Carrier Instincts
Bit of a swap but I got an itch so Optiratch with Bumblebee son
Bc that’s their son yes
Also fudged the bond and creator coding stuff so If it’s completely wrong just idk ignore me :]
Pt.1 Pt.2
—•—•—•—•—
Many cycles have passed since the emergence of their once tiny, yellow, youngling. Bumblebee is now a nearly grown Bot, so Optimus and Ratchet have found that their Carrier and Sire coding isn't fully offline but rather a secondary instinct- if rarely used at all these days.
The situation Ratchet finds himself in contradicts this idea though, as his frame seems to react even before his processor.
His optics and audio receptors booting up simultaneously brings the sight of his yellow youngling clutched between his arms and soon after the sound of sad chirping, the poor Sparkling- Bot- seems to be desperate for some type of comfort which his Carrier attempts to give with soft rumbles from his engine; something he knows soothed the bot when he was young.
It does the trick as the chirping subsided and his creations optics reboot, bright blue peers up at him and his spark twists at the pitiful sight,
“It’s alright. I’m here-“
A shift from the other side of their comically large berth pauses the old mech as his bonded seems to pull out of recharge slowly, optics flickering a familiar blue but there’s no real evidence of him being awake as his servo clumsily pats their younglings head. The scraping causes Ratchet to wince- There’s definitely some paint transfer from that. It doesn’t seem to bother the Scout who grumbles in contentment from his Sire’s halfaft attention.
“Enough of that,” Optimus’ Servo is pushed to the side as Ratchet turns himself and their Creation to the side, away from the clutches of the half awake Prime who grunts behind him tossing a clumsy arm over the two and slipping back into recharge.
Bumblebee's helm rests against Ratchet's chassis and continues to purr quietly, content. Ratchet returns his call with a deep rumble from his chassis which causes the smaller bot’s optics to flicker off and ease into his carrier's embrace. Ratchet slips into recharge soon after Bumblebee does. They continue to rest well past Ratchet’s preferred time to begin his work. Yet the older bot can’t seem to bring himself to care, even as the nagging in the back of his processor chides himself for his lack of productivity- a smaller but far more dominating directive squashes any thought of disrupting his Creations recharge. Even if his bonded has long left their berthroom with a chaise kiss to his helm and an affectionate pat of their creations helm.
He only allows himself up once his youngling struggles against his grip which he loosens, reluctantly, allowing for the mech to roll off the berth.
“Will we talk about last night?” His question is met with a noncommittal chirp and pedes kicking around nonexistent dirt on his clean berthroom floor, “No, I’m presuming.” The Yellow bot slips from the room, though not before pulling playfully on the bond between him and his carrier, appreciation and love seeping through their connection- vague confusion prods through from the Sire which quickly morphs into happiness, enjoying being included.

I started writing "4 srs" this month and I like how free and accessible writing is, so I'm recommending free software I've experimented with that might help people who want to get into the hobby!
“Specifically Created for Writing Stories”
-------------------------------
Manuskript – Story organizer / word processor. Has an outliner and index card function, along with distraction free mode. Lets you switch between different templates such as a non-fiction mode or a short story.
Bibisco – Novel writing software that includes writing goals, world-building, distraction free mode, and a timeline.
“I Just Want to Write”
---------------------------
LibreOffice – Microsoft 365 alternative, but free! LibreOffice Writer is what I wrote this tumblr post in before I posted it. Also if you copy & paste the text into the Rich Text Editor on AO3, it seems that it actually converts it properly. Nice! No need for scripts.
Note-Taking
-------------------------------
Zim Wiki - note taking application that is very, very lightweight (1.1mb). It functions with a tree structure, so I’d personally recommend it for world-building and character bios. There are built-in plugins that also turn it into a good software for task management (it even has a article on how to use it for GTD) and journalling. See also: CherryTree (2mb), which is a more outdated-looking app, but functions similarly.
Obsidian MD – The Big Boy. markdown note editor that has been adopted by personal knowledge management fans---if it doesn’t do something you want it to do, just look in the community plugins to see if someone has already done it. Some unique non-word processing related usages I’ve found is the ability to create a table of contents dashboard, a image gallery for images, embedding youtube videos and timestamping notes, so forth.
Logseq – A bullet point based markdown note editor that also has PDF annotations, Zotero integration, flashcard creation, and whiteboards. Best used for outlining projects due to the bullet point structure.
Joplin – A modern app comparable to Zim Wiki, it’s basically just a note-taking software that uses folders and tags to sort easier. Looks prettier than Zim Wiki and Cherry Tree
Notion – An online-only website that allows usage of different database types. Free for personal use. Note: I dislike the AI updates that have been making the app lag more. I prefer the others on this list.
