Spent the past year slowly hunting down all the DHR Limited releases on CD to scan and update in Discogs. A sub-label of DHR focused on tracks not intended for primary releases. The first 6 releases featured these wonderful slimline jewel cases with cut-outs to see the CD and a singular color.
DHRLTD001 was the only one that had a "promotional" version, which was white and red. And then there was a misprint (or reprint?) of Patric C's DHRLTD006.
DHRLTD007 unfortunately didn't have a cut-out, but feels like the end of the first era of these releases. One of my favorites too, featuring half the tracks of Sonic Subjunkies live, then their 2 early EPs.
DHRLTD008 onward was less organized, and mostly Alec Empire-related releases. Nintendo Teenage Robots (008) was all composed on a Gameboy camera and chiptune based. An interesting limitation, but could've been fewer tracks. Miss Black America (009) definitely felt like a hodge-podge of non-album tracks.
The only 7" in the series was an EC8OR 2-track single (010) in 2000. Then the numbers start to get out-of-order. The compilation "DHR LTD 12 CD" was an interesting compilation, but unfortunately more of a teaser with all tracks as short edits. Some are exclusive to this release though. Given out as a freebie with online orders or at shows around that time. (I hope one day I can find someone selling it with a stickered jewel case to scan that in).
In 2002, the Heartworm release (011) came out, but feels a little out-of-place like it should've just been a regular MCD single from the main label. 2003 then saw the Alec Empire vs Merzbow (012) and The CD2 Sessions (014). DHR always skipped catalog #13. I honestly wish there was video recording of the "vs Merzbow" release, apparently Alec Empire was in chrome clothes and painted silver, hah.
Honorable mentions too, there was an "Alec Empire vs Elvis Presley" release in 1999 but it came off "El Turco Loco" probably for greater fear of the Elvis estate suing. I bet that would've been a proper DHRLTD010. I have this but still need to scan/photo it as it was only a 12" release. Then in 2005 by the time DHR was really shuttering, there was a random CDr by the band "Tuareg Geeks" from Mexico, which honestly isn't in my sights to find and scan.
Anyway, I really enjoyed collecting these CDs finally after only having a few back in the early 00's. Really, a lot to recommend still of it all.

eBay hunting has been full steam and last month, I somehow managed to snag a demo cassette of Atari Teenage Riot's first unreleased album. I've added it to Discogs here. This was presumably all tracks they were working on or shared with Phonogram/Vertigo, but wound up taking the money advance to start up Digital Hardcore Recordings.
I didn't even realize it, but just about all these tracks were officially released by the band with some other rarities as a special edition version of the Alec Empire/Atari Teenage Riot - Sixteen Years of Video Material (2xDVD, 2xCD) 2010 release here. They give the tracks a little bit more background in the title, but essentially the same. The only track that I don't think is anywhere else is "Delete Yourself" has an earlier vocal take without any crowd noises. Unfortunately the track "Speed" has some warping so high frequencies phase in and out through most the track on the cassette, but it's no different than the version we all know and love otherwise.
I think my favorite is how lively and playful the tracks like Children Of The Nubreed, Crash Groove, and Video Games feel. Which share a bit of the same lyrics from Kids Are United. Judging by the 2010 special release title of Crash Groove as "Crash Groove (Before Digital Hardcore Was Born Mix)", it really feels like they briefly tried to call the genre of music this until they found Digital Hardcore so much more suitable. Could you imagine everyone with hoodies that say "CGR" instead of "DHR"? Maybe in an alternate reality.

