unlocked conviction’s module today and apparently their module text explains how they have come up with a thought experiment to SURPASS the trolley problem. because the people of this age are too smart for the trolley problem. so they needed a new problem to think about. anyway its the surgeon’s dilemma, where 6 patients in a hospital are dying and each needs a different organ transplanted as soon as possible, but the hospital has no access to the organs. a healthy patient comes in for a checkup who would be a perfect match for all 6 patients and whose disappearance would not be noticed. is it morally correct to butcher this patient and divide their organs up to save the lives of 6 others?

of course this problem is also pretty easily solved if you have a strong conviction about bodily autonomy but conviction (the character) goes on to explain that its not only about what your answer is. whether you spend time deliberating or not, or whether the question disgusts you, or whether you think of other solutions, any reaction is useful for gauging the beliefs and ideals of a person.

i just think theyre neat basically

Arknights was truly on some shit when they made their April fools day operator a non-binary literal god with a 90’s anime art style who is almost unusable due to overreliance on RNG

It's really funny but I randomly drew a Conviction in this evening's IS run and ah well... She slaps? Like, this little thing

With her infamous unreliability really carried the early part of the run.

Firstly, they're surprisingly tanky for a little thing, clocking in at only a few hundred HP less than Skadi with good attack speed and power. And their S1 is actually a solid skill, providing rapid and inpactful arts damage that allowed them to be my main combat unit for much of the game with a 1/20 chance of just clowning the on someonw each time she hit them. Which they did, including a Duck.

And their S2, while if course hilarious unreliable is still a huge burst of Arts damage in a large AoE, you just have to plan around it be deploying her in her own. But they killed Big Bob by their own without him even leaving his spawn and slew a lot of Berserkers in the Kjerag map as well as stopping Sarkaz Lancers getting their damage bonus, helping take down Bullies and many other things.

And then they only rolled self-stuns in the Phantom fights, because that's how luck goes. But eh, whatever. It's Lucian, if I can't bully Lucian without a specific Operator, the run is already awful. And I did.

Usual killbox past the first roadblock, Lucian got gangbanged by Skadi and Surtr and lasted all of 1.5 seconds.

So if you ever see a random Conviction in your IS run (and I'm saying random because I don't think many people have them upgraded), pick her up! Their randomness is funny and potentially powerful and they're a really solid Arts melee unit with S1 if you want reliability.

Final Rhine lab manga chapter even addressed whether or not saria was going to stab ifrit in that moment with the knife and ended on an emotional conversation between her and silence, this manga really did give us everything.

Everyone is reblogging my post about conviction arknights's fucked up surgeon problem like "what the fuck why would conviction do this" as if their entire operator file isn't about how they're an ancient Minoan god who spent all their time coming up with shit like that. They INVENTED the trolley problem, canonically, during a time when trolleys did not exist. And they forced people to eat tomatoes until they came up with an answer. I don't think there's any reason to be confused over why they would update the problem for the modern era
