People are acting like Elain Archeron Week said that they are going to personally hunt and kill anyone who makes content for a ship other than Elriel. Not only have they said that Elucien is fine and encouraged, but also, THEY JUST SAID THEY WOULDN'T REBLOG CONTENT WITH KNOWN ABUSERS. I'm also willing to bet a lot of money that the people getting their panties in a wad about this weren't even going to look at Elain week let alone create for it, which is fine but why are you getting all uppity about it now. For the multiple people I've seen who are complaining that this is ruining the fandom experience or whatever by banning crackships or that you shouldn't be a mod if you can't handle slightly strange pairings, please touch some grass. It will do us all some good.

Here’s my opinion on some of my favorite Sonic ships. I don’t have a controversial ship here, sorry not sorry.

Surgamy: Look, I really like ships about a nice and loving person with a someone who is the opposite. And Surgamy is just that but the goodest. The moment I saw people ship it, I saw the potential immediately, and it just flourish even further. This might be my only Amy ship that I full time ship all times. Sorry Sonamy, Blazamy, Shadamy, Metamy, etc shippers, I like this one more. Sunshine/grumpy Sapphics go hard.

Shadamy: Alright admittedly this isn’t my FAVORITE Shadow and Amy ship, I don’t even fully ship it. But I get it now. I used to think people who shipped this was the cringiest part of the fandom. BUT I SAW THE LIGHT AND THE POTENTIAL AND I AM ON BORED. I mean, kinda… I still see them more as friends. But yo, anytime I see y’all make ship art or something, i’mma be like “Yo dog I get it. Sunshine and grump, that shit go hard!”

Metamy: METAMY SHIPPERS PLEASE CALM DOWN! I haven’t stopped shipping them, it’s just the fire has died down. I just, started to see them less as a couple potential and just more as friend potential. Like, I just think the idea of Amy, being the ultimate friend maker she is being besties with a clone of her crush that has to kill her like 20 times while he’s going through a existential crisis is cute, funny, and full of potential that doesn’t have to be romantic. And I’ve just started to see them in more of that light.

Knuxrouge: According to the shipping wiki this is one of the more popular ones, and this is one of the only BIG ones I actually ship fully. IDK dog, I just think it’s cute and funny when a character’s reaction to be flirted with is “W…W…Women pretty.” They be cute.

Bigfinite: BLAME THIS ON @bbgatile 1000%. For those who don’t know, they made a bunch of crackship art a few years ago, which they now since deleted, which please don’t hate them for its their art, they can do what they want with it, if you want to find it, just google the ship name on google you’ll find some reblogs. But I saw that shit and I’ve loved this pairing to death since. I love dog/cat pairings! I love calm/extreame pairings! I love villains/that one side character pairings! It’s just a good ship and it’s BULLSHIT that there is only like 4 works of it on AO3. Best believe my next STH fic is gonna be about them.

Whispangle: Do I even need to say anything? Pretty sure this shit practically IS canon! Whatever! Lemur and Wolf sapphics goes hard AF.

Shadknux: This like my only Shadow ship. I think this is real good soup. Although, if I had a preference, I prefer the Boom! Iteration of this ship more. IDK Dumb himbo with enough Twink is extremely cute. I really like these two. I admittedly don’t read a lot of Sonic fics, but I wanna know if there’s some good ones with this pairing.

Jetilver: I understand why one wouldn’t ship them together, but I think the idea of Silver learning how to ride extreme gear, even though he can fucking fly, cute. And listen, these two is just a gay middle school couple to me. Jet is a closeted gay teen who is CONVINCED they are straight, and they just wanna be seen as cool but they come off as cringe. And there’s Silver who is just openly himself and can probably blow you up with his mind yet he finds Jet riding on extreme gear and finds it rad as shit. They cool and cute, and they deserve more attention.

Aside from the literal chaos that has been in the fandom, it feels great to be a little out of the “Elriel doesn’t exist phase” with the release of each article. It’s almost like elriels weren’t crazy for picking up what SJM was putting down in Acosf. Even when I got done reading Acosf, I knew one thing for certain: Gwynriel doesn’t exist. I wasn’t even an Elriel before reading Acosf. I just picked up what was being put down. The Gwynriels make it so hard. They need to stop the whining now!