Part 1
Steve kisses him on a Thursday and he takes all the air in the room with him. Eddie doesn’t close his eyes. He’s too shocked to do much of anything, except sit there and let Steve take his face in those big hands and caress a thumb over his cheek while he presses their lips together. Eddie’s pretty sure he doesn’t move at all, glued to his place on the couch, as if time has continued on around him while he’s stuck there.
They’d been passing a joint back and forth, lazily smoking as they watched reruns of some old show that Wayne liked to put on when Eddie was a kid. It’s not soothing now, like it was back then, but is disharmonious in the background, the only sound in the room other than Steve moving against him as Eddie tries to figure out what’s going on.
When Steve finally pulls back, Eddie still doesn’t feel like he’s breathing. He’s able to take in Steve’s expression before his eyes pop open, the pucker of his lips, the shine to them that could possibly be from Eddie’s mouth. He doesn’t know why he didn’t push Steve away, why he didn’t intervene, but instead let Steve have this moment. All while he sat frozen.
The expression shifts once Steve’s eyes open, turning unbearably soft. His smile is sweet and gentle. He’s probably mellowed out from the weed, but his eyes are focused on Eddie. It’s not an expression Eddie’s used to seeing. It’s close to the one he gives the kids when they’re not paying attention, but not quite the same. Steve’s eyes are raking over his face, like he’s trying to memorize the dips and grooves of Eddie’s. He squirms under the scrutiny.
“Sorry,” Steve finally says, shaking his head a bit, “I’ve been waiting a long time to do that.”
He’s turned bashful now. Another expression Eddie’s not used to seeing. His Steve is a sarcastic little shit. He argues with the kids, pulls Robin into wrestling matches that he always wins until Robin starts biting, and carries a nailed up baseball bat in his trunk. Nothing about his Steve is bashful. Except, apparently it is. And something turns in Eddie’s gut.
He’s made some fatal mistake. Took a wrong turn somewhere and now the car is crashing out of control and he doesn’t know how to stop it. He put that expression on Steve’s face and he doesn’t know how to take it back.
“Uh-how long?” Eddie asks. He’s not sure why that’s what he says. Morbid curiosity, maybe. But now he’s desperate to know.
Steve’s jaw shifts, contemplating. “Not sure I had it figured it out then, but probably since you held that bottle to my throat.”
That seems preposterous. Completely illogical. They barely even knew each other back then outside of the passing monikers slapped on them from their respective cliques in high school. There’s no way that Steve’s wanted to kiss him for that long.
“Took me a while to pick up on the clues,” Steve laughs self-deprecatingly, rubbing a hand over the back of his neck. “I’ve never had to interpret what it means coming from a guy, so I think I deserve a pass on not getting it for so long.”
He’s smiling at Eddie again. Not quite as bashful, more teasing, like he’s anticipating Eddie teasing back. But Eddie is still stuck on the kiss. His brain hasn’t caught up to the words coming out of Steve’s mouth. He doesn’t know what clues Steve even means.
“I’m not sure what to say, Steve,” he hesitantly says when the silence has gone on a beat too long.
“You don’t have to say anything. We could put our mouths to better use, though,” Steve says, leaning in with a devious glint in his eyes that Eddie’s only seen in passing, in the halls of Hawkins High when he tried to ignore Steve pressing Nancy into her locker and kissing the daylights out of her where anyone could see.
Eddie finally snaps out of his haze and puts a hand on Steve’s chest, stopping him in his tracks. It’s the first time he’s made any move to stop this from barreling out of control.
“Steve,” Eddie’s voice sounds strained to his own ears, “wait.”
“Sorry, was that too fast?” Steve scoots back on the couch, putting some distance between them, but not backing entirely out of Eddie’s space. “I should’ve asked if that was okay, shit.” Worry creases his forehead.
“I-” Eddie takes a steadying breath, “I don’t understand why you did it at all.”
“Why I kissed you?” Steve tilts his head to the side, that curious golden retriever look. “Because I like you.” His brows furrow. “I thought that was obvious.”
“But you like girls.” It comes out more a statement, than a question. And it makes Steve look even more perplexed, the smile dipping, becoming more muted. “I saw you with Nancy, you weren’t faking that. Unless you have, like, Oscar worthy acting skills, but I don’t think you’re capable of that.”
“I do like girls, but I also like guys.” Steve shrugs, says it so casually like he has the whole world figured out and he’s unbothered by how insane that tidbit is to just drop on your unsuspecting friend, even after you kiss them. “Robin helped me figure it out. It’s called being bisexual.”
“Yeah, I know what it’s called, Steve.” Eddie huffs, frustrated with the direction of this conversation. They’re clearly not on the same page here and he’s not sure if he should just spit it out.
“Then what’s the problem?” Steve shrinks back into the couch, tension creeping into his shoulders.
“That you think I’d want to kiss you.” Maybe it’s better to just lay it all out on the table. Set the record straight here. Eddie’s beating around the bush too much.
“Y-you don’t want to kiss me? But you’ve been flirting with me for months.”
“I flirt with everyone, it doesn’t mean anything.”
“Oh.”
And Eddie watches how quickly the light disappears from Steve’s face. How quickly the smile fades and turns into a twisted frown. Steve pinches his nose and stands up. “I guess we were both wrong, then.”

"boundaries" - dallas winston
summary: dallas carries y/n to bed
pairing: dallas winston x curtis sister!reader
word count: 478
a/n: idk if this is a dead fandom but at least three times a year i remember that the outsiders exists and become obsessed again lol
Y/N hadn’t been sleeping well lately, so when she fell asleep on the couch Darry couldn’t bring himself to risk waking her up. The most he dared to do was drape a blanket over his sleeping sister before retreating to his bedroom for the night.
Dallas, however, didn’t give a shit.
He needed somewhere to sleep, and she was in his designated spot.
Dally had just lifted Y/N into his arms when her eyelids fluttered open, still weighed down by sleep.
“Darry?”
“No—shut up and go back to sleep.”
Y/N’s eyes snapped open at Dally’s unexpected voice and briefly registered him carrying her across the living room.
“Where we goin’?” Y/N’s voice came out in a mumble as her eyes fell shut again.
“Bed. Need a place to crash tonight.”
“And you chose my room? Gonna be a tight fit.”
Glory, she’s annoying even when she’s barely conscious, Dally thought, but he was too tired to be his usual combative self.
The hallway was dark, but he could see the shimmer of her eyes looking up at him from the void. He never liked the way she looked at him—there was too much hope, too much recognition, too much of an implication that she knew something he didn’t.
Dallas wasn’t exactly known for being respectful, but Darry’s acceptance of him meant a lot more to him than he would ever be willing to admit—even to himself. So, despite becoming quite fond of Y/N, he kept his distance. If there was one thing Dallas loved to do, it was to test the boundaries of every relationship he’s ever had, both friendly and romantic.
This was one boundary Dallas had reservations about crossing.
“Do you hate me, Dallas?” There was a softness in Y/N’s voice that was rare to hear coming from the girl.
Dallas paused in the threshold of Y/N’s bedroom and dared a glance down into her eyes, but quickly snapped out of it and kept moving across the room to her small bed.
“No, stupid.” He unceremoniously dropped her on the bed and turned to move out of the room, but he was stopped by her calling out to him.
“You not gonna tuck me in, Winston?”
He threw a glance over his shoulder and was met with the knowing glint in her eyes that he was ever-growing uneasy of.
Catching himself, he snapped back into character, scoffing and throwing a stupid plush dog at her head. He remembered the gang’s trip to the state fair a few years back, remembered how excited she was when Soda won it for her after seven tries at the ring toss, and he remembered her shoving it in his face while teasing that the K-9 unit was coming for his sorry ass.
“Go to bed.”
The door closed behind him with a solid thud.
Stupid girl.
~~~
i'm trying to get back in the writing groove but i'm so uninspired lol—feedback is appreciated as usual :)
