Annabeth, Frank, Jason combo would work but would be somewhat slow since theyre all leaders and have great minds-but they have different POVs of things and can often fall into a deep discussion-which you often dont have time for on the battlefield. its not like they argue, but theyre the types of people to think very deeply for every plan. Jason would see the strategic side of Frank and invite him inside his cabinroom, because he can see a leader inside of him. Then, Jason would invite him to join his and Annabeths planning.

Piper and Percy would be awkward at first, until they start talking about monsters theyve fought. Percy loves the stories Piper tells, because they always have wisdom and something to learn from. Her stories helped him understand that every situation different perspetives if youre willing to see it. It taught him patience & tolerance. Instead of being quick to anger, control is important-perhaps thats why he could control the poison in Misery, Pipers teaching helped his powers grow in a different way.

Leo having insecurity issues, would struggle to fit in with the others. I see him almost as a self pitying character, but he denies any self pity at the same time. With Hazel and funnily enough, Frank he would see strength. More on this later.

Nico would sit on the highest branch on the ship. Frank would fly and give him a blanket and silently sit there as a bird. You would think that it is the girls who gossip in theri room the most but NOO its the boys. They all gossip about someone or something. And they live for it. Jason and Percys dynamic would be fine, but they would butt heads for no reason. Which could mostly be due to stress and not sleeping well. I just dont really see them fighting over any leader spot, since WiseGirl is there to take that role.

i think my favourite pieces of media are those that just dont make sense if you dont view them as a love story. i came across this discovery as i was watching code geass ep 17 when lulu goes insane when he realises the one thing thats in his way is also the person he trusts completely. there is no other genuine explanation other than love for the reasoning of his reaction in that scene. with shirley he had this mellow yet sorrowful reaction when he realised he couldnt be with her anymore. not saying there wasnt a part of him that didnt love her but with suzaku? he goes berserk. whatever he felt couldnt have happened if he didnt love suzaku.

other good examples of this are frieren, orv, and house. there are more my brain is just kinda fried rn and i think these three are good examples of like. varying levels of how explicit the message is. (theyre all obvious af tho)

another example is orv which is a bit harder to know if youve only read the webtoon. orvs story just wouldnt exist if hsy didnt love kdj. if she didnt write yjh and then kdj wouldve died, plain and simple. and if kdj didnt love the story back then he wouldve also died. hsy, yjh, and kdj at their core are their love for each other. hsy spent 12 years writing a book everyday just for kdj to keep on living and in kaizenix she waited 50 years for him. yjh spent the entirety of orv learning how to love from kdj, through fighting alongside him, through protecting him, through seeing him die, even when he learned he wasnt real he still believed him, and in the end yjh was the one who let kdj be known in every universe. his mission was something that he only could brave through if he loved kdj. and he did. speaking of kdj, i think its very obvious to everyone but his self-sacrificial nature is due to him only knowing that as a love language. something else is how without kdjs love, orv also just wouldnt exist. if his love for twsa, for the chars, for STORIES, didnt exist, he wouldnt be alive. if he didnt keep on molding twsa, to be alongside every yjh and co, to suggest new plot points, he wouldve never came to love it.

onto my last example, house. now i think you gotta be a very specific type of person to catch them (its called not being homophobic) but man are house and wilson like. house the show itself. their love defines the show, from the first scene to the last. he only took that first case which started everything because of wilson. half of his stupid antics are because of wilson. his love starts and ends at wilson because he knows wilson will be the one person who will always be there consistently for him. because no matter what happens, like house getting sent to trial by tritter, or house failing to save amber, they will be together, whether they want to or not. so when wilson is diagnosed with cancer, he breaks. the one person who he thought would always be there for him. isnt. in fact, he'll die first. and so, he does everything. he listens to wilsons stupid fucking ideas because he needs wilson to be there for him, he needs wilson at his grave, not him at wilsons. thats why he gives everything to wilson, his vicodin, his attention, and even his life. the only reason he dies is so he can be with wilson. none of this actions can be done without love in them, absolutely none. i think my favourite quote of them is "if house chops down a tree, and wilson isnt around to hear it, did it really fall?" it just sums up their stupid, needy, insane, and romantic dynamic so much.

hello anon u have opened a can of worms i have been thinking abt this au for over a year. my xiyao hunger games au.... theyre technically both tributes, just not in the same games..?

