spencer sat on the couch, a pile of colorful bows and hair ties spilling over his lap. his brow was furrowed in concentration, his tongue peeking out slightly as he carefully tried to braid your hair. you sat cross-legged on the floor in front of him, your back to the couch, shoulders shaking with laughter.

"hold still," spencer chided playfully, his fingers tangling in your hair as he attempted to secure a bow. "i think i’m getting the hang of it now."

how did this unexpected scene come to play out? you had been babysitting your niece, jane, at your apartment, surrounded by a sea of toys and hair accessories. your sister had come by to pick her up shortly after spencer got home, but you couldn’t care to clean up the mess of plastic and ribbons she left all over your sitting room floor.

you turned your head slightly to catch a glimpse of his serious expression, stifling another giggle. "are you sure about that? because it feels like you're building a bird's nest back there."

spencer's lips curved into a grin. "hey, it's a very artistic bird's nest. i like to think of it as abstract hairstyling."

you laughed harder, your sides beginning to ache from the sheer joy of the moment. your boyfriend’s genuine effort and his endearing determination made your heart swell with affection. he was always so serious, so meticulous in his work, and seeing him let loose, his playful side shining through, was a treasure.

as he fumbled with another hair tie, you felt the gentle tugging ease, replaced by the soft sensation of his fingers running through your hair. "you know," spencer said, his voice thoughtful, "i never realized how relaxing this could be. it’s like chess, but with hair."

you leaned back slightly, your head resting against his knees, looking up at him. "i’m glad you’re enjoying yourself. and I’m glad we have plenty of hair ties, because i think you might need the practice."

he chuckled, leaning down to press a quick kiss to your forehead. "thanks for being my willing participant. and for not judging my hairstyling skills too harshly."

you smiled up at him, warmth spreading through you. "anytime, baby. anytime."

“now you mustn’t distract me- i’m about to create a masterpiece on top of your head.”

with that, he went back to work, his fingers weaving through your hair, sticking pieces up at the sides and adding numerous bows as he pleased.

once he was satisfied with his work, spencer passed you a small mirror so you could gaze upon his creation. your locks were messily combed upwards, with a dozen or so hair clips ans bows pressed snugly into your scalp.

you turned back to spencer, a proud smile resting on his features.

“wow i look so…” you trailed off with a small smile on your features.

“perfect? beautiful? honestly i’ve never wanted you more.” he replied, earning a chuckle from you. he quickly pulled you into his arms, forgetting about the pile of bows and ribbons, peppering your face with sweet kisses.

Summary: You have always received compliments for your cute braids, so you decided to offer the hobbits to braid their hair. However, Legolas really doesn't understand, why you would do that.

You laughed softly at one of Pippins jokes, as he sat in front of you. Fingers nimbly combing through his wild hair. The hobbits have complimented your braids so so many times, so you decided to offer to braid each of their hair. All of them nodding in agreement and sitting down around you, almost building a wall, and waiting for their turn patiently. “Say (Y/N), do you redo your hair every day? Or do you keep some braids in more than just a day?” Pippin asked you, while his gaze was focused on the fire in front of him. “It depends. Sometimes my braids open up a little during the day, so I redo them the next morning. The only braids I never redo myself, are the ones Legolas does.” You said, while weaving the small strands of Pippins hair into a braid.

“Are they important to you?” Sam asked, as he intently watched your fingers. A small blush dusted your cheeks, as you thought about the night Legolas first braided your hair. You sat at a bonfire, much like this one, as he suddenly turned towards you and asked you if it would be okay to braid your hair. You remember being very surprised and overwhelmed, but in the end, you gave him your approval. Since then, it has been an almost daily occurrence for the both of you, to sit down somewhere secluded and start braiding each other’s hair. “Yes, they are very important to me.” You answer Sam with a gentle smile. Finishing the braid, you give Pippin your small pocket mirror, so he can take a look at the neat braid you have done. He turned around with a bright smile, until his eyes focused onto the something behind you. He quickly stood up, thanked you for the braid and left you alone with the others. Turning around confused, you raised an eyebrow as you spotted the elven prince. A scowl was present on his face.

