Lelouch's relentless search for purpose in life

I've previously talked to you about Lelouch's trauma through the enneagram to explain why Lelouch refuses to open up and trust others and insists on doing everything alone to feel self-sufficient and strong. I've also used the enneagram to explain that Lelouch has locked himself into a protective shell and is uncomfortable feeling vulnerable because of his trauma and his upbringing in Darwinian values ​​in Britannia. However, I haven't talked to you directly about one thing that is very important and perhaps because it is so obvious I have overlooked it until I stumbled upon a small thread on Twitter.

In the last conversation Lelouch has with his father, Charles nullifies the meaning and value of his existence by telling him: "But you're dead. You've always been dead, from the moment you were born. Who gave you the fine clothes you wear, a comfortable home, the food you eat, and your own life? I gave you all of that. You are nothing to me because you have never existed." At that moment, Charles kills Lelouch in symbolic terms, causing him enormous psychological and emotional damage from which he never recovers.

We have this flashback in episode 7 of the first season and later Lelouch threatens CC with suicide if she does not let him go to face his sister, Cornelia: "Until I met you, I was dead. A corpse that existed behind a false appearance of life, a life in which I did nothing real. I experienced the emotions of living day to day as if I were a zombie, with the feeling that I was dying little by little. And if I have to go back to that, then I prefer… [And he places his finger on the trigger of the gun]." The series connects those two scenes through a Dutch shot focused on Lelouch's gaze. The Dutch shot is a steep horizontal tilt shot that is used to indicate instability or danger or that something is not right. In this case, it warns us, on a superficial level, that Lelouch has felt dead since his last meeting with his father and that he has been fighting against that (unfounded) belief and these negative feelings and, on a deeper level, that this is a wrong and harmful belief of Lelouch's that has been poisoning his mental health ever since.

(It's sad to compare the two shots. Little Lelouch's eyes show deep pain. As the Bart and Lisa Simpson meme says: it's the exact frame in which his heart broke. Teenage Lelouch's eyes, on the other hand, are empty. A dead look.)

There are several moments in the story that give us an idea of ​​the young prince's struggle. For example, in the first Audio Drama, "The Uninvited Prince," a young Suzaku rescues Lelouch from some children who are beating him and reproaches him for not standing up for himself and disregarding the hospitality his home provides him and his sister, to which the child Lelouch replies, "I am here and I will live. If I live by my own strength, then I will never be dead again." Little Suzaku, of course, finds Lelouch's statement absurd and just thinks he is a strange child. But this response reflects the boy's insane desire to be self-sufficient (to the point of rejecting the help of others) in order to feel that he is alive (remember that Charles told him that he is alive because he has given him everything he has).

We also have a Picture Drama (I'm sorry I don't remember or have the exact number of the PD, but if it's part of the alternate universe, we can ignore it because they are different universes that shouldn't be mixed) with a monologue by a teenage Lelouch: "I've made a vow to use the strength I have to save Nunnally. That will be the proof that I exist in this world."

These words evoke in me a part of Lelouch's song "Back to Zero" (for the fantastic Code Black album in Ashford) in which our hero sings: "Oh! Can you hear me? This fight is how I know I'm alive."

That is, Lelouch tries to prove his father wrong by looking for a purpose to live that reaffirms his existence and, in principle, Lelouch finds it in Zero and the rebellion since they are the means he has to destroy Britannia and create a kind world for Nunnally. And that's why later on he abandons Ashford Academy, the Zero mask and his friends and gives in to depression (in the future, I'll talk about this moment in more depth in another analysis). Then his goals change and his motivations are reconsidered for a series of reasons and events that I won't stop to explain here, but I will point out that I find it interesting and moving how Lelouch goes from clinging to a purpose in life to giving up on it and dying, in order to fulfill his new goals, obtain results and atone for his sins (the magic of a powerful script and a narrative arc, Larry).

Also, all of this explains why Lelouch lost his temper in the season 1 finale when Suzaku yelled at him that his existence was a mistake and that he needed to be wiped off the face of the Earth. Not only did it bring back memories of Vietnam for Lelouch, it was another important person to him who was denying his existence. Suzaku's words hurt him because, as President Snow said in the Hunger Games trilogy, "the people we love the most are the ones who destroy us." I'm not sure if Suzaku knew what Charles told his friend since Lelouch never reveals his secrets to anyone (people around him, including his loved ones, find out on their own), but Suzaku certainly hit a sensitive button that mentally unsettled Lelouch.

Poor Lelouch. He just wanted his existence validated.

Code Geass Season 1 picture Drama 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 // Canon

Code Geass picture drama are short scene which relates various events which happened in between episode or even before the beginning or after the end of the anime. All of them are canon to the anime, but some have been added within the flow due to the AU Release causing some confusion within the fandom.

I'll list in there, in the right order, all of those which are canon to the anime only; I also uploaded all of them (minus the 2nd picture drama of Season 1, because the content was too ecchi for the platform I used) so i'll link them so you can see those if you wish to.

Code Geass Picture Drama Stage 0.515 (Happens before the beginning of the anime)

In 2009 a.t.b., 10-year-old Lelouch vi Britannia carries his blind and paralyzed sister Nunnally on his back as he climbs the steps to a Shinto shrine in Japan. As Nunally asks him what a shrine is, Lelouch explains that it is the Japanese version of a church, and Nunnally asks if the Pope is the emperor of Japan. Lelouch says that Japan has an elected prime minister and that it's just a coincidence that Prime Minister, Genbu Kururugi's home is a Shinto shrine. As Nunnally asks Lelouch if he alright, carrying her along those stairs he reassures her, narrating about how at that time he didn't want for any japanese person to even touch Nunnally. After reaching the top of the stairs, Lelouch is shocked to find out that they'll be living in a shabby storeroom. As Nunnally asks what the room is like, Lelouch chooses to lie and says it has white walls and decorated windows. Lelouch spots somebody and demands that they come forward.

A boy dressed in a hakama comes out, claiming this place was his before they came in and asks them in a very condescending tone if Britannia plans to colonize Japan. Lelouch counters that Japan isn't much different as they are controlling other countris too, but underdevellopped ones and says that Suzaku should ask his father about that, as Suzaku calls him a liar. Suzaku insists that Lelouch is indeed a liar for he lies about the storehouse, asking im where the white walls and decorated windows are, pissing Lelouch off as he yells him to stop and charges forward. Suzaku easily knocks down Lelouch and begins to beat him up, when Nunnally cries out and asks Suzaku to stop. She says she'll do anything he asks, and he realizes that she's blind. Suzaku panics and quickly apologizes before running out of the room. Nunnally asks who that was, and Lelouch tells her it was Prime Minister Kururugi's son. Adult Lelouch then narrates that's how they first met and how Suzaku was his first friend, and the man who would become his worst rival.

Code Geass Picture Drama Stage 3.25 (Happens after Stage 3)

The Drama begins as all the female members of Ashford Academy's Student Council are gathering while taking a bath. Milly apologizes to Kallen for not making her welcome party more exciting because of the announcement of Prince Clovis' s death which kinda killed the mood, even for her. Kallen replies that she doesn't mind it, but questions on why all of them are together in the bath especially her as well since she had already taken a shower earlier. However, Milly states that this is another way that they can all get to know each other better and implies that Shirley would be upset if Kallen actually went home wearing Lelouch's clothes. Shirley quickly shoots down Milly's statement and instead chooses to question as to why Lelouch was acting strangely after the announcement of Clovis' death ;Milly replies that Nunnally was also listening closely; Kallen then mentions that she noticed that Lelouch treated her differently than he does with Nunnally.

Milly jokingly states that it is because he loves his sister very much, which makes it complicated for some other people. Shirley follows up by asking Milly why she is staring at her and Milly ponders that it's a shame because she really has a killer body, and her beauty should be enough to knock Lelouch off. Shirley ask her to not peep at her and snap back that she has the best figure around; Milly ask her if that's the case and stands in her full glory, making an impression on everyone. As a soft voice says, Milly is intimidating everyone, Kallen quickly agrees before noticing Nina said that and that she looks utterly different without her glasses on. Milly agrees that she does and mentions that she has been trying to convince her all this time to wear contacts, taking her chance at teasing her; Kallen is confused as Milly stated "All this time" to which Nina replies that she and Milly grew up together because her grandfather worked in Milly's grandfather's company in developing knightmares. Kallen then makes the connexion with the Ashford name and excitingly ask if they are those who devellopped the Ganymede and the Io series; Milly is surprised to see that Kallen knows so much about what were only Knightmare prototype, leading Kallen to get back into her frail act while pretending she probably read about that in a book somewhere. Milly goes on talking about those never reached advanced stage because of the costs and how the compagny went bankrupt; Nina apologizes as she thinks it's because of her grand father but Milly denies it, putting the blame on her own grandfather, as he wasted money by throwing huge parties, all the time; Shirley notices Milly inheritated his taste for parties, to which Milly agrees but thinks you can only enjoy yourself like that when you are a student. Suddenly, Milly asks if Kallen is available the day after tomorrow to which she replies that she can't as she has to go to Tokyo Tower that day. Milly decides that it is fine and that she can just do it right now, by asking Kallen, what are her three sizes because they need it for costumes or events. Kallen ask her is that's cosplay and directly refuses when Milly agrees. With no choice left, Milly orders Shirley to hold Kallen back and proceeds to get her measurments. This leaves Kallen to become embarrassed and shout out loud.

