I just finished Clarice and I went into it with no expectation that I would like it but I actually did, yes it suffers from network tv detective show disease but it also talks about race and transphobia and giving "victims" agency. I could talk for hours about Ardelia Mapp and about Julia Lawson. 'Clarice and Ardelia' was so well written and I really wish they had been given more seasons in which to develop the Black Coalition plot and to see how Clarice and Ardelia's relationship came out the other side. And it doesn't need to be said but to find out how Clarice goes from this point in the story to walking away with Hannibal willingly. Maybe in this universe Ardelia and Clarice stay together and Hannibal isn't anything more than a nightmare, a cold case. However the story would have ended I just wish I had been able to see it.

I’m enjoying The X Files very much, with the usual reservations for older media (the general “what if Bill Cooper was right?” mytharc throughline, the treatment of race, the weird amount of prison rape jokes even by 1990s standards) but the downside is that I’ll watch a mediocre period procedural set in the 1990s attempting a very serious arc about an evil corporate coverup (CBS Clarice, I wish you were good, I wish you were good so fucking hard, but you are so bad) and be cursed with visions of it as an X Files two-parter.

cw's walker cancelled: fans rejoiced upon hearing the cancellation news for jared's post-supernatural show, walker, a remake of "walker texas ranger." in addition to generally being a copaganda show for the notoriously racist texas rangers, jared's inspiration for the show's direction caused much concern. the actor himself said the show was inspired by the US border crisis, not by the immigrant families affected by the separation and internment, but instead wanting exploring the POV of the law enforcement agents working at the border and the moral dilemmas they had to face (x)

Hello, first of all I’d like to thank you for being such a massive treasure trove for the Hannibal fandom. You’ve made things very easy to navigate and understand. I came across your “Hannibal Rights” post but noticed it was posted in 2016. A lot has happened since then including the loss of the beloved and legendary Martha De Laurentiis in 2021 who owned many rights. Do you by chance have an update for all the rights as of current in 2024?

I don't have any new info, frankly. I think the only thing about the rights situation that was confirmed after I wrote that post was that Bryan said at some point that whoever did pick up the show would have to play with Gaumont when it came to production, instead of or in addition to using their own studio, so that's a bit of a hurdle.

According to the DLC website, Dina de Laurentiis and Ed Wacek are running DLC at the moment. I don't know anything about them.

Apparently there's a tabletop RPG in the works now? So there's that.

Since the Clarice TV show at CBS didn't make the shift to Paramount+, it's likely those rights are still held primarily at MGM, with whatever original characters from that show now held by CBS. It's possible CBS might have a say in acquiring any SotL characters now but I tend to doubt it given they didn't renew the series. But you never know.

Unless someone actually declares that they're making a new project, I don't think anything will change meaningfully.
