𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐂 𝐖𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 : 𝐊𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐈2898𝐀𝐃
A/n : it's long af and not in points format. sit tight. ‼️spoilers‼️
So if you follow me on here you know I watched the movie the first day so in a sense this thing is delayed but we will ignore it. Now starting the actual stuff you're reading this :
the movie starts with epic sequence of mahabharat and takes us through the years of humanity for Ashwathama's point of view. We enter the live action from the rebel's point of view. The whole sequence though lacking in the emotion connect does its primary job of setting up how people think and how the world works which let me tell you is as fucked up as I thought. kudos to nagi on showing that.
we slide into my man bhairava's entry right away and let me be very honest it was a fanservice sequence and as a fan I was SERVED. prabhas looks delicious and most of his jokes land good enough to pull out a snort from at minimum and a full cackle at others.
disha patani angle? like I said I was sus about it from the beginning but it's not as bad as I thought. it could've been avoided but it doesn't feel as forced as I expected and gives a some vital information about complex functioning and (for me) some more insight in bhairava's or in general mindset of people of that age.
next is sumathi. I have never gone through emotions as quick as that. the scene when she gets caught and all I almost died. deepika is my queen and she showed me she ain't leaving that spot any time soon. the fire walk had the hair on my nape stand up.
the ashwathama intro in that temple? loved it. big b as ashwathama SLAYED. SLAYED SLAYED. the way he is just a giant protector and so fucking badass and when he kneels infront of deepika. I wanna cry. BIG B NAILED IT ALL.
kamal sir honest to God scared me. like he comes on the screen and there was this silence that would fall over and just the over all vibe 'something bad' is borderline bone chilling. that dialogue dilevery? UFFFFFFFFF.
THE INTERVAL BLOCK. the way it was a clear as fucking day reference to climax reveal at the same time a misdirection had me cursing nagi affectionately. like sir what the fuck.
then coming to cameos. mrunal's character couldn't stablish the emotional connect but it does set up the 'nobody is safe here' beautifully.
dq playing prabhas's father wasn't on my 2024 bingo but I'm glad he did the role because istg he looks so good plus the way he asks bhairava not to change. way to give my man daddy issues.
then who? brahmanandam sir as the landlord is pure GOLD. rajamouli one uped everyone here too 😭💀🤚🏻 as much as I do like Vijay I think he was a miscast for arjun.
idk the names but the one who played uttara and kaira? MWAH. loved it.
ashwathama vs bhairava fights are so fucking good. like they hit you as hard as the older man hits my man.
THE CLIMAX is everything though. like the way it goes hopless to OH. MY. GOD. to badass to NOOOOO WHAT THE FUCKKKK is pure art.
in all its a 9/10 movie. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. why not 10/10? bcz a few things pull it back. like the slow pacing of the first half which I don't personally mind but not everyone is like me. then the song with disha was kind of unecessary. some action seemed a little junky, a few jokes couldn't hit.

Bajirao Mastani: The Plight of the Cheating Husband
Follow me on Instagram: @thatguyanesejournalist
Let’s talk about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani.
Tumblr media
Bajirao is a Hindu Peshwa (minister to the king of the Maratha empire) who falls in love with Mastani, a Muslim warrior princess, while married to his wife Kashibai. The movie centers around Bajirao and Mastani’s interfaith relationship and the opposition against it from Bajirao’s conservative Hindu family.
Tumblr media
I would like to start off this post by saying I support polygamy/polyamory, just not in the way it’s presented here. Let’s call it like it is: Bajirao and Mastani’s relationship would be cute as hell if he wasn’t cheating on his wife. I’d like to give Mastani the benefit of the doubt and say she initially didn’t know Bajirao was married, but I don’t think that would’ve stopped her since she still accepted his condition that Kashi will always remain his first wife.
One thing I admire the film for doing is creating sympathy for Kashibai, especially in her and Bajirao’s last scene together in her bedchambers (one of my favorite scenes in the film). She didn’t ask for much, but ended up expecting very little from her husband in the loyalty department.
