I woke up to this thought? And it made me smile~
Wrong way Au?
It's EASY to fly from point A to point B. Linear. Just on long, no traffic, straight line. And if you get lost? Go higher! There you are! But "normal" reporter families with Totally Human genetics can't exactly DO that.
Plus? It's part of the whole Americana thing!
Childhood.
Gotta do a road trip, see weird road side attractions, camp and hike a bit. Go somewhere other then the farm for once. Soooo~ everyone into the car! Yes, you too, Kon.
And don't look at Lois, kids. She hates this idea as much as you do. But it's for Dad. So we're doing it. Get in the car. Some times loving people means "suuuure, honey! I TOTALLY want to sit in an uncomfortable car for hours for your nostalgic dream trip!", so get comfy.
Problem is? He either can't navigate for SHIT (unlikely) or this patch of nowhere? Possibly haunted? Cursed? Fuckey. Very, very Reality Fuckey. Far more likely, honestly. They THINK that was the a same barn the passed four times now... but it looks... wrong? Off. Worse each time, in ways that are hard to place.
Where the FUCK are they Clark?
According to the GPS?
Here.
(You are Here. You are Here. You are He-)
Oh, THAT'S not cursed! She fucking KNEW they shouldn't have left the city. FUCK the countryside. She likes ONE(1) small town and it's where her in-laws live, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! If they die, she swear to GOD-!!!
Then Jon points to colorful tents up the road. A mix of the kind you buy at big box stores and Ren fairs. Balloons. What the fuuuuuck? "Fenton Family Reunion"?
Was... was that THERE a second ago?
Clark's very deliberate Not Too Tight Grip Of Panic ™ on the steering wheel? Confirms that No Honey, it was not. Kon points out? That eventually they ARE going to run out of gas. They should stop.
Words can not express how little the Kents want to do that. They have KIDS to protect. This feels "magical fuckery" to them. AKA? One of the few things Kryptonians very much CAN NOT handle.
And luck getting ahold of anybody back there kids? No? Emergency lines too?
Fuck ™.
Okay! Guess we're stopping! Stay behind us.
They park.
There are campers and trucks, modified tanks and trackers. A few horses grazing side by side with an honest to God moose and two mules. A Llama. Someone's anchored a dirigible. A boat with spindly chicken footed legs, like it's the house of baba yaga's sea faring love child. The name Fenton is slapped on everything. Peoples faces.
Grinning.
Everything grinning.
As they get closer, the racket gets louder. Crashes and smashes. Roaring laughter. Explosions. The screech of metal failing and the whine of energy overclocked. Fatty meats cooking. Spices from around the globe. Radios and instruments, at least one of which violently cuts off in a smash.
They pass an almost violently balloon choked arch, into chaos.
Grinning giants, everywhere. Every color, every shade, every race imaginable. The spectrum of humanity laid bare. Made large. Grinning, Grinning, Grinning. Crashing into each other, against, through. Smashing and laughing, as everything breaks around them. Titans.
Darting underfoot, children. Fast with wild eyes. Mad grins and fae laughs. Wives and husband's, partners and friends, dancing in and out of the chaos. Just as destructive. Perhaps MORE so. Grabbing meals from grills, laughing and joking, tossing children into the fray, all as they effortless hold conversations of their own.
Like a Dionysian revelry, all madness and joy.
Then they are noticed.
"Cousin!"
One of them booms. Locking eyes on Clark. He doesn't even have time to move, doesn't realize until too late, in all the chaos, that the man meant HIM. A running start is followed by a brutal, full body, flying tackle. Clark is taken skidding to the ground and into a headlock.
"LETS WRASTLE~!!"
He watches in helpless confusion as, with high-pitched war cries, a pair of twins jump Jon. They are wearing war paint. Krypto already taken out by a glowing green dog, now confused and wrestling off to the side. Lois has whipped out her tazer. Kon between her and who ever comes next.
By the time he wrestle his "cousin" off of him, he's lost sight of them both.
Dives into the fray.
Magic be damned, that's his FAMILY!
It... It's the most fun he's had in years. That any of them have. He finds Lois in a breathless, screaming, debate/fistfight with her new best friend. Samantha "call me Sam Or ELSE" Manson-Fouley-Fenton. Kon is in the mud pit, wrestling other teenagers in some sort of battle Royale. Jon? Has become king of the ferals. The other parents are impressed.