Code Geass Picture Drama Stage 4.33 (Happens after Stage 3)

Jeremiah and Villetta are in his office having a conversation with each other. Villetta asks Jeremiah how it feels to actually be sitting in the Viceroy's chair. Jeremiah responds that it is bad manners to ask something like that; Villetta reminds Jeremiah that her lineage is different from his but he thinks differently and reassures her that after the Purist Faction takes over, he will personally submit a proposal for her to become a Baroness, and she'll be a real noble with a lineage to be passed on. He then explains that Suzaku Kururugi's execution is scheduled for tomorrow and leaves the details to her. Jeremiah continues by stating that he cannot receive further shame as it has now been twice that he allowed members of the Royal Family to be killed. He tells Villetta of his time when he received his first mission as a soldier eight years ago to were he was assigned as a guard at the Aries Imperial Villa. As he narrates, he remembers that because of an order, a minimum number of guards were on duty that day and were not able to defend from rebels.

This became his first failure and he was moved to Area 11 afterwards. Jeremiah begins to cry because of these failures of his and because Area 11 became the grave of the late Lelouch and Nunnally and now of Clovis. Villetta tries to comfort him, telling him i's not like him to act this way, to which Jeremiah straighten back, agreeing she is right and states that his sister, Lilycia would laugh at him right now in his current state. He decides to continue on with his work in order to regain his former honor for Prince Clovis and former Queen Marianne. Then, Jeremiah calls Villetta to his side and aspires to become the Knight of One. It ends with a scene from episode 4 after Jeremiah encounters Zero and is already under his Geass influence ordering his men to stand down and allow Zero to escape with Suzaku Kururugi.

Out on the Ashford Academy front lawn, Rivalz is working on his motorbike with Suzaku while they talk about how the latter first met Lelouch. Suzaku has just told him that Lelouch used to come over to visit during summer break when they were kids, but politely says that they had not spent much time together. Rivalz awkwardly asks him to stop being so formal as they are just classmates. Suzaku subsequently apologizes and speaks more casually. Since Lelouch is very secretive about his past, Rivalz says he is happy to have finally met someone who knew Lelouch when he was younger. When Rivalz asks Suzaku to hand him a ten-millimetre wrench, Suzaku corrects him with the proper size and expresses his familiarity with the bike. Suzaku fondly explains that a woman who owned the same bike used to help him a lot before joined the army and it was his job to maintain the bike. This person, however, has already passed away. After Suzaku says that he lives in the cramped military quarters at the university across the street, Rivalz asks if he wants to be his roommate at the dorms; a hint of loneliness in his voice. Suzaku declines as he has to attend to this duties there, but thanks Rivalz for the kind offer.

In the military quarters across the street, Cecile asks Lloyd to finish up the important paper work that will finalize their move into the university's space. Lloyd says he will leave it all up to her as he always does, noting how many years they have been working together. She tells him that it is wasteful to put off doing things for later and he replies that he sees "love" inside of her. Cecile is initially flustered. He then reasserts that it is love; love for research. Unamused by the joke, Cecile asks for authority over the general affairs of their engineering core and Lloyd grants it. Suzaku enters the building immediately after, stiffly reporting to duty according to military procedure. Cecile sternly tells Suzaku to simply say "I'm back" instead as social and military rank should not play part here. She insists that this military quarter should be treated like their home. After some hesitation, Suzaku assents and says "I'm back." Cecile and Lloyd then respond with a warm "Welcome home!".

Cornelia and Euphemia are in the dressing room at Prince Clovis's beach resort. Cornelia questions Euphemia if she has to wear that swimsuit as she believes that it is too revealing. However, Euphemia on the other hand states that out of all the swimsuits that Clovis designed, that one is the most appropriate for her. Euphemia tells her to put it on and helps her in doing so. Andreas Darlton and Guilford are seen standing outside guarding the dress room. Darlton can't wait to see Cornelia in a swimsuit and mentions on how his sons would be jealous right now if they were here. Guildford asks if he means the Glaston Knights and states that he respects Darlton for taking in orphans but thinks it's not appropriate to speak like that; Darlton then mentions how much of a stick up in his ass Guilford has, to which the knight can't disagree. After that, Guilford notes that even if both of them are bodyguards for the princesses and have to be in swimsuits he thinks Darlton might be going a tad bit overboard with hiding a gun in his swimming trunks to which Darlton replies that he might be right, as it's obviously visible (you can guess where the gun was put) We then jump to Suzaku who is sitting on the beach with Cecile asking her if it's really alright to be relaxing while they are supposed to be guards. Cecile states that it is alright since no one knows Cornelia is the surprised guest of the resort,and when Suzaku mentions Lloyd's absence she insists that she couldn't care less. Eventually, Suzaku compliments Cecile on her looking good in a swmisuit, making the lady all flustered by the compliment as he shouldn't tease a lady like that;

While Suzaku tries to explain he wasn't teasing, he is interrupted by a voice who has recgnized him ; It was Shirley, who has just arrived with the whole of the Ashford Student council; As Suzaku wonderd what they are doing her, Milly tells her that she was invited because her father is a local dignitary and she brought everyone with her ; Indeed Nunnally, Lelouch and Sayoko are also there. As Suzaku is surprised to see them, Nunnally explains that while she can't move her legs, she is still able to move within the water. She then shyly asks to Suzaku if he'd agree on swimming with her; Suzaku replied he'd love to, but he is kinda working;

Cornelia then appears on stage making an announcement to open Clovis' beach resort to the public. Lelouch instantly recognizes Cornelia with a sour face to Shirley's dismay who mentions it to Milly as it looks like Lelouch is going to attack her. Milly, quite unsure with her explanation, replies that it is normal for a male high school student to want to be physically close to someone as sexually attractive as Cornelia, before asking Suzaku for his thoughts on this, leading him to reluctantly agree. As Nunnally wonders if Cornelia really looks that great and wonders how she achieved such a figure, Milly guesses she must have trained herself with various men in different sort of ways, shocking even Shirley with the subtext. Nunnally then decides to ask Lelouch to train her to be as great as Cornelia. Lelouch also agrees that it would be important for Nunnally to learn and that he won't hold back with her, to which Nunnally says she'll do her best to satisfy him, leading Shirley to totally take it the wrong way.

Watching Leon be silly when my sibling played the original in 2020 was my first Exposure to RE, but I didn't get Invested until I saw Luis be gay in the remake and went completely insane and dove into the lore and pirated RE1 on my 3DS lmao.

personality: at first glance, lelouch is an easy-going, amicable person with the slightest touch of a mean streak. while a member of the student council, people don’t pay much mind to lelouch, if at all. he goes about his days at school with what seems to be barely a care in the world, disinterested in applying himself in anything or making friends outside of his carefully curated circle. he was just a normal, uninteresting person that had a soft spot for his little sister. nothing strange about that.

in actuality, lelouch is a bitter young man, entrenched in frustration at the current social environment and hellbent on changing it, even if it means using force. there is a strange balancing act between the genuine care and compassion he shows for his companions and his attitude that he can use anyone as his tool should he charm them with the right concoctions of words. his charisma is intoxicating, displaying fine leadership skills that rival even the most seasoned politicians. he has the strong belief that those with noble titles don’t deserve his respect, and longs to revolt against the country that he feels abandoned him.

to do that, he would do absolutely anything. he would be anything. he would put on a hundred different faces to make sure that his plans were executed to perfection. nothing else mattered more. not even himself.

something your muse struggles with: secrecy. lelouch is a two-faced liar, cycling through faces near constantly so that he can appear presentable to the different companies that he keeps. this has spiraled so much that he will lie to close friends and loved ones in order to reinforce their perceptions or suspicions of him in the hope that it will be the least painful outcome for them to endure. he is terribly afraid of showing genuine vulnerability to anyone.

your muse’s greatest strength: his ability to strategize. lelouch can take account of a situation at incredibly fast speeds and come up with a plan that would ensure his side’s victory in record times. he isn’t afraid of bluffing or resorting to underhanded methods in order to get what he wants, a quality that makes him uniquely proficient at furthering his own agenda.