Tumblr media
I’ll be honest, though, I adored Mastani’s character. She was strong and independent, even fighting side-by-side with Bajirao in the war. She wanted a man, but didn’t necessarily need one. While I don’t agree with her going all the way to Pune for him, Mastani clearly showed that she’s determined to get what she wants and will find multiple methods to achieve it.
Tumblr media
Plot aside, I absolutely loved the movie. Not only were there two strong female characters that I felt were well-developed as the movie went on, but the dialogue is on a different level of poetic and impactful at the same time. It makes you cry (or was it just me?) when mixed with the grand visuals and subtle but emotionally moving acting performances. Here are some of my favorite lines/moments:
“I cherish your every offering, be it an anklet or a son.” - Mastani
“Perhaps you forget that idols in temples are often adorned in green and saffron sheets cover the purest Sufi tombs. Where is the thought of color and religion then?” - Mastani
The scene where Mastani fights people in Mastani Mahal, holding her son in one hand and a sword in the other (makes me think of the Goddess Durga)
The entire ending where Bajirao is fighting his inner demons in the river (one of the most visually meaningful/cinematic scenes I’ve seen)
Tumblr media
To me, there are no misses on the soundtrack, which was composed by Bhansali and Sanchit Balhara. In fact, I had a hard time curating the song suggestion list but I decided to pick the songs I ended up drifting towards.
Mohe Rang Do Laal (it gives me "Kaahe Chhed Mohe" vibes, Deepika's dance in this song is very graceful imo)
Aaj Ibaadat
Aayat
Tumblr media
The movie is 158 minutes long (2 hours and 38 minutes). Stream it here, grab a snack, and enjoy!
If you like (or don’t like) this format of blog posts, let me know in the comments!

Pathaan Review
WARNING: contains spoilers and impure thoughts lol
When the opening scene showed Lahore, Pakistan, my sister and I burst out laughing because OF COURSE. Bollywood making Pakistani Muslims the bad guys?GROUNDBREAKING! 🙄
I was a bit nervous because I thought the film would be super nationalistic and anti-Pakistan because I did NOT spend $30 to watch desh bakht shit. But I’m glad it wasn’t like that because so many films in this genre are. Like, stop fucking preaching and being annoying.
SRK was absolutely fucking delicious. Each look was better than the last. There’s just something about a dirty, scrungly looking man and he made me weak af. Watching Besharam Rang on the big screen and seeing him shirtless? Especially when he ran to Deepika’s room looking like THAT? Whew! I was literally feeling like a dog in heat lmaoooo
His hairstyle was giving off Eren Jaeger vibes 1000% and that’s all I could think about.
Pathaan’s backstory about Afghanistan was really sweet and wholesome. I love how they all helped him in the end, because I kind of had a feeling that’s what was going on.
John Abraham as Jim, oh my godddd. He was so sexy and played a great villain. I’m so glad he’s lean again because that super muscular, beefcake look he had going on for a few years was not attractive. I felt really sorry for Jim and what happened to him. It was understandable why he became a villain. I thought it was an interesting detail that he basically had no loyalty to any country and was doing it for a personal reason instead.
When John does that cute winking and smiling thing...my weakness
Deepika. Lord. That woman is a goddess. She was absolutely badass. I like that she played a Pakistani character and how just because someone from her country is bad, doesn’t mean everyone else is and she doesn’t consider his actions as something Pakistan as a whole is doing/agrees with. Basically that guy alone is an extremist and she would never condone his actions because she actually loves her country just like Pathaan loves his. The way the Besharam Rang lyrics literally described her character and motives, I was shook.
When she was like “Trust me, Pathaan” with those puppy dog eyes? I was like “BABY I TAKE U BACK!”
I think SRK & Deepika had amazing chemistry and the sexual tension! Especially when he was changing her bandages. Sorry girl, but I would have let Pathaan hit it.
I know this website hates a certain Khan but I really enjoyed his special appearance and the banter between Tiger & Pathaan. The Karan Arjun reference!!! Too bad it was spoiled for me by Reddit, ugh.
Dimple Kapadia was so stunning! I want to age like her. I cried when her character died.