Yeah, I mean realistically, it was a thing since ACOWAR. Since the rescue, there was little doubt which way the wind was blowing. But in GAs desperate desire to not have Azriel end up with Elain, they invented Gwynriel.

It really is very silly. Like every time I hear another argument for GA, I am just like...you for real?

And the thing is, if they were normal crackshippers, that would be totally cool. You have your Neris folks and your Azris folks--whatever. They wanna pair everyone with Eris, they are welcome to. But at least (most) of them are rational enough that they can say, yeah, I recognize this as being a crackship, but I am into it.

GAs are still running around lambasting every content maker, begging for GA art, thinking that only if they get more arts, somehow, GA will miraculously happen for them. That's not how it works.

I think they also think that SJM is some major twisty-turny writer, who bombards us with unexpected and shocking turns. Ummm...no? Not really. I think a couple of times in TOG there were some interesting surprises. But really, was anyone shocked by ANYTHING in ACOTAR? (other than Elain stabbing the King) or in CC? Particularly when it comes to relationships? Was anyone really shocked that Feylin wasn't endgame? If you were, congratulations! You are probably a GA right now.

Fandom Dramathon

I currently have a few asks in my inbox, but I promise I will get to them when I am in a better mental state. However, this shipping discourse has reached its peak and it's now starting to become exhausting. Let's be real, the show-makers are only going to focus on Daemyra - their fallout and how it affects the final outcome of the dance. Every other ship will be pushed aside! Season 2 is only 8 episodes long, leaving little room for in-depth exploration of the Greens' family dynamic. According to sources, Episode 1 will focus on B&C while Episode 2 will reveal the aftermath. With such a limited number of episodes, there may not be enough time for any romantic relationships to be fully developed, despite some fans' hopeful delusions about their preferred "crackship" being featured in the series.

And FINALLY to those who enjoy criticising fans who are invested in certain "ships" within this fandom, can you please stop? Specially when it's coming from people who can't help but embarrass themselves every 3-5 business days...? Just let people ship what they want! This fandom would be much better off if some of you didn't have your heads stuck so far up your own "asses." Instead of vague-posting about how someone else is ruining the fandom for you, just block them and move on. It's really not that hard.

Hey I'm so in love with steroline and whenever I see hate regarding them it shatters my heart knowing they really don't deserve that when there are so many problematic ship out there in this fandom... How u handle their hate when nowadays they are slowing fading away?how can we make them popular again like the old days 😭

Oh well anon the best advice I can give about not letting hate get to you is that you have to just not care because it makes no difference what other people think. People hating on Steroline is not going to make me love them any less, I've probably read every anti argument there is against them and none of it has ever swayed me because all that matters in the end is how I feel about them. You shouldn't look at is "least problematic" ship because that puts you at a stance of feeling you need to defend and protect it to win the invisible internet fight of the day and that will always make you more emotional when you see hate about them. You are putting yourself into a defensive mode when all you need to say is "I love Stefan and Caroline together I thought they had a great love story and no ones opinion is going to change that."

I mean all ships and shows start to fade away after the shows end and this show has been over for seven years so people simply move on. I'm also not sure SC was ever super popular since it was a crackship that ended up turning canon and it's two rival ships were very popular. But we had a good fandom and especially when S6 was airing we had tons of great discussions here and so many wonderful gif makers and fanfic writers and of course the Top TV Couple award that we WON when everyone thought we were a small fandom. Sadly since the show is over that will never come back but I guess I find joy in remembering that it happened.

Plus at the end of the day look at all the stuff that Steroline got some stuff that no other ship on this show got. Tons of kisses and hugs, two REAL proposals, humanity-off dual arc, multiple love confessions, domestic scenes, references to them being in love on both spin-offs, a tribute and a SONG on one of those spin-offs, promises to love each other forever and A WEDDING with beautiful vows and cinematic music. That's why I always think it's funny when people say "why does anyone ship Steroline" like yeah why would I want to ship something that got all that amazing stuff along with a perfectly foreshadowed slow burn over 8 seasons lol as if that's somehow a bad thing.