history / background: from the very beginning, lelouch had felt like a pawn that was part of a game much larger than him. the eleventh prince of britannia, lelouch and his sister were cast out of the country of britannia after the wake of their mother’s death and sent to japan. he was relieved. almost. by becoming hostages, perhaps they could finally live in peace.

shortly thereafter, britannia invades japan and forces them into a complete and humiliating defeat. enraged at the sheer disrespect displayed by his father, lelouch stands before his best friend suzaku and promises him that britannia will pay for what they’ve done.

a story is fabricated. lelouch and nunnally of the royal family had been killed in the war. instead, he and his sister take on the name lamperogue, and are allowed to stay at the prestigious ashford academy. there, seven long years passed, lelouch growing to be one of nunnally’s main caretakers outside of classes and school council activities. he drifts about day by day, playing the bored, easygoing classmate during school hours. as the day ends, his friend rivalz drives him out to undisclosed locations to gamble with haughty nobles that think they can beat him in chess.

it’s during one of these after-hour outings that lelouch comes across a suspicious vehicle, and, upon investigating, finds a green-haired girl trapped in a metal pod. soldiers call out his name. they tell him that they will shoot. the girl is a project that he is not allowed access to. he scoffs. how unfair. the world is so dirty. he is going to die without having done a single thing.

do you desire the power of kings?

huh. that sounds perfect.

perhaps this is just the thing he needs in order to first spin the cogs of his plan. the black knights are a welcome surprise that he takes advantage of with open arms. as he disguises himself as an innocent, unknowing fool on his school campus, the rebellion group’s status rises higher and higher under the leadership of the enigmatic zero, until they are recognized as what will be the special administrative zone of japan’s official military force. japan will be an independent country again, at least in this little corner of the universe.

it’s a start. it’s too fast. he’s too unprepared. his geass flickers stronger and stronger, until he turns to his foolish, loving, wonderful half sister and tells her to start the march of her own funeral procession.

it was his mistake. he has no right to mourn her death. he is told that he is a demon. that he will be hated by the entire world for his selfish whims. no matter. he welcomes it. this, too, can be used to his advantage. he would fix this damned world, even if it meant that everyone that knew him would be unable to look him in the eye ever again. like a blood soaked lamb, he would play the part.

everything would change. even if it meant that he had to fall for it to do so.

powers / abilities:

geass – an ancient power that is passed from ‘code bearers’ to vassals of their choosing. lelouch’s personal geass is the power of absolute obedience, which manifests itself in his eyes with a pink glow and bird-shaped symbols that replace his pupils. should lelouch make eye contact (this can also be done via reflective surfaces) with an individual and give them a verbal order, the targeted individual(s) will follow this order without question.

there is no time limit to how long this command will last, nor is there a limit to how many people he can command at one time, and those affected by the power will forget the experience once it wears off. a person may only be controlled by his geass one time before it stops being effective. some additional limits include commanded people not being able to follow commands that are impossible for them. they might direct lelouch to the next best person that could help him though. additionally, those under geass can resist it temporarily if they find the order conflicts extremely with their own sense of morals and personal goals there is some content in the series that involves people having geass-breaking powers specifically, in which an individual will be susceptible to being put under a geass again from lelouch specifically, but i doubt that this will come up.

also, this power is kind of grossly overpowered even with it’s drawbacks. it’ll only be used in cases where i’m given express permission to do so.

“perfect” geass – an additional ability that allows lelouch to turn his geass on and off at will. without it, his geass will always be active whether he wants it to be or not, which could lead to unintended consequences. ( don’t ask him what those consequences may be. )

inherent abilities:

gun proficiency – can use most handheld guns with good accuracy

mecha proficiency – typically good at piloting big robots if given the opportunity

sewing – can make/fix clothes easily

cooking – it’s on the (soup) tin

items / weapons:

shinkiro – a 15 foot tall mecha that’s primarily black in color with gold and red highlights. it’s capable of multiple different things, such as: - diffusion structure phase transition cannon - powerful chest beam cannon. can be used as either a big beam or can be aimed as multiple pinpoint lasers to hit multiple targets

absolute defense system - can summon a large pink energy shield with a hexagon pattern anywhere immediately around it in order to block incoming attacks

hadron cannons - shoots sphere shaped energy ammunition from its wrists

slash harkens - wire cannons that are stored in its knees, to use for offensive, defensive, and travel purposes

fortress mode - it folds up like a transformer into a beetle shape to travel around better

factsphere sensor - picks up on visual and thermal information in the outside environment for pilot

it has limbs to kick / punch / pick up people / etc

it can also fly

zero outfit – hand tailored by lelouch himself, it is a fitted two piece tailcoat suit that is purple in color with gold highlights. it comes with a set of black leather gloves and a white cravat, along with a black flared cloak with a red interior and gold accents. most important of all to the outfit is a black horned helmet with a smooth face, the screen opaque on the outside as to hide the wearer’s identity. it has two mechanical latches, one which affixes the helmet to the wearer’s head more properly, and another that takes a small slot out of the front of the helmet to reveal the wearer’s left eye when lelouch in particular wants to put people under his geass’ influence.

eye contacts – a pair of purple eye contacts that suppress the powers of geass and hide its appearance from view.

chess board – folds open and has compartments for its pieces. very cute, but it doesn’t have any special abilities other than being his ultimate stim toy.

the Tyrant-Veronica Virus was created by a young Alexia Ashford, granddaughter of one of the original founders of Umbrella. The Ashfords were a noble family praised for its talented members- one such relative being Veronica Ashford, known for both beauty and brains. Then here comes THIS BITCH Alexander Ashford, son of Edward Ashford and an absolute whore. unable to bear children or keep a good highranking position in Umbrella after his fathers death he decides that the normal thing to do was to make clone babies of his ancestor Veronica and hope to god that they become as smart as she was because hes a weirdo and a freak. This gave us the Ashford twins, Alexia and Alfred. Alexia was the brightest of the two, so smart that she somehow became head researcher at the age of ten ? ? ? take ur daughter to work day got fuckin intense ig. she became obsessed with insects (twinning!) and made a virus based off of ant hiveminds and the superior intellect of her predecessors (oh okay). Alexia and Alexander poured their all into using this Virus to create the perfect specimen- until Alfred and Alexia discover their dads weird clone baby plan and the fact that Alfred was a mistake so thats why he was kinda dumb to which they said "okay! so lets just go over there and beat the Shit out of our dad". But instead they infect him with the virus and send his mangled corpse to antarctica where it becomes a hideous monster Diversity Win ! tl;dr T-Veronica is a virus that when infected with the RIGHT person at a SLOW AND STEADY PACE it will offer the victim pyrokinesis through spontaneously combusting blood and a hardened exo-skeleton ALSO A COOL BUG FACE YIPPEEE !!!!!!!!!! there are themes of plants, bugs, fire, hivemind, and royalty when it comes to both this virus and the game itself.

so what the fuck does this have to do with desmond ?

Desmond Sycamore is a man driven by spite and vengeance towards his father and Targent itself for ruining his life. From childhood to his lost family, Desmond had lost so many to Targent and its pursuit for the Azran legacies, causing him to take up the Jean Descole persona and dedicate everything into capturing the legacies first.

He matches the Ashford's theme of inner family turmoils, the cost of the pursuit of knowledge, and vengeance. Desmond can also be associated with the aformentioned "natural" motifs of T-Veronica due to his interest in archaeology and, of course, the Azran Legacies that have controlled his life since The Incident(tm).

When it comes to Desmond interacting with the Virus itself, it'll probably be another incident where he'll try to secure it before anyone else to get their hands on the samples. Maybe his own hubris will lead him to believe that he could handle the mutation, maybe he was forced to by Targent themselves, who knows i might turn this into a fucking AU again god. damnit

I can see him as another Albert Wesker situation where he can KIND OF control the virus inside of him, but through suppressants of course. Without it the mutation will just go haywire and he'll loose control- which would be a REALLY COOL contrast to Hershel's own G-Virus infection but i aint got time to get into THAT (someone please ask me about hershel's infection plsp lsp ls pslspl PLEASE)

Down with the Sickness

I’ve been out here, simping hard for Lady Lady Dimitrescu, since her announcement. It’s dumb hard not too. Have you seen this chick? Like, f*ck, man, she is EVERYTHING! Giant Vampire Mommy can choke me to death any day of the week! Obviously, I'm talking about one of the antagonists of Resident Evil VIII. I actually love everything I've seen of this game so far and it kind of got me waxing nostalgic, you know? Looking back on the franchise with an eye toward growth. We just came off those excellent REmake titles and another for IV on the way. I love these games. Great narrative, great characters, great conflict but, the main reason I've been so endeared to RE franchise are definitely the BOWs. So, while I'm waxing nostalgic, i wanted to list some of my favorite horrors so far, before VIII drops and Alcina officially f*cks up my list. Like, serious, she can f*ck me up anytime.

