Orla's Non-Bat Comic Recs.
Hello folks, in light of the 'all published comics are BAD' wave that has been swept everywhere recently I would like to share a collection of comics that are good actually and are generally isolated (you don't need a spreadsheet to read them).
1.) Impulse (1995)
Why: This is about a neurodiverse coded teenage refugee from the future who cannot live with his blood family in the 20th century due to circumstances that are beyond his control. It is about learning to adapt to a world that doesn't make sense, and learning to love it too. As time goes on Bart learns how to love and he discovers who he is and what is important to him really. All the while some of the most chaotic things happen that you may ever see in a comic (Bart tricks the whole school into getting into a brawl and drives a car off a cliff). Primary themes: Found family (for real), loss, immigration coding, neurodiversity, foster homes, friendship, self discovery, school. Trigger warnings: child abuse, ableism, ptsd, gangs and gun violence (a shocking amount) mental illness. Available in Trade Paperback: Partially. Reckless Youth - collects Bart's first appearances from The Flash plus issues #1-#6 in Impulse. Flash/Impulse: Runs in the Family - collects Impulse #1-#12 plus supplementary issues from The Flash. Mercury Falling - Collects the entire Mercury Falling arc.
2.) Jack Kirby's New Gods (1971)
Why: This is the epic that started it all with Darkseid as he scours the earth in search of the Anti-Life Equation. It is about many deep layers of history involving the New Gods, the divide between New Genesis and Apokolips. In desperation to stop an endless war Darkseid and Highfather of New Genesis agree to a pact - to trade sons and in return a long period of truce and a ceasefire would pass between worlds. Highfather agreed, trading his son for Darkseid's whom he raised with love on New Genesis. Orion, years later, is a god of war and he fights for New Genesis and he fights for Earth, undogged he persists in vanquishing Darkseid's evil wherever it dwells. But Orion has a secret, and deep shame, for he experiences anger and wrath like no other on New Genesis but there is deep compassion and love that tempers it. As Orion fights for Earth he uncovers many secrets about himself, and at his side is his 'friend' Lightray who knows the darkness in him but never turns away. Primary themes: war, anger, ptsd, secrets, space opera, family, anti-war, malice, self discovery Trigger warnings: ptsd, this was written in the 70s but was pretty liberal for its time, still has some awkward moments that are slightly sexist and racist (mostly with names of black characters Vykin the Black and Black Racer which some people are uncomfortable with). Available in Trade Paperback: Complete. 1 book. Jack Kirby's New Gods - Collects all issues of Jack's 1971 series plus Even Gods Must Die and The Hunger Dogs. NOTE: Jack Kirby's entire Fourth World epic with Mr. Miracle and The Forever People is also highly recommended and is part of the New Gods tale. All 3 series has been complied into one massive trade called Jack Kirby's Fourth World, and all are available individually as well. Either way you might be able to find these at your library, or on Hooplah.
3.) Orion by Walter Simonson
Why: Decades after Jack Kirby wrote his final chapter for New Gods Orion finally gets his solo where he faces his father on Apokolips and steps up as its ruler. Now the leader of Apokolips Orion begins the arduous task of cleansing it of its malice and cruelty, a feat that is not easy and even more so when he does it without aid. With sinister deception at every turn Orion struggles and finds himself being tempted to use the very force that he was sworn to protect everyone from; the very anti-life equation itself. Primary themes; deceit, temptation, rebirth, life and death, redemption, mercy, compassion, love, forgiveness. Trigger warnings: torture, sexual assault implications. Available in Trade Paperback - Complete. 2 books.
4.) Barda by Ngozi Ukazu (NEW!!)
Why: This is a graphic novel and is a retelling of Barda as she comes to understand love and what she really wants from her life all while navigating the cruelty of Apokolips. Primary themes: love, cruelty, malice, torture, imprisonment, hope Trigger Warnings: torture, execution. Single complete graphic novel.
5.) Superman: The Harvests of Youth by Sina Grace
Why: This is a heartbreaking coming of age story about Clark Kent as a teenager in Smallville as he finds his place among his friends, family and himself as an alien during a time of death and hatred. It is a young Superman story that is incredibly relevant today in an age of internet toxicity and leaves you feeling hopeful. This blends some elements from Smallville (the show) but tweaks them to make this its own unique bubble world that feels believable and fresh. Primary Themes: toxic masculinity, incels, bullying, suicide, capitalism, teenage coming of age, teenage romance, high school Single complete graphic novel
6.) Superman Smashes The Klan by Gene Luen Yang
Why: In the 1940s the Superman Radio Show released the story "Clan of the Fiery Cross" that told a terrifying story about the KKK targeting a Chinese-American family that moved from Chinatown into Metropolis white-dominated suburbs following WWII. This is a graphic novel that is based on the same story. Primary Themes: racism, identity issues, internalized racism, police brutality. Single complete graphic novel, and also has 3 separate novels.
7.) Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story by Nicole Maines (New!!)
