I don't always tag my queued reblogs/posts, in case it seems like I'm always active on this blog! I am sleep deprived and can only do the bare minimum. I've completely abandoned tagging reblogs, i might comment on stuff but I'm getting off social media in general so don't expect it.

Trigger thing I might do: I call people "bro", "bruh", "dude", and "man" a lot as gender-neutral terms. However, I've learned that might be offending to some. If I do use a masculine term with you and you don't like it, please tell me and I will stop! I do not mean to be hurtful in any way.

I understand why people make human Perry the Platypus mute, since his original character doesn't talk the way the rest of human characters do in the show. I can see that it's interesting to keep that non verbal part of his character.

But like, I'm sure that if Heinz took the time to learn platypus the same way he learnt whale, he could actually talk with Perry. Maybe Perry wouldn't talk a lot, but he would respond if prompted, would maintain conversation. (They kinda already do? But that's besides my point)

So while I like and understand mute Human Perry, the closer to canon in my opinion is for him to speak. Perhaps be a quiet guy who doesn't say much or who usually waits for others to speak first, but he does answer and talk out loud.

One of the biggest arguments I’ve seen used by the Ob*d*l*s against Anidala, is that scene in the ROTS novel where Padmé says she could trust OW with the secret of the rebellion and was hesitant to tell Anakin and I just wanna say:

Padmé wasn't an idiot. She was an extremely intelligent and competent woman, perfectly able to understand that loving Anakin and thinking that he could be trusted with a certain politic-related matter were two very different things and reducing her choice regarding who to trust with an important political matter only on the basis of her feelings of romantic love diminishes her professionalism, and this is why I say y'all could never understand her.

Padmé didn’t have to "love" OW or even like him at all to know he was the perfect Jedi to ask for help in a secret political matter.

That's the point being made in the novel, she’s hit with the realization that Anakin in this particular moment could not be told this piece of info because of his relationship with Palpatine, and Padmé specifically mentions in the Junior ROTS novel that she didn't want to make Anakin “keep a secret” if he didn’t agree with their stance because it’d be “unfair.” So this also played a part in why Padmé didn’t think it best to inform Anakin about the Rebellion. It honestly had little to do with her actually lacking trust in him, and more to do with the circumstances she was in not allowing her to be open with her husband and her not wanting to make him choose between his wife and his “father figure.”

However, Padmé knows OW’s political ideas aren't tied to ONE particular person but to a philosophy, one which is closer to her own, at that point. None of this was ever meant to be hinted as “romantic” or even remotely insinuated as romantic. It’s strictly professional and even the tone of the scene makes that so abundantly clear.

All I’m saying is that, some of these proshippers are doing the most out here to try and prove their ship, like my loves? You forgot a very important thing called ✨ context ✨ and regardless of her rational thinking, Padmé still went out of her way to try and talk out all of this Rebellion secrecy stuff with Anakin when she confronted him in the scene where she asks if he ever thought they were “fighting on the wrong side.” Padmé didn’t trust OW in the same way she trusted Anakin (with her entire self and being) she had the level of trust and love for Anakin that was only meant for him.

Mixing up her unwavering faith in Anakin as her husband with her trust in OW’s devotion to duty as her comrade/ally is purposely deluding yourself, because the two aren’t the same and therefore can’t be compared. An example of this is: Padmé constantly putting more value to Anakin’s words over OW’s in the end of ROTS when he came to tell her of Anakin’s “crimes”. She completely disregarded what OW had claimed about her husband and instead made her way to where Anakin was herself, to ask him directly. Despite what the truth was, this is proof of her trusting Anakin unconditionally, and I didn’t even think I had to spell that out because it’s as clear as day.