Eveline

Eve was a real surprise in VII. I don’t want to spoil anything but if you play through this excellent title, you know exactly what I'm saying. I’m a big F.E.A.R and Ring fan so Eve really hits those Samara/Alma vibes. There was no way i wouldn’t love this character. Admittedly, E-001 is a little cliche in the design department but more than makes up for that with how goddamn sinister she is.

Crimson Head

Crimson Heads were introduced in the RE Gamecube Remake and what an addition they turned out to be. A Crimson Head is the transitional stage between a regular zombie and a Licker. This in-between form is a f*cking nightmare. They move faster than a zombie and are easily the hardest regular creatures to kill. Like, they’re straight up immortal. Unless you burn them alive, they’ll just pull a Tyrant, lay down for a while, and get he f*ck up to continue rendering your fleshy. I kind of love them! Also, motherf*cker looks pretty dapper in his little suit, don't it?

Alexia Ashford

The Younger Ashford made one hell of an entrance, didn’t she? the way she just sauntered in wearing that gorgeous, body hugging, slip of a dress, only for it to burst into flames, revealing her true, monstrous, form. I wasn’t on board for Veronica until Alexia showed up and burned up my heart. Its a fine game, don’t misunderstand, but I'm an RE2 guy. Veronica didn’t feel like that. It felt different and, more importantly, that narrative felt disjointed as f*ck. Plus, the art style was gross. Like, how is the Bandersnatch a f*cking Tyrant? F*ck all of that noise! And then there was Alexia. All was forgiven.

Verdugo

Similar to my position on Veronica, i didn’t much care for IV. This was the turning point for the entire franchise and we’d have close to a decade of straight up Michael Bay-ish schlock because of this one title. I didn’t particularly care for the action oriented nature of this particular title, but I'd be lying if i said i didn’t respect it. I mean, this game is gorgeous! These character designs are too dope and the Verdugo is one of the best in this game, if not the entire franchise.

Regenerator

Man, f*ck these things, man... The only things worse than these f*ckos are the goddamn Iron Maidens. F*ck them, too!

Mr. X

There are SO many Tyrants on these games. They went from a staple boss to borderline mascot and i kind of love it. There is a litany to choose from for this spot; T-001, T-002, T-A.L.O.S, Thanatos, the Ivan, that disgusting Bandersnatch i mentioned earlier, but it’s a particular T-103 that caught my eye. F*cking Mr.X. This sumb*tch, man, gave me straight up panic attacks. Like, you don’t even understand the fits this f*cko put fourteen year old Me through. Then, fast forward twenty years, and he’s even worse in the REmake! Nemesis will make an appearance ion this list shorty but REmake Mr. X is every bit OG Nemmy was and more. I straight up fear quit the first time this gargantuan beast came running for me. Like, that was it. I just watched a play through Haven’t touched the game since

Nemesis

Oh, Nemesis, how our relationship is SO complicated. REIII came along and installed the first tidbits of action horror in to the franchise. It didn’t go heavy like IV but it definitely forced in those QTEs. Back when this game first dropped, i thought they were pretty interesting. Now? Not so much.  That said, the Nemesis is a f*cking beast! Mr. X kind of made me sh*t my pants but that original Nemmy? Bro, f*ck that guy! Nemesis is one of my favorite creature designs in this entire franchise. I’m partial to the second form original, the one that’s all malnourished with the tentacle arm, but the REmake designs are pretty cool, too. Even it it had that weird, broken, nose.

Lickers

If not for G, the Lickers would be my favorite creature in the entire franchise. The second you see this beast crawling on the ceiling in that classic, Nineties poly, CG animated cut scene, i was in love. And then it immediately decapitated me. What can i say? It was love at first sight. Lickers are a f*cking problem. They always have been. Brilliantly designed, brutally executed, and wonderfully endearing. There’s a reason it as the main antagonist of the first RE film and not, you know, an actual Tyrant.

G

G is, for me, the absolute pinnacle of Biohazard design. I love everything about this straight up unit. All of it’s forms. All of it’s ferocity. Just, all of IT. I’m particularly fond of the Third Form. That thing has been my favorite since i first beat the OG REII, way back when. I even had the action figure. It was wonky as a f*ck but, for the time, did the character justice. I yearn for Hot Toys or Mezco to take a crack at it with modern tech, That f*cker would be terrifying, especially using the updated, REmake model. THAT G? holy sh*t! I don’t know how you improve upon that first design but those madmen over at Capcom sure the f*ck did. Holy sh*t, i love G. I love it so much, i named one of my novel antagonists after it. Similar power set, too.

Admittedly, this list is Umbrella Saga heavy. That’s mostly because i only really like the first four games and by four i mean I, II, Nemesis, and Code Veronica. VII was dope and VIII looks amazing, but i didn’t much care for IV while V and VI were complete dog sh*t. I didn’t like anything about those two games. At all. They came out during Capcom’s weird, Americanization, period during the PS3 era and it shows. Resident Evil is about survival. It’s about working with what you have on hand, what you can find, to bust some zombie ass. You’re never supposed to be an action star, you’re supposed to be a survivor. V and VI completely forgot about that. Also, all of their BOWs are butt ugly and not in the cool or unnerving sense. VII went a long way to fixing that while VIII, with the prominence of Alcina and her Brood in all of the advertisements so far, looks to push that envelope even further. I don’t know how many of these new monstrosities will make this list in the future but, so far, they’re are quite a few.

The Power of Veronica

So I have been anonymously asked to write smut, as comfortable as I felt, with a dominating Alexia and sub Claire from Resident Evil Code Veronica. The plot of my choice, which I kinda chuckle at because I have NOT played Code Veronica (CV). I’ve watched a lot of videos about CV and played Darkside Chronicles, but this was a fun challenge presented to me.

This story is PG-13, 16+. Pretty much a lime!

To anyone who’s a fan of the RE series, like how much I TRULY love it, I hope you find this piece interesting!!

          The Ashford Mansion was more than just a symbolic relic left behind by Umbrella; it held more than just that. Behind its dirty and dingy walls laid something far more sinister and evil. The residents in this household were more than hellbent to bring something to the world it would never see before. The name Veronica would be etched.

           Guns went ablaze as Claire tried everything she could against the demented Alfred. He laughed like a royal maniac as he shot right at her, but suddenly it came to a halt and Claire could hear Alfred lowering his rifle down.

           Great, now’s my opportunity to get one shot on him and get the hell out of here.

           As she pulled out her Magnum gun to take the bastard out of his misery, a soft feminine voice came through. “Please dear brother, let me deal with the guest. I don’t think it would be wise to shoot them, it would ruin the dinner conversation.”

           A woman dressed in the loveliest, ornate purple gowns waltzed on through. She looked like she was ready to attend an opera, but as she started to sing flurries of insects surrounded Claire.

           “WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE?! GET AWAY FROM ME!”

           Oversized flies that looked like ants and spiders that had wings managed to pick up Claire and she dropped her gun in the process. “Alright, what do you two want with me? I don’t have any money or political power; all I want is for you to let go of Steve. OK?” She tried to wriggle her way out from the disgusting bugs, but a rather large sized black widow slinked its way down from the ceiling. It slightly flexed its legs in anticipation of catching its prey. An almost hissing-like sound escaped the monster’s mouth, an acidic fluid dripped down its mouth and left small holes on the concrete below.

           Alexia almost giggled at the sight of the distressed woman. “Oh, Steve you say? You mean the brat who should keep his mouth shut?” An evil smirk almost appeared on her doll-like face, but she wanted Claire to feel pure terror.

           “Look, LET HIM GO! You’re the one I’m after!” Claire screamed out, tears nearly welling in her eyes. She felt useless, for once in her life. No matter what she could do, her physical abilities were limited by the Queen-to-be in front of her.

          Alfred turned around and headed back towards his quarters. “Alexia, do whatever you want with this woman. She is of no concern to me; I doubt anyone like her can make an impact on the Ashford family. It's about time that the Ashfords reclaim what is rightfully theirs.” He almost let out another cackle, as if his grasp on a human reality was slipping farther in his mind.

          A few more of the bugs managed to carefully grab Claire’s weapons and made sure that they were put out of commission.

          With a snap of Alexia’s fingers, the insects released their grip and rudely dropped Claire like a hunk of meat.

          There Alexia stood, proud as ever. The Veronica virus melded so well with her, every action she made worked in tandem with it. Nothing could stop her now; in fact, she was more than willing to share that power with a select few. “I do say, you’re Claire Redfield right? I did some research on my end, because I was the result of what my father created and my lust for knowledge is what drives me. You managed to survive the horrific, or rather wonderful, results of Raccoon City. Hundreds of zombies running around, with no will of their own. Except, not me, I have my own will and I will make sure that everyone else around me begs on their knees for forgiveness.”