His years of Damian wrangling finally paying dividends, apparently.
By the time Clark FINALLY tracks down Krypto, there is already crowd and it apparently six heel turns deep into the WWE Grand Saga of the Fenton Pet's League. Krypto, what the hell. No. No you may NOT "form one last alliance against my sworn wrestling enemy, to prove the true meaning of Christmas!" It's the middle of SUMMER!
Clark... Clark is so tired.
He's also a Fenton now. Yes, he KNOWS that's not how anything works. YOU try explaining that! He's on the call list and card list. It's like the Addams family out here! They just... just DECIDED him and his family were related! They've apparently DONE THAT BEFORE!
They leave with directions, fudge, more leftovers then anyone could possibly eat, and a massive new extended family. One that honestly? The Justice League SHOULD have known about. The sheer destructive chaos they get up too? EVERYONE should be aware of them. It seems impossible NOT to be! But? According to THEM, it's a "family thing". Reality tries to ignore them for "it's own sanity"? What???
So yeah.... no more road trips.
How was YOUR weekend?

Inmates convicted of domestic violence tracking their former partners from inside prison. A suspected child trafficker purchasing 11 magnetic surveillance devices. An elderly couple whose relationship deterioration started in tracking and ended in murder-suicide.
These are all examples of what the NSW Crime Commission says is an escalating problem – criminals using trackers to keep tabs on their victims.
Surveillance devices, including GPS trackers that can attach to a car, mobile phone spyware and bluetooth tracking devices like Air Tags, are increasingly being used in both domestic violence and organised crime, says a report from the Crime Commission released on Tuesday.
“It’s scary. We knew devices were being used in crime, particularly organised crime, but didn’t know how widely,” NSW Crime Commissioner Michael Barnes told the Herald.
The Commission was initially investigating the use of surveillance in organised crime, like in the execution of drug kingpin Alen Moradian, but came to realise they “had to include domestic violence”, said Barnes.
Asked about the crossover between organised crime and domestic violence, he said: “I think it’s the type of people. They are macho and violent, very possessive, their ego is out of control, it’s not surprising they are unrealistically possessive and controlling.
“To do that sort of work you have to be involved in violence, and have a command and control approach.”
The Commission analysed 5663 purchases of tracking devices, with alarming findings. One in four purchasers had a history of domestic violence, 15 per cent of purchasers had a history in serious or organised crime, and 126 were subject to apprehended violence orders at the time of purchase.
One in three offenders charged under the Surveillance Devices Act with unlawfully using tracking devices were also associated with organised crime networks, the report said.
Such was the commission’s alarm that it referred 391 of those purchasers to NSW Police for investigation. NSW Police were contacted for comment.
One man – with no criminal convictions but suspected to be involved in the trafficking and sexual abuse of children – purchased 11 magnetic trackers in the past year.
In another instance, an elderly man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, used a GPS tracker from a car shop to stalk his wife of 25 years before murdering her. “The tracking appeared to form part of a series of behaviours that the offender used to prevent the victim from leaving the relationship,” said the report.
In another example, two men, both in prison for domestic violence offences, continue to undertake surveillance on their partners from inside.
“It’s extraordinary,” said Barnes.
Barnes said the Find My iPhone app can alert people who suspect they are being surveilled.
“It gives you an alert if you are in close vicinity and moving with an AirTag that isn’t on your device.”
The Crime Commission has made a number of recommendations to government to reduce access to tracking devices. These include amending legislation to explicitly prohibit accessing tracking devices in AVO proceedings and regulating the sale of surveillance devices through licensing, recording device identifiers and customer particulars, and mandatory reporting of suspicious transactions.
A spokesperson for Police Minister Yasmin Catley said the government “will consider the findings and respond in due course”.
If you or someone you know is affected by sexual assault, domestic or family violence, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732.

23 an ending that really stuck with you?
54 favorite game developers?
57 ask anything you like; if someone is trying to make an extremely immersive world where the player really feels like they're having an impact on the setting, characters, and story, what are some aspects/mechanics that would really make you feel like you're a part of the world? what's something you wish you could do in the games you play?