In conclusion, Padmé didn’t trust OW more than Anakin, she just knew the circumstances she was in didn’t exactly make it easy for her to openly talk with her husband about these matters and that’s part of what played into the issues they had in ROTS, it’s exactly what Sidious wanted. This scene in the novel doesn’t exist to imply some hidden romantic undertone that George was intending all along. No, far from that. George was always an “open, , clear and easy to understand” type of storyteller, so if the former was the case, this scene wouldn’t be any different if there was some hidden message or subtext the reader should be made aware of, George would make it obvious. Fact of the matter is, the one and only reason for this scene in the novel to exist is only to show to us as the “reader” that the narrative is tearing apart the Star-Crossed-lovers (Anakin and Padmé.) and visibly putting the two of them on different sides in the story because the consequences of this narrative choice is what will foreshadow and play into the inevitable and great fall of the couple and character in the future. Even the novel makes a very purposeful and clear distinction between “love and trust” in this chapter where all this occurs. Padmé’s dilemma in ROTS was overtly “Love vs Duty” and both GL and Natalie Portman have said so in ROTS features and a perfect example of this is the fact that Padmé loves Anakin, but knew she had to trust OW with the situation at hand. And if you want to talk “narratively” Padmé needed a reason to keep the Rebellion a secret from Anakin, thus leading to Palpatine to sense “betrayal” in Padmé later on, and using that to his advantage to manipulate Anakin even more into getting him to “suspect” her. It’s all spelt out for us and it’s not hard to miss. All it takes is a little media literacy and understanding context.

(Mind you, hypothetically, if this scene existed for literally any other reason, it would’ve been brought up again, but it wasn’t. It’s only mentioned once and exists for only one moment which was meant to serve a certain narrative and then it was done. There’s not much to make of it since the context of the scene is so clear.)

I think she has proven herself to be very intelligent in her research, and dedicated to furthering our studies, and bring Collectors new and exciting knowledge. Not bad for someone who was raised wrong by her useless parent. I thought she was just going to be a Brown Dwarf forever.

The Charmer: Oh, that's so funny coming from a Red Dwarf like you! The evaluation is over right? So maybe it's time for you to head home so you can keep on top of your work.

Uncle Coor: Excuse me? Are you really going to speak to me like that.

The Cartographer is shaking with rage, the Charmer sets a hand on their shoulder to keep them from lunging forward.

The Charmer: I think leaving would be in your best interest, actually. The Cartographer is upset, which means the Curator will be here shortly, and I don't much care for what you've said either!

Uncle Coor's face darkens, but he sings the song to let his children know they are leaving, before turning to leave himself.

“Oh, wait,” Kazuki said, bending down as Soushi went to step away now that the impromptu haircut was complete.

Why Kazuki had decided on now, of all times, to finally do this, Soushi didn’t know, but at least he’d been present to help. Stress did strange things to people, he supposed, and it was hard not to feel restless given the circumstances. Not being able to do something about it only intensified the feeling and Soushi knew Kazuki especially hated feeling useless, forced to wait for everyone else to act when he couldn’t.

“Here,” Kazuki said, sitting back up now and holding out his hand with a lock of his recently trimmed hair resting gently on his palm.

Soushi looked at him questioningly, having no idea what Kazuki was getting at here.

“You should keep it,” Kazuki added, smiling so sincerely it made something in Soushi’s chest hurt in spite of both the absurdity and the tension of the moment. “For luck.”

Soushi didn’t really understand, but even he could see this was a gift so he nodded anyway, offering his hand so Kazuki could deposit the small bundle of hair there – he’d need to find something to tie around it to keep the strands together. “Thank you.”

Kazuki just laughed lightly, apparently realizing that Soushi didn’t understand the gesture. “It’s something I read in a story once, giving a lock of hair to someone important in order to protect them. Maybe it’ll help keep you safe, too. And then I know this part of me still has purpose, even though it was cut off.”

Soushi’s mouth fell into a small ‘o’, the significance of the gesture suddenly coming together in his mind. He thought he remembered that story too, maybe something they’d read in school, or something someone had told them once. The details were fuzzy, but the intention was clear: a talisman of protection and token of affection combined into one.

His expression switched to one of determination and he picked up the scissors again, ignoring Kazuki’s look of concern. This was something Soushi virtually never did, but his hair was certainly less important than the person sitting before him. He snipped a small bit from the end of his own ponytail and then offered it to Kazuki, who was staring at him in state of seemingly near shock.

“Here,” Soushi said, holding it out perhaps a bit too insistently, his body maybe a bit too stiff. “You need protection, too. Though we’ll both need to find some string, or…”

Kazuki’s surprise melted into a smile, warm and genuine. “Thank you, Soushi.”

It was only hair, certainly not enough to really make a difference, but at times like these, Soushi was starting to understand the power of intention and belief. Story or not, superstition or not, anything that might keep Kazuki safe was worth trying. He’d keep the lock of Kazuki’s hair close too – whether it really provided protection or not, it carried Kazuki’s thoughts and love, and that was enough. Besides, Soushi would always treasure having something of Kazuki’s that he could hold so closely.