“Meleth Nin, what are you doing?” He asked while looking at the three remaining hobbits around you. “I am braiding their hair.” Gesturing Sam to take the space in front of you, Legolas decided to join you on the log. “But… why are you braiding their hair?” Your eyebrows scrunched together at his question. “Well, they always compliment my braids and I thought I could braid their hair too. Plus, they look so adorable with their new hairstyles.” A hum left his lips, as he watched you brush through Sams hair gently. You felt the elven princes gaze on your fingers, as you parted the hair into the sections you needed. Taking a quick glance into his direction, you notice a confused expression on his face.

“My love, are you alright?” You asked, stopping your task at hand and turning a little towards him. He let out a little sigh. “I just am confused as to why you are braiding their hair. Elves tend to only braid their own hair or the hair of the person they court.” A gentle smile adored your lips, as you let go of Sams hair. “I apologize my love, I didn’t know. I just wanted to do it because they always look at me so sweetly when I do mine and so I wanted to offer them to braid their hair.” Legolas nodded understandingly, moving a little closer towards you. “You did this row wrong.” He pointed at the mistake you have made. “And this one just looks like a mess.” He pointed at another strand you have just finished. Rolling your eyes at him, you opened the braid again.

“Well, Mr. I-Can-Do-It-Better, how should I braid his hair?” A chuckle left Legolas’ lips, as he took your hands in his. “First off, you will start with this hand.” He shakes your right hand softly. “And with that hand you will grab a good amount of hair. Not too much though.” Guiding your right hand back to Sams head, you take a chunk of his hair. Apparently though, you had a little bit too much between your fingers, hence Legolas began to shake your hand once more. “Now you will part it into two sections and use your left hand...” He began to now shake your other hand. “…to pull a small strand from the right strand and pull it over it and under the left strand.” Your eyebrows scrunched together in confusion, trying to understand what he meant. He guided your hand around with his, until you finished a few rows together. A soft ‘ahh’ escaped your lips, as you finally understood the braid you were working on together with the elven prince. The both of you quickly finished the hairstyle and handed Sam your small mirror.

“Thank you so much (Y/N) and Legolas.” He said, before leaving you with Frodo and Merry. The struggle of brushing and braiding passed quickly, as you both finished off the last remaining two hobbits. A smile formed on your lips, as you watched each of them flaunter their new hairstyles. Legolas put his arm around your waist, pulling you to his side. -Kojiro- Constantly praises your work, circling you to check it out at every single angle he can, all smiles. When you asked to do his hair he immediately had his hair-tie out and a huge grin on his face, as he sees it as a form of quiet bonding. Ribbons, bows, hair clips, intricate braids, he will let you do anything you want, while going out with those is more of a no on his part, he will appreciate every moment you spend with him. The only time he will go out after you do his hair is if it’s something simple like a braid.

-Lu Bu- He took a bit more convincing than necessary, he was so confused, why on earth would you want to play with his hair? He enjoys seeing what you come up with for your own hair, sometimes it’s simple and other times he’s in sight awe, knowing that it has taken a long while. You didn’t push your luck when he finally agreed, just brushing out his hair for him, which he did have to admit felt pretty good and will at least allow you to braid his hair only. Sometimes he will wear it out, as it does stay out of the way, while other times he just has you fix his hair in his normal style, but he appreciates your help with it.

When it comes to self-care men are usually consistent with their providers. Personally, I’ve been in situations where a provider shows sufficient work on instagram, however, doesn’t actually meet those standards in reality. For example I recently went to an hair appointment with one of my close friends. When we arrived at the salon, the hairstylist made several comments on her work such as “I hate braid downs” “I wish braid downs wasn’t a part of this hairstyle but the quick weave still comes out cute.” A very important step in any quick weave is too have a very flat bread down, therefore the weave does not have a helmet look. The stylist also proceeded to not protecting my friends hair before the cap and glue method. Although, we were able to make it out with no damage, if the hairstyle would’ve stayed in her head any longer the outcome might’ve been completely different. With that being said, with this software not only will client get to see picture reviews but also ratings left by previous clients.

