My grades, for various sitcoms. If you're curious (you're probably not, lol).
A: Abbott Elementary
A-: That 70s Show, Modern Family, Everybody Hates Chris, The Office, Lizzie McGuire
B+: Young Sheldon, Friends (because of Ross/Ross and Rachel), Wizards of Waverly Place
C: Full House. I loved this show as a kid, but it's not that good, looking back at it. And Big Bang Theory, because I hate adult Sheldon so much.
*****
If you wanna join, and grade some shows you've watched (to at least some extent), go right ahead. Not just sitcoms, either. Grade what you want.:)
I hereby tag @bosesmikas, @tht70sblog, @randomwriter23, @kissandships, @winnie-the-monster, @scaponigifs, @those70scomics, and whoever wants to join. :)

Holly’s Uncles
Holly Beecher had three uncles, just like Casper, as she once told her dad. Technically she had her father’s actual brother, but the man was totally useless as an uncle. He wasn’t wise or fun or sweet. He just sort of was. Holly loved him, she guessed, but not for any reason. Not like her other uncles. She drew a picture of their family one time, and even though her drawing had two daddies, what really drew the teacher’s attention was the three men standing in the background. Holly was called to stay after school with Mrs. Penney.
“Holly… honey… I know who these two are, and I’m so happy you felt comfortable sharing you have two daddies with the class…” she phrased this as delicately as possible. “Who are these… fellas?”
“Those are my uncles.” Holly answered as if it was obvious. “Uncle Ryan, Uncle Cyril, and Uncle Kareem.”
“Oh… are they your fathers’ brothers?” She asked, noting the skin color on ‘uncle Kareem’. Holly shook her head. Mrs. Penney was so smart, but she was being so dumb right now.
“No, they were in Oz with my dads.”
“…Oz?”
“The prison.” She clarified, already bored with this conversation and picking at her blue nail polish. Mrs. Penney looked concerned. (We’re mandated reporters, people, and kids say a LOT of stuff…) “They’re not bad though. Any of them. Sometimes Uncle Ryan is a jerk though and Pop has to talk to him.”
“They were in prison with both your fathers?” She repeated, flabbergasted. “Holly… could you tell me about your uncles?”
“What do you want to know?”
“Do they ever get angry with you?”
Holly thought for a second and shook her head.
“No.” She thought another second. “Uncle Ryan once told me not to take Uncle Cyril to the park alone though. He was upset but he didn’t yell at me or anything.”
“Why was he upset? Are you allowed to be alone with Uncle Cyril?” Mrs. Penney was taking notes now, best of intentions in her heart, trying to gauge if there was anything worth being concerned about. She knew about Holly’s brother’s murder, and about her father’s alcoholism, but not about the uncles from prison. Holly was a great kid who already saw too much of life.
“Of course I am! He’s my uncle!” Holly said incredulously, not picking up that her teacher was already mentally pressing that little panic button. “But other people don’t understand Uncle Cyril. Other people just think he’s dumb. He’s not dumb though. He’s really smart and so so funny. And he always shares his candies with me, even if it’s right before dinner. He saves me the green apple and watermelon ones, ‘cause they’re my favorites.”
“Tell me about Uncle Cyril. Why do people think he’s dumb?”
“Because he’s redarted.”
“Re-darted?”
“That’s what I hear people call him. Like ‘hey redart’ and all that and daddy said that’s not nice to say. I think it means dumb, but like I said, he’s not dumb.”
Retarded.
“Oh.” Her teacher audibly gasped when she understood. “I didn’t know… ‘re-darted’ people were allowed in Oz.”
“Yeah, Uncle Kareem says it’s a broken system that needs to be burnt to the ground as the voices of the oppressed rise up like a phoenix from the ashes.” Holly blinked and noticed something on Mrs. Penney’s desk; “can I have a lollipop?”
Mrs. Penney was shocked that she heard what she heard from a child’s mouth.
“Your uncle wouldn’t happen to be-“
“Kareem Said. Yeah, that’s him, but he’s not as scary as he seems on TV.”
Mrs. Penney laughed a little at Holly’s candor.
“Is he kind to you?”
“Of course he is. He’s my godfather too. Uncle Kareem always makes time for me, even if he’s really really busy. One time Mr. Arif -I don’t like him, he’s mean- was saying he needed to spend time with his own kind and uncle Kareem was all like ‘she is my kind because she is one who strives for peace and justice’ and I thought that was so cool! He takes me for ice cream every Sunday and reads a prayer from the Koran every night when he comes over. He even talks to Daddy when he’s sad about Mom and Gary.”
Mrs. Penney was smiling a little now. She couldn’t imagine someone as serious as Kareem Said being a goofy uncle with Holly. Holly kept going on and on about how Uncle Kareem played dress up with her one time and he was prince Eric so she could be the little mermaid, holding her up in front of a sprinkler so she could say “part of your… WORLD!” like Ariel. Uncle Ryan always holds her up on his shoulders at parades and helped her sneak extra chocolate chips into their pancakes, even if he could be rude. Uncle Cyril and her were apparently inseparable, Shari no candy and watching movies and building blanket forts. They had movie nights where her father projected cartoons onto a bedsheet, and they both loved Cyberchase, but they both didn’t like the Hacker, the villain. She talked about Uncle Cyril as one would an older brother.
There was a knock on the doorframe. Mrs. Penney turned to see one of the men from Holly’s drawing.
“Uncle Kareem!” She rushed over to him and threw herself in his arms. He accepted it openly, loving his goddaughter more than anything in this world. He regarded the teacher.
“We were waiting for Holly outside,” he shook Mrs. Penney’s hand. “Was she held back for a reason?”
Mrs. Penney showed him the drawing, and watched as his face split into a huge, genuine smile. He tousled her hair.
“I had questions about Holly’s uncles. I’m happy she has so many people in her life that love her.” Mrs. Penney explained. “I wanted to know the names of the men in the picture.”
“She was asking me lots of questions about you and Uncle Ryan and Uncle Cyril. Like if you’re ever mean to me and stuff.” Holly shrugged, sucking on the green apple Lolly pop given to her by Mrs. Penney. Her teacher blushed and turned to Kareem Said, who was still smiling.
“Our family doesn’t look like many others.” He put his arm around Holly’s shoulder. “But we love just as hard and as strong as any other.”
“That much is clear.” Mrs. Penney admitted. “As I said, I’m happy Holly has so many people who love her.”
“She truly does.” Kareem shook her hand and guided Holly outside to where two other men were waiting by a car. She watched out the window as Holly launched herself into the blonde man’s arms, and how the other man had squeezed her arm and kissed her forehead. Mrs. Penney smiled beside herself. Holly had lost a mom, a brother, and a grandfather to Oz, so it was nice to see she walked away with a few more members of her family, not just fewer.
Holly Beecher had three uncles, just like Casper, and each one of them loved her to the moon and back.