23. an ending that really stuck with you?
I could copy my girlfriend's answer and point towards Mary Skelter 2 but for the sake of variety I'll say that I liked the ending of Wizardry 8 in that your quest is to acquire this reality-rewriting artifact and not only can you actually accomplish this but you can successfully use it to make the universe a better place as its new pantheon.
Not a lot of of games let you set your ambitions as high as "ascend to godhood and correct the inherent misery of reality". A lot of the time the people trying to do that are in the villain role and get branded as overly full of hubris for not just accepting that everything sucks forever.
So that stood out to me as unusual. I feel like a more normal RPG would have had the protagonists trying to stop someone working towards the goal you're pursuing to maintain the status quo.
54. favorite game developers?
As a rule I don't really do consumer loyalty or anything. I also know very well that even series I liked previously can change into something I no longer enjoy that much.
With that said, I think it's kind of miraculous in itself that Touhou is now on 19 mainline games and is seemingly (I still need to play the ones after 14) still good. A lot of other series jump the shark by game 3.
57 ask anything you like; if someone is trying to make an extremely immersive world where the player really feels like they're having an impact on the setting, characters, and story, what are some aspects/mechanics that would really make you feel like you're a part of the world?
One common factor in a lot of the games I consider immersive is that the world just keeps going on its own even when you're not interacting with it. You can see time pass and NPCs going on about their daily lives.
This type of world simulation is one of the things I aim for when running TTRPGs too. I found it enchanting since I first saw it in Ultima 7 (released back in 1992!) as a small child but Gothic 2 also did it really well.
This kind of thing is not so rare now but it really stood out to me when I first saw it, especially since I was too young and inexperienced with games to realize how limited it actually was.
Anyway, I think this bit may be very nearly mandatory for me to get truly immersed. I need the shopkeepers and such to do at least a little bit more than just stand in the same place at all times.
Other things that definitely seem to help:
1- A minimal UI that doesn't give you omniscient quest markers and the like. It should still have a journal or something to keep track of quests and information but no markers.
2- Rougher mapping, you can still have a GPS tracker if you must but making use of landmarks, signs, and directions to navigate rather than map markers helps you pay more attention to your surroundings.
If I can be sure I have fully explored an area and found everything there is to be found there by looking at the map and checking off markers we're in a bad place.
3- A high level of interactivity with the environment. For example, if you see a bed you should be able to lie down on it. If you see a stove you should be able to cook, and etc. This can end up feeling a lot more tactile and immersive than doing things like resting and crafting through abstracted menus.
4- The world itself needs to demand your attention. Part of this is just interesting worldbuilding, but game design that makes you watch what you do or say rather than just exhausting every dialogue option in every conversation can also make you be more cognizant of your position, your environment, and your goals. It should be possible to fail conversations if you are imprudent.
5- The less linear the better. If a game is highly linear then you are probably going to hit a point where you want to do something that isn't permitted much, much sooner than if you had a handful of reasonable options to pursue.
It's worst when the game forces you to do things you really don't want to do (such as working with a character you would rather kill) and gives you no way out through pure removal of agency, like preventing you from attacking the offending NPC or making them invulnerable. That kind of stuff highlights the artificiality of what you're being forced to do.
6- Ideally some emphasis on things that are not combat, such as dialogue trees and non-combat skills. It's also not enough to just slap a fishing minigame and some combat-centric crafting on it.
what's something you wish you could do in the games you play?
I think it would be really cool if there were more DRPGs that fully took advantage of their genre and introduced more mechanics for long-term dungeon delves rather than just following the (admittedly fun) Wizardry formula where you balance pushing deeper into the dungeon with returning to town to resupply and recover.
What I'm thinking is more like Ultima Underworld or Legend of Grimrock. Something without a safe starting town you can return to, forcing you to instead make use of your skills in order to survive in the dungeon, which should ideally be a dynamic place with multiple different factions controlling territory and possibly being in conflict with other another, with you having the option to interact peacefully with them and maybe even join or ally yourself with a faction.
I think that would really elevate a dungeon crawl and give it more character and thought compared to just filling in the map and going down to the next floor.

A perfect match?