Why: This is Nia Nal's solo and origin story that has been confirmed to take place in the main verse for the current comics. Nia was born and raised in a small heavily isolated Sanctuary where aliens live safely. Even among dozens of alien species Nia is still seen as different as she is the only person who is trans. To complicate everything even more, Nia inherits her people's precognitive powers when her sister Maeve was raised her entire life to accept the powers into her. Terrified of her new powers and destroying her family by revealing them she inherited them instead of her sister, she flees from her hometown to Metropolis where she for the first time in her life meets other queer people. But there is a threat to her family on the horizon, and in order to protect them she must go back and face her fears. Primary Themes: transphobia, self discovery, xenophobia, acceptance, fearfulness, family, secrets, deceit. Trigger Warnings: see above, also internalized queerphobia. Single Complete Graphic Novel
8.) Static: Season One
Why: This is a modern retelling of Milestone Comic's Static as bullied nerd Virgil Hawkins comes into his powers at a protest when police discharge an experimental tear gas. The gas leaves many of his classmates dead, but some like him gain amazing powers - unfortunately some other people, like his bullies, also gain powers. Caught between law enforcement, capitalism, and the complexities of being a new teenage superhero Virgil works to uplift his community and stay strong within his nerdy friend group. This series is heavily based on the Static Shock TV show so fans of that show will be delighted with familiar faces, and names. And yes, Richie Foley is gay. Primary Themes: racism, police brutality, bullying, anger, frustration, dehumanization. Trigger Warnings: See above Available in Trade Paperback - Complete in Static: Season One which collects all six issues. Note: We also have its sequel Static: Shadows of Dakota out as well.
9.) Superman: American Alien
Why: This is a collection of short stories about Clark at varying stages of his life that range from funny to incredibly heartfelt. Primary Themes: finding ones self, self discovery, compassion Trigger warnings: I cannot think of one Available in Trade Paperback - Complete as Superman: American Alien which collects all 7 stories.
10.) Legion of Super-Heroes: Post-Zero Hour Reboot
Why: In the 30th century R.J. Brande Industries creates the Star Gate System, finally connecting the galaxy closer than it ever had before. Travel that once took months or years to complete now could only take hours and with it came the United Planets with Earth as its home headquarters. In an effort to promote the United Planets and unify the galaxy, the Legion of Super-Heroes was formed by Brande as a peacekeeping unit and an inspiration to cooperation. Sadly, it was co-opted by political parties and turned into a draft for talented teenagers to serve, or risk their planet's enrollment in the U.P. Over the course of over 200 issues teenage super heroes are given unfathomable responsibility and power while unifying to protect their galaxy and friendships while combating xenophobia and political corruption. This series is everything people wanted TTv3 to be but never got. Primary Themes: Dehumanization, loss of autonomy, death, life, space, technology, capitalism, political corruption, manipulation, deceit, hope, romance, found family Trigger Warnings: See above plus ableism and teenage pregnancy. Available in Trade Paperback: Partially. We have 2 volumes called Legionnaires which collect approximately 20 issues, plus extra content, of this run. We also have various other trade collections such as Legion Lost in its entirety.
11.) Ascender and Descender by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen
Why: Tired of superheroes? These are two separate series that follow the same story about a young companion robot named Tim who was assigned to be his human brother's best friend and companion. Unfortunately, during a mining accident his entire colony had to flee and leave him behind as they attempted to escape toxic gas. 10 years have gone by since then, and a lot has changed in the world since he was shut down. Mostly being 95% of all robots have been destroyed and are targeted for destruction after a mysterious robotic alien force attacked all sentient worlds and obliterated the populations down to catastrophic levels. All Tim wants to do is find his brother Andy, but what has become of Andy in 10 years, and what will happen to him in 10 more years after they reunite? This story takes place over 20 years as Tim and Andy both grow and change, as they face the challenges before them and unravel the mystery of the Artificial Intelligence that swore to destroy all organic life. Oh, and magic is also involved too. Primary themes: hatred, violence, abuse, xenophobia, forgiveness, found family, brothers, dehumanization, life, death, magic, balance, manipulation, deceit, mysteries, will probably remind you of Mass Effect. Trigger Warnings: see above Available in Trade Paperback: the entire series is available across multiple books.
That's all I have for now folks, I'm tired of writing.

In a break from my regularly scheduled lack of programming, I wanted to talk about how Angeal's rose tinted 'memory' in Ever Crisis. As I was going through things, some thoughts occurred to me and I want to collect them.
I think Jenova has a habit of integrating memory without understanding the individual relationships that cause code shifting in conversations or even the major differences between characters. Lucrecia as she portrays her is Mother, she's not Lucrecia as a person, she's a designation and part of the grouping of this being what a mother sounds like is based on Jenova's limited experience with the subject, especially with modern humans. The memory has the same feeling as Cloud's 'memory' of Nibelheim at the beginning of Rebirth, right down to a photograph and that's because those are Zack's memories but twisted and edited just enough to pass for Cloud's.
Angeal's relationship with the townsfolk when he was supposedly quite the thieving toerag of a kid screams of fantasy of being accepted and beloved. Heroism for him is producing crops, it's making sure his parents are taking care of and feeling accepted as part of a community where he grew up in poverty. It's rose tinted because it's literally rose tinted glasses.
I would bet that was not remotely his mother's reaction to him joining SOLDIER. We're saying Gillian Hewley, the woman who wouldn't talk about her experience to the point of death, who ran off with Angeal as a baby to try and get away from all of that, who preferred to live in poverty rather than take a single gil of Shinra's money, would have a) cared about Angeal's SOLDIER uniform looking sharp, b) ordered the 'finest materials straight from Midgar' and c) when Angeal expresses worry over dirtying it, would giggle and say it was fine when should just make him another? Does that sound like the same woman or does it seem like a fantasy of what he wished would have happened?
I'm going to go further here and say that in fact, it's much more likely to be in line with Genesis's mothers reaction and I'm wondering if either a) Jenova got them mixed up because of the close quarters or b) Jenova just characterised it as Mum Behaviour and went with it, assuming it all sounded roughly the same when the difference between Angeal's mother and Genesis's (and Lucrecia for that matter) is vast in terms of personality and relationships. Either way, I think this is again one of those little edits where she's using one memory to patch another.
