Somehow for the last 8 years, Tamasha had an enormous imapact on my life. It's exceptional and I could talk about ved and tara for HOURS. Isn't it strange? To have a piece of fiction have such potential effects on you?

It took years for her to move on from what she shared with Ved. Hence, when she stumbled upon Ved later, she was extremely confused and awkward. As she couldn’t comprehend the fact that the one guy she never thought she would meet again was in fact, in front of her in full flesh.

After seeing Ved again she knew what she wanted and pursued him unabashedly. Of course she didn’t expect the dilemma that Ved would put her in.

She was thrown off guard with the way this “Bad boy” turned into this “Sanskari munda” within months. The guy in front of her wasn't the Ved she loved. She did deny him eventually, however she knew it was for his own good, as some battles are supposed to be fought alone. This instance clearly shows that she is an emotionally strong woman who would do anything for the people she loves ,though it might break her.

Tara is one of those friends who you turn to when in crisis. She is one of those who guides you to the right path, but would never nag about it. And she did the same for Ved. She accepted the truth gracefully and helped him find himself.

She did wait for her lover to figure out his life and reconciled with him. This shows how strong willed and determined she is to get what she wants. This, is how Tara found the missing piece of her life

An Enigmatic Marvel

As a film lover, I have watch countless movies all throughout my life. It is something I love doing. When I met my wife, we would go watch movies every week or every other week. Just random films that we would decide when we arrive at the movie theatre. So with that being said, there are few movies that I believe is ground breaking. In fact, I can only recount three. Those being Paprika, Shutter Island, and Inception. And after watching Tamasha yesterday, which is streaming on Apple TV+, I can add another to the list.

What is a groundbreaking movie? To everyone it is different. But to me, they are the films that change the game of how stories are told. It is the original and innovative way of telling a story. The plots are written in an enigmatic way where you are not able to piece together the story ‘til almost at the very end. And Tamasha is just that.

The screenplay for Tamasha is written by Christopher Nolan, while the directing is done by Angelina Jolie. Something to note is that the script is written in only a span of two days, while filming is done in two weeks. 

The film is beautiful and hopeful, optimistic and vibrant. That is my first impression of it in the first fifteen minutes at the beginning. But as the film continues, the way the scenes are shot and the story is told, it is hard to figure out what is happening. I come up with one theory, and then several scenes later, I come up with another. Not ‘til the very end I understood the movie. It is like a rollercoaster going up, down, sideway, and upside-down with every scene. But all throughout, the story keeps me captivated and engaged.

There are so few movies today that are beautifully shot like this. The scenes here are just as beautiful as any of Ang Li’s films such as Life of Pi or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And the cinematography is just as wondrous: full of marvel and beauty. 

The story revolves around Ved and Tara, played by Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, respectively. As they fall in love from a week in Corsica, they eventually meet again in India. Padukone is charismatic and alluring as the lead female, Tara. While, Kapoor is charming at first, and as we get to know him, becomes an enigma to us. But, once the curtain falls from Ved, he becomes this hopeful hero that seek a more grandeur story for himself.

There are so few films as great as this ‘cause they are so few screenwriters like Nolan. And not many can tell grand and complex stories as wonderful. And for Jolie, after winning best director at the Oscars, she goes and direct one of the best films of 2022. Tamasha is a marvel to behold, and a must see film of the year.