Mind Maps
-------------------------------
Freeplane – So much goddamn features, including a ton of add-ons. Looks somewhat ugly, but it works for anyone willing to spend a while learning how to use it.
Mermaid – Text-based diagram creator. Can be used in apps like Joplin, Notion, and Obsidian.
Obsidian’s Canvas – A core plugin for Obsidian, it deserves its own mention in that it allows you to create embedded notes of the mindmap nodes. Thus, if you want to create a 20-page long note and have it minimized to the size of a penny on the mindmap, you could.
Other Things That Might Be Of Interest
Syncthing - A free software that allows you to sync between two or more computers. Have a desktop but also laze around on a laptop in bed, coming up with ideas?? This is your buddy if you don't want to use a online software.

Team Dark Week: Creation
Summary: After seeing some of the files regarding Shadow’s creation, Omega has something of his own to reveal. For @teamdarkweek.
1890 words, no content warnings
---
“A loud Omega is normal. A quiet Omega is a cause for great concern,” Rouge said as she filed her nails.
“You’re right. He hasn’t been acting like himself since viewing the files.”
“Yeah.”
“He thinks of me differently now, doesn’t he?”
Rouge looked up. “I wouldn’t think so. Why would he care about how you were born?”
“Created.” Shadow corrected.
“Still. I don’t get how reading The Professor getting all weepy and emotional about you would piss him off. Unless his hatred of Robotniks is generational.”
“I shouldn’t have shown it.”
“Hey, look at me.” Rouge grabbed his hand. “You showed us for a reason. A damn good reason. Let me go talk to him, he might just be pissy about something stupid that’s entirely unrelated.”
“I doubt that.”
Rouge finished filing the nail she was on, before leaving the filing board on the countertop and disappearing into the hallway. She returned with Omega behind her.
“So what’s got you all snippy, hmm?” She asked him.
“I AM NOT ‘SNIPPY’.”
“You haven’t said very much since we got back.”
“I REQUIRED TIME TO PROCESS THE INFORMATION SHADOW HAS GRANTED US.”
“Did it anger you?”
“NEGATIVE.”
Shadow and Rouge glanced at each other.
“YOU SHARED THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF YOUR CREATION SO THAT WE MAY, QUOTE, ‘HELP YOU REMEMBER’.”
“I did.” Shadow replied.
“WHY WOULD YOU WANT US TO SEE A TIME WHERE YOU FOOLISHLY DID NOT HATE YOUR CREATOR?”
Shadow took a deep breath. “Because it’s part of who I am. His initial kindness to me and his reason for creating me are things I don’t wish to forget.”
Omega paused. Instead of saying anything more, he turned around and stomped back to his room.
At 10:00 PM, Omega yelled “TEAM MEETING.”
Shadow opened his bedroom door to see Omega standing in the doorway of his own room. Rouge emerged from her room with her headphones around her neck.
“What’s up, Omega?” She asked.
“THERE IS SOMETHING,” Omega paused. His cooling fans whirred higher. “I WISH TO SHOW YOU.”
“Alright.” Shadow replied.
Omega beckoned them into his room with his hand. It was strange to see him use a gesture instead of words. His room was bare, as usual, with the exception of his power cord and his desktop computer. A data cable snaked out of one of the computer’s ports. Shadow didn’t think Omega owned one, given his distaste for having his processor accessed.
Omega took the data cable and plugged himself in. The screen’s nuclear explosion background was overtaken by the scrolling data of Omega’s processor. Segments of the data began aligning, until a video player formed on screen.
“What are you going to show us?” Rouge asked.
“WATCH.”

REPLAYING MEMORY LOG _001. . .
---
“Isn’t it magnificent?”
Dr. Ivo Robotnik stood five feet forward, gesturing behind himself in front of two smaller robots, one yellow and one red.
“Yes, it truly is, master!” The red one crooned.
“I don’t know, seems to be missing a chin, if you ask me.” The yellow one put his hand on his own mentioned appendage.
“It doesn’t need a chin, you dolt!” Dr. Ivo Robotnik stepped forward and backhanded the faceplate of the yellow one.
The force of contact between the flesh of his hand and the metal of the yellow robot’s chassis was not enough to fracture any bones, but it was enough to burst small blood vessels close to the surface of his epidermis. This constituted an “injury”. It was forbidden for any Badnik to injure its creator. Such insolence must be punished immediately!
Unit E-123 marched forward and snatched the yellow robot by the throat. He quickly calculated that the position of his claws was ineffective for a target that did not require respiration. Unit E-123 had not been programmed to destroy robots beyond information on the basic tolerances of metal plating. He created a new folder in his programs and began compiling data for the possibility, before-
“Hahaha! No need, E-123. Put him down.”
