If Marinette, Max, and Nathaniel stayed up late working on design/tech/art projects, you are to give them a shot of coffee. Just enough to stay up during class, but not too much to cause anarchy and make it everyone else’s problem

Do not touch Nino’s headphones. If he has a day where he wants to block out the rest of the world and you take his headphones, Alya, Adrien, Kim, and Marinette will make it your problem

There are to be fifteen stim toys in the classroom at all times. FIFTEEN

Do not scream, yell, or play music too loudly around Myléne

The words ‘Unexceptional,’ ‘Stupid,’ ‘Worthless,’ and ‘Disappointment’ are not allowed to be said in the classroom

If Juleka mumbles, she mumbles. Do not even think about getting upset when she yells after you tell her to raise her voice

Monopoly is forbidden, whether in board game or app form. If they insist on playing it, they must have adult supervision. No, M. Monlataing is not adult supervision

Nathaniel is allowed to draw during lessons. That is how he takes notes, and if you take away his note-taking sketchbook, Alix, Juleka, Rose, Marinette, and Marc will follow you home. If you’re one of those dress code nuts, Alya cannot help her natural curves, and you have no place to to call her out in the middle of class and claim that her curves are a distraction

If any of them are having a panic attack in the bathroom, screw gender and let their opposite sex friend or significant other help them

If Nathaniel starts yelling in Yiddish, don’t bother or interrupt him. Just don’t.

Spiders are not allowed in the classroom, and do not show images of spiders

Markov is sentient and therefore, shall be treated as a human. If you attempt to confiscate Markov, expect many angry family members

If Adrien sounds British, spray him with water

If Marc Anciel walks into the classroom saying Mme. Mendeleiev needs to speak to Nathaniel, do not let Nathaniel go with him

If Adrien gets called in the middle of a test for a photo shoot, do NOT let him go until he is done with his work. Actually, don’t let him leave during school hours, period

In addition to Rule 24, Nino has a binder with multiple incidents of Gabriel Agreste proving he is unfit to be a parent. If you witness Adrien being abused in any sort of way, please fill out one of the blank incident reports

Always. Ask. For Pronouns. And respect them.

There are at least two fidget toys per student in the bottom desk drawer. They are available for use at any time.

Do not send Brecken and Evie out of the classroom together. The same goes for Jesse and Anthony.

In a similar vein, if Reshma Leghari or Lacey Greene from Mme. Mendeliev's class asks for Margo, do not send her with them.

The words 'disappointment', 'idiot' and 'useless' are banned in this classroom.

The game UNO is absolutely forbidden under any circumstances. Not even with adult supervision.

If Eri begins to murmur to herself in Japanese, or Brecken in English, that's how they re-center, don't disturb them. (Eri also sometimes writes answers in Japanese, just translate them and grade the answer.)

Jesse's monocular vision sometimes makes seeing the board difficult. Have auditory supplements or notes with larger text ready for him.

Aggie is not allowed to go downstairs by herself. Neither is Eri.

If you are sending any AFAB students out of the classroom between 10:00am and 10:15am, make sure Brecken and/or Soo-Yeon accompanies them.

Evie cannot help her natural curves, so if you're a dress code freak, don't get on her case about wearing more layers.

If Jesse is having an anxiety attack and Anthony is not currently available, send someone for either Mylene Haprele or Jean DuParc.

Anais' mother is not allowed in the class. Neither is Evie's grandmother. (The same would apply for Jesse's father, if his ass wasn't behind bars where he belongs.)

If Dot takes out her binder of notes, you are to listen to what she has to say.

If Anais or Candace falls asleep in class, do not disturb them, but leave a small cup of coffee on the desk. They both need to rest.

If Mona begins to have one of her 'spacing' moments, have someone gently tap their shoulder and redirect her to the task.

Keep first aid supplies on hand for Soo-Yeon. The boy is a walking hazard to his own safety.

Ayesha leads a ten-minute meditation session each morning. DO NOT FORGET.

Never discuss grades in front of the class.

If you are having trouble understanding Margo or Aggie due to their accents, give them a hand signal and they will know to write it down. They'll understand, but don't make a scene of it.

During an akuma, you make sure everyone is accounted for.

The event made me think of what happened in Thirteen Storeys so I would love to hear your insight on this.