they meet each other as victors, a few days after meng yao wins his games, as he waits for his victor interview with ceaser flickerman.

lan xichen had won the games previous to this, dominating both the in-game and out-of-game play, his early life career training from belonging to district 1 combined with his 'prince charming' aura makes him a favourite for the capitoltes, who clamour to sponsor him, and a BEAST in the games.

meng yao, who was not of a fan of the games as so much he saw it as an egregious feat of capitol power, and a fascinating lesson in propaganda, watched this with both awe and an analytical eye.

he would not volunteer for the games (he's neither stupid nor suicidal), but if the opportunity came to either rise up from the poor life he's living in district 11, or give his mother one less mouth to feed, he'd grab the chance with both hands.

they won in contrasting ways, due to their very different backgrounds and personalities

lan xichen won with honour (as much as children killing other children can be considered honourable). mainting his single alliance with his district mate until the end, winning with a final sword duel that had the capitolites swooning in their seats. he's the image of perfection, a low kill count leaves little blood to mar his image.

meng yao won with deception, almost all his kills coming from either literal or figurative backstabbing. as one of the underdogs, and malnourished 15 years old from district 11, he wouldnt win in a straight fight with most tributes, let alone the careers. despite this, he left a bloody trail behind him to become victor, with 2 direct and 4 infirect kills under his belt. (he's still a capitol darling, as most victors are, but in a more - we like you right now but we can and will turn on you if you make a slight mistake)

meng yao did not expect to win once reaped and is struggling to deal with being alive when he thought he'd be dead, so is having a minor breakdown waiting to be interviewed.

lan xichen decides to visit the new victor and give them some advice on how to deal with the victory tour and [gestures vageuly to capitol] that, and kindly interrupts the start of said breakdown. this somehow leads into mimicking the iconic hand-caressing-intense-eye-contact-meeting scene from cql (i love the scenet too much not to include it).

ANYWAYS this is getting too long now, but just know that meng yao had a MASSIVE crush on lan xichen as he watched him win his games, and if it weren't for his mini breakdown whilst waiting to be interviewed he would totally be internally fangirling, and that lan xichen is completealy enamoured with meng yao after meeting him once.

they become a favourite capitol pairing (not couple just yet), constrasting heights and images creating a perfect pair (this is self indulgeant).

saw someone else post about this and i really agree i think it just wasnt the right time for purgatory, the stakes were there but the vibe and the point in roleplay development for individual characters just.. wasnt it for me. I dont know what they have planned for the future so i cant say it shouldve happened later, but i think because of all the trips and vidcon the charas had just gotten to a point where they had started healing from their kids going missing only to be thrown into this, which can be a good point narratively but theres also a couple other things that kinda just didnt let it work out for me tbh

a lot of it was just the rules and events were weird? that probably makes no sense. but like from a viewer pov it felt like the characters were beta testers for this and the rules have been constantly changing, so its hard to get comfortable in. Like when theres a set of consistent rules teams are able to more accurately strategize and such and they couldnt really do that? so it just felt like weird improv the whole time which theyre very good at but it was just.. like idk unbalanced? thats a dif point that contributed

like etoiles pointed this out that they balanced the teams (not really imo) in game but not fandom-wise, like certain teams had a very large fanbase and certain others had a very small one, etc etc. And like for example blue team had much less people on consistently but by the time they realized that it was probably too late to change teams without an event like the one recently splitting green. I feel like the admins tried to mix up the players outside of their usual friend groups but it just kinda cut the ints in half? i know cellbit didnt wanna kill roier, bad was very isolated from all his regular friends and therefore nobody wanted to talk to him (he wasnt on their team), tubbo was kinda suffering because he couldnt use create. Red team was overwhelmingly loud, blue was crushingly quiet, green was... tbh not on a lot of the time. Not good to watch from most POVs

i could be wrong about a couple things but like this is my general feeling on it, odd timing and weird balancing combined with toxic fandoms caused by competitiveness within the streams kinda ruined it for me, you can only curate ur experience so much

I really like how you put the first part because it was also something that I had felt about the event but I couldn’t really pinpoint why? I’m sure that a lot of the planning came down to a lot of stuff we can’t see behind the scenes like trying to be mindful of the ccs/ admins schedules but scheduling purgatory so far out from the disappearance really changed a lot. Like I just got used to not having the eggs and being fine with that and a lot of the ccs did sort of move on/ adapt to it. Obviously most people want the eggs back safe but I think some novelty has worn off after being away from them for so long. I think purgatory would’ve had more of an effect if the wound was more fresh when purgatory took place it would’ve made the stakes higher and I don’t think as many people would be saying “oh I don’t care if the eggs die at this point just end purgatory.”