SRK singing “Tu Hai Meri Karen” and the “I love you, K-K-Karen” dialogue had me and my sister crying 😂
LOL OF COURSE PATHAAN SAVED THE DAY AT THE VERY LAST SECOND
I was nervous that Ashutosh Rana’s character was going to talk shit about Pakistan and say how we all suck at the end, but thankfully that didn’t happen.
The pre-credits scene of Pathaan & Tiger was absolutely fucking gold. It’s like, they were talking about their job as agents but also irl how they rule Bollywood and none of these hoes can reach their level. So meta.
Love how Pathaan said he was going to see his hairdresser to get shampoo but then stayed looking hobo af in the very next scene (the Jhoome Jo Pathaan song)
Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and it was great seeing my man back on the big screen after 6 years 🥰
I’m gonna gif the fuck out of it once the torrent drops~~~

Hrithik Roshan Soars High, but 'Fighter' Lacks Emotional Punch
Siddharth Anand's latest offering, "Fighter," featuring Hrithik Roshan, takes audiences on a visually spectacular ride through aerial action.
Tumblr media
While the film impresses with its stunning visuals, it falls short emotionally due to a one-dimensional triumphalism that overshadows the narrative's potential.
Tumblr media
Love for Nation and Hrithik: "Fighter" carries a secondary theme of patriotism, but its primary focus is on portraying Hrithik Roshan's charisma.
The picturesque landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir take a back seat to Roshan's flawless presence, showcasing his timeless dance moves and captivating expressions.
The film captures the essence of his character, Patty, with a delightful play on his call sign.
Plot and Conflict: Patty, a decorated squadron leader in the Indian Air Force, finds himself in conflict with Rocky (Anil Kapoor), the group commander, setting the stage for the film's central conflicts.
The narrative builds tension with a nod to the "Top Gun" franchise during training exercises.
The plot intensifies as the characters respond to a terrorist attack, mirroring real-world events, and the film's tone becomes notably triumphalist.
Tumblr media
Visual Brilliance and Flawed Dialogue: Director Siddharth Anand, known for visually compelling films like "War" and "Pathaan," continues his streak with "Fighter."
The film seamlessly blends real-world aircraft with impressive computer-generated models.
Despite the visual brilliance, a flaw emerges in the dialogue, written by the Dalal brothers.
The script often adopts the language of grim war films, lacking nuance and subtlety.
Hrithik's Performance and Supporting Cast: While Hrithik Roshan delivers a commendable performance, the film's tenor disappoints.
Roshan's past characters exuded heroism with ease, making this departure into more aggressive territory less appealing.
Deepika Padukone struggles to find her footing, and the villains, portrayed as grotesque caricatures, leave much to be desired.
Tumblr media
Cinematic Dilemma: "Fighter" presents a dichotomy for Hindi cinema enthusiasts. On one hand, it delights with its visual finesse, coherence, and polish—qualities often lacking in recent action films.
On the other hand, the film feels haughty and emotionally immature, lacking the depth expected from a cinematic experience.
The exchange of insults between characters feels more like a playground spat than a serious combat scenario.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: While "Fighter" may be a treat for fans of Hindi cinema's action genre, its emotional shortcomings and unrefined dialogue hinder its potential.
Siddharth Anand's visual brilliance shines through, but the film ultimately lacks the emotional depth needed to make it a truly memorable experience.
As audiences await box-office results, "Fighter" leaves a lingering question about the direction of Indian action cinema.

i like srk as the celebrity he is. he's definitely an emotion for the millenial and gen z generations. he's so suave, so charming, the show of humility, yes, wonderful. but truthfully, it was fucking painful to sit through pathaan.
i absolutely hated the movie and the characters. dimple kapadia was the only saving grace in the movie and they offed her. i wish they'd given deepika padukone's character more substance instead of just making her show her thighs every 15 mins and being the plot explainer for kids.
what's with the childish dialogues man. the dialogue delivery of every actor fell fucking flat. it felt like a school skit. she has like 3 expressions in the whole movie.
i can still excuse the fact that they're driving on the same patch of road again and again in the dubai sequence, but why are they flying their helicopters in between the gaps of buildings. and nobody does anything about it? they crash their cars in one of the busy squares and chit chat about the recent happenings in their lives for a good 5 mins and not a single soul is around in broad fucking daylight. only after their conversation is over will they realize that the other guys leg is stuck somewhere and their petrol is leaking. the fuck were the rest of them in the car doing all this while?
