Look at the single words below; wear these emotions on your face for just a moment. Try them on for size and note how they make you feel:Happiness. Fear. Anger. Sadness. Contempt. Surprise. Disgust. These are the basic human emotions which communicate with clear understanding across cultures, languages, and countries. In other words, a smile naturally conveys happiness and a frown naturally conveys sadness, no matter where you may be using your passport.

Being a therapist who is also a geek, writes fics, and draws fanart occasionally, and is just basically chronically on tumblr dot com is so funny because people will be like, “i do.. creative.. writing” or like, “i draw.. the characters.. i create… from the show..” and i’m just like, buddy we are literally one and the same

When you are sitting behind a desk with a person on the other side, there is a barrier between you that becomes a psychological and subliminal message. Some of the best leaders I know have a round table or a circle of chairs in their offices so that when people come in to speak with them, the arrangement lends itself to more engaging interaction. Using a roundtable in which there is no head fosters collaboration, cooperation, mutual respect, and equal positioning.

>sometimes I can’t help but look at certain yuri ships (or shippers) askance, because I have the feeling that you’re supposed to ship them, or write for them, as some sort of feminist activism, and not just because hehe hot girl kiss - or more seriously because you genuinely see a connection between those characters.
I think this is an issue with how the internet views female characters in general. No one's allowed to just have fun with them or just find them entertaining. With female characters, there's this nearly inescapable expectation that everything they do is/needs to be some kind of "take that" or political message. If you write a female character for any reason other than fighting back against such and such, then the writing is considered a disappointment. Which, in my opinion, is just as annoying as only objectifying them.
Female characters can't just be characters. They're always reduced to a list of yes and no questions.
Reminds me of how common it has become to dismiss any criticism against a female character, especially if they're a flat asshole, with "you just hate women!"
no, I can assure you, sometimes female characters are written in a way I dislike. It happens. I shouldn't contort myself into a pretzel to love every single female character I come across otherwise I'm oppressing myself.
It's a dangerous territory to walk on because yes, biases are a thing, and yes, undeniably, some communities are sexist or generally bigoted. Sometimes criticism against female characters really boils down to "idk she annoying", and by the same token, sometimes you do get the feeling that female characters and relationships are never given the chance (or, more commonly, women attracted to men are the predominant demographic of the shipping community so you know, they're more drawn to hot boy x hot boy action). But I have more respect for the people who actually pick up the pen and do the work to spread their Yuri Vision, than those who merely sneer that everyone who doesn't have a yuri OTP or doesn't stan an Evil Woman is a misogynist and setting back women's rights