Also the rules changing I noticed too was really jarring from day to day. I feel like a lot of the qsmp is like this and it’s a product of the admins being quick to respond to complaints in general and changing things accordingly. In my ideal world where the admin team could’ve just run the event with a test group to almost like stress test the rules? but i doubt that’s a very viable option. It would’ve been nice to see teams strategize more than play off the cuff in the limited time frame they have I feel like that only really rewards people with spontaneous playstyles

I think a lot of the problems with balancing fanbases revolves around people not knowing how to act online. The qsmp has long stretches where there isn’t much character conflict so that’s attracted a lot of people who feel really attracted to one pov and just don’t know how to handle conflict. We’ve seen this stuff outside of purgatory like during the entirety of the elections arc and when characters have an insignificant argument in rp. I don’t think you could balance viewers while also balancing skill but its definitely a problem that exists and doesn’t really have a clean solution. Also I do think the division of teams was to encourage different people to interact or possibly drive more in rp angst but it did fall flat in ways that were unintended.

Overall I think a lot of purgatory was trying to cater to a lot of people at once but thats just not working. I enjoyed the event from the standpoint that no matter what the admins want a good audience experience and they wouldn’t intentionally let us down. This seems more like a fundamental flaw in the server maybe? That it’s just not structured to be doing competitive game in this format at the very least.

Beatrix and Vincent have squips

They’re both trying for the prize and basically take the squip as a “This is my only chance” kinda thing

Beatrix starts off liking how much the squip helps them with their project. But slowly they start spiraling because of the manipulation and when they notice how much they’ve drifted from everything they originally wanted because of the squip. This causes them to start trying to get rid of it

Vincent at first is wary of the squip but likes the accessibility and how he seems to have a bigger chance winning with it. He kills Ambrose on his own accord and stuff but basically the squip is like . His ghost Ambrose but a lot more encouraging of whatever it takes after the first murder. The squip also helps Vince come up with ways to dispose bodies. - In this AU Vincent would dress more like Ambrose and his squip combined(?)

Theyre both unaware that the other has a squip - the ghosts can see squips and kinda interact with each other. Saints stay far away as they can from squips.

Uhhh that’s all I have rn I wanna figure out if Beatrix should get rid of their squip before the pyre scene and how each of them would figure out the other one has a squip

Ok so, I was gonna do my thoughts on the new episode Yesterday, but I'm running on little sleep and just .. procesing lol but I I'll share some stuff now~

I gotta start by personality thanking Weiss for keeping me just barely out of the total depression zone after this episode lol I don't know where I would be if she wasn't around being silly and annoyed at everything lol she really made things better for all of us

That said she also really needs to talk about her problems. They all need it. But damn, I almost forgot that yes, this child lost her whole kingdom and doesn't even know if her family made it ok to Vaccuo. God Remnant is a mess!

I also have to thank Little for being adorable and making my life better lol seriously that 'I always wanted to Be Long, but I'm still just small' lives rent free in my head and I love it lol one of my highlights of the episode.

Bees!!! There were some of the best bees we've ever had!!! And we've had soany great moments before! But seriously, you can taste the happiness on Blake's tone!!! You can see the love in her eyes! And you can also feel the excitement and happiness from both Barb and Arryn and all of crwby on that whole scene! They've worked so hard for this! And it's finally happening!

Also loving the bi and lesbian colored flowers on that scene <3 I love how much crwby does to point to Blake as bi specially, ni characters ar often ignored/missclassified for the relationship they get into and I hate that. Blake's our Bi-Icon and she always will be

I didn't knew I needed Blake doing puns in my life lol but God it was glorious! Also it reminded me of that time Arryn said that she had troible voicing chibiBlake because 'Blake is so...not funny!' that she didnt know how to deliver the lines lol glad to see Blake's character growth, she deserves nothing less, and Arryn is killing it with the voice acting!