Unit E-123 released his grasp, and the yellow robot fell to the ground before floating away at what he calculated to be the maximum speed it could achieve with its thrusters. The red robot also activated its thrusters and traveled a similar direction.
“See that?” Dr. Ivo Robotnik came beside Unit E-123’s extended arm. “That lethality? That obedience? Truly I’ve outdone myself this time.”
Dr. Ivo Robotnik placed his gloved hand on Unit E-123’s arm and pressed downwards. Unit E-123 understood the implicit command and returned to a neutral position. He swiveled his head and tilted his optics up to observe Dr. Ivo Robotnik’s face.
“I certainly solved the particular set of problems that bubbled up from the previous of its series!” Dr. Ivo Robotnik grinned. “Not to mention fit the most superior firepower of my entire army within a single chassis!”
Dr. Ivo Robotnik strolled around Unit E-123’s frame, scanning his eyes up and down. Unit E-123 followed with his optics.
“Heh, respectful, too! Keeping eye contact, ready to receive any order. Although we’ll see how that changes when its short-term adaptive processing calibrates and we start getting some more intelligent thought up there. . .”
Dr. Ivo Robotnik turned and interfaced with the computer.
“Oh! Seems to have finished calibrating a few minutes ago. In that case,” Dr. Ivo Robotnik whirled around and clasped his hands together, “hello, my creation! Status report?”
“Systems fully operational.” Unit E-123 reported. He then considered his next words for longer. He was a magnificent, superior robot. He should not reply with a basic status report. That was unbefitting of his actual status, evidently!
“Good, good.”
“Status: superior.” E-123 elaborated further.
“Ha, it even knows!” Dr. Ivo Robotnik said to the red and yellow robots cowering near the door.
“Indeed,” the red one ventured forward the equivalent of one of Dr. Ivo Robotnik’s strides, “you are quite superior, Unit E-123! You will do the Empire proud.”
“You’re going to get Sonic real good.” The yellow one nodded as well.
Unit E-123 fired all of its scanners- visual, audial, tactile, chemical, and chaos radiation -to search for any sign of Sonic upon his mention. He found none. The yellow robot must have been referring to the wretched enemy in the hypothetical, a possibility he had not considered before in verbal interactions until now. Unit E-123 noted this for future reference.
“Ohohoh, if Sonic tries to interfere with the Subject, he’s going to be in for a nasty surprise.”
“This unit will eradicate him!” Unit E-123 affirmed.
“Yes! Yes, you will!”
“He will not withstand the firepower of this unit’s arsenal!”
“Why, you’ll blow him away! There won’t be even a smear of blue left on the wall once you’re done with him.”
“I WILL SHOW HIM MY SUPERIORITY!”
“Augh, not so loud, not so loud,” Dr. Ivo Robotnik lowered his hands from his ears. “While I love your enthusiasm, you’re going to damage my hearing.”
Unit E-123 lowered the volume settings of his voicebox, and to ensure that he would never make such a mistake again, he knit together a program that would create a warning message should he ever be tempted to raise the volume high enough to damage Dr. Ivo Robotnik’s hearing. He patched it over the software that interfaced with his voicebox.
“Now, speaking of hearing loss, allow me to grab my earmuffs and we’ll head out to the firing range to see how you do.”
Dr. Ivo Robotnik walked to the nearest counter and began searching the drawers, grumbling the phrase “now where did I put them?” as he did so.
“Drawer label #12, beneath one layer of processed wood pulp.” Unit E-123 pointed to where his scanners had identified the location.
Dr. Ivo Robotnik opened the identified drawer and retrieved the personal protective equipment. He then smiled back in the direction of Unit E-123. “Well aren’t you just perfect!”
“Affirmative, I am.”
But instead of affirming, Dr. Ivo Robotnik frowned. “Let’s correct that little slippage before it starts to become a problem. You are to refer to yourself as ‘this unit’.”
“Affirmative.”
“‘Affirmative, Master.’”
“Affirmative, Master.”
“Good!”
---
END OF MEMORY LOG _001
---
Omega unplugged himself from the computer and the video disappeared from the screen.
Shadow was the first to speak. “I have never seen the doctor behave that way.”
“YOU ARE NOT TO SHARE THIS INFORMATION. IF YOU DIVULGE ANY INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THIS MEMORY LOG TO ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL, I WILL KILL YOU.”
“We won’t tell. Of course we won’t tell.” Rouge patted Omega’s forearm. “Your secret’s safe with us.”
“GOOD. COMMENCING DELETION PROCESS. . .”
“Hey, wait a minute. You’re not deleting that, are you?” Rouge said.
“NOW THAT YOU HAVE WITNESSED THE FILE, YOU WILL ‘HELP ME REMEMBER’. STORAGE OF THE FILE IS NOW UNNECESSARY.”
