I wasn’t born to become an adult in such an irrevocable way and to earn my living in jobs where there has always been a hint of competition and cruelty
I wasn’t born to become an adult in such an irrevocable way and to earn my living in jobs where there has always been a hint of competition and cruelty. I was a peaceful child who was able to earn excellent grades only because I had an excellent memory and a docile character, and was inclined to hide my subtle rebelliousness. I wasn’t suited for the brutal competition in men’s sports and even less for the competitiveness of everyday life, for those responsibilities that crush your chest in the dark and keep you awake, or make you open your eyes in despair minutes before the alarm clock goes off. I was no good at fighting in the schoolyard, nor was I any good at fighting at a boardroom table later on. The only aspect of non–child life that ever really interested me was falling in love. I was useless at anything I felt forced to do or that I resigned myself to do with varying degrees of conviction or disbelief. That natural goodness inside me wasn’t always enough to prevent me from degrading behavior.

I appreciate those who adjusted my crown without telling the world how heavy it had become and spoke life to me when I couldn't utter an encouraging word. I'm grateful that I consistently cross paths with people who recognize the power and potential in others and take it upon themselves to congratulate, compliment, and collaborate - yet never try to compare, crush, or compete. I value individuals who authentically spread kindness, compassion, and wisdom everywhere they go and leave people better than they found them. I love when a person can love others and influence them to do the same. There is power in being a good person and an impact that reaches far beyond that initial interaction. Be someone who reminds others that there are genuine people in the world and inspires them to be great. Be the person you needed, yet may have never had. Be the one who shows others the freedom of truth by simply being yourself.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?  Run in such a way as to get the prize.  Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.  They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

