I know that was a shitpost for the latest Danny Phantom fandom meme, but I'm genuinely impressed and how authentic it sounds. How much of Dash's monologue is real advice, and how do you know all of that? Do you work out?
Yes I'm so sorry to inform my good people of Tumblr that I've secretly been a part of the gym fandom for all this time. I've only recently come out as a gymbro in this phandom via my creation of the current dp gym bro au meme that I've forced upon everyone in this good holy christian space. I mix whey protein into my overnight oats, I track my macros, and I have a closet full of Gym Girlie Outfits™️.
And just know it's a badge of honor that I carry to be able to say I've converted multiple members of the Danny Phantom phandom into regular gym goers as well 💪
#all jokes aside i grew up in a very athletic family#where talking about things like gym routines and protein tracking was very normal#i worked as a tennis coach for a few years before i was injured (by my own hubris) and was forced to quit#i've been rebuilding my body basically from like the ground floor since the injury#and while at first it was frustrating cuz i had to learn how to do things i'd always been able to do before#(and yes i did cry on my yoga mat more than one time in the beginning)#now i'm learning to have fun with it!#im still very weak compared to where i once was#and it doesn't help that i was set back by other injuries that came from not taking care of myself like a bad knee#but slowlyyyy i'm getting there#i once thought i'd never be able to do an unassisted pull up again#and now i can see it within my reach!#very exciting#i love love loveeeee being strong#Also yes it's real advice to train the 'minor' muscles#for example a lot of lower back pain comes from a weak glute medius#ppl be focusing on the glute max cuz it's the big one and forget about the other glutes#compound exercises are a great way to hit multiple muscles at once

[gripping the sink, visibly disheveled, kubrick staring into the mirror] i will not become better out of shame i will become better out of love
#speak friend and enter#since i've gotten medicated i've felt a lot less angry just kind of on a baseline level#but it's still very frustrating to train myself out of the knee-jerk reaction of snapping at people whenever i'm inconvenienced#like that was my default state of being for YEARS because i was too lost in the post-traumatic sauce to recognize the rammys#and it pushed a lot of people away from me which only compounded the loneliness factor that i think is at the base of a lot of that#but it's frustrating to finally feel like i'm making progress out of this hole that i've spent almost ten years in just to slip backward#and i KNOW i know recovery isn't linear i get that. but still! it's frustrating! which makes me feel bad! because im trying not to be angry#at least not all the time. i know pushing it down only makes it worse but i struggle for healthy outlets yknow?#i think i'm gonna try like art journaling or something. just to use my hands to be able to get it out.#i think another thing is that i'm exercising a lot more than i was even like a month ago so my blood sugar isn't regulating quite right#which is fixable with time and carbs. i think that's a lot of it too. like i'll snap at something and be like 'ohhh i need. a candy bar'#and that'll fix it 9/10 times. anywho. this recovery business is hard work. but i can do it

Another thing is, this makes it harder to talk about trauma recovery. If everything can be "gaslighting", what do we call the real thing?
is that person actually "demanding emotional labour" from you or did you follow one shitty therapist on twitter

I never do lunge-based exercises at the gym and the reason why, besides the fact that lunges (quad-focused exercises in general) are torture, is that I have a terrible sense of balance and am always fighting not to fall over when doing them
#guess who fell again. guess.#leigh speaks#i only do them in my room now 💀#deadlifts are exempt from this complaint btw bc it’s a compound exercise. and I love DLs.
