(Diego on his birthday) It’s horrible. It’s been traumatic. It took me awhile to understand that there was another kid that was born on the 25th that was much more celebrated than me. Yeah, it was sad. Everyone was like either hangover or getting ready for New Year’s Eve but never really actually celebrating me. It was like, “Hey! I’m here!” “Yeah, we know whatever.”

The thing is: Andor is a great (not perfect!) show that I enjoyed, but it absolutely doesn't follow the very few pieces of Cassian's backstory that we got in Rogue One.

I thought he'd been in the fight since he was 6 years old, not running up debts around his childhood town. Yes, yes, they showed him as a child on Kenari, but that line definitely implied that he'd been involved consistently for those years.

There are others, but I feel like that one really summarises my problem with Andor as a whole because it implies experience, a child soldier, and utter dedication to the cause. Andor didn't fully convince me that Cassian had done "terrible things" on behalf of the Rebellion in a way that wore him down morally over a long period of time.

I feel like this could have been super easily fixed if they'd shown him being involved in a flagging rebel cell on Ferrix. Maybe one set up by Maarva and Jeron that he'd taken over since Maarva's illness and Jeron's death. Brasso, Bix, and Timm could have been involved, and Bix's stronger dedication to the cause (and, therefore, Cassian) is another factor in Timm's jealousy. Wilmon could have wanted to join, but his dad was keeping him out of it for his safety and because he was too young. Maarva could still have become tired and disillusioned after her husband died and fighting an endless war until the Raid on Aldhani. One of Cassian's missions could have drawn the attention of both the Empire and Luthen, leading to him being hunted and recruited.

Cassian's journey could have been about learning to care about the wider galaxy's fight instead of his beloved adopted planet and family. Heck, get a Hera cameo talking about her own experience on Ryloth and her father choosing to stay behind. The contrast between Hera's determination to join the wider Rebellion and Cassian feeling like he was pressured into it because of the bounty on his head would have been interesting.

Also, I would have loved a Kallus/Fulcrum mention at some point.

Just a couple of quick edits and tweaks would have fixed the continuity problems that they created for themselves, but it's like they didn't care enough to bother. They wanted to tell their story and then act super arrogant and dismissive when people point out the contradictions between the series and the film it is a direct prequel to.

The name of the series is andor that is the surname of the cassian jeron andor so OFC the story revolves around HIM ofc the characters in that series revolve around him because they are showing you how this grumpy brooding thief became the rebellion's sharpest knife and their messiah.

Kanan’s theory was that Kallus had missed out on so much sleep as an ISB agent that his body was making up for it in the here and now. Sabine’s theory was some form of extreme sleep apnea. Ezra would always chime in with the ever-stupid theory that he had been cursed by a Sith Lord in his youth; eye rolling always followed that proclamation. Cassian Andor had no such imaginings: in his opinion, it was just the plain old honest-to-Force brand of insanity that only occurred around one Alexsandr Kallus. Which is how he found himself hauling a very unconscious ex-ISB agent by his ankle down one of Yavin’s many dirt paths. It wasn’t the first time Kallus had fallen asleep at his desk, but it was the first time that Zeb wasn’t around to strong-arm his boyfriend out of Intelligence. No one else had volunteered for the job, which had left one beleaguered Cassian Jeron Andor to try and figure out some way to drag 195 centimeters of dead weight all the way to the barracks. Suffice to say, he was not thrilled.