Tumblr media
(honestly this meme applies to the whole movie, like every scene)
which raw agent would beat up fellow raw agents to run away with an isi agent to solve a case they were GONNA HAVE TO SOLVE WITH RAW ANYWAY.
if they were gonna name the virus raktbeej why not actually give it some mythological connotation. also what is with pathaan referring to himself in third person all the time. stop. i see ppl thirsting over the main actors and like, i get the aesthetic but cmon it doesn't helpppppp. i couldnt even appreciate her machine gun sequence in the end because it felt like a replica of vikram and just seemed so forced. like a desperate attempt at convincing themselves and the audience that yes, she's not here just for plot advancement. her backstory added nothing to her character.
such an excruciating movie. it was like a collage of multiple movies mashed together the night before the submission. i can't believe im saying this, but war seemed more realistic. ATLEAST it had good music. i dont get the hype behind besharam rang and jhoome jo pathaan either. what am i missing here. especially jhoome jo pathaan. like besharam ramg still had a sliver of tune to vibe to, i died laughing at the cat puking dance step she does in the beginning of the song. what the fuck is jhoome jo pathaan.
imagine a raw agent being told by his boss to get to work, and he replies with "i got a date with my isi agent girlfriend. see ya later" what is this, a start up? the characters of shahrukh khan and deepike padukone felt like a big insult to actual agents.

Everyone also says this movie is srk's comeback bc he's only had flops since 2013 but no??? Happy new year was fun, fan wasn't THAT bad, chennai express was culturally insensitive but as someone OF said culture lol. Lmao even it was fun and better than 2 states, and dear zindagi was great honestly he either needs comedies or serious dramas leave the action to hrithik
The film would've been 10% better without the pickup lines he tried at deepika though like we need a nation wide om shanti om rewatch after that to cleanse our palate
I feel like he's good (also the fact that he doesn't do remakes I respect that) but YEAH he needs a good comedy slash family drama dear zindagi was good
And yeah the cringe dialogues were kinda ??? What is UP w these writers

★ Siddharth Anand on directing Shah Rukh Khan, Salman in Pathaan: They’re like Godzilla and King Kong!
Feb 03, 2023
Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has been wreaking havoc at the box office, since it released on January 25, 2023. The film has been making historic box-office collections, and is garnering great response from the audience. Pathaan is a part of Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe which kicked off with Ek Tha Tiger in 2012. Salman Khan has an extended cameo in Pathaan, and he is seen in his avatar of the iconic spy, Tiger. Fans are loving Shah Rukh Khan and Salman’s camaraderie in the movie! Pathaan director Siddharth Anand recently spoke to Pinkvilla about his experience directing the two superstars together on Pathaan set, and how Shah Rukh and Salman improvised their scenes. He also addressed Shah Rukh and Salman’s fun banter in the post-credit scene of Pathaan!
Siddharth Anand on directing Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan together for Pathaan
Siddharth Anand opened up on directing Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khantogether for Pathaan.  He compared the two superstars to King Kong and Godzilla, and said that it was great fun directing them because they are friends who want the best for each other. Siddharth Anand told Pinkvilla, “The atmosphere on the set is something like, 'Oh my God there are these two- Godzilla and King Kong.’ You have to manage that and it's just so much fun because they are friends and they both don't want to step on each other's toes, they don't want to steal the other person's limelight. They want to give the other person the limelight.”
