My Double Trouble Collection
So...I like to collect things. Especially things I’m obsessed with--in this case, Double Trouble. Some of these are things I’ve made, and others are things I bought from Redbubble, Etsy, and at an anime con I recently went to. Links will be provided for the things I bought.
This is part 1 of 2; both will be tagged as “double trouble collection”
Tumblr media
Here’s a cute DT sticker from Redbubble on my makeup case. https://www.redbubble.com/i/sticker/Double-Trouble-by-Amadere/41883233.EJUG5
Tumblr media
These are a couple magnets, also from Redbubble! They have these designs in sticker form, as well--I’m just running out of places for stickers.
Left: https://www.redbubble.com/i/magnet/She-Ra-Double-Trouble-by-ESkalecki/42324406.TBCTK
Right: https://www.redbubble.com/i/sticker/double-trouble-by-chadolbaegi/56725442.O9UDB (This is the sticker version--I wasn’t able to find the magnet on their profile this time. Not sure if I just missed it or if they removed that option.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got this sticker and badge at an anime con from https://www.fantasmshop.com/
Go check them out! They have loads of characters from all sorts of fandoms, and the art style is super cute! They have stickers, badges, and keychains. I’m in LOVE with how cute this DT is!!!
Tumblr media
We’re going to cap this off with a shrinky dink keychain I made! I didn’t draw this myself--it’s from DT’s official character model sheet.
It didn’t turn out the greatest--the colored pencil got smudged in places, and the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic I was trying to put on the top WOULD NOT cooperate with me! I added, like, six layers to try to fix the missed spots and uneven texture, but it just wasn’t working. I took a picture of the back (the clear plastic side) so you wouldn’t have to see the mess on the other side.
That said, as messy as it is, it’s still mine, and I’m happy to have anything with DT’s face plastered on it.
(As a disclaimer, I do NOT recommend tracing for anything you plan to sell. This one was just for me, and I’m not trying to claim I drew it. I would never steal someone’s art for profit or try to take credit for something I didn’t do, and you shouldn’t either.)

Hey Ellian hope ur day's goin well! I remember a while back u talked about Korean restaurants in Chicago and I'm trying to find a good kbbq to take my friend to, do u have any reqs? I've been to Gogi and liked it but I'm wondering if there's something better! Ty in advance appreciate ur blog a lot
hi!!!! ive been doing pretty alright and i hope that you've been doing just as well (and hopefully better!) than me (^: and YES. okay. i do know places that would be fantastic<3
my favorite is cho sun ok on lincoln. literally THE best chadolbaegi in the city (trust me you cannot go wrong with chadolbaegi here and i dont really like chadolbaegi all that much normally) and i really really love their naengmyeon (a must for real after meat!). my sister is adamant that it's the best naengmyeon on this side of the globe and she's like a naengmyeon connossieur so lol. it's def a smaller place and i would recommend going there during non busy hours but for the price it cannot be beat. make sure to ask for the leftovers to be made into fried rice after ur done!! (they also have KILLER side dishes here imo but def make sure not to wear too nice clothes here bc they will get smelly and ur dog will go crazy over the meat smells asflsajdkfas) the samgapsal is also really nice here too as is the galbi but i would def recommend trying at least one order of the chadolbaegi with ur menu!! ^_^ (if u do end up getting the naengmyeon, may it be bibim or mul naengmyeon you can order one and ask it to be "halved" with you and another person! really nice and that way it's not too much after you've inhaled ur body weight in meat)
san soo gab san and woo chon are also very nice! i havent been to ssyal in ages but whenever i go i do enjoy it there. daebak is also enjoyable if ur in the area! (^:
edit: not really kbbq but if u ever want some seollongtang, highly recommend han bat on lawrence!

Day 9: Cho Sun Ok
Tumblr media
Our final lunch of our May Project was at the restaurant Cho Sun Ok near Lincoln Square. Cho Sun Ok is a restaurant that lets its patrons cook their own meat with tongs in a large grill at the center of their table (the famous Korean BBQ experience!!) This is what we ordered today:
Haemul pajeon
Mul naengmyeon
Chaedolbaegi
Banchan
Kimchi bokkeumbap
Loren was in charge of cooking the chadolbaegi, which is the thinly sliced beef brisket, with garlic cloves on the central grill. The banchan, which are many assorted side dishes, included small plates of cucumbers, kimchi, potatoes, beansprouts, acorn jelly, and various sauces.
Tumblr media
The mul naengmyeon, which are cold Korean noodles, came in a large steel bowl with a hard boiled egg and cucumber garnish. Its refreshing taste and chilled temperature was a great dish to have during the hot day.
Tumblr media
Once we were done eating, the ahjummas (the Korean aunties who work at the restaurant) came to our grill and mixed in kimchi, the remaining sides, and added white rice to create a delicious fried rice known as bokkeumbap. The rice became quite crispy at the bottom (this burnt rice is known as nurungji) and was the perfect way to end our lunch.
Tumblr media
The haemul pajeon, which is a seafood scallion pancake, was quite filling and savory. It was Tenzin’s personal favorite from lunch today at Cho Sun Ok. Loren’s favorite was the chadolbaegi and the kimchi bokkeumbap, and Kara’s was the kimchi bokkeumbap as well. As for this week of Korean cuisine, Loren and Kara’s favorite restaurant was Cho Sun Ok and Tenzin’s was Paik’s Noodles.
Tumblr media
To those keeping up with this May Project blog and our Instagram, thank you! We’ve had an awesome time this month sharing the Asian cuisine of our respective cultures and learning about some of the diverse communities throughout our city from each other. Now finally, here’s some further historical information about Korean barbeque and banchan:
KBBQ KBBQ traces back to the Goguryeo era, and its earliest form was called “maekjeok,” which were skewers roasted over a fire. Overtime, maekjeok became seoryamyeok (marinated beef roasted and soaked in water), and then seoryamyeok became neobiani, which consisted of thinly sliced beef served to Korean royalty during the Joseon dynasty. As beef became more commercialized, neobiani eventually became bulgogi, which is the signature dish found at many Korean restaurants.

Banchan Banchan plays an important role in Korean cuisine, accompanying every meal. The term “banchan” translates to side dishes, and there are a diverse variety of banchan, such as kimchi and oi muchim. Banchan has a long history, and stems back to when Korea was originally an agricultural-focused country with fermentation being its method of preservation. It is often believed that banchan was influenced by Buddhism, which spread to Korea during the mid-three Kingdom period (57 BCE-668 CE). Buddhism led to the prohibition of meat, which in turn led to the creation of vegetable-based dishes.
