I love Baldur's Gate 3.

It's so well written and intricate.

I could go on about all the great things but, in this post, I want to establish that I'll be starting a Chaos run (Honor Mode). I rolled dice for every Tav option in Character Creation and will be rolling dice for every conversation option.

No one is safe from what Chaos, the Brass Dragonborn Bard will say to them at any given moment.

What are his goals? His dreams? His passions?

His name says it all. (Also selected spells in this way...happy to report Charm Person was rolled which only adds FURTHER chaos lol).

nadine has never been the kind to follow superheroes, but sometimes superheroes end up following them. it is simply what happens when you tend to be a bit of a bad luck magnet, and needing their ass saved was a regular occurrence. they had come to terms with it a long time ago.

but still, it’s not every day you get steeped off your feet.

there is something about the sunsetting on the two of them, as the spider themed hero pulls them up to the top of a roof. they hold onto each other for just a little too long, and nadine feels their cheeks heat up.

“thank you.” they say, placing a quick kiss to the hero’s cheek, before stepping back.

her face flushes, and she wants to hide away. that’s kind of what she has been doing, anyways, avoiding both connor and sixty because not only were her feelings confusing, they were now hurting people, too. she should have a good answer for this, right now, but she doesn’t. despite the millions of times she has played this out in her head, she has nothing.

“it wasn’t… i didn’t want to hurt you. and-and i realized like, really soon, and, it was.” she pauses, unsure of how to proceed. she’s making excuses for herself, and she knows that, but she has absolutely no clue how to handle this kind of thing. rain was not created with love in mind. no wonder it always ends so terribly.

“i didn’t… i just thought we were supposed to kiss! connor and i! he’s all like nice, and whatever, and so i just!” she throws up her hands. “i don’t know. what would you have done?”

Shadowheart isn't very good when it comes to talking with people. She knows she can be quite awkward. The truth is that she isn't used to people outside of the followers of Lady Shar. She was with them for so long... She's used to their ways. But life is certainly far different from what she has imagined. It seems that she has a lot to learn... and she doesn't even know how to start.

She frowns, then hesitates. Is Ren serious ? Maybe she isn't. She's doing too much, right ? Or maybe Shadowheart is just very silly. "Only if you ask nicely." She replies, pretending to be serious for a moment before a laughter escapes her mouth. "I'll know when it's useful. I know it may still be early for you to trust me, but that's the truth."

Ren's not trying to be a dick. she knows she can come across like that, sometimes. often. sometimes it's on purpose. this time she's just ... maybe she's fumbling the conversation a bit. whatever.

she huffs at Shadowheart's words, dramatic and exaggerated. she puts on an expression of faux consideration, as if she doesn't believe the cleric's assertions.

❝ do they? are you going to grace us with them, at some point? ❞ she teases, a little nervous it might not be taken the way she intends it.

Some goblin Astarion things.

He pinches you when you toss and turn too much in your shared bed. “Wake up and stop flailing! Gods. I’ll have bruises from your pointy elbows in the morning.”

He sews “kick me” on the butt of Gale’s trousers in dark, dark gray after the Wizard pisses him off. Karlach sees it with her dark vision when they’re in the Underdark and promptly knees him in the ass.

He steals all of Halsin’s wooden ducks and plants them in Wyll’s tent, for shits and giggles.

He tries to line a tripwire across the front of Lae’zel’s tent entrance, but ends up pricking himself on a blow dart booby trap he failed to perceive. Incurs -3 hit points and the bleeding condition for 10 turns.

He nips your neck like a disgruntled cockatoo when you tease him in front of the other party members.

He puts swamp green clothing dye in Shadowheart’s bottle of hair dye when she’s not looking, causing her to endure some sickly green highlights for a fortnight.

He steals Wither’s staff while he’s speaking with Jaheria and hides it among Lae’zel’s armory. Gets hauled over by the ear by Jaheira to apologize to Withers. And Lae’zel.

He hides in the bushes near camp and makes god-awful wailing noises to keep Scratch and the owlbear cub barking while the party is trying to get some sleep.

He fabricates some ridiculous story about how the Weave is really a hoax designed by Big Magic to control the masses, just to see Gale go purple in the face while arguing against this “utter tripe.”

He loudly proclaims that he overheard Shadowheart telling Wyll she could beat Lae’zel in unarmed combat with a hand tied behind her back, then scampers away cackling when the two lady warriors start yelling at one another.

"i guess i hadn't thought of it that way." the permanence of death doesn't scare tommy, but maybe the pain would. how painful would it even be? most people hope to die at an old age, peacefully in their sleep. thomas doesn't necessarily think that far ahead. only as far as the death he brings when he has someone on his table. maybe next time he'll ask them what they fear about death.

"and what exactly were you thinking?"

❝ okay, fine, i'll give you that. though like, the way someone dies is scary to a lot of people. though i guess it's more just that people are scared of pain ... ❞ she trails off at the end, her own musings mostly just rambling at herself.

this is so not the conversation that Ren expected to be having when she started talking to Thomas. like ... she hadn't meant it as an insult exactly, but y'know. lotta people wouldn't take her comment as an invitation to chit-chat about the general state of people's relationship with death nowadays.

it's kinda fun, actually.

she snorts at Thomas's response though, returning his grin with a smirk of her own. ❝ that makes a lot more sense than what i was thinking, Jesus. ❞

Shadowheart frowns. They are working together, as a team. No one should be on their own. It doesn't mean she thinks the other isn't capable. It only means that the cleric wants to help. They all have these tadpoles trapped inside their brain, and without each other, they surely won't get rid off them.

"Don't be this way. I helped you because I wanted to. I know you're capable to do many things by yourself," she assures, letting a brief smirk cross her lips. "You're much stronger than me, actually. But I still want to be useful."