Siddharth Anand on Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan’s bond
Further speaking about their bond, he said that Shah Rukh and Salman are two very confident actors who only want the other to do better. “That is so beautiful, what they share. They are so confident and secure in their positions. They were helping each other to do things, to better each other. There's just so much love and respect. So what you read about competition and stuff like that...my God, they just love each other. And you can feel the love and respect they have for each other and they want to do it better for the other person. That he looks better. There's no competition and it’s so beautiful,” said Siddharth
When asked if Salman and Shah Rukh improvised on Pathaan set, Siddharth Anand said, “They have such an experience that you want them to improvise. So you take those dialogues to them, when they say they'll add something, and you say 'no, no no,' 'oh yeah do this, expand on this.' So when they say it, the outtake is different. The output is different. So you always improvise on that because they have so much experience and know what will click, what their audience wants, what their fans want. You want their experience in this, and there was a lot of improvisation.”
Siddharth Anand on Pathaan’s post-credit scene featuring Shah Rukh and Salman Khan
The post-credit scene of Pathaan featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan has been a huge hit among the audience. The two superstars are seen enjoying a conversation during which they contemplate hanging their boots after a three-decade run, and passing down the responsibility to the ‘new ones’. Eventually, they decide to continue themselves, saying ‘Desh ka sawaal hai’.
Siddharth Anand was asked about the much-talked-about post-credit scene of Pathaan, and what gave him the confidence to pull it off.  The filmmaker replied, "Them (Shah Rukh and Salman). It's the way they did it. They are also not doing it condescendingly. They are also saying that ‘abhi nahi hota, 30 saal ho gaye hain, chhod dena chahiye’. It’s because it's so tongue-in-cheek, and it's so self-deprecating that nobody can take offense. So they're taking painkillers and they're saying that we're tired, somebody should take over but eventually, we only have to do it. Desh ka sawaal hai. And the fact is that they have shown it with Pathaan. They only have to do it.”

Text #5 for @samuelljackson : Hey Samuel! Here's a dialogue for you: Samuel says: "Tell me, Angelo! I'm curious. Why are you refusing to be the founder of this Tech company? You have the smarts, the knowledge, but yet you refuse this responsibility. Why is that?" Angelo says: "I can't be the founder because I have to be a military leader in Somalia as well. Who do you think will control the oil of Somalia? It's me, Angelo! That's why I've chosen to step aside as a tech leader in China and let Christina and Deepika become the co-founders who run the Tech company there. Instead, I'll manage the oil in Somalia. Got it now?" Samuel says: "Now I get it. Thanks for the clarification. We can't do everything at the same time. It's too much work for one person, I agree. You handle the oil business, and back in Asia, Christina and Deepika will run the Tech business." Angelo says: "Yes, Samuel! It's a family business, and we can't afford to make mistakes. You know the evil regime will go to great lengths to sabotage our success. They already want to kill me, Christina, and Deepika. Do you understand what we're up against now? That's why I'm calling out Zoe Saldana and Rosario Dawson. They work for the evil regime and want us to fail. Screw these dimwit broads. They're so dumb. They had the audacity to call me a lunatic. Can you believe this shit? Screw these Hollywood hoes."

Director Siddharth Anand Responds to 'Fighter' Controversy, Urges Audience to Watch Before Judging
The highly-anticipated film ‘Fighter’ finds itself amidst controversy as accusations of being ‘anti-Pakistan’ and jingoistic surface. Director Siddharth Anand has addressed the criticisms, encouraging viewers to reserve judgment until they have seen the entire film.
Tumblr media
Scheduled for release on January 25, ‘Fighter’ features Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in leading roles, marking India’s first ‘aerial action-drama’. While the film has garnered praise for its drama, action sequences, and emotional dialogues within India, it has faced backlash in Pakistan. Notable figures like Hania Aamir and Adnan Siddiqui have labeled ‘Fighter’ as ‘anti-Pakistan’.
In response to these allegations, Siddharth Anand spoke during a group interview, providing clarity on the film’s intent. He stated that ‘Fighter’ is based on a true incident, portraying factual events that are already in the public domain. Anand emphasized that nothing new has been added, and those finding fault with the trailer should watch the complete film to grasp the full context.
Addressing concerns about the film being ‘jingoistic’, Anand clarified, “I think I would call it more nationalistic than jingoistic. Some things are just being taken out of context.” He urged viewers to watch the film before forming opinions, emphasizing that ‘Fighter’ stands against terrorism, not a specific country. “That’s what our film stands for, to fight against terrorism. We have emphasized the same through ‘Fighter’, and once you see it, you will understand.”
