those are all transformation curse stories; werewolves usually are but sometimes aren't, so there's some overlapping themes and theories of monsterhood but also different ones (for example i find werewolf monsterfuckery a lot more resonant than i'm ever going to find it for beauty and the beast). but to be frank i think i may just be a furry

Creepypasta is inherently cringy. It's foundations are built on the backs of mentally ill teens and young adults from the late 2000s-2010s. Of course it's self indulgent, we were suffering and needed escapism. Of course some of the portrayals of mental illnesses are less than perfect, we were navigating an ableist world while struggling with said illnesses. Hell, many of us were being abused and the idea of a found family made it so we could make it through another day.

I've been in the creepypasta fandom since I was a little girl. 9 years old, in fact, 2009. The dawn of ARGs becoming popular. I've only recently began creating content because I felt the community has matured enough that if someone didn't like what I did, they'd move on rather than rant and rave over how garbage my art is. That's mostly the case. Mostly.

See, I'm seeing a rise in "mature" portrayals of these characters. Not NSFW "mature", that's always been there. I mean supposedly gritty, realistic, "made for adults" kind of spins. It'd be fine if the people doing it weren't fucking trampling on the heritage of the community in the process. We're a goofy community, and the slenderman is our dad that makes us waffles. We write bullshit, but still entertaining stories about serious topic, then put those characters in goddamn tutus. You can have your cake and eat it too. You just don't have to be unpleasant about it.

My favorite example of this duality is @carnalhaus 's Nine Jeff. His story is heartachingly sad, it's fairly realistic, it's got mature and NSFW themes at times, and yet... we've got art of him in a cat maid outfit. And it's fantastic. The duality of this fandom is what makes it so great. Shunning one part in favor for the other is just a fundamental misunderstanding of the media. Being all high and mighty about how "mature" and "realistic" your interpretation is isn't unique. It's sad.

As we go into Season 6, I am reminded of the person who, at the end of S4, posted untagged spoilers less than 24 hours after the season dropped, and when I pointed it out, told me basically to go fuck myself and made it clear they gave zero shits about others in the fandom. In the memory of that great, big fucking asshole, let's all remember that others don't have the privilage that comes with binging a show on day one. They may have school, or work, or caring responsibilities, or were just not in the right headspace in that moment to watch the show. Let's be good fandom citizens and remember to tag spoilers for at least a little while after the show drops, and be less like the fucking prick who spoiled the end of s4 for me 😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️

since I've been making so many citizen memes lately here are the headcanons I came up with for how megapolis/the general public views the plot

pigsy's noodles is the waffle house of megapolis. there are like 2 dozen yin & jin level demons who routinely start shit and pigsy's noodles will stay open through all of them. you only need to be worried about demons when they close early

coincidentally, the pigsy's noodles delivery app will always show the driver heading straight towards danger. there are several conspiracies that the driver is the monkie kid (no one believes them)

the "mayor" actually did assume government office and no one liked him. the editorials in the papers were scathing and he was always in those hideous political cartoons

the jttw fandom discourse was INSANE after the monkie kid appeared. everything is rpf now. everyone on twitter is getting cancelled. new fans who joined because of mk and dbk are getting dragged through the mud. november 5th of megapolis fr

mk has a sizeable following of hardcore fans from edits of shitty news footage. same with dbk. these groups duke it out online daily

mei's streams are legendary for always capturing current events (especially with lbd because you bet the mayor was doing media coverups)