Having now looked at some of the better quality pictures of a younger Gillian below, I am now more convinced than ever that the other Nibelheim scientist we see with Hollander in the opening film of First Soldier is Gillian. For me, this pretty much confirms Jenova had close proximity to the mamas (and Genesis's biological mother who SE need to stop gatekeeping because saying it's a secret is making me feral) and could have patterned their behaviours between that and the pre-existing J-cells.
The next FS part cannot come soon enough, I am fascinated by this turn.
#ff7#ff7ec#ff7fs#angeal hewley#jenova#rainbow rambles#the fact that jenova seems to be doing this through mothers is making me ridiculously happy#like i didn't mean for jbswm to be that close to canon but i am beyond thrilled#also i really need a jenova project prequel gdi i need to know if the ifalna theory is true

Day 16 | Day 18
31 days of FF 7 Headcanons: Day 17: Legacy and Future
Today we dive into the unraveling and reconstruction of Bianca Amara Moore: a woman who becomes a myth, a mother, and a monstrosity in equal measure. Far from a redemption arc, Bianca’s journey is one of calculated surrender, emotional warfare, and cosmic upheaval.
In this exploration of legacy, grief, and creation, we follow a villainess who chooses to transform rather than resist, becoming a force of entropy and rebirth in a universe that tried and failed to unmake her. What emerges is not a hero, but a sovereign entity whose love is terrifying, whose pain is generative, and whose will dares to reshape existence itself.
Possible Trigger Warnings: Abuse (emotional, physical, and psychological), body horror, child endangerment, coercive control, death of a loved one, existential dread, manipulation, medical experimentation, obsessive love, parental abuse, pregnancy under distress, PTSD, religious trauma, self-harm (implied), sexual trauma (non-explicit), suicide ideation (implied), torture, trauma bonding, war.
Bianca Amara Moore’s legacy is one forged in entropy and forged again in rebirth. As the Harbinger of Death and Rebirth, she does not aspire to be remembered as a hero or a savior. She seeks to be remembered as a force of inevitability, the axis upon which the old world shatters and the new one begins. Her legacy is destruction with intent: the annihilation of corrupted systems, of false gods and humanity, and of a universe that allowed her suffering. She envisions herself as the instrument that initiates a kilonova so that new existence can rise from the ashes.
This legacy is not meant for mortals to revere; it’s meant to be felt across time and dimensions, whispered in the breath of reborn stars and coded into the very DNA of the Rebirth of Creation that will follow.
Bianca's vision of the future is not the Promised Land. That is Sephiroth’s dream: an idealized world shaped by conquest and legacy. Bianca walks beside him not because she shares that dream, but because she has learned to survive within it. Her goal is something far more radical: the birth of a new Existence. This new Existence is one forged from collapse, stitched from grief, and rewritten in their own image. While Sephiroth sees rebirth as a means to ascend to godhood, Bianca sees it as the only way to escape the cruelty of the current order.
After being finally broken, Bianca allows herself to be remade by Sephiroth: not as a sign of weakness, but as a calculated surrender, a means of infiltrating the very core of Sephiroth’s ideology. Her transformation is not a tragedy of lost self, but a metamorphosis fueled by obsession, pain, and love twisted into something divine. To survive him, she becomes what he loves. But to surpass him, she becomes what he fears: a mother.
Her corrupted powers are not just tools of destruction, but instruments of genesis. From trauma, guilt, and grief, she births children imbued with fragments of the Remnants (Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo) and raw reality magic. They are not weapons. They are warnings. Living proof that her will, once hijacked by Sephiroth’s influence, has become a sovereign force.
And when Sephiroth trains them cruelly, it is not her devotion to him but her defiance that shakes the stars. Her protective wrath cracks the dreamscape. It is not beauty or submission that makes Sephiroth hesitate. It is her love, fierce and maternal, that forces him to evolve or face a celestial mother's wrath.
However, Bianca’s journey is not without resistance from within. Corrupted by shadow, pulsing with life-drain and spatial disruption, her powers threaten to destabilize her mind and body. The trauma carved into her by Hojo and Ravenscroft’s scalpels, Asmodeus’ cruelty, and the death of her first love Mordecai haunts her with each step. If she wasn't weak, she could have stopped Mordecai's death.
These wounds are both chains and catalysts. Her greatest challenge is maintaining control over the storm within, channeling it into purpose rather than letting it devour her. Yet in moments of clarity, especially through her bond with her children and Sephiroth, Bianca begins to believe that even ruin can be a cradle. That her fractured soul can shape futures, not just end them.
Ultimately, Bianca’s legacy will not be written in stone or sung in hymns. It will ripple through the Existence like a myth that refuses to die. Whether as a celestial blight, a misunderstood creator, or a cosmic mother of monstrosities, her essence will echo in every new reality born from her kilonova. She doesn’t seek to be remembered fondly. She wants to be remembered truthfully as the being who looked at a broken universe, bled for it, broke it, and then dared to love what came after. Her legacy, like her love for Sephiroth and their children, is not gentle, but it is eternal.