A perfect match? - Masterlist
Everything was different when you opened your eyes. Everything was different once again. Without knowing where you were, you sat up, rubbed your tired eyes and took a look around you. A pair of bright green eyes starred back at you through the dark. Hearing a deep rumbling voice saying that everything is fine now , you felt a shiver run down your spine and everything turned. The darkness welcomed you back once again…
Series warning: ABO Dynamics, Smut, Unprotected PIV , Scenting, Knotting, Language, age gap, Claiming, Breeding Kink
Chapter 2: Where Am I?
Summary: Y/N describes the situation in the care facility leading up to her “choosing ceremony”
Chapter warning: Angst, ABO Dynamics
Word count: 0.9k
~ taglist: @niiight-dreamerrrr ~
You woke up disoriented and in a strange place, everything smelled different and it was cold, really cold. A shiver immediately ran down your spin caused by the discomfort as well. As soon as your eyes adjusted to the dark you looked around and took in the room around you.
The walls were plain, made from cement. You were laying on a very hard and uncomfortable bed, right across from you was a toilet and that was it. Discovering that your right foot was chained to the metal bedpost when you stood up, you sat back down and put your face in your hands. A silent cry left your lips.
Ever since your first heat you knew this moment was inevitable. You had talked about it with your parents, your brother and thought about it enough. But you never thought it would come so soon and that you didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to your parents. You are sure that you would never see any of your family members again. Your parents were traitors and will either serve the rest of their life in prison or be killed. After a young Omega presented for the first time the state their Alpha was born in automatically became their owner. But only up until an Alpha came to claim the young Omega and then the Omega would automatically become their possession. With your parents leaving the country and you being born somewhere else you technically still belonged to the state of Texas. Not coming back after your first heat your parents knew that the Law Enforcement Agencies would be searching for you everywhere and that you were living on borrowed time. You felt responsible for your parents fate…
Your thoughts were interrupted when the door opened and the light was turned on. You held a hand up to your eyes and then looked at the people that entered the room. There was a tall Alpha man in a white coat, a Doctor and two Beta women who seemed to be nurses. The man smiled at you and introduced himself, afterwards explaining the protocol and what he would be examining. You just looked at him silently, your mind drifting back to your parents every now and then but still following the Doctors orders. He let you take off all your clothes, examined your mating gland, as well as your vagina and your hymen to note that you were still a virgin and unclaimed. You felt extremely exposed, like a lost child searching for their mother.
After the doctor was done with your appointment, as the nurses called it, he gave you a shot never explaining what for. You came to find out it’s a GPS tracker.
The nurses gave you a mid length white dress to wear and then undid the chain on your foot. You were told to braid your hair in pigtails and then taken to a room.
Said room had two bunk beds, two dressers and a table with four chairs on one wall. At the end of the room there was a window. Outside you saw a lot of trees, so you assumed you were taken into a forest. The nurses said your roommates would come very soon and left you afterwards.
Shortly after two girls entered the room. A tall girl with red straight hair, a foxy face and a lot of freckles, her name was Fate was the first one to enter. She was followed by a shorter girl with darker skin, brown eyes and very curly hair. Her name was Presley.
The three of you sat down and started talking how you got there. Presley and Fate enjoyed your story a lot and were really excited to hear about all the stories you could tell and the place you have been to. Fate had been in a care facility for Omegas ever since she was 7 years old and Presley was born into a big clan but her mother then gave her to the facility because she didn’t want her to live in the Harem. You soon came to learn that their former two roommates were taken away to a “choosing ceremony” and then claimed and taken away.
Presley, Fate and you grew really close over the next year and did everything together. Cooking, exercising, learning, attending classes. You learned about cooking and baking which you enjoyed a lot, as well as housekeeping, child care and basic finances - anything that could be useful to your Alpha.
Nearing your 18th birthday the nurse’s and doctor’s appointments became more frequent and you had a class to prep you for your choosing ceremony. Upon first entering they gave you immune suppressants so that you wouldn’t get another heat until your Alpha was ready for you. The nurse made you get a hair cut: Your long (Y/H/C) was cut until above shoulder length with some nice waves which framed your face very well and you didn’t regret it too much.