"Dang, look at those dark circles!" Ace whistled in admiration. "What kept you up all night?"

"Drums," you said plainly. You tried to throw your bookbag onto the lecture hall table. It slid across the surface and fell to the ground on the other side of the table. You didn't care.

Ace was kind enough to grab it for you despite his overflowing curiosity. "Drums? What's that mean?"

You took a deep breath. You needed oxygen in your brain. "It means someone gave Grim a miniature drum set and he played it all night."

"Ooooh." The two Heartslabyul students gawked in unison.

"That does sound awful," Deuce remarked. "Any idea who?"

"No." You grunted through gritted teeth and clenched your fist. "But when I find them..."

Several classrooms over, Kalim sneezed over his cauldron. He managed to turn at the last second and avoided contaminating the potion within.

"Ah! Is someone badmouthing me?" he mused. "I heard you sneeze when people talk behind your back."

"Don't be ridiculous." Jamil was ready with a fresh pocket tissue that he thrust towards Kalim. "I told you to put the gold dust in more carefully. Half of it wound up in the air, and you probably inhaled it."

"Haha!" Kalim felt reassured that he had done no wrong. "What a relief."

God I have so much to say about Melinoe's characterization, and the fasinating implications about her future arc/the overarching plot of hades 2. I want to make a larger think piece with pictures but for the moment I'm just going to focus on this one specific thread.

In the wake of the Prometheus reveal, she has a slew of convos about his motivations for siding with Chronos, and the gods basically all go: this is his vengeance for us punishing him a tad cruelly. And Nemesis is like, yeah the gods 100% deserve it. But Meli's responds that he must have more motivation than just vengeance, it can't just be that. But when Prometheus explicitly goes, 'I'm doing this because the gods are horrible to humanity and I love humans,' she basically goes, no he must be lying. That motivation is both too pure, but also humans kind of suck why would you care about them?

Mel's humanity hot takes deserve it's own essay (Ms I think Humans should have never gotten fire and are better when they are dead), and I just want to focus on the former for now. She can not comprehend that Prometheus is fighting the gods for noble reasons. It just does not make sense to her. Mel's world is so black and white. She doesn't understand the nuance of the situation, and the thought that the gods might be actually in the wrong doesn't even get close to crossing her mind.

It's a fascinating (and horrifying) result of her upbringing. Of the constant state of war and the very convenient big bad that is Chronos, the evil monster who stole her family. If she accepts that his side isn't completely evil, that they might even be right in some (even many) respects, she would have to grapple with her whole life. Everything she believes would be thrown into question, the literal thing she was training her whole life for.

She can't have Prometheus fighting for a noble cause, because he fights for Chronos whose the Bad Guy tm. But he also can't be fighting for something as simple as vengeance, because that would also mean she would need to really think about what he's angry about. If the punishment was truly so unnecessary cruel.

When talking to Odysseus about Prometheus, when Ody's saying how much he respected him for stealing the fire despite knowing the consequences, Mel says that it was the price to be paid for breaking Olympus's decree. To her, Olympus's rules are sacred and ultimately good. Unquestionably. Prometheus broke the rules with intent, so to her, why would he be so angry at the consequences? Especially if he knew because of his power they were going to happen.

So he must have another reason, some secret machiavellian plan that drives him. Except as I already said, it brings her right back to him doing it for humanity, which she also can't accept. Because that would be admiting that the gods did something wrong to humans. She twists herself into knots to justify her worldview, and it's fascinating! She's so messy I adore her.

Please Supergiant please the final surface boss has to be a human pleeeaaasse (preferably a living one). Or at least have one (or more) show up in some other capacity. Mel needs to come face to face with the other side and have it utterly destroy her worldview.

And/or have (Pan)Dora betray her for Prometheus, that would also be very fun haha.

my hometown also has an Evil And Fucked Up art installation i always bring visitors to. it's a dark room in the basement of a bank, next to a medieval church ruin because that's just how things are in town. the only light source a thin, dimmed window along the roof, meaning your eyes need several minutes to adjust. and when they do, you'll find yourself surrounded by over 70 strange figures, on legs so long and thin it's like a birch forest. their bodies are big and square and salamanders are suckling at their nipples. in the middle of the room sits a throne with the salamander king.