ranting on here for once instead of twt (which is back for me!) because i'm too lazy for the thread format and i must yell A LOT
it's about cid, and angeal deniers in ec...
like, i'm absolutely hating the lengths some people have to go just to be all "cid will come first" or "i would prefer if cid came out first"
you can just say you prefer a character over another without dissing one of the characters, saying shit like "oh but he's just a bad zack clone/bootleg so he's not important the way cid is", "you're doing selective reading on the interview", "i'll quit the game if angeal comes first", "what's there to explore anyway," etc.
like excuse me if maybe i'm biased towards the guy, but being someone who does have some impact in sephiroth's life, i think angeal is much more important than "guy who has a beef with shinra over the space program and drives our airship"
sephiroth is a driving force of the main ff7 plot
if not for cloud chasing after sephiroth around the world, cid would stay in his near backwater rocket centered town yelling at shera and not going anywhere (aside from maybe driving the bronco around, if you consider rebirth additions and the implications of him owning the bronco in og)
sephiroth, cloud and aerith are the driving forces of the ff7 story and anything directly relating to them in any way will be always more important
angeal is sephiroth's friend (and if you read into it, sephiroth's anchor). sephiroth's behavior through cc is impacted by his friendship with him and genesis both; showcasing that sephiroth's loyalty is not fully shinra's, that he's willing to ignore orders, dump missions on others and make his own rules if that means possibly helping both angeal/genesis survive
hell, after angeal dies, before nibelheim and with genesis possibly still alive, sephiroth has enough of a wake up call and decides he'll abandon shinra depending on the circumstances
cloud's sword was angeal's before it was zack's, and aerith was there when zack mourned the loss of the guy by his own hands
cid's character arc is mostly done in og; he goes through the domestic violence arc and "i'll join you because that's dumb as fuck, i like that plan" to "oops, the woman i yelled at and scared and blamed all these years for something that i chose to do was actually right". he gets a few extra tidbits in the extended compilation (i.e: marrying shera, naming an airship after her, working for wro now, having met ifalna in the past) but they're afterthoughts. the character was already explored
all of this to say that people saying angeal has no/lesser importance to the narrative than cid is fucking insane shit
i get people not liking him (it's not easy to because we're given crumbs of character exploration and also the way people behave towards mentally ill characters not acting 100% as they claim their moral code to be), i get people not wanting to play as him for the possibility of Yet Another Sword User™, i get people liking cid for whatever reason
but the fact that they feel they're obliged to jump into the discussion whenever someone shows the slightest amount of angeal hype in the chat to go "but naaah, cid is in the data, so cid gotta be first uwu" or "cid superior" or some other crap? it's driving me nuts
like imagine being so against the exploration of a character who needs it because he got crumbs in canon that need expanding to also further the main antagonist's tale, to the point you have to use other character already being in the data as justification
just say you're an og purist and go at that point, smh
"oh, i'll quit if angeal is first"
it'll be fucking hilarious if that happens, would love seeing that kind of person quit so much

Do you think Gen will show up in Rebirth or the next game? I really want him too and people are saying it’s likely!
I'm 50-50 on if Gen shows up. If he DOES show up, I think it's more likely he shows up in the world with Zack, presumably to work with him as a potential ally. I'd be totally down for this, even if it means the inevitable Genesis-Sephiroth clash would be coming as a result. Honestly, I want them to bring Genesis back in a more positive light so that everyone will shut up about why he's the worst. Sassy sidekick Genesis would be a LOT of fun.
Some are saying that Genesis might really be the true villain of the trilogy and it makes me roll my eyes because that's NOT the takeaway of his character at the end of Crisis Core or Dirge. Genesis is directly said to be taking up the mantle of the planet's protector and living for both of his dead friends, despite waiting for the world to need him. So that's not very villain-coded to me.
If randos like Glenn or Shelke make a cameo and not Genesis, I'm going to be pretty pissy. Whether we like it or not, Dirge and CC established that Genesis is an important piece of lore within the Compilation, and that's not so easily ignored. Maybe they'll compromise by just having him be an optional boss fight similar to what they did with Weiss. But who knows?
If Genesis shows up, the plot could be majorly impacted. Genesis was, at one point, almost as strong as Sephiroth, though Seph has since had yet another massive power flux since then. It will be interesting to see if Genesis shows up in the Nibelheim flashback, though probably not since Cloud's memories didn't seem to reflect him at all.

Worldbuilding and theories of Engage
The fashion of Lythos and The Somniel.
The cassock is a garment worn by priests when performing religious duties. The fact there are three versions to represent Lythos demonstrates that there are a vast number of clergy who live in Out his serving the Divine Dragon. The garment covers most of the body so that there are no bodily distractions from one's work.
Frost, Stark, and Lake cassock / dress -The frost garments are covered in triangles, there are triangular patterns on the stark and lake garments as well, and these symbolise God / Divine Dragons.
Bible O.T. Genesis 1.1-2. 'God is represented as a triangle, symbolising the Trinity.'
The idea behind a garment being stark is that there is nothing to distract from one's duties, however the Stark cassock does have some golden detail.
The meaning behind the lake cassock is that of stillness. Stillness helps someone focus on prayer and spiritual meditation.
The stark, lake and the frost cassocks have symmetrical designs in gold. Reflection Symmetry is important in the bible as is demonstrated by the birth, death and rebirth of Christ and the Creation theory. Symmetry represents balance, beauty and truth. (I will discuss symmetry and the story of Engage at a later date.)
There appears to be no dress code like you would find in holy places in the real world. Women and men do not have to hide any part of their bodies and are free to display whatever part they like. The colours do not have to be sombre. The swimming garments are in bright celebratory colours of red, yellow, gold and blue.
The meaning behind the colour red in Christianity - red is a symbol of the blood of Christ. For 100's of years the teachings and words of Christ were written in red to set them apart from the rest of the Scripture.
Blue and red are also important in the story of Moses. Red represents the spiritual awakening of Moses when he is visited by God. Blue represents the hope and faith Moses has in God.
If you want to dress to visit Lythos and the Somniel then wear whatever you like.