Presley then went through her first choosing ceremony but came back afterwards to tell you all about it. The same happened to Fate and she was chosen and didn’t come back. You really hope that she got a nice, good looking Alpha that will treat her well. The same happened to Fate and only you were left until you were picked for your first “choosing ceremony”…

Stranger Danger in the Digital Age: How Kidsnav Smartwatches Promote Safety in the UK?
Tumblr media
The digital age has transformed the way our children interact with the world. While technology offers incredible benefits, it also presents new safety concerns for parents in the UK. Stranger danger remains a significant worry, but how do we protect our kids in a world that extends beyond the playground?
Kidsnav Smartwatches: A Modern Solution to an Age-Old Concern
Tracker watches for kids, like those offered by Kidsnav, can be a valuable tool for promoting safety in the UK. These kids smart watch gps devices go beyond simply telling time. They are equipped with features that provide parents with peace of mind and empower children with a sense of security:
GPS Tracking : Know your child’s whereabouts in real-time with built-in GPS technology. Kids gps watch uk models allow you to define safe zones and receive alerts if your child wanders outside these boundaries.
Two-Way Communication: Make and receive calls directly on the smartwatch, providing a direct line of communication for emergencies or check-ins.
SOS Button: Equip your child with a discreet way to call for help in case of an emergency. A single press of the SOS button can send an alert notification to pre-programmed contacts.
Beyond Location Tracking: Building Confidence and Responsibility
Kids smart watch uk models often come with additional features that promote responsibility and build confidence in children:
Step Counter and Games: Encourage healthy habits and physical activity with built-in step counters and interactive games.
Educational Apps: Some smartwatches offer access to educational apps, fostering learning and exploration in a safe digital environment.
Choosing the Right Kidsnav Smartwatch:
The UK market offers a variety of child gps tracker options. When choosing a Kidsnav smartwatch, consider your child’s age, maturity level, and your specific needs.
The Power of Communication and Awareness
Stranger danger education remains an essential part of keeping children safe. Kidsnav smartwatches are a valuable tool, but they should complement open communication and safety awareness instilled by parents.
By combining these elements, parents in the UK can empower their children to navigate the digital age with confidence while ensuring their safety in a world that extends beyond the familiar boundaries of the playground.

Okay, here is a mean one. How do you think the Horseman would react if anything happened to their kids, and how would that affect their relationship with each other and their significant other?
So…when I get these messages on my phone, I can really only see the first line. “Here’s a mean one…” I about had a heart attack thinking of the drama I was about to open. It was a huge sigh of relief to see this.
I think Kai it best when talking to Tavi. “Your parents wouldn’t be happy if you cracked your little skull open…Your dad wouldn’t be able to take it.” And then there was the whole kidnapping thing and murdering thing…anyway...
This is true for all of them. Each of these parents are devoted to their children. It’s not unusual for parents to find it difficult to stay together after losing a child, but I don’t think that’s the case here. All of the couples would stay together. As before, the only thing that could separate them at this point is death.
Michael, I think would become even more strict and obsessed with safety. Similar to how he was in HA with Rika – constantly wanting to know where she was, who she was with, who Kai was letting around her. Catch him implanting GPS trackers on all his remaining family and hiring security detail just to go to and from school and work.
Rika, a bit more reasonable but still sick with pain. However, they are an unusual case. Total headcanon, but considering Rika’s issues with conceiving, it’s more than likely that before they got Aaron, they had at least one miscarriage. I’m not sure if they would have told the group, but it’s possible Rika and Michael have already lost a child that they very much wanted.
Together, Michael would pull away from Rika at first. He needs to process the loss on his own and figure out which steps he needs to take to move his family forward. This is a problem, because Rika will let him pull away. At the same time, she'll try to deal with things on her own. They could risk pulling in different directions. Of all the couples, they're the ones most likely to let the death of either Aaron or Athos divide them.
Kai thinks he’s owed certain things because he came from a good home and “listened” to guidance. Losing a child would be another injustice in his eye, and he'd respond with an anger his friends hadn't ever seen before. In his view, he's worked hard for a good life, and suffered enough. That should count for something. He would lash out at his friends, probably for a while. I see a darkness settling on Kai that would never go away if he lost either of his children. He'd developing an even harder shell to get around. Think of what Michael experienced in Corrupt with him, times, like, 100.