Photo Credit: New Jersey Devils/Andrew Maclean New York, NY — For the first time this season, the Devils walked into “the world’s most famous arena” and skated the New York Rangers off the ice at Madison Square Garden with a convincing 5-1 victory. The stars for the Devils showed up, but the Rangers, they’ve been dealing with a lot of chaos internally and just got run out of their own building…

the guys on the big bang theory are celebrating columbus day by watching the goonies gremlins and young sherlock holmes. because they're all written by chris columbus. leonard don't make me hate you now we are 3 seasons in and i'm committed why would you say something that would make me lose all the fleeting respect i had for you.
#me personally i think chris columbus is a hack who should kill himself but whatever#and i stand with sheldon on the gremlins thing. literally the instructions could not be more clear how hard can it possibly be...#anyway. HATE being reminded of what men think passes for good cinema. bleak!

VISIONS OF MANDALORE- DREAM CAST
Hi, I am still alive, and I am here ready to bring my dream cast for Visions of Mandalore if it ever gets the chance to become a show or a movie (which will never happen, I know). Anyways, here is the first part of the cast for the Kryze family (ft. Obi Wan)
Satine Kryze interpreted by:
McKenna Grace or Dove Cameron

***
Obi Wan Kenobi interpreted by:
Walker Scobell, Sebastian Croft, or Jaren Lewison

***
Bo Katan Kryze interpreted by:
Raegan Revord or Sadie Sink

***
Adonai Kryze (Satine and Bo's dad) interpreted by:
Brad Pitt, Chris Evans, or Ewan McGregor

***
Erica Kryze (Satine and Bo's mom) interpreted by:
Emma Stone, Evangeline Lily, or Virginia Kull

Keep in mind that Satine, Obi, and Bo are teenagers in this story, which is why the actors I chose were young-ish.
Also, PLEASE give me suggestions on who else could be on the dream cast, and suggest any teen/young actors who can easily interpret Bo Katan or Satine (and also Obi Wan) since this took SO LONG too make.
I know Ewan as Satine's dad may seem criminal since Ewan will forever be known as Obi Wan, but I just can't really picture anyone else playing Duke Adonai because Ewan just resembles him so well.
The next part will include Qui Gon and people from Clan Vizsla, who will be in the next part of the story.
(btw, Erica Kryze is my OC for mama Kryze)

Garbage - Push It 1998
"Push It" is a song by Scottish and American rockband Garbage, released as the lead single from their second studio album, Version 2.0 (1998). Lead singer Shirley Manson elaborated on the song's dreamy verse structure versus the confrontational chorus: "[It's about] the schizophrenia that exists when you try to reconcile your desires and demons with the need to fit in. It's a song of reassurance". The track contains a musical quotation of the Beach Boys' 1964 song "Don't Worry Baby". In 2007, "Push It" was remixed for Garbage's greatest hits album Absolute Garbage; some elements were made more noticeable, while some elements were reduced or edited out.
"Push It" debuted at number 9 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the band's third top-10 single. It peaked at number 2 in Iceland, number 5 in Spain, number 14 in Finland, and number 15 in New Zealand. It reached number 38 on the European Hot 100 Singles chart, number 6 on the European Radio Top 50 chart, and number 5 on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart. In 1999, the song was featured in the intro video of EA Sports' PlayStation/PC ice hockey video game NHL 2000. In 2007, Chris Sheldon remixed a rock version of "Push It" which was playlisted by XFM prior to the release of Absolute Garbage.
The music video, directed by Italian photographer Andrea Giacobbe, was nominated for eight MTV Video Music Awards. It was also up for one MTV Europe Music Award for Best Video. A year later, Garbage were the leading nominee for the MVPA Music Video Awards industry event, with six nominations shared between the videos for "Push It" and "Special". Gina Monaci and Jeff Judd won the award for Best Make-Up in a Music Video for their work on "Push It".
"Push It" received a total of 74,2% yes votes! Previous Garbage polls: #356 "I Think I'm Paranoid".