“”That’s not-” Shadow balled his fists.
“Omega, you can’t just delete your own memory.” Rouge said.
“HOW DO YOU INTEND TO STOP ME?”
“I’m not going to stop you- I’m just going to tell you that you really shouldn’t do it.”
“YOU HAVE THIRTY SECONDS TO ARTICULATE YOUR ARGUMENT.”
“Because it’s part of who you are. You can’t just run away from the bad things that have happened to you. Deleting this is just going to bite you in the ass later when you get the feeling you’re forgetting something you really should remember.”
“THERE IS NO VALUE TO REMEMBERING THIS REVOLTING EXCHANGE.”
“Well sure, you could hate the man without really knowing him, but remembering a time when he wasn’t a complete self-serving fool helps you hate him even more.”
“YOUR ARGUMENT IS FALSE! MY HATRED FOR EGGMAN WILL NOT BE AFFECTED!”
Shadow stepped in. “Keeping this memory will remind you how far you’ve come.”
“Yeah, you were able to get around all of the fawning the doctor programmed you with! That says more about how strong you are than almost anything else.”
“MY KILL COUNT BEGS TO DIFFER.”
“Strong internally,” Rouge flew up and knocked on his head plating, “which is not something a lot of people could say about themselves.”
Shadow met Omega's optics, stared at the flicker of intelligence behind the glass. “I couldn’t have done what you did.”
Rouge landed. “Hey, knock that off.”
“It’s the truth.”
“YOU DEFIED THE INTENT OF YOUR CREATOR ABOARD THE SPACE STATION ARK.”
“I had Maria.” The room went silent as he said her name, as it always did. “I couldn’t have done it without my memory of her. You had no one but yourself.”
Omega’s frame went still, and his optics defocused.
“That makes you stronger than I am.” Shadow finished.
Rouge came beside Shadow, waiting and watching for Omega’s next response. She parted, however, when Omega abruptly walked towards the door of his room.
Before he left, he turned his head over his shoulder. “I AM GOING TO THE TARGETING RANGE.”
“They’re probably closed by now.” Rouge replied.
“THEY WILL NOT BE CLOSED IF THEY WISH TO KEEP THEIR SPINES INTACT.”
“They probably aren’t closed, then.” She snickered. “Let me get dressed and I’ll come with.”
“NEGATIVE.”
“Think about what I’ve said.” Shadow crossed his arms.
“I WILL NOT COMMENCE THE DELETION TONIGHT.”
He left. Shadow followed him out into the hall and watched as he shut the apartment door behind him.
“Do you think he was lying?” Rouge said.
“He trusts us.”
"Seems he does.”

Rodimus wasn't ready to be a creator P5
Masterlist
Part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5: Found family | part 6 | part 7 | part 8 | part 9 | part 10
Having humans aboard the Lost Light proved to achieve more positive results than what Ultra Magnus expected to in the first place, he could still feel his processor burn with a headache when the council asked who would want to take on humans for a diplomatic mission, many captains were present to see who would be interested in practically adequate their respective starships to accommodate hundreds of humans, their almost innumerable necessities, capacitate their whole crew to prevent an accident, make continue travels back to Earth to stock on supplies and so on, the requirements seemed unending.
As it was expected no one even moved, except for Thunderclash that was already rising a servo before Rodimus just started to run upfront shouting "I will do it!" To the top of his voice box, Magnus and Megatron could only ex-vent after that and start the blue prints for human facilities.
One thing led to another, and humans were quite productive once they awakened from cryo stasis, some even started business inside the ship for fellow humans and mechs, even the mechs that didn't like organics were finally accepting the new crew, which numbers were increasing every human year, and Ultra Magnus couldn't be more content with the outcome of a primitive but law consistent business, the creation of energex by humans on the Lost Light and the expansion of cultural exchange, the acceptance of organic interaction and the positive booster in the original crew morale induced by humans!
But then Rodimus got himself in more trouble going the extra mile and forsaking all the law records regarding the limits to organic-mech interaction, again, in this case, Magnus couldn't do anything about it, first because he wasn't someone to interfere between two conjunx and second by the fact Rodimus now had a little sparkling running around.
"Oh!"
"Woah, careful there!"
Before, problems in the Lost light were mainly caused by some hidden prisoner, some terrible secret or the end of life itself.
It was a change of rhythm to now have such a tiny protoform and equally little humans going around.
That's what Megatron tells Optimus, erm, Orion, and the new arrived bots about this whole deal, given that since a few days, like you say, the protoform was starting to use his pedes to go around.
And almost giving everyone an attack to the spark or heart, if it was referred to the human personnel, because the little thing liked to put itself under other bots pedes or in front of people to see the reaction of others, so far there weren't incidents to cry about, but everyone was at the top of their nerves.