He notices your long box braids from down the hall and sees a tall male walking alongside with you. Eren quickly caught up with you guys. As he walked passed you, his hands slides over and grabs a good squeeze from your ass. Naturally you wouldn't mind but for some reason you got embarrassed and flustered. Most likely it was because Jean was there. Before you could respond  and complain to him, he leans over and places his lips against yours. Obviously, you kiss him back as his free hand grabs your chin, deepening the kiss. It was passionate. The kiss was probably to make up for his sudden actions but it was also because he missed your presence and touch. The way your lips felt against his own, his hands grasping and holding your hips rolled, everything. Jean rolled his eyes,

"Okay lovebirds, I get it." You break away from Eren with a small smile. You turn towards  Jean with an apologetic look, since he did just kiss you in the middle of a conversation.

Jean nodded and said his goodbyes, he'll catch up with you another. Watching as his figured faded within the crowd, you turn towards Eren and smack his arm. He let out an "ow" in response.

"Eren, what was that for? I usually don't mind it but we were chatting."

He lets out a soft groan and buries his head into your neck. He released the grip on your rear and just lays it there as his other hand slips down and does the same. You tap his back and he raises his head from it's previous position. You give him a few quick pecks, wrapping your arms around his neck, he quickly to returns the small kissed back. You both smile at one another, letting out a small giggle.

"Its okay baby, I miss you too." You peck his cheek for the last time.

"We can walk home together after school, meet me at my last period class." 

Eren face brightens up when you say those words. Mann, this boy was in love. The bell rang and you notice all the kids scrambling to get to class. He releases his arms from you and grabs your hand as you both scurry along to your next period class.

He drops you off and waves at Armin and Marco that happens to be in your last period.

"Remember your promise y/n!!" He said as he walked off to the direction of his class.

You rolled your eyes jokingly and settled in to class.

Hello!! I apologize for the delayed response, I hope you don't think I was ignoring you! (Mother's Day at a flower shop is insane haha)

But!

I have been drawing basically my whole life? What started as stick people slowly turned into chubby chibis with enormous heads, which turned into slightly more human-looking people in a mix of cartoony anime style, and then taking art classes and majoring in art helped grow my style into still more human-looking people (lol), which is a general mix of cartoony-anime and somewhat realistic?

I'm gonna sit and think really hard and long on good tips for you!!!

Draw from pictures: Still photos have the advantage of allowing you to focus on something unchanging, so you can study one thing in unwavering detail

Draw from life: Watching how bodies shift and move, how muscles contract and stretch, how emotions change the whole posture - all of that will train your eyes to grasp a more loose gesture of the whole picture, the body as a whole

Study human anatomy: bones, muscles, skin - how does it all connect? Knowing what's inside an arm will help you understand how to build an arm from nothing

People watch!! So many body types! So many ways people hold themselves and walk! So many hairstyles and clothing styles! People with walkers and wheelchairs and prosthetics!

Break it down: Basic lines turn into basic shapes, which build up into more and more complex ideas until you have planes of a face, muscles weaving in a thigh

Gesture drawing: Quick studies of the way the body fits in space! Exaggerate it like animators do, stretch and pull the body to make it more fluid and expressive! Practice mode: Time yourself. See a pose, scribble it down loosely in 10-30 seconds. NEXT!

Figure drawing: Drawing a real person in front of you is probably the best way to get used to drawing bodies (I know it can be awkward, but they don't have to be naked, although that does help if they're cool with it! You can even watch your roommate or family member from across the room and go from there.)

Get obsessed: Sounds silly? Well, if you get seriously invested in someone cute you know, or a character you really like, then take it to the next level and DRAW THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Draw yourself! In the mirror, your hands, from pictures, the way other people see you

Get models: You can totally hire models, or go to a local school who has figure art classes, but you don't have to! There are people around you who can model for you, poseable art models in plastic and wood, you have options!