Speaking of voice Acting: Lindsay!!! OMG I've always been a huge fan of them as Ruby's voice actor, but theyre really stepping up their game this season! Hearing Ruby's voice being so devoided of emotion Is so painful to hear and Lindsay just sells it! 💔

Ruby has lost so, so much, and she hasn't even had time to mourn or just process... I feel like the moment when she saw the sword and broke was the moment she finally really understood that Penny was gone again... Like, I feel a part of her was still denying it, she wouldn't adress it directly or even accept to talk about It... But I mean, she isn't really talking about anything...

So maybe I'm just proyecting I guess

So it's official that emotions have an effect on Ever After's weather. The guards said that someone was purposefully ruining the king's birthday by making it rain. Yikes, this Is gonna get hard to watch... *Hugs Ruby*

I saw someone talk about The scene where Alice creates a flood with her tears and... Yeah, I can see that happening once Ruby finally reaches her límit. I'm so not ready

I had been sad for most of this episode, but Ruby's eulogy? I have not recovered. I don't think I ever will 😭😭😭😭😭 Penny deserved so much better.

Also as much as I would love to have Penny back again and for good... I think this chapter really made me feel like it's over with her, I'm not ok with it, but 'ces't la vie, right?

The girls asking Ruby is she's really ok with giving up the sword 😭😭 they all knew how important and special Penny was for Ruby and viceversa.

Ruby is definitely keeping that Sword tho, it's not even a question not just because of the tráiler (that I didn't watch but I've seen mentioned lol). According to Blake Alyx knew the object she was looking for because her heart told her and don't get me started on how much this says about Penny and Ruby's relationship 😭 you don't feel a pull on your heart for just about anyone! So that means Penny's Sword is the equivalent of Alyx's knife.

Also, I feel like Ruby will take the sword with her when they leave. Maybe as a second weapon, maybe she'll combine Crescent Rose with it like Jaune did with Pyrrha's armor

And Blake with the gold bit on Gambol Shroud but... Don't get me started on that I was honestly so disapointed on that after seeing the many cool designs the fandom had made lol

Anyways, I think it's important that Ruby felt the pull to the sword but Yang didn't really feel it towards her arm that is literally a part of herself.

The prices are so fascinating too and I think they're important on this point, but I linda want to make a separate post to talk about that because I have a lot to say lol. But the point is, the sword is Alyx's knife, that's gonna be important.

To end on a happy note: I'm never getting over Weiss hitting herself with the rock lol amazing, spectacular, perfect in every way.

new dnk translation thoughts to ramble about under the cut!

i was already somewhat aware of it based on my vague read-throughs of the manga version of these scenes, but i still think the process of flynn and yuris friendship budding is cute to read about

mostly because yuri ultimately didnt do anything too significant to warrant flynns attention. when they had the kerfuffle in chapter 1, yuri operated neutrally towards flynn just because he thought theres no reason to be rude to the new boy

and with chapter 2, he went with the intent of helping flynn because he didnt think flynn would manage. on the other hand, flynn memorized the path and was able to adapt because he himself operated on the assumption he needed to be self-sufficient. yuris rash decision to go look for him definitely cemented itself in flynns mind. meanwhile, the act came as second nature to yuri, and he only really started to question why he did it when he realized flynn wasnt in any actual trouble. you notice this kind of thing happen even when theyre adults in tov (most notable example is yuri trading places with flynn in dahngrest prison, but is not exclusive to that)

when flynn decides to go with the other boys, he mostly goes for the sake of the herbs his mother needs, but still considers yuris action prior a "debt to be repayed". and even as they conversed then, yuri himself notes that flynn wasnt really talking to anyone else but yuri then. flynn at that point already considered yuri to be worthwhile enough for conversation, even if he found yuris actions strange (he notes it multiple times!) (all the while yuri thinks hes also strange in turn. lol)

and the fight with the wolves is the first time they are able to operate on the same wavelength, with no misunderstandings and words being misspoken. this is especially apparent once the situation calms down. you can note how quickly flynn takes yuris genuine words as sarcasm afterwards (for the second time), or how yuri has to redirect the topic of conversation instantly, because he accidentally brought up flynns father again. fighting together with weapons is already a big deal to them in game, mostly because they are able to convey their feelings into their swords without a need to exchange words. but its still fascinating that such a thing starts to take root even before they were formally friends.