happy WBW! i am so intrigued by prisma and wonder if you could go into a little more detail abt the colour coding? :)
Thank you for the ask! Conveniently, this is actually the subject of my brainrot and thus you are a very kind mutual. Sorry if this is a bit incoherent btw. I'll deep-dive the specific components at a later date.
The colour coding is a huge part of Prisma both in it's conception and worldbuilding. Each story revolving around their respective protagonist is coded a colour (I.E, Jack's story and red); themes, ideas, and symbolism regarding this occur both in a meta way and in an in-universe way.
Neat fact: Prisma is a play on the word "Prismatic", nodding to the fact that white can be split into the spectrum of colours by a prism.
Quick Breakdown of Prisma:
Prisma is the setting of these stories, and colours - hues are the primary power/magic system. A surreal other-land where figurative can become literal and vice versa. Hues are it's fundamental building block, existing both as an abstract but also a resource. Here is where our three protagonists come in: at some point in their stories they become 'Key Figures', a facet of that colour embodied in a person. I'll elaborate on that particular concept in another post.
I'll give you the rundown on each protagonist and their relation to the colour coding. These aren't the only aspects of the hues, but the main ones.
Jack, Red -
“It doesn’t matter what powers you hold, or the trials you’ve faced; as long as I reach into the four corners, my Judgement is tangible irregardless.”
Red watches over rules and conventions. It's a hue of hierarchy, of domination and submission, of judgement. It works with the pre-existing fabric of things, tending towards tangling things in it's rules rather than violating it's own tenets.
There's also another aspect integral to red: Mediums. In Prisma, a Medium is not someone who merely gazes ghosts, but possess sight that stretches past horizons; the domain of a medium is to wrench meaning from things. Mediumship as a quality is inherently linked to the hue of red.
What this means for Jack, my favourite red-eyed little bastard, is that his power is in pulling at exposed threads. People constantly transgress all sorts of rules - personal, natural, even physical rules; it just isn't noticed. Jack as a key figure is an Arbiter. By acknowledging a transgression the appropriate punishment is applied automatically as a principle of Prisma itself.
He can gaze at the True Names of things, unravel their nature and bring forth what lays dormant.
As a whole it also ties in with Jack's character and background. There's more to it but I'll elaborate on a dedicated post.
Hel, Blue -
Blue is to expand and grow endlessly. It's boon and plight is that everything that that it is will behold genesis, but all that they are is the horizon's boundary
The sky, the ocean; a roiling pit of genesis from which life sprung. Blue is desire and manifestation - the self crystalised into something tangible. In it's purest form as a hue it is creation unbridled. However, blue - deep, roiling blue, horizon spanning azure - is crystallisation of self. It's dominion ends past the boundary of self, past the ownership of such a minor existence.
Blue can create vast shapes and forms, even spring life to being with it's lustre, yet it has no control over that which it did not create.
Hel first wields this hue in the form of the Principle class artefact 'The Flask', a portion of the sky stolen and inverted long ago, bound by it's own genesis. Hel's character arc is about identity and assumptions, of presumed boundaries and humanity. And how enough imagination can transcend flesh.
Absorbing The Flask at the precipice of death something much vaster, and above all free. The key limitations of this hue remain true, but post-rebirth Hel's entire body is comprised of blue, they let it seep into the ground and spread themselves vast and wide. Something brilliantly inhuman.
Dorothea, Purple -
Pocket watches running in parallel and paradox to the march of moons
Such an awfully royal colour, and so fitting is it for sovereignty to be it's domain. Many things hold power over others: the moon over night and the passage of time, the land from which things sprout, and of course what every person owns: themself.
Dorothea's sovereignty is to fragment - split things into parts, isolate them and take ownership. If she wins ownership over something she can even fragment it's time; send things backwards, freeze things into a single state, steal something's time spent.
Red, Blue, and Purple form a colour triad, and one of purple's specialities is 'borrowing' from these. Out of all the hues Purple is the only one able to use aspects of another by collecting fragments belonging to them.
To the Lilac Sovereign what may be someone's present is merely a puzzle to rearrange to their whims.
Without subjects sovereignty means nothing. Thus, in pursuit of her own royalty Dorothea fragmented herself to become her very own pawn.
Extra Tidbits :
The powers a hue possesses has a lot to do with the associations and symbols connected with them, and while each hue has a scope of it's own they can present in several ways. A key figure is a pure manifestation and expression of the hue, often taking a specific thematic direction. Hues are used by others in the form of materials imbued with it naturally, artefacts, or by acquiring it as a part of oneself.
Red as a hue is violent and bloody and passionate, essential yet bitter like blood. That's kind of why I went with hierarchy/rules. Also got some prey/predator stuff going on.
Blue, to me, is a colour of imagination, creation, and things so vast it's terrifying. Think like life arising from the sea.
Royalty for purple, obviously, but I think it's a very moon-ish, celestial and mystical colour. Time, both as an invention to understand the passing of events better, and as a natural mechanism are very big here.
There are other hues and such and they do stuff but I'm focusing on blue, red, and purple as they're the colours of the respective protagonists.
The colour triad dynamic is kind of:
Red is concerned with rules and convention, judging and causing conclusion in the present.
Blue is creating things anew in the present that persist.
Purple isn't tethered to present: rearranging and altering the state of things.
ALSO: I really didn't want to do like "Red=Fire" or something and I wanted something symbolic to fit my surreal little world so the hues do not function in such a straightforward way.

The name Zack means “the Lord/ God remembers” all of the names (bar cloud) are biblical.