          A small ember nearly formed on the palm of her hand, not incinerating the delicate and beauty of her white gloves. Claire wanted to find something to combat with the crazy woman. How could Alexia talk about people like that? As if they’re puppets willing to be controlled. “Why are you keeping me alive? Wouldn’t you want just to kill me, right here, right now?” anger could be felt behind Claire’s voice, as if having to be reminded of the events of Raccoon City was enough. “Umbrella is nothing but scum and anyone who wants to bring harm to others deserve to burn in hell!”

          She still felt useless, normally any Redfield would find a way to get out of a situation. However, Claire felt completely out of her element.

          Just as Claire wanted to try to come up with some plan, Alexia breezed her way down the baroque staircase, one of the few remaining relics of Umbrella. The Ashford family prided themselves on elegance. If a mansion could look as elegant as ever, would it matter if there were bodies rotting in its core?

          “Claire, I want you to realize what Veronica can do for you as well. For as strong and resilient as you are, a woman like you should deserve some sort of benefit. Normally, anyone who dared to cross me would meet an untimely death. However, you are different, I see something within you that needs to be brought out.”

          Claire didn’t know what to do, she was completely terrified. A woman who would look like any other normal human, could manage to strike fear right into her. “I REFUSE!” she screamed in rebellion, she stood her ground and tried to find any sort of weapon. One of the staircase railways was on the verge of rusting off, so she managed to rip it off and swing it like a bat.

          With such grace and elegance, Alexia raised her hand and ignited the beam into a ball of flames.

          Quickly, Claire dropped it to the ground and went right into for a jab.

          However, whatever strength or ferocity Claire had, it was quickly drained as Alexia managed to inject her neck with something.

          Rage filled Claire’s delicate blue eyes, an almost tinge of red showed through, but darkness filled them. Shit, I can’t beat her. She’s just too strong.

          Thoughts of Raccoon City and people dying by the dozens flooded Claire’s mind; somehow Chris would be overrun by numerous zombies and would meet a grizzly demise.

          Minutes passed on by, hours passed on by, till Claire finally managed to gain consciousness. Chains and bindings held her down; there would be no way for her to escape.

          Suddenly, the same pain returned to her. She wanted to grab at it to dull the pain down, but nothing would quell that combustion. As if she felt every limb in her body was going through a hellfire. Suddenly, the insects that Alexia had summoned before started to gather and stood in awe in what they were witnessing. As if, somehow a sense of humanity was injected into them. “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!” Claire screamed in confusion and anger. More and more, her hair started to change as some kind of vines or fauna started to sprout where her hair normally was.

          “You see, it’s the Veronica virus running its course. You will possess the same power as me. In fact, you could be even stronger than me if I showed you how it works.” A slight cooing tone escaped the female Ashford’s voice, she relished to see others suffer from what she proclaims as the next step of human evolution.

          Delicate fingers caressed Claire’s face, not a single blemish would ruin what Alexia visioned in her mind. As her fingers danced around, she found an opportunity with her other hand and ever so carefully let her fingers twirl the vine-covered hair. A few strands of red hair slipped through the madwoman’s fingers, but it brought an odd sense to the woman. As if, Alexia was wanting to do more than just twirl it.

          Lips met one another, but Claire had no will to fight, but to accept the truth around her. As if her body was almost craving more of the power Veronica would be able to deliver. Slowly but surely, more vines wrapped tightly around Claire’s delicate throat.

          She wanted to take a breath, but the ecstasy-filled rush took her body over. Hands tried to grab where they could, as if she was deserving to feel that way.

          Alexia pressed her body up against Claire’s; somehow Claire managed to feel the organza, the silkiness of that lovely purple dress.

          A small ember glowed on Alexia’s white gloves, yet the flame managed to not damage them. She quickly cut Claire’s red vest into tatters, exposing how much the Veronica virus could do to the human body. Alexia was far from any human, she was a scientific experiment ready to be brought out into the public. She would no longer keep herself in isolation or rely on experiments to do her bidding.

          The fauna on Claire’s body managed to hide her breasts ever so carefully, but to Alexia nothing would be hidden in her gaze.

          Fingers gradually cusped around Claire’s breast, fingernails ever so slightly dug into them. They didn’t bleed, but the pressure was too much for Claire. As she wanted to cry again, her lips were silenced once again by Alexia.

          For once in Alexia’s life, she found those sorts of romantic affairs odd, but entirely fascinating. How much satisfaction would she get from it all?

          However, Claire’s body was looking it wanted to reject the virus. Fear ran through her mind. Is this how Sherry felt all those years ago?

          Once again, she didn’t allow herself to cry while Alexia was around. Every so carefully, the female Ashford managed to pierce her hand right into Claire’s breast. Green blood slowly trickled down, but somehow the coldness brought a sense of pleasure to Claire. “PLEASE!”

          Panting breaths escaped from both women, they were completely drawn into the moment. Alexia could’ve easily just killed Claire right there, allow the virus that made Alexia who she was into Claire’s coffin. However, this moment would not be wasted.

          However, not soon after, a few male voices echoed in the chamber.

          “CLAIRE?!” both Chris and Steve yelled.

          Faith was slowly restored into Claire’s blue eyes. However, Alexia was disappointed with how short the affair was, but she was able to fulfill her purpose. See what the Veronica virus could do.

          “It’s such a shame that this game is over, but I don’t think we’re far over from it. Just remember, while I’m willing to give you a cure, Veronica will always call you back. It always does.”

          As Claire’s rescuers came by her side, Alexia dropped a purplish vial on the ground. “DO AS YOU WISH WITH HER! She can die where she is or you manage to save her, but I doubt it’ll last long.” She slinked her way back, an army of bugs created a getaway for her.

          “THE ASHFORDS ARE FAR FROM DONE, I HOPE YOU DO REMEMBER THAT!” Alexia screamed, but it was far from a scream; it was a declaration of war, Umbrella would be sure to come back to the public.

I FINALLY beat the game, after 11 1/2 hours, 7 retries, 19 saves, and a D rank. After restarting three times. I have done it. So here’s things I want to comment on.

•This game’s dialogue isn’t messed up in a funny way. It’s just weird. Missing tone and stuff like that.

•The characters actually moving their mouths when they talk is inconsistent. Some times their mouths don’t move at ALL.

•Chris’s Rockford part and Claire’s Antarctic part are pretty short. Keep it that way because Claire’s island and Chris’ base were pretty long and they should be.

•extend the stuff on the Ashford family. I want more of it. More details and stuff, I had a lot of questions about that.

•Steve actually makes a comment on Alfred that better suits what I was saying last time “He thinks he’s two people.” Further proving that Claire’s cross dressing freak comment doesn’t fit at all. He isn’t cross dressing. Oh yeah! And Alfred never speaks in his voice after seeing himself in Alexia’s makeup until he awakens Alexia. He had a mental break.

•This game really is crazy with the backtracking. Like oh my god it’s so intriquet. (Get the Lugars to get the silver key to get the plaque to get the eyeball to get the piano roll to get the blue gem to open the one music box and then get the painting to get the gold key to get the red gem to open the other music box to take the music disk to put in the blue box to open the attic to get the last proof. That’s just an example too, I actually had to do h this.)

•I want more details on Alexia’s powers because me and my uncle were confused about that.

•the game luckily never locks you out of key items if you miss stuff.

•the tyrant fight is where we died the most and once again, this is BEFORE your free save. If you die here, it’s right back to the beginning.

•Despite it all, me and my uncle had good laughs.

•the cutscenes and models and stuff are visibly dated; but I’m not my brother. I don’t care.

•shouldn’t Alexia and Alfred look more like Veronica?

•I just wanna see all this in the RE Engine because I believe it would be beautiful.

•Steve is a joke. Alfred is a joke. Darkside made them better characters. (Alfred isn’t even a threat or anything. He only tries to attack you one time and you just have to run up the stairs. He seems incapable of fighting.) (As for Steve, he’s never doing crap right. Tempted by Claire’s thicc.)

•The game is SO DARK at times. And I get that’s suppose to promote lighter use but still.

•I just want more of the Ashford story and art of them and stuff they’re so interesting aaahhhg

•Wesker acts like a bratty child when talking to Alexia. (“I want it! Now!”)

•Also Alexia is the only female whose beaten Wesker and made him run. Talk about woman power considering he easily beat the shit outta Chris and Claire.

•the art in game is inconsistent with the twins ages. Somethings they look older than they should. (Alexia was suppose to be like 14 or so when she went into freezing. They killed their dad at like 12 or so.)

