Dictators, fascists, and oligarchs want us to believe that they are all-powerful and that we would be nothing without them. The reality is: They don’t create anything. We, the people, create EVERYTHING!
I made this poster for the Justseeds graphics library and it’s under a creative commons license and free to download and use! More details + download high-res files on my website: here.
Inspired by this passage from the Daniel Hunter article 10 ways to be prepared and grounded now that Trump has won:
ā€œIt will be helpful to have a power analysis in our minds, specifically that’s known as the upside-down triangle. This tool was built to explain how power moves even under dictatorships.Ā  The central tenet is that like an upside-down triangle, power can be unstable. It naturally topples over without anything supporting it. To prevent that, power relies on pillars of support to keep it upright. Casually, the left often focuses on pillars of support that include governments, media, corporations, shareholders and policy makers. Describing the pillars of support, Gene Sharp wrote: ā€˜By themselves, rulers cannot collect taxes, enforce repressive laws and regulations, keep trains running on time, prepare national budgets, direct traffic, manage ports, print money, repair roads, keep markets supplied with food, make steel, build rockets, train the police and army, issue postage stamps or even milk a cow. People provide these services to the ruler though a variety of organizations and institutions. If people would stop providing these skills, the ruler could not rule.’ Removing one pillar of support can often gain major, life-saving concessions. In response to Trump’s 2019 government shutdown, flight attendants prepared a national strike. Such a strike would ground planes across the country and a key transportation network. Within hours of announcing they were ā€œmobilizing immediatelyā€ for a strike, Trump capitulated.ā€

Formula 1 as boybands
Early 2000s Backstreet Circuit burst on the scene in 2000 with their infectious hit Britney's In The Wall and charmed the nation. Brought together by the legendary Ron Dennis, critics have been quick to raise the question of how manufactured they are but nobody can deny Backstreet Mania is taking over the new millenium.
2010s As the world witnessed the formation of Formula One Direction, plucked from 5 regular boys with humble beginnings on the popular contest programme Pole Position, who knew in one short year the walls of every teenager would be filled with posters of Charles, Alex, George, Pierre and Lando. But no matter what age you are these boys have made a splash on pop culture unheard of since Backstreet Circuit.
2020s They sing, they dance, they write, they produce, if you haven't heard of Checkered Flag, get ready for their incoming world domination. Headed by leader and main producer Yuki Tsunoda, this supergroup is ready to make boybands cool again with their catchy tunes and impressive choreography.

so fascinated by burt's/irving's motivation's total exclusion from the lumon orientation video. owning up to what actually happened there wouldn't look good in your sanitized propaganda video would it. i also can't help but read in a hint of corporate homophobia -- sure the Motive Of Love is all fine and dandy when it's mark and helly's desperate goodbye kiss, but it doesn't play as well for a genuine romance between two men to be shown, huh.

being on marauders tumblr has made me realize that a lot of people would actually share anne rice's (terrible) opinion about fanfiction if they didn't write fanfic themselves.

iiii wannaaaaa talk about something. i have opinions. so ok here goes and please,,,, i’m just sharing my perspective and i don’t want to shade anyone so don’t take it personally :(
but i’ve noticed that a lot of people want to find a community here, they want to find friends and maybe even validation and that’s totally normal. we’re a social species, and it’s also normal to have your own group of friends whom you mostly interact with.
but if you want a community, and if you have a voice in that community especially, you also have a part to play in making that inclusive and welcoming to all. whether you want to be in that position or not, it’s just simple math that someone with 3000 followers has a bigger impact on a community than someone with 100.
and as someone with a small blog (~100 followers), it can be hard to get interaction at all. now, this post isn’t for me, because i’m here to yap and do my thing and i genuinely could not care less if my kashima fic gets 15 notes or 150, as long as i have my little people in my phone and a space to out my silly little thoughts; but regardless, i AM familiar with how hard it is to get any interaction whatsoever besides mutuals and i know that unlike me, there are people out there who DO find this hard and struggle with that fact. so this post is more for them.
no one is obligated to interact with anyone. absolutely not. but something’s been bugging me here about this topic. if you want a community to be inclusive and welcoming, you have to actually put work into creating that space.
that means that sometimes you will have to step out of your own bubble to support, either people you don’t know, characters you don’t know nor care about, or even WLW ships when you’re straight, or on the other end, straight ships when you’re queer.
i know that i yap a lot and talk to everyone whether i know them or not, and maybe some people are uncomfortable with this, but i’d rather those people block me than that there are people out there who feel like they are excluded from ā€œmyā€ community (ā€œmyā€ because, i don’t know if i’m in one lmao), because they don’t have many friends (yet) and don’t get any interaction.
those people will, eventually, inevitably, stop trying to be a ā€œpartā€ of this community because, well, they don’t feel like they are part of it.
maybe i’m harsh i don’t know, but i think sometimes we kind of lose track of what a community is.. or what it means to be in one. some people have to try really hard to get even 5 notes on here at all, and they aren’t any less part of the community, but they probably don’t feel that way. so idk i think if you want to be in one you also have to try your best to actively make people feel included and WELCOME most of all (again, outside of your own bubble).
ANYWAY IM JUST YAPPING SORRY.
