Any tips on how to draw Faerie Cookie wings? Folded and not folded pls????🥺
(im struggling with it + i need it for an au cookie design…)
When drawing Elder Faerie's wings, I heavily rely on his sprites, which can be found on the CRK wiki. Overall, there's nothing particularly complicated about their shape, but the real challenge comes when working on their patterns and how exactly they are folded. I’ve already drawn two options when working on a similar set of skins as I did for Shadow Milk. The first option features folded wings completely behind the back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second option has the wings partially draped over the shoulders.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They resemble the physics of a cloak or a mantle but lack folds, so you can use this as a guiding principle.
For drawing the open wings, you can simply use Elder Faerie from the game, lift him, and he’ll naturally spread his wings, allowing you to figure out the shape easily.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The patterns can be broken down into components: the background, the outer gray "frame" with curls at the ends, the main pattern resembling petals, and the additional pattern with sparkles. It’s best to draw these on separate layers for convenience and to make adjustments easily as you work.

How I made my glowing stardust cookie wig with translucent spray paint and button battery LEDs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started with a pure white arda wigs jaguar that was already fully styled since you will need all the shapes to be set before adding color. To style it, I did the classic "heat the fibers upside down, tease via backcombing, brush them out, heat and tease again, brush out...again" method that is formally outlined in my karna tutorial. You dont have to have your shapes perfectly locked in before adding in color since you will be brushing it out once more, but you will need all of your teasing and heat training to be done before adding color.
Stardust Cookie's wig involves leaving the bangs pure white and the back sections blue. There are a million ways to do this (start with a blue wig and add a white bang front, airbrush color, dye wefts and sew them together, etc) but the method that was the most economical for me involved using krylon translucent spray paint. I know using spray paint on a wig sounds scary and i would not use an enamel or fully opaque spray paint on a wig, but the krylon translucent spray paint is shockingly soft, flexible, and goes on in light coats.
To keep the bangs white, I pinned down some cling wrap all around the bangs and made sure the line was snug. at this point I very gingerly began applying spray paint to the back sections of the wig. I did this in very light coats at a distance of about 18 inches from the wig. Honestly right after spraying, the fibers were still soft and the coverage was as good as i was expecting to get, but i did take a hog bristle brush and thoroughly combed out the fibers after this stage. This helps break up any strings and more evenly distributed the color.
This method works well if you want a soft color that does not need to be perfectly uniform. And I knew since I was adding lights below, that the color coverage itself didn't matter a whole lot, so long as it was translucent, didn't have any major streaks or clumps, and light could get out smoothly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To add lights to the wig, there are 4 button-battery 30-LED fairy light packs glued into the underside netting of the wig. Always be sure to check if your LED wires can withstand hot glue heat before application (but most standard LED packs can withstand a low heat setting.) I did not have any problems with the heat of the wig + my body heat causing problems with the LEDs after being worn for several hours. These lights provide a diffuse, background glow throughout the wig and can be seen through the blue color. the below image of the wig only has lights underneath the netting (only one pack on for that image).
Tumblr media Tumblr media

To light up the upper parts of the wig, there is one pack of LEDs threaded through the teased, textured bases of the spikes. Because these lights are on top of the netting and going through the textured sections, they scatter off of the teased hair and provide illumination to the higher parts of the wig. below is an image of the wig with only the single "top" lights lit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and that's how I made this wig! Other than that the rhinestones and other accessories were just glued on w/ hot glue. This wig looks nice in person and on camera and is stable. Granted its a little uncomfortable since you can feel the wires and the battery packs ngl but i've certainly worn worse. You can use hairspray on top of the translucent spray paint in small amounts, but in general i would proceed with caution since if nothing else, it may make the fibers look particularly stringy (which is why i highly recommend heat-set styles for this application over hairspray-set ones)
Believe me you can go pretty far with a "let me just slap some LEDs in there with a bit of glue" attitude when it comes to adding lights to stuff.

if you don't mind sharing with the class, how do you do your sprite edits? they look so cool ive always wanted to do them myself but i didn't know where to start!!!
Okay so I kinda cheat I follow the tried and true method of tracing over the sprite and changing things as I go (usually on a different layer)
Tumblr media
wip pic of my chili pepper edit
my process is also needlessly complicated because i’m scared i’ll mess up so i keep everything on a separate layer but it works so
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also sketch beforehand and play with the sprite itself to see how it would look before I really go in with lineart (checking if my proportions look right and i’m not crazy) and then I clean up. Big thing to also remember and that I have to force myself to remember is that these sprites are small and don’t need too many details, so if your redesign is very complicated i’d recommend trying to boil it down to its most important aspects and design points so that the sprite is still readable and easy on the eye. Of course these are just edits so you can have fun but i’ve found that at least in my case my over designing doesn’t translate well to sprite so I try to tone down the details but find a way to incorporate it in a way that’s flattering and good on the eyes.
Tumblr media
my Mocha Ray as an example because I removed some bits to keep it simple but opted to add the patterns to add a subtle touch if that makes sense
I also really recommend using a hard brush, of course this isn’t needed but if you want that more “canon” look that is definitely your best bet. I personally use these brushes because they have that effect but have that grainy look i love a lot in my art. Not sure if this helped my process is kinda all over the place but if it works for me it might work for you (^▽^)👍

Hiii! Do you happen to have tips for drawing in the crk artstyle(or at least mimic it)? Cuz I struggle a lot trying to mimic the artstyle so it'd be nice to try and get some tips from someone who is more skilled!
Tumblr media
Howdy! Thanks for asking! I surprisingly get this question quite a bit because of how I'm able to make my CRK OCs look like they're official characters you can get in-game. So, I got better at replicating the style by watching a video where an artist goes more into depth on how they draw in the style.
I'm sure I can explain it a bit more: The Cookie Run art style is a relatively simple style, but is more complex than it already is by the character's details in their design! How I managed to master it is simple: take an existing official sprite you like and simplify the body into shapes by sketching over it! That way, you can see the body underneath the clothing, hair, etc. without being overwhelmed.
Once you finished simplifying the sprite, put your sketch in the corner of your canvas and try to replicate it to the best of your ability, then you can add more details once that is complete, too!
If my advice doesn't help all too much, I have some links to some tutorials that I have used before to help me improve!
Here are some links:

There are many other tutorials up on YouTube and not just these, so tell me if this helped! (I plan to make a full guide on how to draw in the CRK style soon, as well!)

Hello guys, i need some advice about how to style a new wig for my first cosplay as chili pepper cookie.
But I don't know how to style this wig to make it have those shapes on the sides and front of her hair. So, if you have any tips for this cosplay, it would be very helpful. 🥳🌶
(Even tips for making props)