Watch cartoons/anime/animation: Watch what the animators/character design team choose to accentuate and highlight in a design, what makes them look more human or not

Similarly, study other artists' work (in general): See how art has evolved over time and how different artists express the human body visually! Every artist does things differently, and there's stuff to learn from everyone!

Be okay with literally learning all the time. No experience is wasted, no piece "trash" just because it doesn't replicate what you see. Artist eyes are always working and creating things in our heads, and little "oh!" moments will hit you when you least expect it. The way someone's collarbone curves suddenly. The way someone's smile is shaped, but you never noticed before. Little things.

Websites: There are websites for quick pose studies, for expressive movements, for manipulating your own little model, for all sorts of things!

Literally the bottom line is to draw. Like. The more you draw, the more you will find what you want to change about your style, or what you really like about it that might make it unique! Draw lots of people! Don't get discouraged! Draw scribbly people and mystery people and people in colored pencils only and old people and people made out of shadows only! The hardest thing is choosing what to draw first, but if you're already an animal artist, translating that over to people might be easier than you think!

Also, I know the list is long but I'm chatty and want to help! I hope it's not overwhelming, and don't expect things to change immediately. Let yourself grow and bloom organically and over time.

He loves your hair so much! It takes a lot of patience and dedication to grow your hair out that long!

He loves to braid your hair so much! He likes it when you sit in between his legs during movies so he can braid it.

He’s so gentle too: You can’t remember a single time where he’s tugged on it while brushing or braiding it. You’ve fallen asleep so many times while he plays with your hair.

He googles so many intricate designs to try out. Although, he usually defaults to a waterfall braid if he’s tired and there’s nothing in particular you want. He also likes to weave in flowers, if you’re not allergic to them!

He always has a bunch of hair ties on hand for you. (Most of them are in red!)

If you fight with them, he always makes sure your hair is tucked away and safe before engaging. Long hair is too easy to grab!  

He loves to play with your hair while cuddling, especially. There’s something so calming about laying on his plastron while he runs his hands through your hair.

Bonus! He’s so fucking tall, that he’s actually exempt from being suffocated by your hair while spooning. Love wins <3

Leonardo

Low-key jealous </3 Just kidding, he loves it.

He loves to brush your hair, but he hits his fair share of tangles. Please teach him how to hold your hair properly.

He’s also one to look up cool braids to put in your hair! He takes a lot of inspiration from fantasy hair styles. (Specifically, he really wants to do the Legolas braids.)

He carries scrunchies in your pocket for you because he thinks they’re cute.

He doesn’t get that hair just falls out sometimes? He’s so confused and concerned when he finds a random strand of hair in his room. He thinks you’re dying, lmao.

He’d love to dye your hair someday! He’s instantly mind-boggled at how much time it actually takes, but he’s still super stoked anyways.

Absentmindedly plays with your hair during movie nights. He doesn’t even realize he’s doing it half the time, but it feels really nice.

He loves to pet your hair while cuddling. It’s so gentle and sweet, and it puts you to sleep really quickly.

Donatello

Oh, long hair? Cool. He thinks it’s impressive that you’ve managed to grow it out so long, and keep it healthy as well!

A lot of the sweet routines you form in regards to your hair actually takes a bit of time to develop! It’s something that certainly grows over time.

One of the first things is simple. He installs a little hook next to the entrance of his lab where he leaves a bunch of hair ties for you. (Always in purple, unless you ask for more colors.) He doesn’t want your hair to get damaged, or for you to get hurt, if there’s a stray spark in the lab. After a little while, he starts carrying some on his person as well.

He gets overstimulated really easily when it comes to texture, and having hair in his face while cuddling really hits all the checkboxes with that. But obviously, he’s not going to give up cuddling time, so what does he do? He starts braiding your hair before bed! And that’s when he finds out he really likes to play with your hair.

Every night before bed, he braids your hair. It’s a really sweet routine that you share with him. (And you get to listen to him talk about his day! Brothers, inventions, WOW lore, it could be anything really.)

When you’re watching something together, he’ll absentmindedly play with/pet your hair. After a while, he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it.