Banks would be hard too. I see her as being very protective of her children. She’s worked so hard to get to the point she’s at where she’s happy, to have that taken way might kill something inside her. She doesn't open up with people; she doesn't want to hear pathetic attempts at sympathy, especially if the person didn't know either of her children. However, I also think she’ll find a way to stand tall. This might the area she does better than Kai, because she can at least deal with not getting everything she wants, having dealt with it all her life. Her fury is quiet, but it's there. She just swallows it better.
Together, they're stronger. While Kai is shut down with is friends and family, he is able to open up with Banks. In return, Banks doesn't see him as weak, but instead her strengthen. They talk about how they're feeling. They share memories. They hold each other. They're emotions are for them to know and not for others. Separating never even comes up in their minds.
If Kai’s anger makes him cold, Damon’s anger makes him an inferno. He’d be full of rage towards the world. In turn, he'd cling even more to what remains in his control. Damon doesn't claim to have a favorite, and while the loss of any of his children would be devastating, Ivar and Tavi are especially close to him. He might go a little insane if something happened to them. If it was one of his middle son's, still insane, but able to handle it a smidgen better.
Winter would be able to accept comfort and help from others, but her main concern would be keeping Damon from going off the rails and monitoring how her remaining children are dealing with the loss of their sibling. They are, after all, all Damon's offspring and as she has learned, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree where the Torrance's are concerned.
Together, Damon would never let Winter go. Even on their worst days, when he's angry and lashing out and she's shutting down, refusing to let him in, they work through it. Sometimes working through it is using blunt force, where they scream at each other about their loss and then end up having rough sex as a form of comfort. However, they never blame the other for what happened.
Emmy might be a little lost for a while. She'd find it difficult to focus at work, her projects would fall behind. Little things would throw her off, and she push back any comfort offered to her, shutting people out. She'll bounce back eventually, because she knows her life didn't end, and she's still has others depending on her to be a great mom. Still, a part of her might wonder of why she specifically had to deal with so much death. If she didn't have a complex already, this might give her one.
Will would have to level-up to provide both physical and moral support in ways he didn't before. He'd feel it was his duty to keep her from going overboard in her grief, while also dealing with is own. He would lean heavily on others for help, support, and comfort, and he'd do this without seeing it as a weakness.
Together, Will would struggle at first with just how hard Emmy was shutting him out, and how hard to push against her walls. In his logic, she's done this before; she knows her process, so he should let her go through her process of grief. It may even appear to others that they're at a breaking point. At times, Will might fear that he's lost her, and Emmy might momentarily give up the fight. But Will refuses to let her go and Emmy will accept him, knowing she can't push him out and survive this.
love to know your thoughts and headcanons

hello!! congrats for 500 followers, you’re doing really great!
i saw that there’re still some slots open, may i request "You'll regret this! They'll come looking for me!" for idia? thank you 💕
🥺thankies! here comes a weeb~
Tumblr media
The confidence of rich kids these days.
"Not before they hand over the ransom for you." You scratch your ear, already fed up with having to deal with this whiney baby.
Idia Shroud. The heir to the Tartarus labs is quite an enigma.
When he first regained conciousness from the tranquilizer, he burst into tears on the spot and started babbling something about being 'isekaied' and 'this was how side characters died' whatever the hell that meant. In all of your line of work, he certainly was the weirdest hostage you've had to guard.
"Ortho should be equipped to find me, he has the latest GPS trackers and heat source finders…" He mutters sullenly. His unruly fiery hair curls and flickers around him, reacting to his current temperment.
"That'll be the boss's problem then, not mine." You lean against the gray concrete wall.
"...Huh? Aren't you all working together like some mafia gang or something?" His eyes swivel to you and stays, making you shift uncomfortably.
"I'm just a mercenary. I only do the work laid out in the specs and nothing more." You blow a piece of hair out of your eyes. "Even I don't know why my employer is ransoming you, pretty boy."
He starts stuttering and flushing a bright vivid pink that dyes into his hair, which flares like fire. "P-pretty boy!?"
The innocent sight almost makes you smile. It's as if he's never even thought he could be attractive to others. Shame he's a hostage. He could've done wonders as an eye candy piece.
A commotion outside catches your ear and you turn just as the door next to you explodes open, sending debris flying everywhere. You settle into a defensive stance with your hand on your baton as a shadow flies forward.
