I'm always a bit taken back by Homestuck fans who treat classpects as something that has, like, real-world utility as a personality typing system, because – leaving aside for the moment the broader issues inherent to all personality typing systems – there's a fairly strong reading that classpects are bullshit, and meant to be understood by the reader as bullshit, even from an in-universe perspective. There's a suggestion which becomes increasingly prominent in the latter portions of the text that SBURB as a system has a shallow and mechanistic concept of personal growth, and that while it's able to identify images and themes that are emotionally resonant to its players, it fundamentally lacks insight into why they're resonant – it's just bashing tropes together like a kid making their Barbie dolls kiss, and can't tell the difference between an aesthetic preference and a deep-seated trauma. Heck, one of the comic's more consistent motifs is that characters who voluntarily make their classpect central to their self-image typically have something profoundly wrong with them.
i finally went ahead and made a classpect quiz based on my personal conception of how things work. that means it's probably one of the more accurate classpect quizzes out there. consists of two parts. 20 questions total. go take it, share it, argue about it, whatever. have fun.
it's (almost) 4/13 so i figured i'd set this up again :) same deal as last year; if you know your classpect, please click on your class below to visit the associated poll & vote for yours! when the voting ends next week i'll post the completed charts.
I've decided to draw Sonic characters with their own respective classpect outfits! Hope y'all like! Check them out in this thread :3
Sonic The Hedgehog: The Knight of Breath!
Miles "Tails" Prower: The Page of Light!
Knuckles the Echidna: The Mage of Blood!
Amy Rose: The Maid of Heart!
Shadow the Hedgehog: The Prince of Time.
Rouge the Bat: The Thief of Void!
Silver the Hedgehog: The Witch of Space!
Blaze the Cat: The Sylph of Doom.
And finally...
Eggman: The Bard of Life!
And there it is! Here's a time lapse of my work :3
This was a lot of fun to work on! I hope y'all like it just as much as I had fun working on it as well :3 I may do Mighty and Ray and the Chaotix in the future, as well as making stickers/charms of some of these designs :3 Thank you so much for watching!! ❤️❤️
Oh and if you're interested on more of my art, consider following! I love drawing my interests and stuff :3
Edit: I'm really really glad y'all are liking these!! I had a lot of fun doing them and I will try to make some of these into stickers! Right now I can probably make only 5 of them into stickers so I wanna make a poll and see which ones do better, the top 5 ones will most likely be used for sticker designs!
ive seen a lot of ppl comparebit to grimdark, but aside from it being debunked by the Beast, theres also notable differences
grimdark style is characterized by a whispy black outline, while in the above panel, eridan's magic outline is noticably white
so. what else have we seen drawn in a black silhouette with a glowing white outline?
THE FUCKING ANGELS!!!!
BUT THERES MORE
the angels dont always look like that, in fact they only ever appear that way on lowaa
THE HOPE FIELD AROUND LOWAA OBSCURES THE ANGELS
BECAUSE. ERIDAN PERCIEVES THEM AS A THREAT. BECAUSE HIS BELIEF IN HIS WAYS PREVENTED HIM FROM SEEING THE SITUATION CLEARLY
AND. IN THE END. THAT STRICT BELIEF DELUDES HIM TO THE POINT OF KILLING HIS FRIENDS WITH HOPE MAGIC. BECAUSE TO HIM THEY WERE ALL ALREADY DEAD. BECAUSE. THEIR SITUATION WAS HOPELESS
I made the void one for a friend and I liked making it so I made all of them. I struggled with translating some of these to pixel art and they didn't all turn out how I wanted them to but I thought I'd post them anyway in case someone else likes them
Okay, so you know how search engine results on most popular topics have become useless because the top results are cluttered with page after page of machine-generated gibberish designed to trick people into clicking in so it can harvest their ad views?
And you know how the data sets that are used to train these gibberish-generating AIs are themselves typically machine-generated, via web scrapers using keyword recognition to sort text lifted from wiki articles and blog posts into topical subsets?
Well, today I discovered – quite by accident – that the training-data-gathering robots apparently cannot tell the difference between wiki articles about pop-psych personality typologies (e.g., Myers-Briggs type indicators, etc.) and wiki articles about Homestuck classpects.
The upshot is that when a bot that's been trained on the resulting data sets is instructed to write fake mental health resource articles, sometimes it will start telling you about Homestuck.