Michelangelo

TIME TO BUST OUT THE HAIRSTYLE MAGAZINE... HE’S BEEN WAITIN’ FOR THIS ONE

For real though, he loves long hair. (And short hair! He thinks it’s all super pretty…)

He’ll bust out the bobby pins, the hairspray, everything. People will literally ask you who does your hair, and your brain fucking fries trying to think of how to describe your non-human boyfriend in a human way. Halo braids, half-up bows, flower braids… he’ll do it all.

He’s a little rough at first, but he gets the hang of it pretty quickly. He’s not immune to the stray tangle, though.

He likes to carry bobby pins around for you, which is a contrast to the rest of his brothers! (Bangs are Hell, and you never know when you’ll need one! For your hair OR for breaking into someone’s house! <3) He also carries around little butterfly clips and stuff. If you ask he’ll start carrying ties around though <3 King.

Loves to screw around with your hair at the randomest of times. He loves to hold your cheeks when you kiss, and sometimes when you part he’ll lift up your hair a little and make silly monster noises. It’s so dumb but it makes you laugh so much.

He’d be so good at dyeing your hair, please let him!! He’s really patient, and his eye for color is great.

He loves to play with your hair while cuddling. He does a really specific thing where he’ll part your hair into a bunch of different sections before scooping them all back together and running his hands through it. It actually feels really nice on your end (and helps combat tangles), and it keeps his brain busy. You fall asleep super quick every time.

April O’Neil

Oooh, pretty!! She has super long hair herself, her’s is just really curly. So she has a lot of respect for long hair!

Loves to play with your hair during movies, if she’s the big spoon that night. She usually twists the strands around her fingers, or gently pets them. It’s really relaxing, and her touch is so gentle. You can’t count how many times you’ve fallen asleep like that.

She always has these really nice hair ties on hand, it’s great. Her hair ties are super stretchy and never snag, which is awesome. She has like, three on her wrist at any given point in time.

Loves to run her hands through your hair after kisses.

She’s never actually dyed her own hair, just because bleaching natural hair is such a process. (Plus, she does NOT want to deal with teasing from the boys during the early stages of bleaching. They would never let it go </3) However, she’s really good at dyeing hair once she gets into it! She’s meticulous, and there’s not a single strand left uncolored. Her hands are steady as she works, and it’s so calming. She has the best hair-dyeing playlists too. She always makes you laugh too, so sometimes a little dye will get on an un-vaselined patch of skin, but honestly? It’s just a cute reminder of her.

“It suits you perfectly, and I think it’s really beautiful when you have it naturally.”

“If you still feel insecure about it, we can go to the shops tomorrow and see if we can find some special hair products if you’d like?”

• Hajime will specifically find hairstyles that suit your hair type and dedicate himself to learning how to do them. Then he’ll happily style your hair for you, not missing the opportunity to give you a massage whilst he’s at it and run his fingers through your hair.

If you like his handiwork he’ll become flustered, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck as he admires your grateful smile.

• This guy keeps his hair in silky smooth condition 97% of the time so he knows a thing or two about haircare - which means he’s about to impart all of wisdom onto you. He’ll even read up on weaves/extensions (depending on your hair type) if you offhandedly mention them.

• You’ll end up with a new product each week, some are from his own bathroom shelf along with a seal of approval courtesy of ‘The Grand King’ himself.

“This one works really well for me, it gives my hair it’s shine so you’ll have to let me know what you think (Y/n)-chan!”

“Thank you, I’ll try it out.” They aren’t always compatible but it doesn’t stop him.

“I love your hair just the way it is so make sure you don’t do anything drastic okay!”

• By the end of this, you’re both exchanging tips, tricks and new discoveries with each other during pamper evenings - where he’ll happily wash and play with your hair. Oikawa will let you do the same to him if you ask nicely too~

• If you’re subconsciously fiddling with hair with furrowed brows, Oikawa will nearly always pry your hand from your locks and gently weave his own into it and play so soothingly that you’ll almost fall asleep - all whilst whispering sweet nothings or absentmindedly talking about his day. He enjoys the intimacy of it and loves how your hair curls so naturally.