Anand responded to allegations of sparking unnecessary controversies, describing ‘Fighter’ as a “happy Indian film” and a patriotic venture. Starring additional cast members Akshay Oberoi, Karan Singh Grover, Ashutosh Rana, and Sanjeeda Shaikh, ‘Fighter’ is set to release on January 25.

Jawan: One of SRK's Best Movies
Follow me on Instagram: @thatguyanesejournalist
Let’s talk about Atlee’s Jawan
Tumblr media
Azad is a jailer at a women’s prison who moonlights as a vigilante with the aim to rectify corruption in Indian society, targeting a specific individual whose actions and status have caused extreme suffering for civilians.
Tumblr media
I’ll be honest. The plot could have easily been a two-dimensional hero versus villain story that we’ve all seen too many times. However, adding the stories about Kalki’s father and Dr. Eeram’s “negligence” really brings a depth to the plot that proves this film is not just a story about a protagonist and an antagonist: it’s a story about the people of India.
For example, to avenge thousands of farmers’ suicides, the team holds passengers of a train hostage until they get paid ₹40,000 crore ($4,818,532 USD) so they can repay the loans of the Indian farmers. The viewers finds out through one of the most emotional scenes in the movie that Kalki’s father, who was a farmer, committed suicide so that his family could pay off the loan on their tractor with the money they would receive from his death. In real life, more than 12,000 farmers in India commit suicide every year due to debts. These anecdotes in the film bring a touch of needed reality to the plot; in fact, the reality-based conflicts are something I think Bollywood needs desperately these days.
Tumblr media
Personally, I think this is one of SRK’s best movies. I’ve been waiting to see what movies SRK was going to churn out now that he isn’t doing purely romance movies anymore. I think Jawan is a great example of the content SRK is capable of creating without being a romance hero. And you see this with Azad and Vikram Rathore, who aren’t your typical protagonists. You would expect the protagonists to take the main spotlight for most of the movie. However, SRK shares the screen with a plethora of other female characters and doesn’t overshadow their acting or stories.
Tumblr media
One character that I absolutely adored was Narmada. As a female protagonist, she wasn’t the “damsel in distress” that needed saving all the time. In fact, she was a tough character throughout the movie who held her own, even when she found out Azad’s real identity as a vigilante. I really do appreciate Narmada’s character arc and the fact that she could always defend herself as an individual.
Tumblr media
A quick shoutout to Kalee Gaikwad and how effortlessly Vijay Sethupathi acted in his role. This was actually the first movie I’ve ever seen him in, and he conveys the psychotic qualities of his character without it seeming fake or unconvincing. I have a whole bunch of Vijay Sethupathi movies lined up for me to watch for the future!
Tumblr media
Also, another shoutout to Aishwarya Rathore and the wonderful Deepika Padukone. Even though her cameo in the movie was short, it was an impactful one and gave me major Om Shanti Om vibes. I love how her character was also strong and independent, refusing to be coerced by Gaikwad and his scheme to frame Vikram.
Tumblr media
I loved the movie so much. There was impactful dialogue throughout, even though some parts did sound a bit preachy but still fit the message that the movie was trying to convey. The references to SRK’s iconic movies didn’t go unnoticed by me, and it was done in a way that didn’t make me cringe. I also appreciated the way there were numerous fourth-wall breaks that seemed like SRK was addressing the real-life viewers during the film’s most crucial moments; by staging this scenes as messages to the actual people, it causes viewers to think about their own political landscape in their country and how they can impact their own government (LEGALLY, PLEASE).
Tumblr media
All the songs on the soundtrack, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, were pretty catchy to me. Welcome to another episode of me having a hard time to curate my song list. At the end of the day, I included both popular and seemingly underrated songs from the film. Give them a listen!
Aararaari Raaro
Chaleya
Zinda Banda
Tumblr media
The movie is 2 hours and 50 minutes long. Stream the extended cut on Netflix, grab a snack, and enjoy!