Genesis represents the beginning. He is literally a walking representation of the tree in the garden of Eden with his little apple and his flaming sword.
Angeal is just… Angel. Probably representative of the cherubim who guarded the garden (see not stealing the fruit for the Rhapsodos estate, and delivering Zack upon the youngest death.).
And Sephiroth (or Sefirot in Hebrew) means eminations and is one of the ten attributes in the Kabbalah. It also is close to the Hebrew seraph meaning Angel. But Sephiroth, most obviously is representative of both Eve and the snake. He is lured to evil (or sin) by JENOVA and also through Genesis’ goading and thus becomes the snake that would lure Cloud to his downfall.
In the case of Zack, he represents the death of Christ. He is killed unjustly even though he is the only soldier not corrupted by mako, J cells or S cells. He is kind, everybody likes him; he is a teacher to Cloud and a friend. He does so that Cloud and others may live. He is resurrected in rebirth but also via Clouds impersonation of him in OG and then he ascends back into the lifestream where he helps Aerith and Gaia protect the planet and its people. He and Aerith (who is also massively Jesus coded) are literally seated at the right hand of the father (or mother in this case).
They even wash away Geostigma (a visual stand in for sin as demonstrated by Kadaj’s speech about humanity never learning.) from the people. They absolve the repentant Cloud of his sins.
Therefore Cloud becomes a stand in for St Peter when he places the buster sword in a rock on the cliff where Zack died (visually representative of Christ’s cross on the hill.) and then later in an actual church.
Cloud is the rock on which Aerith and Zack’s church is built because “the Lord remembers”.
Nomura: Your name will be... Zack :)
Zack: What's that?
Nomura: Zack :)
Zack: Okay. Just to recap. Cloud, Aerith, Angeal, Sephiroth, Genesis, and-
Nomura: Zack :)
#I’m so sorry that just happened.#don’t ask me why I just find name origins and meaning fascinating#also biblical alagory is my jam#sorry for making a fun post factual#😬😬😬

2023 and 2024 New Education Policies Comparison
Introduction to India's Educational Reform
The introduction of the New Education Policy (NEP) in 2023 marked a significant milestone in India's educational reform, aiming to modernize, inclusivism, and elevate the quality of education to meet global standards. The subsequent evolution in 2024 further underscored the country's commitment to transforming its education system to address the diverse needs of its student population from preschool through higher education. Both policies collectively signify a monumental shift towards enhancing educational accessibility, quality, and innovation across India.

Genesis and Objectives of NEP 2023 and 2024
NEP 2023 emerged from extensive consultations with experts, educators, policymakers, and stakeholders, aiming to align India's education system with global standards and foster holistic student development. It sought to bridge gaps between traditional and contemporary pedagogical methods, emphasizing inclusivity, flexibility, and innovation.
New Education Policy 2024 built upon the foundational aims of its predecessor, focusing on digital empowerment, holistic learning, and a robust framework for skill development. It represents a philosophical rebirth designed to cater to the modern world's demands, positioning India as a formidable information powerhouse on the international stage.
Key Features and Innovations
Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)
Both policies recognize ECCE's paramount importance, with 2023 focusing on foundational learning stages and 2024 placing unprecedented emphasis on ECCE to establish a strong base for every child's educational journey.
Curriculum and Pedagogy
2023: Advocates for a flexible, interdisciplinary curriculum that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the integration of vocational skills into mainstream education.
2024: Introduces a novel 5+3+3+4 curriculum structure aimed at experiential and skill-oriented learning, promising a seamless educational continuum from early years to secondary schooling.
Assessment Reforms
2023: Proposes shifting from rote learning and high-stakes exams to a more holistic, competency-based assessment system.
2024: Aims to revolutionize assessments with comprehensive, adaptive mechanisms that foster deeper, application-oriented learning.
Digital Education and Technology Integration
Both policies emphasize the role of technology in education, with 2023 focusing on promoting digital literacy and online learning, and 2024 taking significant strides towards digitalizing all schools and making quality education accessible through digital platforms like DIKSHA.
Teacher Training and Development
Continuous professional development for teachers is a focus in both policies. 2023 introduces integrated teacher education programs, while 2024 continues to ensure educators are equipped with modern pedagogical skills.
Inclusivity and Accessibility
2023 emphasizes special education programs and inclusive education for students with disabilities. 2024 commits to making education accessible to all, breaking down barriers for socio-economically disadvantaged groups.
Comparative Analysis: Implementation and Evolution
NEP 2023 laid the foundational framework for a comprehensive overhaul of India’s educational infrastructure, focusing on early child education, curriculum reform, and assessment changes. NEP 2024 promised further advancements, including the introduction of coding from a young age, advocating for multidisciplinary institutions and flexible course structures, and implementing an innovative academic credit bank system.
Detailed Exploration of Goals and Aspirations
Both policies share the overarching ambition of elevating India’s educational standards to global acclaim. NEP 2023 initiated this journey by addressing the evolving needs of the education system, while NEP 2024 aimed to solidify India’s status as a global knowledge superpower through strategic amendments aimed at enhancing educational quality and accessibility.
Impact on Preschools and Early Childhood Education
The NEP recognizes the critical role of preschool education in laying a strong foundation for a child’s future learning journey. NEP 2023 and 2024 collectively emphasize curriculum enhancement, teacher training, assessment practices, digital integration, a multilingual approach, and inclusivity, significantly impacting preschools and early childhood education centers across the nation.