•CV still has my favorite cutscene style. I like how Chris and Claire look but looking back at it.. it doesn’t look super great.

•Still enjoy the music, none of it seems wrong.

•People complain about there being too much Wesker added with X and that they want him removed completely but this is a very important thing, especially for RE5. This game teaches Chris that Wesker is alive and he’s no longer human, but a super powered monster. It also won’t make sense in 4 when we see him again because “wait he’s alive? Isn’t that important?!”

In conclusion. CVX does need a remake but it’s still partially enjoyable. Next up is the 40 hour Resident Evil 4. We need to take a week break though cause my uncle’s fingers got hurt and I am NOT fighting a chainsaw.

Code Geass Season 1 DVD Magazine 2 : Best phrase award (Stage 14 ~25) Crack / Not Canon

The best phrase award videos are specials from the Code Geass dvd, with the best voted scene/lines of the show being commented by some of the cast; While it's obviously very crackish since the characters break the 4th wall, it's still very good fun and it even allowed us to learn what was the full line of Stage 14 infamous Lelouch dialogue to Shirley, while he was erasing her memories, since it's mentionned twice in there, as a fact, not as speculation. So some good Shirley/Lelouch food I guess, and some good crack for those who are fond of this kind of content. This post is about best scenes from Stage 14 to 25.

DVD Magazine II: Best Phrase Award (Stage 14 ~ 25)

Milly and Shirley introduce the corner; Shirley: "This is also where we bully Lelouch!". They then introduce themselves:

Milly gushes over Cornelia (she's apparently a huge fan of Cornelia and her No-Nonsense personality); Shirley then says, a little too innocently:

"So I guess Nina goes for Euphie, and Kaichou's all for Cornelia."

Milly: (sweatdrop) No no no, it's just that I find it really MOERU, this scene of Cornelia finally acknowledging and entrusting her hopes to Suzaku, who she once considered an enemy. Oh, I meant the hot-blooded kind of Moe, by the way.

Shirley: Actually, I think Cornelia, for all her hostility, was one of the first characters to acknowledge Suzaku.

Milly: (surprised) Really?

Shirley: Apparently Cornelia ordered Suzaku to execute Toudou because she thought it would be an achievement no one would dare cast doubt on. She did it for his sake.

Milly: (sigh) I don't think any normal person would do that "for someone's sake".

9. [Chigusa] I... I don't mind being an Eleven..

Shirley and Milly both sigh wistfully at this little, quiet love blooming against a backdrop of war and death.

Milly: Though I'll admit I was surprised: does losing one's memory result in such a drastic change of personality?

Shirley: I think Villetta had this side to her all along, actually.

Milly: (grin) I see. And then we have a certain someone whose personality stays exactly the same even with her memory gone.

Shirley: (pout) Are you talking about me!?

Milly, without missing a beat, changes the subject--

8. [Shirley] The morning will come. [...] Well, there are a lot of sad things you can't just forget, but... But the morning will come, right?

Milly: The morning will come... what a lovely line! Shirley was trying to cheer Lelouch up here, you know, even though she was still grieving over the loss of her father and all.

Shirley: (a little lacking in humility) Yes, that's right. I've never seen anyone's daughter turn out so strong and fine! I can totally understand why Lelouch would say something like, "If there's a next life for the both of us, let us be lovers.".

Milly: (grin) Well, talk is free, after all, as I'm sure Lelouch knows very well.

Shirley: (annoyed) Would you like a Shirley Punch too, Kaichou?

7. [Schneizel] It's true. Nary a flower nor butterfly flitting in a ball shine brighter than you do on the battlefield. Yes, you're just like The Flash.

Shirley: I'm surprised Schneizel managed to say something like that with a completely straight face.

Milly: He's a... "People-Killer". (*note: as opposed to "Lady-killer")

Shirley: (surprised) People-Killer?

Milly: He's the sort of person who knows what someone wants to be told, deep down, and he tells them exactly that. For example, Cornelia, who deeply admired Marianne the Flash, was told "You're just like the Flash herself."

Shirley: (sweatdrop) When you put it like that, his motives don't sound all that... pure.

Milly: And that's how both Cecile-san and General Bartley fell prey to his charms.

Shirley: General Bartley, too...?

Milly: To all the li'l kittens in front of the screen -- be careful of men like him!

Shirley: And now let's call on our first guest...

6. [Kallen] LIKE HELL I'D DO IT!!!! [...] Hmph! The only person capable of ordering me around is Zero, and him alone.

Kallen: LIKE HELL I'D DO IT!!!! (sigh) ...Hello. Kouzuki Kallen -- Japanese -- here.

Milly: (sweatdrop) Wow, that's some point she's making there. Not to mention she's in a real sulk right now...

Shirley: We've never seen this Sulky side of Kallen, have we?

Frail Kallen: Um, could you please refrain from using the word "Sulky"?

Milly: (grin) SO! How is it? How do you feel about Zero -- the only person allowed to order you around -- turning out to be Lelouch himself?

Frail Kallen: (sigh) I... really don't want to acknowledge this as fact.

Shirley: Was it totally unexpected for you?

Kallen: (explodes) WELL YEAH, OBVIOUSLY! Lelouch's just a bratty no-gooder, all talk and nothing else!

Milly: Completely different from the Zero you admired, huh.

Shirley: So... what are you going to do when Lelouch orders you around in the future?

Kallen: (sigh) ...That would be... a problem, yes...

Milly: (surprised) I thought you might like Lelouch better now.

Kallen: Oh, I wonder about that! Or rather, can we pretend all that never happened? Who should I ask? The Director!? The scriptwriters!?

Milly: (sweatdrop) Um... I think that's probably impossible now.

Kallen: (sigh) What'll become of us in the sequel...?

4. [C.C.] It's fine...! ...No, I suppose I am a little worried. Win, Lelouch. Win against your past, and the consequences of your actions.

Shirley calls on their second guest...

Kallen: (softly, to herself; but with clear distaste) Ugh, he's here.

Lelouch begins to complain about the show: the long wait-time, the lack of hairstylists and make-up artists, getting Shirley Punch'd, etc. etc..

Shirley ignores him, and continues on: "Lelouch's Women Problems, No. 5 and No. 4, revealed." (annoyed, sulky look)

Milly and Kallen: (simultaneous evil grins)

Lelouch: That's an invasion of privacy.

Milly: Still, you can't possibly deny that you've been behaving like a total playboy, especially when compared to Suzaku and Rivalz.

Kallen: (obnoxious smirk) Hmm~m? So Lelouch liked the pink princess, eh?

Shirley: (annoyed) And he fed me that line about reincarnation and becoming lovers and stuff in Narita, too!

Milly: And after that he kissed C.C.-san!

Kallen: (obnoxious smirk) Just what is going on with you?

Lelouch: What is going on here, is what I'd like to know. What is this, some kind of class reunion!?

Frail Kallen: Please reflect on your actions, Lelouch-kun~

Lelouch: ...Is no one planning on asking relevant questions about my Best Phrase?

Milly: Hey hey -- so what was it about Euphemia-sama that you loved?

Lelouch: (>__<) Learn to be more subtle with your questions!

Milly: (whine) I want to know! This episode was really depressing, you know.

Lelouch: It can't be helped!

Shirley: (annoyed) "It can't be helped"? That's all you have to say about your actions!?

Milly and Shirley start fangirling over "Orange-san".

Milly: But it's funny, isn't it?

Lelouch: (annoyed) So you only criterion for this is... how "funny" it is?

Shirley: Yep!

Lelouch: ...Are you saying I should be funny, too?

Milly: Nah, it's alright -- you're funny enough as is.

Lelouch: (SHOCK)

Shirley: Hey Lelou, why did Orange-san turn out that way, anyway?

Lelouch: He was experimented on by Bartley.

Shirley: What kind of experiment?

Lelouch: Bartley was the person who used C.C. as a guinea pig. Upon Orange's awakening, the data for "Code-R" can be seen on the monitor screen. ...In other words... that's how it is.

Shirley: Huh!? I don't get it at all!

Lelouch: That's alright. The viewers in front of the TV know what I'm talking about.

Shirley: Ooh, that just pisses me off!

Shirley: (in total admiration) I can't believe she actually said that!

Shirley: I wonder which one of the two he's jealous of?

Milly: Um, that's not something you'd normally think about, is it?

Shirley: (innocently) I'm just speaking out on behalf of the female fanbase.

Milly: Come to think of it, I wonder how many people listened in on this confession.

Shirley: Oh right, this was done over a communications channel, wasn't it? I'm surprised you thought of it.

Milly: C'mon, this is a public confession we're talking about here! Everyone wants to know!

Lelouch: That was a private channel, for military use only. The only person who overheard was the operator -- Cecile Croomy.