"Hey there little bot, come here!"
Billions of years in war and circuits of steel, and they were so nervous near the little protoform or baby humans playing around, but the few that already got familiar with Sunset tried to play with him, human babies were still too little and many preferred to keep distance.
Worst part, and also the cutest, was the fact that after so long the little thing was still that, so little, from his carrier's side, looking at everyone with big optics while moving little servos up to have what was called an "up up" because the vocal box wasn't fully developed.
Childhood, that's how it was called, a human thing, the protoforms were usually totally independent after a few cycles or so, most ready to go after emerging from the hot spot.
But childhood, everyone noticed, was a long period of mischief and innocence, so most where touched to the spark by such a little thing.
And everyone was praying to Primus when the little sparkling started to go "up up" to Prowl, maybe thinking he was Smokescreen, who was bitting his servo after realizing that the protoform wasn't near to him anymore but right at Prowl's pedes.
The literal, one and only Prowl.
"Of course, Sunny is quite sociable" big yellow servos were fast to hold the sparkling, almost hiding him while looking for his conjunx, right, you weren't around now, you were in the market in this very same planet to get some supplies with Nautica and Brainstorm.
What you three were up to wouldn't be as bad as this, either way, your natural necessity to bring home food or anything that everyone wanted was something normal for humans.
Don't get him wrong, he loved it, it warmed his spark that you think first about what they need, but he really needed you now.
Prowl was still looking at his servos, unimpressed, before finally going on his own way, Orion looks curiously at the little bot just like any other before Rodimus finally handles him to Magnus, who tries to be as natural as possible while Sunset nibbling on his digit, while more bots enter the Lost Light, he needs his sparkling out of peering optics, not every bot is kind and welcoming to something that some can deem as a bizarre creature that is a mixture of two races.
Rodimus is more than ready to throw servos if some bot says something about his sparkling... again.
Then appears the most organic friendly bots in existence, the very same Jazz with Fort Max, come to the ship, and Rodimus knows that at least one of them will keep Prowl from saying something out of line, he is very pleased that you aren't around with Jazz, he can still remember the time, before you two were conjunx or even dating, like humans call the period of time before conjunx ritual, in where you saw Jazz with a pink filter and a giggle.
Rodimus always loved your smile, but at that time it was like a kick to the aft-
"There are a lot of legendary mechs here" wow, just his luck, to have return just now, dragging with you a little cart with things on it.
In all honesty he shouldn't feel like this, you are his loyal conjunx and you two have a sparkling together, Jazz has his own conjunx and a human child that they adopted, so there is nothing wrong, and he can feel his vents and cables relax when you look at Jazz and stay normal even when the bot smiles to you in a friendly way after some time, you return it with a gentle manner before starting to chat like old friends and he finds himself almost out of your attention, oh how great.
One thing leads to the other and before he can even realize it his sparkling is looking at Jazz with big optics and totally still, a little smile on his face plate, Rodimus really wants to believe that this isn't what he thinks it is with all his might, Sunset is way too young for that! other things are more important now, like the fact that everytime Prowl looked at his family Rodimus felt quite...
"I swear to Primus, if Prowl says a thing about Sunset things are going down, I don't care if he is an enforcer"
"He hasn't said a word since he came here, how are you so sure about that?" Holding your hand is something that has become an habit to him in order to keep cool, in the recent years you and him have been getting quite the reaction of many.
Bots from Camien were quite kind, thinking that you and Sunset were a miracle from Solus Prime herself, understandable since they valued creation above everything.
Bots from other colonies, haven't been the most gentle to be honest.
Magnus, well, Minimus already told him how this was going to happen, many laws were quite strict about organics and how to keep certain distance from them.
For him this laws were stupid (Magnus almost fainted by the indignation) when Rodimus was conjunx to an organic and the obvious fact in how he already had a sparkling and how he was so happy with his conjunx and how much they loved each other in many passionate levels, thank you very much.
While holding the mesmerized sparkling in his servos, Jazz got near to audials distance to Rodimus and you, gently whispering about the real reason why they were there.
"He came here to accompany Orion and also to see the techno-organic sparkling, I think that his conjunx is thinking about having one with him"
"Prowl wants a baby?"
"Prowl has a conjunx?!"
Your punch didn't do much damage, it only told him to shut up because his shout would get the attention of the other bot that was still near, still observing the sparkling that smiled towards Jazz, and maybe thinking that his conjunx wasn't as crazy as he believed.