Challenges and Opportunities
Implementing such transformative policies is not without its challenges, including the need for substantial teacher training, infrastructure development, technological access, and ensuring inclusivity. However, these reforms also present unparalleled opportunities for fostering a generation of students who are well-prepared for the complexities of the modern world, equipped with critical thinking skills, digital literacy, and a strong educational foundation.
Stakeholder Perspectives
The success of NEP 2023 and 2024 hinges on collaborative efforts from all stakeholders, including educators, parents, policymakers, and the community at large. Their active engagement, feedback, and adaptation are crucial for realizing the policies' full potential and creating an educational ecosystem that empowers every child in India.
Conclusion: A Progressive Continuum Towards Educational Excellence
The NEPs for 2023 and 2024 are progressive steps in the direction of remaking Indian education; while each has a distinct area of emphasis, they all work together to create a framework that is inclusive, adaptable, and contemporary. These initiatives seek to equip Indian students not only for regional achievement but also for success in the global arena. The transition from NEP 2023 to 2024, which represents India's continued path of educational reform, offers a clear picture of a future in which high-quality education will be available to everyone and raise a generation of internationally aware, enlightened citizens who are prepared to contribute to both national and global advancement.

Finished watching Code: Realize just now and throughout the scene above I was actually sobbing cause Finis just wanted to be loved by his evil f**ked up father but said, father was too far up his own a*s to even give him a shred of love that I believe he’d once held for him (in the memory glimpse of the past we saw but honestly that's just me trying to be optimistic). So when Cardia said she’ll love him my mind just went poof I'm not sure how else to describe it... Then what really broke me was when he said he refused and subsequently plummeted to the ground of the ship and thus dying. The thing with this scene is we just see his eyes light up with what I'm gonna call hope and that little smile he had before his death along with the tears he was shedding as he fell... I think those were tears of peace with a dash of happiness and honestly, my heart ached for him (not just here of course but this was the climax of said ache). After his death scene, I felt pretty numb to the other emotions shown in this episode by the characters like idk Finis was my fave from the moment we first see him in the anime so watching him die was just like a stab to the heart.
Hence why Cardia and Lupin’s wedding was bittersweet for me... Cause looking out into the crowd we see pretty much all the main characters but not Cardia’s brother, not Finis and that just hurt me even more (as if that was even possible).... He had more of a right to be there than any of the others he's her little brother! I almost started crying again upon noting that... I was a bit happy to see Cardia get the happy ending she deserves though... 😌

He is extremely autistic coded to me at least
Like him always knowing deep down that he's different hit hard for me as a late diagnosed autistic person.
There's also the whole thing with him having trouble socializing with other's even though yes that is due to isolation, but also is relatable to most autistic people.
Also heithened senses could lead to sensory issues. At least my personal headcanon for why he doesn't wear a shirt is not just because it sells, but also he just finds it more comfortable than the texture of the shirt.
I also want to point out that since one of Jenova's abilities is to mimic people, Sephiroth subconsciously does that to fit in, just like masking. A good example is that he likely picked up the random yapping he likes to do whenever he appears in remake and rebirth from Genesis and I refuse to believe otherwise.
Anyway Sephiroth's autism is just so important to me, like it's not even funny.
Sephiroth is incredibly autism coded
He's just like me fr

Spoilers for Code: Realize - Guardian of Rebirth and Future Blessings:
Having now finished the whole game and all the possible endings and extras, I wanted to write about the experience as a whole. My thoughts on the routes were a but more rushed so I plan on taking my time with this post.
All in all I am extremely happy with this game. I understand why it’s often recommended as a first otome game to play (alongside Piofiore, Collar x Malice etc), and it was the first otome game for me as well. Graphics were beautiful and I enjoyed the overall flow of the game pretty well. I didn’t want to miss anything so I played everything from the beginning with all the guys. The common route being quite long got a little tedious by the end of the game, but I found it went quite quickly if I put the auto skip on until there were parts I hadn’t played before. The only times I didn’t use the skip function were the first run (obviously) and the last because I wanted to enjoy the full experience during Lupin’s route. Path of Genesis came in handy after I decided to replay couple of the routes after finishing the game.
The extras were quite funny and enjoyable. I thought all of them added something to the characters and revealed new sides of them. I don’t think I will ever recover from Van’s hotness or Saint playing dumb while making Cardia help him get dressed (bless her poor innocent soul). The event gallery is very handy too. I like that you can play the scenes or just look at the pretty pictures. I’m currently playing Future Blessings and I’m similarly excited about Holmes’ route (or Sholmes, whichever) and Delly’s room.
When it comes to characters, nothing went as I thought it would. My prediction was I would love Lupin and Fran the most. Wroooooong. In the common route I found Lupin very distant until I played his scenes on it. He is still sort of a favourite but a lot of that has to do with the anime. I ended up watching that from Crunchyroll and oh boy, I loved Lupin x Cardia in that. Now the anime and the game have fused in my head and I do like Lupin’s route. I wished it was longer though, because a lot of his route is taken by the non-romantic aspects of the plot. I still cried when they fell off Nautilus though.
Saint was a surprise entirely. During common route he was downright boring. Obviously during his own route it became incredibly clear why he was so distant. I love his eyes, expressions and voice acting. The angst was immense and there are so many possibilities for their life together post-game. Before I got to Saint’s route I was not looking forward to it at all. That’s why his route felt like being slapped in the face by a ton of emotions. I sobbed so much while playing that I was a mess by the time his route ended. Saint had a ton of character growth and he is one of my favourites, absolutely.