Milly: Oh, I see. Must have been awkward for Cecile-san. Not like she can just plug her ears and not listen.

Lelouch: Well, after that, I suppose Schneizel might have checked the communications records and said, "Ahahahaha, that was truly a masterpiece, Euphie." </schneizel>

Shirley: (sweatdrop) I can actually imagine him doing that, yes.

Lelouch: By the way, Euphie's the sort of person who does the things she wants to do passionately and wholeheartedly -- while completely oblivious to what's going on around her. She's been like that ever since she was little.

Milly: So that's what you like about her, huh~

Lelouch: (>__<) Stop that! Is this some kind of grade schoolers' pajama party!?

Shirley changes the subject --

Milly: Has there ever been a protagonist capable of using the word "Friend" in such an evil sense? This unprecedented form of dark villainy has won critical praise!

Lelouch: ...You're interpreting things in an evil light again.

Shirley: But that's the straight-on interpretation of it, isn't it?

Milly: Yes... it just screams "BRING IT! YOU'LL BE THE ONE GOING DOWN! I'LL BEAT YOU TO A PULP AND SEND YOU OFF CRYING!".

Shirley: Are we mistaken?

Lelouch: (sweat) ...

Milly: Looking back on it now, I suppose this is what he had to say after Suzaku told him "I'm coming to kill you now."

Lelouch: Hmph, I don't care for your interpretations. We're good friends, Suzaku and me.

Shirley: "The person who's been tied down by rules and orders has finally come to kill Zero! That deserves a maniacal laugh!" ...by Lelouch's inner monologue, something like that?

Lelouch: CAN'T YOU LISTEN TO WHAT I'M SAYING FOR ONCE!?

Milly: But you set a proper trap, didn't you?

Lelouch: But of course! I don't see any point in fighting an idiot with reflexes and nothing much else fair and square. My best character trait is my intelligence!

Milly: (sweatdrop) I think that sort of thinking is exactly what's been rubbing Suzaku the wrong way all this time.

Shirley then asks Lelouch about his thoughts on his role in the sequel; Lelouch pauses to think for a moment.

Milly: Moar liek... are you even in the sequel?

Lelouch: (SHOCK) Me, not in the sequel!?

Shirley: Come to think of it, there was that one gunshot in the final scene... BANG!

Milly: Alright, hypothetically speaking: If you were in the sequel, what would you do?

Lelouch: (annoyed) ... As mentioned before... I won't change! My goals, my methods, the things I want to protect... my wrath, too!

Milly: That's... kind of hard to understand, but I guess in a nutshell he's saying "I will still be shamelessly doing all sorts of dirty tricks unbecoming of a protagonist in the sequel! Be sure to tune in!" -- something like that.

Lelouch: (>__<) ...I get it... fine... ...whatever...

Shirley: (sweatdrop) He... acknowledged it.

Lelouch then Geasses the viewers into watching the sequel every week.

FLASHBack: Week 80 [First-Class FLASHBack] - Resident Evil: Flash Edition

In this month's First-Class FLASHBack, we're going to look at animations by Joseph "Legendary Frog" Blanchette parodying the Resident Evil Series of video games. Because, as we approach what is the United States' most important national holiday, I can't think of anything more American than a story about a horrific lethal virus and a corporation that puts power and profit foremost without stopping to consider even for a moment the health and well-being of the general populace.   However, I'm severely out of my depth on this one, as I have very little first hand knowledge of the Resident Evil games. I never really watched these Flashes the first time around, so any trivia or historical context is going to be sparse at best this time around. Resident Evil: Flash Edition was the 6th animation Blanchette made, and was uploaded to Newgrounds on 29 September 2002; it was a parody of the famously bad acting in the game's opening cinematic, and took Newgrounds' Daily 2nd Place. One notable easter egg is the fact that one of the newspapers shown at the beginning of the animation has an image from Joseph's Final Fantasy Tribute animation, from the part where Aeris beats up Sephiroth. There's also an appearance by the memory-wiping Neuralizer tool from the Men In Black franchise, and the white house from the Zork series of text adventures and video games (specifically how the house appeared in Zork: Grand Inquisitor).  

While Blanchette would tease a spoof of Resident Evil: Code Veronica at the end of his first Resident Evil animation after the credits, his next Resident Evil Flash would be I Am Resident Evil, posted to Newgrounds on 22 December 2002. This one would earn Legendary Frog the Daily Feature award, and was inspired by the U.S. Army's "Army of One" recruitment ad campaign. The original Flash ended with Alfred Ashford continuing to ramble on over the end credits, only to be told his time is up. When Blanchette converted it to video for his YouTube channel, he cuts it before the credits roll, because that was the point when Alfred's time was up.   Joseph would finally skewer Resident Evil: Code Veronica on 16 July 2005 with Code Veronica: Flash Edition, earning him a spot on Newgrounds' Front Page the next day, as well as Daily 3rd Place, and Weekly 2nd Place awards. Like the game itself, the Flash featured notes laying on desks seemingly in the background, that were actually able to be selected and read. Reading these notes would unlock different outfits for Claire: One based on her look in Resident Evil 2, one modeled on Legendary Frog's OC Kerrigan, and then of course, the obligatory bikini "Summer Outfit".   Blanchette has made some Creator's Commentary for Resident Evil: Flash Edition, and Code Veronica: Flash Edition where he talks a little on his thought processes behind making the Flashes. He also has a playlist of several short comedy bits that were intended to be part of a multi-animator Resident Evil collaboration project that ended up falling through. Finally, to switch gears to another one of our First-Class creators here on FLASHBack, even though I've mentioned it before, I can't do a post about Resident Evil and Flash without bringing up the fact that Jonti "Mr. Weebl" Picking did the CG Animation of The Hive for the first Resident Evil film.   Next week, an antidote to all this grimdark survival horror. Forbidden Fruit, a Code Geass AU

Suzaku remembered waking up, on the beach, the shores of an island of all places. He remembered experiencing disorientation concerning his surroundings and his arrival. How did he get here? And why? Why couldn’t he recall anything prior to being stranded?

“I won’t get any answers here…” Survival instincts from training had kicked in. First things first, he needed to locate a source of drinkable water.

He remembered this more vividly than anything else.

A figure. It appeared to be that of a woman. The back was facing him. At first, he grew alarmed, wary that this person, whoever she may be, might pose a threat to his wellbeing. And then she turned. And that head of red hair that stuck out like a sore thumb on any given day, grabbed his attention, practically slapping him in the face for not recognizing her sooner.

“Kallen? Kallen Stadtfeld?”

He remembered her active response. She wasted no time in both covering that which she could and charging at him with a concealed weapon of some kind.

“A Black Knight’s uniform? Don’t tell me you’re one of–!”

Yes, that dark jacket. The design. She couldn’t be one of them, could she? Not Kallen Stadt—

“Kouzuki is my name! I’m Japanese!”

He remembered meeting her for the first time. That spit fire Guren pilot, Kouzuki Kallen. If asked to describe his feelings as he straddled her naked body, working to subdue her wildly moving form, he’d have to say he was somewhere between utterly confused and bewildered. So much that he paid little mind to the very obvious fact that she lacked proper clothing for the better part of their encounter.

Well…no…that’s a lie. He is still a boy, after all. However, he’s a soldier too. And a knight of third princess! He couldn’t dishonor his master and himself by gawking at a woman in such a vulnerable state! Though, even he had to admit…Kallen was just not the kind of beauty you could ignore easily.

“So, you have no idea how you got here either.”

He remembered the awkward part of forcing her clothes on because her being naked and his ‘captive’ just did not sit right with him for previously mentioned reasons. He easily compared her behavior to that of a drenched cat. Wild. Violent. Merciless. The list just goes on.

“You’re a lot different than you are at school.” The most obvious observation he’d made all day. Not just her behavior. Her expressions. Her voice. Her entire demeanor. It was like a switch had been flipped on her. Could this girl before him really be Kallen?

“Yeah, and you’re the same as ever…” In all honesty, despite her involvement with the Black Knights, he had to admit this Kallen was much more…pleasant to be around. Or perhaps pleasant wasn’t the correct term. All in all, he enjoyed her presence much more in this setting than at school. He truly believed she was quite the boring individual.

Oh, how wrong he was.

“The name Genbu Kururugi, the last samurai, weeps!” Her feisty, reckless tirade triggered the ole recipe of bitterness and resentment that permanently swelled within his lump of a heart. Forever would he be compared to his radical of a father. It was something he’d learned to live with over the years. But now…the secret had come out.

“My father didn’t commit suicide. I killed him. With this hand.” Gone was the boy who trembled at the feet of a foe who somehow knew too much. Gone was the feeble teenager who preached and preached on justice all the while harboring the very sin that was a direct catalyst in the equation that led to the very much anticipated downfall of his people. For that moment, for that split second, Suzaku stopped caring.

