Initiated in 2021, the Domestic Homicide Sentence Review examines the current sentencing framework's adequacy and identifies potential areas for improvement. This comes in the wake of high-profile domestic murders and concerns expressed by the Victims’ Commissioner and Domestic Abuse Commissioner regarding the justice system's handling of such offenses.   Government's Commitment: Tough Measures to Keep Offenders Locked Up This move is the latest in the government's commitment to being tough on crime, including the end of automatic release for sex and terrorist offenders and introducing a minimum 14-year jail term for serious terror offenses.