I had Fran marked as a likely favourite before I played. I love sweet and intelligent guys and was really looking forward to it. My thoughts have changed slightly from my initial opinion after playing his route. I ended up playing his route twice, once during the recommended order and once after finishing the whole game once. After first play through, I thought his route was sweet but lacked the angst level I had realised I loved. I also thought there was too much of ‘I’ll save you’. After second play through I will have to acknowledge my thoughts have changed. His route is still sugary sweet and there is a lot of saving involved, BUT there was more angst simmering underneath the surface than I had initially thought. All in all, I took a while for his route to grow on me but after that it was great.
Now Van was another surprise. He is so emotionally constipated, it was hard for me to imagine where the story would go. His route is absolutely brilliant. The angst is all there and Ripper is one of my favourite side characters of any games. His route has the most sexual tension out of all the routes (in my opinion). That notion is also amplified by the extra chapter. Cardia was fierce during this route. She is otherwise as well but it was the most visible to me during this one. Van has a lot of character growth, like Saint, and I feel like he could make Cardia very happy. On the flip-side there is so much potential for trauma bonding, considering Cardia and Van are both traumatised. I replayed Van’s route as well and loved it as much the second time, if not more.
Impey was my least favourite (sorry, Impey lovers). The reasons actually have very little do with him and more to do with me. He is cheery, cute and funny. But he flirts a lot and is so over the top with it, I find it hard to take it seriously. I was happy to find out more about Nemo, but that character annoyed me with how he spoke. Impey being a vampire was a surprise. Impey’s route had some loving moments and I think he is a lovely guy but sadly, he is not for me.
Then some random thoughts in the end. I’m excited for more scenes with Delly in Future Blessings. He is such a sweet boy who deserves all the love. Sisi is a little cutie too. Everytime he is on the screen, I swoon. I have started playing Future Blessings now too. I won’t get into that too much, but I have been thinking about doing an AU ending fanfic for Victor’s route in that. Additionally, I’ll be posting a load of screenshots I’ve taken once I go through them all. I might do some thoughts posts about Future Blessings as well.

Code: Realize: Let the Journey Begin
The promotional visual for the upcoming "Code:Realize" anime, done by miko before the anime visual was released. Pretty straight forward poster featuring all main characters with Lupin inviting you to "join in", much like we see at the beginning of the video game. This also gets A+++ points from me for having a smiling Van.
However, what I find interesting is that Cardia looks like shes's in fetal position, much like as if she was a chick inside an egg. I suppose that's one metaphorical way of looking at her & the journey of breaking out of her eggshell and getting to see the world once Lupin kidnaps her from the mansion in Wales. Break out into the world!
If re-posting please credit to “flowermiko” at Tumblr or Twitter. DO NOT UPLOAD TO ZEROCHAN. Thank you and enjoy!

(This is specifically ABOUT 3.0+1.0, NOT 3.0, or NGE)
Spoilers ahead
I have to wonder how eva’s japanese LGBT audience feels like after this movie. After 8 entire fucking years of khara putting out kawoshin merch NON-STOP, insinuating through interviews that kawoshin COULD be good for each other (really, it was only a matter of setting healthy boundaries if the looping was the only thing keeping kaworu attached to Shinji/sacrificing himself to cope with his fate), only for 3.0+1.0 to shoot it down in three minutes tops of exposition and not even allow room for ambiguity. I would believe that kawoshin was only a matter of a tragedic pair that could never be if it wasn’t for the fact that:
* Gendo is compared to Kaworu in the sense that both of them were lonely, played piano (yes, they really went there) and only had Yui/Shinji in the world. The idea is that both of them were dependent on their respective partners to somehow bring them happiness. So what is Gendo rewarded with, in shin eva? After abandoning, neglecting, abusing his own son, being mainly responsible for the state of the world and harming billions of innocents? He’s redeemed through a sob story and gets to be reunited with Yui. In other words, Gendo’s obsessiveness is remunerated with the same person he became dependent on, but Kaworu/Shinji have no choice but to separate indefinitely.
>Lovers committing double suicide believed that they would be united again in heaven, a view supported by feudal teaching in Edo period Japan, which taught that the bond between two lovers is continued into the next world, and by the teaching of Pure Land Buddhism wherein it is believed that through double suicide, one can approach rebirth in the Pure Land.
(this has not been confirmed canon, but god forbid the implications that the Gendo/Yui scene could have)
(Shinji and Kaworu don’t even get to stay as friends in the Neon Genesis, because the message is that Anno (Shinji) bid farewell to all of the eva characters and his relationship with them, for good. That’s why they go their opposite ways in the last train scene)
* Not to mention the wlw baiting with Asuka & Mari (Kaworu/Shinji parallels were even used in the promotional material to suggest that they had a bond akin to theirs), that also added up to nothing bc ig gay ppl only serve as Marketing Tools lol.
* Kaworu might be coupled with Rei in the “Neon Genesis”. Kaworu is a character that throughout the years (in spin-offs, drama CDs, magazines, you name it) has been portrayed as having little romantic/sexual interest in women and thus had been established as a more gay coded/leaning character to the audience/fans. “He could be bi/pan!” do you really think that this was not a decision made out of convenience because they didn’t want to commit to him being exclusively mlm?
Any traces of Shinji’s/Mari’s/Kaworu’s and even Maya’s queerness are as good as gone by the end of the film. Finito. This goes WAY beyond “omg we know your ship didn’t become canon but that doesn’t mean it’s queerbaiting!!” This is straight up 25 years that amounted to NOTHING but picking people’s pockets for profit and selling out the narrative that gay relationships are temporary and adults eventually settle down for the opposite sex (actual belief in the conservative parts of japan). How ppl are blind to this as if it has nothing to do with khara’s potential views on lgbt relationships is beyond me.
