(content warning: blood)
Sewed Up Heart
[ID: A Trigun comic done in grayscale with red accents. First, an anatomical heart gushes blood, forming a puddle which shifts into Vash's coat. Vash's gloved hands can be seen sewing up a tear at the hem.
Vash raises his hands, which are now bare and covered in blood. He looks sweaty and distressed, and he raises his coat to his face and cries into it. His clenched hands rip the sewed portion apart, and the red thread leads to a heart whose own stitches are tearing apart. The background gets darker and darker, and the red looks brighter and starker against it.
Then the background returns to white, and brown-skinned hands using embroidery scissors snip a red thread. Wolfwood holds up Vash's repaired coat, grinning proudly, and does a happy thumbs-up in Vash's direction. Vash lifts his head, seeming distant.
Wolfwood holds out the coat. As Vash puts out his hand to take it, the cloth is replaced so Wolfwood is dropping a sewed-up heart in Vash's hand. Vash rubs the coat against his face with a teary smile. End ID] ID CREDITS

Patch making tutorials?
and here i am once again, with a patch making tutorial
how to make stenciled patches:
Tumblr media
i'll post a part two in the future which will cover freehanding and stamping ur patches
-
first some general info that might be useful:
i get my patch design inspo from pinterest, etsy, and tumblr. if sell your patches make sure you arent ripping off another artists patch design when using etsy for inspo. anarchostencilism also has tons of stencils both on deviantart and reddit which are free to use.
i use acrylic paint for my patches, but if you can afford it id advise fabric paint. to seal paint into the fabric iron the patches, it helps em last longer. some acrylic paint survives very well in the washing machine, but wash your stuff by hand the first time to see how well it holds up.
if you make your patches multiple colors, dont first make the whole patch one color and then paint over it with the other colors. if the paint starts cracking the base color will show through. (if you like that however then dont mind this)
i paint my patches on jean fabric, cause it makes the patches sturdy yet flexible. but shirt fabric or canvas both work very well too. anything except really plasticy/slippery or textured fabric can be used
i pin my patches down with pins onto multiple layers of taped together cartboard, to prevent the fabric from moving around and distorting the print
-
there's two ways in which i make my stencils
1. with paper covered in tape
2. with the plastic folder you put in your binders
-
option 1:
draw out your design onto some paper, make sure there arent any "loose" parts in the design that will get lost when cutting out the stencil
Tumblr media
cover the paper in tape front and back, make sure you can still see your design through the tape
Tumblr media
cut out your design, i use scissors and an exacto knife
Tumblr media
-
option 2:
draw out your design (you can also draw the design directly onto the plastic folder)
Tumblr media
cut a piece of plastic out of the folder big enough to cover your drawing and tape it down.
trace the design onto the plastic with pen or marker (any mistakes can be wiped out)
Tumblr media
cut out your stencil
Tumblr media
-
continuation from both option 1 and 2
after finishing your stencil you can pin them down on some fabric
Tumblr media
dap on your paint with the point of a big brush or a sponge, depending on the paint it'll take 2-3 layers.
make sure your previous layer dried completely before adding the next one
Tumblr media
after the paint has fully dried you can carefully take off your stencil.
!!dont unpin the patch before it fully dried, or the drying paint may cause the fabric to warp!!
Tumblr media
thats it, questions are always welcome, now go and make stuff!!

Why does Silco choose to stand like this? This is why Jinx can't either stand or sit normally.

my Punk Jackets
masterpost >:>
Okay so here's my current battle jacket that I wear all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The back patch is a Front Bottoms song and the jacket is covered in things, little keys, fun worms I give away (not all the pride flags are mine some are just so I can give people theirs), pins, safety pins (esp around the collar) and spikes.
One side of the jacket is this and has my hopepunk patch which is a personal like. fave.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the other is like this! The mischief brew one sews through the pocket fun fact (just a little though like 1 stitch)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my friend @soan-papdi made the cabin 11 patch! <3
the pockets on this jacket are big enough to put a magazine in and it's a great jacket.
Next is my flannel which I made summer of 2021, two of the patches have been replaces but the rest definitely show their age. It doesn't have a lot on it because when I was hospitalized I took all the sharps off all my jackets and I haven't gotten around to putting them back on that jacket yet. It definitely is more political than my more music/art-oriented jacket and both have benefits
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "Share art share joy" patch (which used to be "snitch on your boss" but that would fold and looked like "itch your ass" moral of the story, look at how things will fold lol) is a pocket!
Tumblr media
The back patch is the first patch I ever made! The sleeves are spiked which is fun but flannel definely doesn't hold spikes well.
Next is my leather jacket which was pleather so fell apart so I painted in all the holes and did a Kimya Dawson quote on the back. It needs some touch-ups on the quote but it's really sweet to me because it did it with friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, my platypus' jacket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I sewed the whole thing myself from a jean leg and the back patch is going to be "love yourself a latke" because his name is Latke!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right now he has a rainbow heart, some black eyed susans, and a "Bee kind" patch!
If anyone ever wants battle jacket tips I'd love to give advice. I might make another fashion post sometime with all my written on shirts or my jorts I embroidered and painted on. Maybe I'll post my kandi someday. for now; Here's my jackets! I worked hard on them.

So... I noticed that Qiu wear their jacket slightly differently in step 1, 2, and 3.
In step 1, they leave their jacket open without bothering to button or zip it up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In step 2, they do the exact opposite by wearing their jacket closed and completely buttoned-up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in step 3, they loosen up their jacket again, but not completely. Ending up with a middle ground where their jacket is partially open and partially closed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just think it's interesting that the changes in how they wear their jacket parallel really well with their character arc in every step.
Also the way their outfit went from warm palette (brown green jacket) -> cool shades (blue jacket) -> mix of both (blue-green jacket).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the way they went from wide grin -> not smiling -> soft smirk.
Yeah.

ehh i felt like i hadnt posted diy stuff here in ages but it was the whole month of january so even longer
ive been working on some smaller projects so heres them all
Tumblr media Tumblr media
turned an old wallet thingie i had laying around into a belt pouch (pouch to put on the belt, not pouch to put the belt in). the cisn't patch was gifted to me by the amazing @brazenedminstrel in a diy trade, and i also made the chaos star patch while meeting up with them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
made some more stamps for easy small patch making, and started work on a pair of army pants i had laying in my closet for months. i had to take em in in the back, added belt loops, painted the biohazard symbol on the pocket, and added the deer skull patch, which i designed after an actual deer skull i have in my collection of dead things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lastly i made a small fish bag which holds my sewing supplies in case im crafting out of the house, the mouth can be pulled closed using the lace threaded through it.
