father in order to lull me into a false sense of security. I awoke one morning to find he had slaughtered them all and left a message in the snow reading, 'I dare you to love again'."
Kaminari fell silent.
"Wh-" Ashido started.
"But the message was actually written in ant pheromone." Midoriya revealed, causing Ashido to double over in pain. "I was suddenly engulfed by thousands of rabid African ants, each trying to burrow its way inside me in order to get to the queen larva my father had put in my Cheerio's."
Kouda slowly stopped eating his cereal. Tokoyami continued to eat his.

It’s sooo funny to me that Mythic Quest was made by the same people as Always Sunny because they both have their different strong suits and flaws and are successful in different ways and unsuccessful in others, but I was describing the MQ backstory episodes in particular to my sister like: short film festival worthy masters of modern tragedy, pinnacle of storytelling, directing and acting, truly a perfect balance of drama with just the right amount of humour and humanity, and then I’m like from the same people who brought you:
