An estimated 31 million Americans have now been thrown off what’s been called “the hunger cliff.”

Those drastic cuts have food banks bracing for impact, and some grocery executives celebrating. On a late February earnings call of Grocery Outlet, a discount supermarket chain that relies on SNAP for a high percentage of its sales, the company’s chief financial officer cheered the coming reductions. “In many ways,” he told investors, it “is good for our model as those benefits decline.”

“It does put more pressure on those consumers, and they come to us to stretch their dollar,” he said of the impending cuts.

On Jan. 9, over 7,000 New York City nurses from Mount Sinai and Montefiore hospitals in Manhattan and the Bronx, respectively, went on strike. Nurses, organized by the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA), are demanding safe patient-to-staff ratios, fair wages, and to maintain existing healthcare benefits.

“We don’t wanna leave our patients. This is the last thing that we ever want to do. But unfortunately we’re pushed to this point,” said Jessica, a nurse at Mount Sinai. “Management left their patients, not us. We’re here fighting for our patients.”

Wow, it's almost like forcing your employees to make as much content as possible in two years with no real connection or ongoing story between movies and Disney+ shows outside of pointless cameos and fanservice is a terrible business strategy.

"So the idea is to focus on 'quality over quantity'"- well at least they admit that they didn't focus on that in phase four, given how phase four turned out, but very eyebrow raising they weren't focusing on it either for phase five and six, one of which has two whole avengers films planned not far apart from each other, until phase four came back to them as a mess.