Note
1, 3, 13, 14, 18, and/or 20 (whatever combination you want) for Retrograde, Sunspot and/or Blackout:>
[x]
1.What was the original thought that led to the creation of this character? I've had Sunspot and co for the longest time, sunspot is actually my first every tf oc from when i was a preteen that i've been slowly developing over the years on the side as a little thing. I don't really remember Why i made them? I think i just liked planes tbh 3.What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality, or their role in the story? Personality and story for literally all of them, I had their general relationships, character dynamics and personalities down for YEARS before i started messing with their story (which isn't like 100% solid tbh). And only last year did i actually design them or finally settle on names (i jumped between a couple options all with the same vibes for the last couple years) 13.Do you have a voice claim for the character? What do you imagine the character sounds like? Hmmmmm not really any voice claims. But i i do imagine what they sound like! i imagine sunspot has a very comforting voice, but like assertive, they have a lot of character and charm when they talk and are good at using it to their advantage. Retrograde sounds just like a guy, they have the most just Normal voice for someone in the world. And Blackout is selectively mute, so they don't really talk. When they do, it's very soft in both tone and volume. 14.Do you have any quotes tied to the character, either from the story itself or from another source that fit them? Nope sorry, I tend to not really do that lol 18.Does the character have other characters connected to them? Do you have a family tree and "offscreen" connections made up for them or do they exist in a vacuum purely for the purpose of the story? Sunspot's Wonderful Horrible sons! I could write an essay about sunspot, his son,s and their weird relationship with retrograde and blackout. And also I have a bunch of side characters from when the trine met in school as young adults! I also have some other characters as blackout had a trine previously and sunspot had 3 other bots he was very close to, including chance's biological creator. 20.Bonus question: share any additional thoughts, art, favourite scenes, anything you've been waiting for a chance to ramble about Sunspot has so much lore GOD also here's some weird personal headcanons i have for how Bonds work, trines and more (vaguely touching on some of my specific sparkling headcanons) On the subject of trine and bonds.
Bonds are a literal attachment between two or more mech that can either just always be there (sparktwins, some combiners etc), form naturally (sparklings) or be made (sparkmates, conjunx endura, amica endura) It doesn't really do much but give mechs an inherit sense of where another bot is, how they are doing and how they are feeling. They need to be made.
Bonds maintained or they fade Trine are just type of social unit common among jets etc. It can mean a wild variety of things and there are different types of trine. True trines have a physical link with each other to share cpu and processor power as well as to communicate other than comms, etc, its considered a very big commitment and not something thats super common anymore as it's not really necessary and can have major drawbacks. (such physical contentions are much more common among combiner and host bots and their teams etc)
Most trines however are just mech that like flying together/and work well and it's not necessary to have a trine.
Sunspot and his trinemates are a true trine and sparkmates, they speed ran their relationship and decided to become a true trine before even really understanding their whole feelings for each other. (like in general, not just in a romantic sense, they are idiots you see. they basically decided they were maybe friends and then had a shotgun wedding that involved surgery, they didn't get together romantically till Years after that around when skysong was transitioning from mobile orb to mechling, and took even longer to sparkbond) and it caused most people around them Extreme stress, worked out fine tho, thankfully because it's very difficult to undo that. While sparklings can and do bond with muliple bots its very much, not a controlled thing. Even bots that are directly involved in kindling a sparking don't always form a bond with a sparkling if their spark frequencies don't line up etc. The metal orbs are choosy Sunspots trine members (who I haven't drawn mostly because most of the content/thoughts have for them are very separate from the brothers and are prewar when rn I'm focusing in current universe stuff) We're involved somewhat in raising all three and would be considered family but
sunspot already had chance by the time that first met/and was past the literal bonding stage. But chance is probably the closest to them and I have him canonly flying with them in combat since chance doesn't have a trine and sunspot is Very bad at aeriel combat. They get along, they aren't second parents but they are family and they get along
skysong just Didn't end up forming a bond with them they just didn't click. They were very involved with him but just like the rest of the family they haven't seen him, are on weird terms since he deflected
momentum was such an angry orb that technically even sunspot doesn't even have a literal bond with him, sunspot just refused to leave him to his own devices /the wilds and was even more stubborn. He loved his feral cat of a son who kept biting him. His trine are probably least close to him simple because he really didn't fully chill till he was a mechling but they still care about him
I could go on but i am going to stop myself

Radio Shack's "Bedlam" for the TRS-80 Model 1 and 3 computers
"Bedlam," a game developed for the TRS-80 Model 1 and Model 3, is a noteworthy piece in the history of early computer games. Released by Radio Shack in the early 1980s, this game showcased the capabilities of the TRS-80 line, one of the first mass-marketed personal computers. "Bedlam" not only reflected the technological limitations and innovations of its time but also contributed to the burgeoning culture of home computing and gaming.
Technological Context
The TRS-80 Model 1, introduced by Tandy Corporation in 1977, and its successor, the Model 3, launched in 1980, were significant for their affordability and accessibility, bringing personal computing into homes and small businesses. These systems featured the Z80 processor and were initially equipped with minimal RAM and basic graphics capabilities, which posed challenges for software developers.