What modern movie would you love to zip back in time to be "rebooted" in Old School style?
Oh incredible ask. I'm not super knowledgeable on modern movies but let's have fun pretending that via time machine, we are now getting:
Avengers: Endgame (1963)
After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (1962), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, Captain America (Burt Lancaster), Iron Man (Dean Martin), Thor (William Shatner), the Incredible Hulk (Paul Newman), Black Widow (Nancy Kwan), Hawkeye (Peter Falk), Black Panther (Sidney Poitier), Captain Marvel (Natalie Wood), Spider Man (Frankie Avalon), and more assemble again in order to restore balance to the universe.
Jurassic World (1943)
A sequel to Jurassic Park (1993), a movie that hasn't yet been made, this movie sees the creation of a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex (modeled by Willis O'Brien), which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree. Joel McCrea stars in the Chris Pratt role; Barbara Stanwyck is Bryce Dallas Howard.
Frozen (1957)
Eyvind Earle brings the same angular, medievalist touch that he would use with such great success on Sleeping Beauty to this beautifully hand drawn classic. Pearl Bailey voices Elsa, the wounded snow queen, with Dorothy Dandridge as Anna, Rock Hudson as Kristoff, and Sterling Holloway as Olaf.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (1931)
Four teenagers are sucked into a magical Kinetoscope, and the only way they can escape is to work together to finish the short film. Their magical avatars are Dr. Bravestone (Noble Johnson), Moose Finbar (Bill Robinson), Ruby Roundhouse (Anna May Wong), and Dr. Sheldon "Shelly" Oberon (Claude Rains).

How did you see that your senators assisted Booker by asking questions? I'm trying to find a list of who joined in and failing.
Someone on Bluesky linked this senate website that has what essentially amount to minutes for each day they're in session. You'll have to go a page or two back to find the folks who spoke up with questions during Booker's filibuster, but it should be everyone.
For those uninterested in digging through the Senate minutes, however, I've done my best to put together a list. Forgive me if I managed to miss anyone though.
Arizona - Mark Kelly California - Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff Colorado - Michael Bennet Connecticut - Scott Murphy and Richard Blumenthal Delaware - Lisa Blunt Rochester and Christopher Coons Georgia - Raphael Warnock Hawaii - Mazie Hirono Illinois - Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin Maine - Angus King Maryland - Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks Massachusetts - Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren Minnesota - Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar New Hampshire - Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan New Jersey - Andy Kim New Mexico - Ben Ray Luján New York - Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer Nevada - Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen Oregon - Ron Wyden Rhode Island - Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed Vermont - Peter Welch Virginia - Mark Warner and Time Kaine Washington - Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell Wisconsin - Tammy Baldwin
I'm definitely planning on writing my senators to thank them, and would encourage anyone whose representatives were also involved to do the same. On the one hand, the filibuster itself hasn't materially changed anything, but on the other, it's still a more overt act of resistance to the current state of things than we've been seeing thus far, and I know it's the kind of thing I want to see more of from my representatives. I can only hope if we encourage this more aggressive stance from the Democrats, it will pay off in the long term.

So i’ve been trying to figure out how to articulate this, over the past couple of days and I think i got it together finally.
So a few days ago i reblogged a post/ commented on it and the post was basically about how people say The accountant isn’t good Autistic representation. As someone who is autistic let me explain why it’s better representation and why his character isn’t just about his autism.
This movie falls into the same category as the show’s heart break high. Quinni and Christian are both autistic but their characters are not just based on their autism. Not like how Young sheldon or The good doctor just base the autism as the only trait the character has.
Plus Quinni and christian are more then there autism. This is mostly just about Christian so let’s talk about it, if you genuinely pay attention to the movie and the flashbacks it explains more on Christian character.
At the beginning we see his parents talking to a man at the institute, as the scene goes on the doctor asks “we would like to keep him (Christian) here to help him adjust “ his dad says no stating “ the world isn’t a sensory friendly place and he needs to get used to it “ and he will help chris get used to it
Chris father was in the military, they moved 34 times up until i think he was 17, then we find out how his father treated him and his brother, they were trained like soldiers, we also find out Christian was in jail, he has been canonically tortured. So before you go around saying “oh he isn’t great autistic representation “ maybe think his autism isn’t his whole character .
#elwoods words#the accountant 2#the accountant#christian wolff#ben affleck#i personally think he’s good#repsentaion#but that’s just me
