I can't really imagine how Sukpatch "Lite Hits" was welcomed in the early 1990s. Really, this sounds like an LP that arrived about 30 years too early. Today, this would fit nicely next to releases from either Mo Troper (listen to those vocals) or Cindy Lee. Some of the beats make me think of The Go! Team.
According to the Bandcamp page, Sukpatch (Minneapolis) and bands like The Ah Club and Land of the Loops were almost interchangeable. Originally released as a cassette on Slabco, this is being released on vinyl by Concentric Circles (Portland) who previously brought us Sternpost and Moonlove.

I completely forgot I had these mini-mini box canvases until recently when I happened upon them while looking for something else. Goodness me, they are so cute to work with!
This is the second version of Razzle Dazzle. As with the other one (see recent posts), this one will be attached to a white card and will have more stitched and beaded fabrics around the edges, making this 7cm x 7cm canvas art a little bit bigger once it's finished being utterly decorated! 🤩

Self Similar: Monumental Land Art From Hand-Formed Pyramids
Artist Jim Denevan takes to Abu Dhabi, UAE to create his latest large-scale land art installation ‘Self Similar,’ which has been sculpted as a central part of a city-wide light art exhibition, Manar Abu Dhabi, curated by Reem Fadda and Alia Zaal Lootah. The vast, yet ephemeral, land art is made from 448 hand-formed pyramids and mounds laid out in 19 concentric circles. Together, they form a mesmerizing mandala pattern that invites the public inside to experience the design’s effects.

Each of us is, as it were, circumscribed by many circles; some of which are less, but others larger, and some comprehend, but others are comprehended, according to the different and unequal habitudes with respect to each other.
For the first, indeed, and most proximate circle is that which everyone describes about his own mind as a centre, in which circle the body, and whatever is assumed for the sake of the body, are comprehended … The second from this, and which is at a greater distance from the centre, but comprehends the first circle, is that in which parents, brothers, wife, and children are arranged. The third circle from the centre is that which contains uncles and aunts, grandfathers and grandmothers, and the children of brothers and sisters … Next to this is that which contains the common people, then that which comprehends those of the same tribe, afterwards that which contains the citizens; and then two other circles follow, one being the circle of those that dwell in the vicinity of the city, and the other, of those of the same province. But the outermost and greatest circle, and which comprehends all the other circles, is that of the whole human race … it is the province of him who strives to conduct himself properly in each of these connections to collect, in a certain respect, the circles, as it were, to one centre, and always to endeavour earnestly to transfer himself from the comprehending circles to the several particulars which they comprehend.
It is requisite, likewise, to add a proper measure conformably to the general use of appellations, calling indeed cousins, uncles and aunts, by the name of brothers, fathers and mothers; but of other kindred, to denominate some uncles, others the children of brothers or sisters, and others cousins, according to the difference of age, for the sake of the abundant extension which there is in names. For this mode of appellation will be no obscure indication of our sedulous attention to each of these relatives; and at the same time will incite, and extend us in a greater degree, to the contraction as it were of the above mentioned circles.
—Hierocles (Ἱεροκλῆς), The Elements of Ethics (Ἠθικὴ στοιχείωσις)(c 150 BCE). Below: a graphic presentation of the concentric system of relationship circles in Hierocles' theory of οἰκείωσις. :: [Robert Scott Horton]

To Aristotle, the universe was a collection of fifty-five concentric crystalline spheres, the outermost being heaven surrounding those of the planets, earth and its elements, and finally the seven circles of hell.¹
1. More accurately, this appears to be a medieval conception with historical roots that go back to Aristotle.

I know I've admitted to this before, but I use Monorail Music's frequent emails as a tool for hearing new music. A couple of days ago, the email touted a reissue of Sternpost "Ulrika".
Sternpost is the solo project of Petter Herbertsson (Malmö, Sweden) - a librarian and baroque musician. Here is an excerpt from the Monorail email:
"Ulrika is utterly breathtaking work, some deep Robert Wyatt collabing with Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci slanted and decanted arrangements, some oblique songwriting that sounds like Zombies’ Odyssey & Oracle by way of BBC Radiophonic Workshop and plenty of playing that sounds like that sweetspot in say, 1970, before prog rock and after psyche. This is music you HAVE to hear...it almost makes us think of The Pastels circa NOW baby...Ulrika...presses those Euros Childs buttons along with the bleeps and bloops on whatever vintage synth they’re using."
Wow. I listened and everything said is true. I would add this reminds me of The High Llamas. This is wonderfully interesting and catchy in places, but it is also experimental. So when thinking of all the above sounds, think of the experimental side.
This is a reissue on Portland label Concentric Circles (responsible for the Moonlove reissue a few years back).

Shattered Dimensions -1
Tumblr media
In a vast, endless void, shards of glass-like fragments float weightlessly, suspended as if reality itself has been broken into pieces. Each shard reflects a dazzling spectrum of colors—vivid electric blues, blazing reds, and soft, dreamy pastels. The shards overlap and blend at the edges, creating a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of shifting hues, where no two reflections are the same. The shapes seem to twist and turn, catching the light at different angles, as if part of a fractured mirror that reflects a distorted version of reality. The scene evokes a sense of disorientation, as the boundaries between dimension and perception blur in this surreal and fragmented universe. https://www.artpal.com/Timeles-prints/
