SPOONIE +crafty = medical hacks !
Old CPAP mask & head gear + nebulizer parts = more comfortable hands-free nebulizing.
Because 3-6 times a day I need hands free!

Shout out to people with breathing related disabilities because this shit sucks
People who need inhalers and nebulizers. People who use ox tanks. People who can’t stand or walk too much because it makes breathing harder. People who have given up important parts of their life because of their breathing issues. People who need assistance and caregivers. Especially huge shoutout to people whose breathing problems don’t have any treatments and/or are getting worse with time
In my experience, we are often left out of the disabled community, either implicitly or explicitly. Needing assistance with chores and errands is so common for disabled people yet when it’s a lung or airway issue that causes us to need that assistance, we’re left out of the convo. Conditions like cystic fibrosis, COPD, lung cancer, VCD, asthma, anaphylaxis, and more can all be seriously disabling. We deserve a voice
Anyways, big hugs for people with breathing issues that want one. We deserve more love <3

men are so silly cause why are you as a no doubt overworked taxi driver at fuckass 8am racing my mother who's fully willing to lift our own suitcases in your trunk and insisting you can do it on your own like My Brother. We're not judging your work ethic or macho strength we just want to get to the bus place. It is OKAYYYYY unclench but ofc he didn't he lifted everything on his own. Hope he had fun hope he got the confidence boost amen

3years ago... in ICU, alone because of covid restrictions, I had the most terrifying test of my life done fully awake, in an ICU room, not an OR or procedure room.. because they didn't know what was wrong with my airway, it was clearly compromised, the hospital was overbooked and they didn't wanna sedate me and put me at more risk.
that bronchi scope camera was bigger than my air way it blocked in and out air flow that was a traumatic feeling i still remember clear as day... as that scope was pulled out I could feel the vacuum like pressure on my lungs... the dr bolted out the room to get me a OR table ASAP. I had 2 nurses who held me through that. I blew my IVs from my heart rate and my fight to breathe. One told me that fight kept me from coding.. she is the one whom took her lunch break to walk me out the day of discharge.
Oct 1st 2020 was my first airway dilation and without a doubt saved my life, which was slipping away for 3years before we got answers.
5 airway dilations in 1095 days and this last one is holding so far 250days post OP and my airway is still at 450 or higher on peakflow measurements.
The emotions and feeling from that week long hospital stay, in the middle of a pandemic, fighting for answers and to save my life will be with me forever.
In the last few months I have been in "normal" situations where my breathing is silent like a "normal" person's and I take a few deep breaths in litteral silence knowing what a beautiful thing unrestricted airflow is.

me: *coughing up blood into a sink, blood smeared across my lips, holding a heavily stained tissue to my nose because I got a nose bleed*
also me: I bet I look hot as hell right now

Actually, come to think of it, what do healthy people mean when they say they "can't breathe"? Like during running and stuff. Because I've always thought that they mean the same thing I mean, but considering that I have exercise-induced asthma, I assume that me actually being unable to physically breathe is not normal.
Because I personally literally can't breathe. When I try to, I just feel pain as the air refuses to go inside my lungs. My lungs will not expand and if I attempt to force them to, it hurts really bad. I can get air out during coughing fits but nothing can get in. I also spit out mucus during the coughing fits. I just start coughing and suddenly mucus' everywhere.

godddd i hate when people talk about having a "bad" or "severe" animal allergy and its for an animal that they currently own that live in their homes. if you can survive living with this animal it is a MODERATE allergy at worst.
like im sure its unpleasant but severe allergies can KILL people, shit like this contributes to people not taking severe allergies seriously and endangering others

Not looking forward to mosquito season when I have to explain to people that yes, I'm actually allergic to mosquitos and no, not everyone is allergic to mosquitos but I am and it can give me anaphylaxis (for some reason people don't believe me when I say I'm allergic??)