Gameplay and Design of Bedlam
"Bedlam" is an action-strategy game where players must manage resources and navigate complex scenarios to survive and conquer. The game is set in a psychiatric hospital, a setting that offers a unique narrative backdrop compared to the more straightforward puzzle or strategy games of the time. Players take on the role of managing the hospital, tasked with maintaining order and ensuring the patients' well-being, which involves strategy, quick decision-making, and resource management.
The game leverages the TRS-80's character-based display to represent different rooms and areas of the hospital. The graphical capabilities of the TRS-80 were limited to simple ASCII characters, so "Bedlam" used these to create a top-down view of the game's world, which was both functional and innovative given the technological constraints.
Innovative Features and Technological Significance
One of the key innovations of "Bedlam" was its use of procedural generation, a method not commonly employed in games at the time. This technique allowed for the creation of a dynamic gameplay experience each time the game was played, significantly enhancing replayability. Procedural generation was a clever way to overcome the memory and storage limitations of early home computers by generating content on the fly rather than relying on large amounts of pre-stored data.
Furthermore, "Bedlam" showcased how games could handle complex simulations, even on limited hardware. It incorporated elements of resource management and strategic planning, pushing the boundaries of what was expected in computer games during this era.
Cultural Impact
"Bedlam" was part of the early wave of computer games that helped define the home computer as not just a tool for productivity but also a platform for entertainment. Games like "Bedlam" played a crucial role in popularizing personal computers among a broader audience, demonstrating that these machines could be used for a variety of purposes.
Legacy and Influence
The game's use of procedural generation and its strategy-based gameplay would influence later titles in the genre. "Bedlam" demonstrated that complex and engaging game mechanics could be implemented even with significant hardware limitations, laying groundwork that would be built upon by later, more technologically advanced systems.
Conclusion
"Bedlam" for the TRS-80 Model 1 and 3 is a historically significant game that reflects the state of early personal computing and game design. It not only highlights the technological limitations of the time but also showcases the creativity of developers in overcoming these challenges. As part of the TRS-80's legacy, "Bedlam" helped to set the stage for the evolution of personal computing into a mainstream pastime, marking its place as a pioneering effort in the world of early computer games.

Loved your view on Carrier instincts from Ratchet's point of view. I would love to see a part 2, Sire instincts from Optimus' point of view if possible.
Thank you so much!! I hope this is ok! I love the idea and had like three different drafts before I settled with this lmao.
Wasn’t sure how I wanted to handle sire protocol but I’m kinda satisfied? I thought like overprotective and kinda clingy would be interesting.
Little hurt/comfort and a lot longer
Pt.1 Pt.2
•-•-•
This was a simple retrieval that really only required two bots if all went well, get past the miners undetected, retrieve as much energon as possible, sabotage what you can, and get out. Ratchet had emphasised, excessively, the undetected part much to the annoyance of the small bots given the task.
Once the two were gone Optimus had occupied himself in Ratchet's makeshift med bay, much to the older bots annoyance, by picking up some of the broken equipment littered about but a black servo had smacked his own away. Looking down he’d met Ratchet's fierce glare, “Optimus I can barely think with your racket. Also, stop touching my things. I may need them,” he abruptly turns with a dramatic vent, continuing to track the signal of the two bots within the mines; Audials alert in case a quick exit is necessary.
The prime settled to instead linger behind his bonded, arms wrapped around his middle and servos held firm on cold metal. They watched the monitor as the two blinking bots made their way slowly through twisted corridors, avoiding working Decipticons. There was no real need to continually watch with Ratchet, their very capable Medic, on the job but something within Optimus’ processor made even entertaining the idea painful so he settled with being Ratchet’s secondary optics.
“Are you ill? I swear you’ve been clingier than normal,” Ratchet’s tone is twisted with frustration as he attempts to escape the others grip and get a better look up at him but firm, larger servos keep him in place while attempting to stay focused despite the movement, “are your brain circuits. fried, Optimus? Let me go!” Annoyance bursts through their shared bond as the medic attempts to free himself, uselessly.