"Brother!! Thank Seven you're safe!" A robot like child surges forward to free the man from his shackles. The puzzle pieces click together in your mind. This must be the Ortho the man kept muttering about. The kid turns to you, already on guard and ready to attack.
"Idia, is this…?"
Your peripheral shows the trail of destruction wrought behind the kid. It seems rather clear that your boss and whoever might be within the base would not be coming to your backup.
Before you can launch your teleportation circle, you're already restrained by metallic ropes, conjured out of nowhere. It seems that escape is futile at the moment, as more men flood in the destroyed room.
"Sir! What should we do with this guard?" Talk about bad luck. Seems you'll have to go through another stint in prision. Maybe if you pull some strings in your network–
"Leave them to me." You blink. And then again. What? The kid next to Shroud also furrows his eyebrows in confusion.
"What are you going to do with them?" His brother pays him no heed, and your skin crawls with the way his golden eyes dissect your being.
"Just…a bit curious. I've been wanting a toy lately."

MADISON – Wisconsinites convicted of multiple counts of a sex offense will be required to register as sex offenders for life even if the counts were part of the same incident, under a bill signed by Gov. Tony Evers.
The law effectively nullifies a 2023 state Supreme Court ruling holding that multiple convictions stemming from the same criminal complaint do not necessarily classify someone as a repeat offender. The governor's signature brings resolution to a question officials have debated for years.
In a 4-3 decision, the court ruled in May 2023 that "the plain and ordinary meaning of 'separate occasions' does not refer solely to the number of convictions" in consideration of whether lifetime registration is required for an offender.
"It is undisputable that all sex offenses covered by the sex offender registration statutory scheme are heinous in nature, thus necessitating the use of the registry for the protection of the public. However, within that scheme, the legislature, not this court, made policy decisions regarding which offenders are categorically required to comply with registration requirements for life and which are required to comply for 15 years," Justice Jill Karofsky wrote in the majority decision.
The case involved Corey T. Rector, who pleaded guilty in 2018 to five counts of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced to eight years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision on each of the five counts, to be served concurrently, and was ordered to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
The case made its way to the state's high court after the state Department of Corrections requested in 2019 that Rector's sex offender status be changed to a lifetime registration because he had been convicted of more than two sex offenses, relying on a formal opinion issued in 2017 by Republican then-Attorney General Brad Schimel.
Schimel issued the opinion in response to a request from then-DOC Secretary Jon Litscher, who had asked whether the state's "special bulletin notification" statute applied to offenders with multiple criminal convictions that occurred at the same time or stemmed from the same criminal complaint.
State law requires people who are convicted of a sex offense (or found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect) on two or more separate occasions to be classified as "special bulletin notification" (SBN) offenders, who trigger notification of law enforcement when they change addresses. These offenders are subject to lifetime GPS monitoring.
Schimel's opinion was that "separate occasions" referred to the number of convictions, "including multiple convictions imposed at the same time and based on the same complaint."
Evers' signature codifies Schimel's interpretation in state law, negating the court's 2023 ruling. It will apply retroactively, and offenders who were previously released from the registry will be notified that they must re-register.
The bill's opponents included a number of prison reform groups and the State Public Defender's office.
The agency's legislative liaison, Adam Plotkin, argued judges should have the discretion to determine whether an offender should be required to register for 15 years or for the rest of their life.
In testimony before a Senate committee last month, Plotkin noted that malfunctioning devices or poor cellular service expose offenders to potential felony charges for removal or tampering with a GPS tracker, and argued the policy would ultimately reduce the public safety benefit of registration and monitoring.
"If everyone is considered a risk to the point of lifetime monitoring, it dilutes the efficacy of tracking those that a court determined are of higher risk based on the individual facts of that case," he said.
The proposal was drafted in consultation with the Department of Corrections, whose legislative adviser Anna Neal testified that the agency was concerned the Supreme Court's Rector ruling "is not reflective of communities' and law enforcement's expectations regarding notice and monitoring of sex offender registrants."
"The Rector decision may limit or reduce the notifications law enforcement agencies receive from the Department regarding the release of individuals who have been convicted of multiple counts and the Department's ability to require GPS tracking of these individuals," Neal said.