and speaking of yuri accidentally invoking flynns dad as a topic (this is unrelated to my prior point). while flynn only stills in place when yuri brings up his dad, he doesnt have rage overtake him like it did in ch1. i have determined that this happens for 3 reasons all combined into one

1. yuri quickly switches the topic (easy as that. how nice of him)

2. adults were present, so it would have been troublesome to act out (note that yuri narrates flynns expression changing as if its a mask he was putting on in an instant)

3. flynn probably felt no reason to lash out against yuri, even if he wasnt comfortable with the question. this due to the fact he already started to consider him in higher regard than what he had started with (note earlier points of the post again)

anyway thanks for reading! theres not much of a conclusion to all this yet. one of my favorite bits from the manga and yuris narration then is coming up, so im eager to see it in full detail directly from the novel. shoutout to delicate for doing all this work 🙌

Literally im the most insane about these guys. because they start by hating each other their whole relationship is built on this foundation of mutual needling, which. Win. But then when it DOES give way into subtle vulnerability and kindness (THE FUCKING. TEA SCENE. THE TEA SCENE I SWEAR TO GOD!!) it stops being “i hate your guts” and starts being “you’re my fourth best friend” because they GET each other. Theyre complete opposites in theory, but they Know what its like to be vulnerable and afraid and when their partner is too panicked to tease them? THATS when it cracks and they say what they mean instead of veiling it behind a personal cipher. God i just. Them, fr. They love each other so much

eunie & lanz: i have not stopped thinking abt the bathtub cutscene theyre everything to me. eunie “one of the boys” and lanz “one of the girls” for REAL theyre on Such a wavelength. I feel like having to deal with noah every day for 8 years put them in a blood bond or something. Theyre by far the rowdiest of the party because they will just start shit. Bitches who have no impulse control and love things so violently and joyously

eunie & sena: i think for a while there was that stiltedness there that comes with sena wanting to put on a front to be more likeable. I mean. “Eunie love”? unlike mio and sena tho i reckon eunie is able to help sena work through all of it much easier, because shes Eunie shes The most blunt person youll meet! And sena knows that a eunie compliment is fuckin rare. Conversely i think its also an opportunity for eunie to be more vulnerable in a way she isnt really with anyone else, bc she cant just needle sena the same way she does everyone else. They have this really supportive dynamic where Yes they will still banter and tease each other. But at the heart of it is a lot of communication and vocal kindness that is unique to these two in particular.

taion & lanz: everyone saying the bickering is a coverup for all the kisses theyre doing is on the money. Taion and lanz have a really similar dynamic to taion and eunie, but without a lot of the tenderness. So instead what you get is this bickering and poking at each other like one big game of gay chicken. YES they love each other, but they cant just say that because then they’ll lose. They are competing completely arbitrary. Taion says he’s not but he’s lying. Not being at odds with each other just somehow feels wrong!!

taion & sena: half the game these two are just clinging to each other because of their mutual desire to keep mio safe, and yeah it unites them but it also corrupts them a bit. neither of them are able to pull the other back from that threshold of worrying too much. After about lambda/maktha, i think they start to learn how to enjoy each other’s company without that mutual distance. Theyre almost like a balm for each other? Having spent so much time Focusing and Worrying together when they actually learn to relax i think they just become. Comfortable around each other. Like a mothers group

lanz & sena: you cant do this to me. Im not normal about them. “noah and mio were the first to be friends” yeah and a lot of that was the off-seeing and the ouroboros. Lanz and sena hit it off RIGHT away on day 1 even without having those connections. They are Literally partners and to be honest. I think they were almost ride or die from the beginning. Lanz being a defender? Sena desperately wanting to keep mio alive? It cumulates in this mutual understanding that their purpose in the team is to protect. And this definitely goes to unhealthy lengths because thats another reason they hit it off- theyre both so passionate. Lanz’s anger is unchecked, a constant tornado, but sena’s is like a powder keg on cooldown until someone lights it. And together theyre fuckin explosive, and thats not always a good thing, especially if they both think of themselves as expendable compared to the rest of their teammates. But fundamentally there is an understanding there that im so insane about. These bitches have so many issues and i love them so much.
