this is so dreamling coded and meowpheus coded i had to make a post about it

au where dream gets stuck in his cat form and death drops him at hob’s place telling hob this is lord morpheus, and he needs someone to take care of him for a few days until he recoveres (regains his powers to be able to shapeshift back to humanoid form)

imagine hob’s surprised pikachu face when at the end of the week the cat turns into his stranger

​who’s brushing cat fur from his coat and doing his damnest to keep looking regal when facing hob who has in the past days seen him: chase after a flashlight, miss the landing when jumping from a window sill onto the couch, spit cat hairball, beg for tuna cans, get spooked by a garbage bag, demand scratches, throw a tantrum when hob wanted to take him to the vet…

Uhm, so, for those of you with any attention left given the absolute deluge of amazing Dreaming fic coming out in the wake of the Centennial Husbands Big Bang... my silly little cat/cow ficlet inspired by the delightful shenanigans in @gabessquishytum's orbit has broken containment and insisted on developing plot so here we are.

Now with extra Ukrainian bird-women, angst, and a cameo from Hob's mother.

Thinking about Dream cat behavior.

Especially retired Dream behavior I think would be very cat like.

Climbing into Hob’s lap as he’s sitting in his home office, trying to work, suddenly finding himself with a lapful of warm Dream. Pale arms wrapped around him, tucking his nose against Hob’s neck, purring, falling sleep. Well guess that’s all the work Hob’s gonna do today, he can’t move now. He’s not a monster.

Curling on Hob’s chest as he’s lying on the couch.

Getting impatient when Hob takes too long in the bathroom, and either joining him or complaining behind the door. “Hob,” he says, not whining at all.

Coming to inspect what snack Hob’s got at every crinkle of a packet.

Enjoying Hob’s scratches and pets with a blissed out expression on his face.

Having moments of frantic energy highs when he snoops through Hob’s stuff, roaming from room to room, until he finds something that piques his curiosity and sates his agitation.

Doing nothing but sprawling on bed the whole day.

Launching himself at Hob from behind and nuzzling against his back as he’s scrubbing the dishes, scaring him shitless.

Leaving scratches on Hob.

Perching on every surface possible, counters, desks, tables, the back of the sofa, the windowsill.

Hissing at appliances when they don’t cooperate with him.

Biting.

Demanding attention when he’s left alone for too long.

Waking Hob up at ass o’clock in the mornings, because while sleep and dreams are important so is cuddling your Dream close and Dream’s been awake for some time already so he needs attention now.

Hating getting wet. Rain is evil.

Birds are fascinating.

Licking.

Nuzzling against Hob’s legs, chest, back, face, anything.

Seeking warm spots in the house.

anyways that’s all I have for Dream’s a cat agenda for now 🐈‍⬛

Still doing amazing writing love! I adore the idea Morpheus protecting the reader as a massive fluffy cat, like not just main coon sized but like a HORSE SIZED main coon looking cat and the reader just using him as a giant comfy couch afterwards cause who in their right mind wouldn’t take that opportunity with a cat that big.

YESSS!!! I love Lord Meowpheus and GIANT LORD MEOWPHEUS is just absolutely amazing!

You'd seen many things in your years dating Dream of the Endless. You'd been transported by magic sand, spoken to his talking raven Matthew, seen gargoyles and unicorns and all manner of mythical creatures, you'd seen nightmares of every size and shape and you were quite confident that nothing could surprise you at this point. But as you stared down the alley at the giant - GIANT - Maine Coon that now stood between you and the group of men that had spooked you, that was beginning to seem less likely.

The large cat hissed at the group before taking a step forward, effectively sending the lot of them scurrying off shouting and screaming in terror. It turned back to you, midnight fur shining in the moonlight and its two eyes glowed as it focused on you. With another step, the creature shrank until its form shifted into that of your beloved immortal.

His coat billowed in the chilled breeze as he made his way to your side to cup your cheeks and look over you with a worried gaze. "Are you harmed?"

"That was a big cat," you mumbled, still somewhat shocked.

Dream sighed, pressing a kiss to your head. "No more late-night walks for you, my dear."

You pulled back and looked at him with furrowed brows. "YOU were a big cat."

"I have many forms," he answered. "You know this."

"Yeah well, giant cat was definitely NOT on the list you gave me!" You insisted. "Think of all the missed opprotunities!"

"Such as?"

"Cat couch," you stated with a smile. "I'd get to lounge on your giant cat body and be consumed by that silky hair!"

He chuckled. "I'm quite certain we can arrange this..."

"Cat couch," you whispered.

"Cat couch, yes."

That night Fiddlers Green was filled with soft purrs and gentle snores as Dream of the Endless slept in his large cat form and you slept on top of him, cocooned in the black fur you'd never slept better.

So I finished Sandman way later than everyone else but now I am here! And to heal my heart, which had been broken by certain animated episode, here: Loooots of floofy Dream void and Hob, part 2 here Cuz I love ´em both.