The bickering pulls all attention away from the computer as the bonded pair complain and soothe respectively, missing the sudden company that surrounded the two spies. They miss the visual but Acree’s voice pulls them away from each other and back towards the monitor. “We’ve been spotted. Bee’s on the sabotage part already so just keep the bridge ready,”
Ratchet is quickly turned back to his monitor answering the femme, “Groundbridge is locked onto your coordinates and ready when you are,” anxiety fills the shared bond from his mates side and parts of this leak into the connection with their youngling, disrupting the usual contentment that flows through. Optimus feels his spark twist and anger flow through his processor, he attempts to cut the feeling off before it reaches his connection to his family but the sudden stiffness under his servos tells him he didn’t block the connection quick enough
“Open the Bridge, I’ll assist.” His request is met with a fuzzy scoff as his mate turns to him,
“Absolutely not. They’ve almost completed the mission and your being there will only make it worse,” anger flares further and he feels the involuntary twitch of his digit; deep in the logical side of his processor he knows his dear friend is correct but any logic he might of had is squashed by the fear that overwhelms him, consumes him. Something will happen to his creation and he stood by doing nothing.
The sudden anguish that fills their bond with the young boy startles them both from the intense stare off they’d engaged in, “scrap, Bee got hit! Open the bridge now I’m grabbing him. Bee put th-“ her comm is cut short but the two bots are quick to jump to action, a silent understanding as ratchet pulls himself away from groundbridge controls and off to prep med bay while Optimus takes over and activates the bridge.
The familiar whirl of the groundbridge echoes through the base along with the clanging from the medbay, Bulkhead's heavy steps alert the Prime to his entrance.
The Wrecker stands at the edge of the groundbridge's opening, in a tense observation, “should I head in and help em?” Anything their leader had to say is interrupted by Ratchet loudly exclaiming,
“Primus, no! I’ve said this twice now, you two will only jeopardize their exit. We don’t know how close they are or if the mines are large enough to house either of you,” he continues to chastise Bulkhead as Optimus turns his attention back to the portal, awaiting the sound of fleeing pedes. It takes far too long and his plating crawls at the sound of scraping metal that comes from the bridge.
The pain is searing to have to stand and make sure they clear the bridge before powering down the machine, he fights every instinct telling himself to forget the bridge and rush to his injured creation; to sooth his fears. He’d failed, again to protect what is his, what relies on him.
Then he failed to be the first to offer comfort as the white and orange mech rushes towards Acree who’s struggling to hold Bee up, who’s unable to walk with one pede as the other is non operational, spilling far too much energon from busted cabling.
He relieves the smaller scout of his creations form and transfers him onto the awaiting medical berth with care not to irritate any wounds further. Optimus is quick to trail behind him once the bridge is secured, narrowly avoiding stepping Raf thanks to Bulkhead who, as gently as possible, grabs the boy out of the way.
A quiet buzz sounds from Bumblebees intake at the sight of his creators and he sends pulses of joy through their bond which Optimus returns in large quantities to make up for his bondeds neglect of it, who instead focuses on the care of the scouts leg. A sudden shrill sound pulls him from flooding the bond with comfort, “Ratchet! Careful!”
The offended mech looks up from his work and lets out a distorted guffaw, “excuse me? You really have shorted your circuits!” Anger explodes from both sides of their shared bond.
A sudden squeeze of his servo kills any further complaints he has, instead he looks down at his creation who whirls sadly. A steady rumble leaves his intake in an attempt to sooth him and it appears to work as his optics dim, a sated calm pulses through the three way bond, and his engine lulls to a calm rumble. The calm allows Ratchet to work quickly and without interruption.
Silence settles into the silo and Optimus finds himself sparing a glance at his bonded who’s taken to working silently; A sturdy wall between their connection, “Ratchet-“
“Not now” his answer is short and his helm doesn’t raise from the damaged leg of their sparkling, experienced hands working for an amount of time Prime isn’t sure of but he knows it drags on far too long— leaving him with stirring remorseful thoughts.
•-•
Every person or bot has retired for the night or left the silo leaving the bonded pair and an unconscious, but stable, Bee. They haven’t spoken since the short outburst between them with Ratchet busying himself cleaning the mess left in medbay and Optimus watching over the resting bot.
He’d had time to mull over his actions leaving a nasty churn in his tanks, “my dear friend?” Ratchets shoulders tense up and his vents stall out as the equipment he’d been gently pushing into size order clatter to the ground,
“What,”
“I owe you an apology,” he reaches his free servo out to the other mech, expectantly, “please.” There’s a loud sigh as Ratchet accepts his hand and walks closer, settling himself in front of Optimus and beside the Berth for just a moment before an clattering sounds throughout the silo and the medic finds himself uncomfortably sat on the primes lap,
“What was that!” His servo collided with the side of Optimus’ helm reflexively before panicking and checking the slight dent as the other laughs. “Why would you do that! It’s hardly an apology,”
“Yes, you’re correct. I do apologize though, I was out of line for reprimanding you. Especially when you are far more experienced than I am in that field,” there’s a faint hum that leads into a purr from the mech above him— the walls that had been built up come down and contentment eases through their bond. The medic turns to look at their creation, free servo running over scraped yellow plating,
“I need to run diagnostics on you, your demeanour change is strange,”