Length Of Days
“For by Me [Wisdom from God] your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.” Proverbs 9:11AMPC
Stress won't directly kill us. But unmanaged stress will take a major toll on our physical and emotional health. Unresolved stress can increase the risk of heart disease, strokes, cancer, nerve disorders and many other issues.
Hosea 4:6ESV “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” As simple as not knowing what is healthy and what’s not healthy when eating causes oxidative stress and inflammation in the body. Obtaining the needed knowledge is primary, because inflammation is a killer. God wants us to have and use wisdom to help our bodies.
Another stressor to the body is— demands on time. President Trump is an amazing example of one capable of handling stress time.
Years ago, I was a full-time wife and mother of three, with a traveling husband. Although Lou was involved in our daily lives, it wasn’t quite like if he was present daily. Add to the mix a part-time sales job, which ended out being from forty to eighty hours in any given week. Juggling these with nothing coming up short was impossible —without God’s help. Literally, I had to focus on fifteen minute time intervals to not waste precious time. X-ing out quiet time with God would’ve been a major mistake. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10NKJV. Where else does the “The fear of the Lord” come from if not from God’s Word? My life depended upon His wisdom.
Proverbs 3:1-2ESV “…do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.” That alone time with Yahweh gave me tips on how to better use time, what to cross off the schedule, meetings to attend, etc. The best business management skills cannot compete with the stress relieving education of Holy Spirit. He knows the unexpected phone calls and their duration. Amazingly, I found the longest calls came in when I’d scheduled a few down time minutes. Thus “length of days” has multiple meanings from time management to stretching out time, and longer life.
My daughter amazes me now as she juggles an extremely busy schedule. Then I remember, she prioritizes her alone time with God first. From that time with God-Wisdom, she leaves stress behind, coordinating all the other things in her schedule, including her daily mile walks.
What are you doing for your health? Your working wisdom? Peace? Longevity? Is seeking Wisdom prioritized the first part of your daily life? The difference is amazing. It’s your choice. You choose.
LET’S PRAY: LORD You are our number One need. Help us all to realize this, I ask, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Talk to me naace EP Review, Zulo (2022)
By Banzii Mavuso
Track 1. Let’s talk seems like Zulo’s long-awaited announcement of his hero’s journey with delicious vocals sampling a house classic.
A bold announcement of his arrival.
I read a review on Slikour Online by Lesiba that goes: “If you take a look at ZULO cover art you will notice a common character and his name is Tricky, the bunny. In the same way Kanye West used the Dropout Bear, Tricky the bunny is a personification of ZULO and his journey in the South African music industry. Tricky, the bunny is pictured being teleported by a beam of light, a nod to his love of sci-fi. This symbolises ZULO's ascension into the next phase of his career. It's important to note that Tricky isn't resisting the beam of light. In ZULO's words, "the bear is floating because I'm on autopilot."
He is letting everything be. No longer is the old, frustrated figure of Lil Trix. All that is meant for him will come to him. Tricky, the bunny is at the center of a storm, which is purposeful.
Leading up to this EP, ZULO had gone through various tests in his personal life, but he acknowledges that ZULO was born out of the chaos. Tricky being at the center of the storm symbolizes that rebirth.
For me, I discovered Zulo on Instagram about a year ago and gave him a chance. Sonically, Talk to me naace, is one of the best pieces of work I have heard in 2022 and in 2024.
Track 2. Supreme is a deeper dive into his Zuloverse. Supreme, Supreme. Supreme. Sonically it reminds me of a cyborg movie in audio form.
Track 3. Portals is one of my favorite tracks. Why you catching feelings? Colored boy from the burbs. As a producer and vibes bringer, we see him announcing ‘You in the fucking saga.’ We know he doesn’t publicly announce his love for AKA But as SupaMega fans, we are aware of the Saga as his collaboration with Anatii.
As a Virgo, Zulo delights in keeping things in perspective and also vocalizes his love for the Wayans Brothers. The chants in the song make it deeply relevant to South African youth culture. Showcasing the diversity of his country by featuring a variety of artists.
Track 4. JUST VAARBS. Is a flossing, easy chilling, I really do this easy-type song. Okay, Okay, Okay. This is everything you ever wanted. Hocus Potent, the strain is potent. This is my moment. Listing one of his favorite directors Wes Anderston. You talk too much; you tweet too much. I caught my sub. Never meant to cause you any pain. She said, you wanna smell my punani?” Janet Jackson. I should have left you to be happy. Reminiscing of old love and taking accountability as a man. The beat switches a bit to a Kendrick-eque vibe with a Virgo-Michael Jackson salute.
Track 5. Love your life. A potently sweet message wrapped in Eldo, Jozi vibes, chilling with his favorite Jozi artists like Dox. Rsa.
"Relax, take it easy, I know you can’t. Skyf bietjie daarso, Keep feeding my soul. Better part of me that I’ve suppressed. Lost a lotta opportunities in my defense."
"They say your attitude in life defines success."
Name drops Leon Schuster. An Afrikaner older man, a staple in South African comedy industry. Trust the process is the message. Dox RSA comes in with easy vocals reminding us of our favorite musicians Boom Shaka, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah with a Neo Soul Pantsula twist. Sample of a house classic and sultry vocals before the song ends, la la la la la and sax.
Featuring a sample from DJ Ganyani's 'Talk to me' ft. Layla. We see a deeper dive into his interests, true interpretation of sounds. All the elements, samples and interpolations in the album are used in a way that conveys ZULO's vision.
There are moments on the album like "JUST VAARBS" where you can feel the identity of a truly unique South African talent shining through the Kwaito inspired production.
He has moments of pure genius. Every switch in tempo or flow or cadence comes as a surprise. It's the same quality that you experience in a movie that you can't quite tell where it's going. It is more of a listening experience than a song.
I think that's the one thing I could take away from "Talk to Me Naarce". It's a coming-of-age story.
A journey of ZULO and the experiences that shaped him. In his words, "There is no such thing as slept on. You're just not doing enough. Talk to Me Naarce now!"

2023 SEPTEMBER 22 Friday
"Those who want to be rich are falling into temptation and into a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge them into ruin and destruction.
For the love of money is the root of all evils, and some people in their desire for it have strayed from the faith and have pierced themselves with many pains.
But you, man of God, avoid all this. Instead, pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Compete well for the faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called."
~ 1 Timothy 6:9-12a