He was a killer. Day after day he tried to convince himself that maybe, just maybe, if he worked hard enough, he could one day be free of this sin but no. Area 11 and its inhabitants were a perpetual reminder.

He remembered Kallen’s face. He was expecting mortification. Lelouch, his best friend, gazed upon him in shock. He anticipated much worse from her and yet…her eyes were sad? Maybe he was seeing things. Maybe the crackling fire between them played tricks on his eyes. For her expression lasted but an instance.

“Zero…what he’s doing is wrong…”

“Oh, and you’re suddenly Mr. Right? Who is it that gets decide what’s right and wrong? Who gets to stand in judgement? Certainly not you! You’re nothing but a—!” The words were on her lips, teetering on the tip of her tongue.

“Go on and say it! I know what I am, Kallen! A disgrace to the Kururugi name! A murder! A hypocrite! I’ve heard it all before! But those labels don’t change how I feel about the state of this land! What being Japanese means to me! What it’s meant since our independence was stripped away!”

“So now you’ve got pride? Hah! Your pride means nothing if you’re fighting on the wrong side! The very fact that you oppose someone who’s done more for Japan in the last month than you’ve done in your entire life shows me that your so-called pride is nothing but a farce! It’s not real! How dare you call yourself Japanese!”

Every word she spat at him was like lava. It made him hot, hotter than he’d ever felt. Steamed, even. The kind of hot that compels men to act violently. The kind of provoking hot that urged him to hit something. He felt so driven all of the sudden by aggression and frustration, he was ready to…to…!

He remembered her eyes, wide with fury and shock the moment he lunged forward, tackling her into the cold cold sand below them. He remembered suffering from a well-aimed knee to the abdomen, courtesy of the Guren pilot who flung more ignited slurs his way. He couldn’t explain why he attacked her like this. Well…he could but he didn’t care to. This action would bring him shame every time he thought of it.

He thought of her eyes, a blue starkly contrasting the fiery pits of vengeance currently scorching his being. He thought of her breath, labored huffs of air hitting his flushed face at uneven intervals. He thought of her hair in splayed spikes of crimson laying construed about her face. He thought of her lips, dry as they were, his eyes never strayed too far from the full pink pair, parted and giving him the allusion of something soft.

And suddenly all thoughts stopped at that point.

“S….Suzak–…!” Too little too late. Had she called his name even a second sooner, he would’ve stopped himself. But she didn’t. And he was now comparing the softness of her lips to something plump, sweet, warm. Kissing her was like biting into a ripe peach on a hot summer afternoon. An odd comparison but it seemed to fit as far as he was concerned.

“……”

He remembered moving away from her, back to the fire, back to real life, back to the sad sap of Kururugi he’d learned to accept.

And he remembered biting into that peach one more time before night became morning. Later on, he would wonder how in the world Kallen managed to get her hands free from those bindings.

It would be weeks, perhaps even an entire month had passed in between their next encounter. Needless to say, it wasn’t a very pleasant meeting. The events prior, discovering Kallen’s ties with the Black Knights, being stranded with her, and most notably that kiss, were still fairly fresh within the Lancelot pilot’s mind.

Or rather, his ever-feisty hothead of a rival was in his head and he couldn’t seem to get rid of her. No matter how much he cared for his princess, the light of his life, that spark within Kallen…it dulled her shine.

A bit.

He saw her at school upon his return at long last. He wasn’t surprised to see her tense up whenever he was around. He knew her secret. And he was willing to bet he was the only one at Ashford who did. Unbeknownst to her, he’d never breathe a word about it.

“Just what in the hell kind of game are you trying to pull here, huh?” She’d cornered him, unceremoniously shoved him in a vacant classroom while obviously, and painfully, poking his side with that blasted knife wallet. Really, where does one obtain such a cute yet deadly accessory?

“I don’t know what you mean, Kallen.” Part of him didn’t. Part of him was waiting for her to question him.

Part of him was dying for it. A chance to share the same space, breathe the same air. A chance to look into those constantly blazing, fluid pools of raging cerulean. A chance to memorize those lips, to experience the nostalgia of his first encounter with the forbidden fruit.

“Don’t fuck with me, Suzaku!”

“You kiss Zero with that mouth–ow! It was a joke, sheesh!” Yeah, he supposed he earned himself that small stab from her blade.

“What’s your angle? Are you planning to blackmail me? It won’t work! I don’t care about exposing myself!”

“Wait, that’s not what I’m after all! Please, don’t do that!” Time to come clean. And fast. That blade didn’t seem to be going anywhere. “While we’re at school…I’m Suzaku, your friend. I won’t do anything to jeopardize your being here, Kallen. If anything, I’d like to persuade you to change sides.”

“Oh, how noble of you.” He was expecting that sarcastic jab.

“But…when we meet on the battlefield, I’ll be your enemy. And I will make it my duty to defeat you and Zero.” Blazing cerulean met the steely pigmentation of raw sage. And Kallen looked taken aback by his bold declaration. Taken aback and mildly provoked. That smirk covering her lips told him everything he needed to know about her stance on his words.

“You say that as if you really can stop us. I’ll beat that knightmare of yours, just wait!” She was seconds, mere seconds, away from removing the knife when calloused digits closed around the thinness of her wrist. Several quick maneuvers later and the Guren pilot met the cold hard surface of a beaker cabinet, face first.

“You’re underestimating me. I am a trained soldier. You’ve just gotten lucky overtime...”

“This ‘luck’ nearly defeated your precious Viceroy and gives you hell every time our units clash! You’re the one underestimating me!” How dare he impose his strength upon her. Oh, how she yearned to level the playing field. And level his head while she was at it.

Frustrated with her defiance, the male effortlessly whipped her form around, forcing her back into the cabinet while keeping a steady grip on her arm.

“You don’t have to do this Kallen! You come from a good family. Your father’s a noble! With your background, you could easily work from within and–!”

“Save the self-righteous work with the system speech for someone with nothing to fight for! You really think a halfbreed like me will be well received?! Oh, your father’s a noble~. Screw him and screw y–!”

He couldn’t resist. How could he? The tension between them was too great. Her eyes, they’d captivated him from the moment she yanked him from the hall. Even her scent, tantalizingly potent, reeled him in. And the bait that compelled him?

Her raw anger.

It was different than what he was used out of women. Most girls were nice, sweet, kind, soft, gentle. But Kallen…she was a fire. A ticking time bomb. A raging storm and he was slowly coming to terms with being blissfully caught up in her torrents.

Which is why when she finally snapped and slapped him, he did nothing more than cup his stinging cheek. He didn’t follow after her when she stormed off. In fact, he all but avoided Kallen for a pretty good portion of the day and the rest of the semester.

She scared him, for lack of a better word. And not because she was tough or one of his more formidable foes on the battlefield. It was off the battlefield that her presence shrouded him in veils of fear. He’d awaken at night, in cold sweats though the dream was definitely the opposite temperature. He’d randomly find himself thinking fondly of Euphemia only for the image to shift to that of Kallen.

Worst of all, he’d recall and crave that first taste.

This fruit, his sweet downfall.

Euphemia was dead. Area Eleven had succumbed to the terror that would soon become known as nothing other than the Black Rebellion. Suzaku was traumatized, deeply wounded, and wracked with terror. His heart, normally swelling bitterly now had a new accessory weighing it down.

Revenge.

“Zero!”

“No, it’s Lelouch!” Why…why did she have to be here? Why did she have to come at this exact moment? Why…did she follow him? Follow Zero. Follow Lelouch…she would pay dearly for choosing the wrong side. He gave her a way out. Time and time again. If this is the path she walked, so be it.

“Suzaku, no!”

“Don’t get in my way, Kallen!” He’d merely intended to shy her away from coming any closer. But when his gun fired…when he heard her cries of pain…it was like seeing Euphie’s demise from eyes of the monster before him.

No, how could he…

It wasn’t supposed to turn out this way…Lelouch. He was supposed to shoot Lelouch, not Kallen.

After that, he was on autopilot. Blur. Everything he remembered was a blur.

Detaining Lelouch. A blur.

Treating Kallen’s gunshot wound. A blur.

Contacting the Avalon to meet him at the island. A blur.

And he’ll never forget her last words.

“S-Suzaku…I will…n-never…forgive you…”

Her last words as Kouzuki Kallen.

A/N: This was a bit longer than originally intended but it’s just one of those things where you write and you write and you keep writing until the message you want to get across is conveyed. When I tell you I’ve had this on my brain for YEARS. I mean, it’s been a loooong time but I finally buckled down and pumped this out sometime in 2018. Tell me what you think.