• Someone decides to tease you? Oh boy, he’s on the case with his flock of fangirls and Iwa-chan on hand ready to give them Hell. Oikawas friends/fans all respect you, and you make Tōru smile which is all that matters - so they’re going to bring back your smile too.

• Oikawa can be a little shit though, especially if he’s in a teasing mood he’ll twirl a strand/section around his fingers because it’s so curly all whilst issuing blush worthy compliments that you never have the opportunity to deny.

CSP Brushes Sona-mun Uses on the Reg or Sometimes

// Since I figured out how to COPY FUCKING BRUSH URLs NOW I guess I can share some with you guys if you’re so inclined. Or if you’re just interested in looking at these sort of things.

Lip Brush: - More specifically I use the lip sheen brush. The one that lets you add a bit of light to the lips. I find the actual lip color brush being peddled here... doesn’t work well for me. But I like the sheen because it’s cute and quick. Normally I’d have done that manually with simple white pen lines. I enjoy the slightly more organic feel.

Ringlets: - The infamous Muse Sona curls. Been using them a little more recently, but actually getting them to meld seamlessly into your work can be a little tricky. I wouldn’t recommend a novice artist to use brushes like these, and I would be hesitant to even suggest anyone use them beyond hobby drawing or ‘just for fun’. Because they are fun. But it’s definitely lazy. If you don’t already have a groundwork ‘style’ they’ll stick out badly.

Braid / Cornrows/Thick Black Braids: - The wispy braid I caution similarly to the ringlets above. They may be hard to integrate if you’re not careful and inexperienced. The cornrows/etc, however, I find really useful. Normally I’d sit there and manually ‘weave’, line for pen line, such hairstyles. This brush just lets you swoop them on. Working with solid black is one of the most forgiving things ever, honestly, so it’s hard to go wrong with these even for novices I think.

Marker Brushes and Texture: - Some people may not know I used to do traditional art and colored with alcohol-based markers (Copics, Prismacolor, etc). When I switched to digital art I abandoned all that, but the aesthetic of marker colors on paper is still something I deeply love. This brush and texture attempt to mimic that aesthetic. I use the texture more than the brushes, admittedly, as I find them a little hard to color with.

Willow Vine: - I’ve used this one a few times before and I really like the way it looks, but it DOES have a crisp sort of appearance and comes already colored, so naturally it’ll take some tweaking to insert it into your scene. Works well as both willow tree vines and underwater kelp!

Kimono Patterns/Betta Fish: - This is the set that includes the pretty top-down betta fish I posted about before. It’s for a set of different patterns to put on kimono/anything you want to have a kind of Japanese/Asian motif to it, really. This is actually Set 2 this person has made. Very clean, very visually interesting. The person who made these is talented!

Flower ‘Stamps’: - Also made by the same artist above (they go by 27pt) this is a gorgeous set of flowers and plants that look kinda like rubber stamp images. Super lovely, super clean lines. I love using brushes like these for image borders and decoration, though using them in actual scenes may not work since they may come off as too 2D. I could see making it work though.

Thorny Vines: - For all your angsty, scary, (naughty???), or fairy tale sleeping princess needs? It’s just like it says on the tin. Make a ton of dangerous looking vines of varying types. I could see this being super useful for background scenery, though actually interacting with it could take some finagling.

Window Frames: - Less of a ‘brush’ and more of an asset, admittedly, and I’ve yet to use it for anything myself. BUT. This could be extremely useful for anyone wanting to quickly put together a scene. Just adjust the perspective if the view isn’t straight-on and bam, instant window. There’s a few different shapes, though admittedly not as many as I’d like.

There are TONS of others out there, and I’m still learning how to use and implement things all the time. So!

The Myth of the Tom God

(Since I’ve been kinda busy (and lazy) this week, here’s a random story that we had to do in english class so here you go that I’m quite proud of.. Credit to @watermelani and @noonelikesnoah for helping with a few ideas of this work of not-quite-art. Also I swear I didn’t misspell Earth, you can thank another human that isn’t on tumblr for the quality name after misreading Earth, which sparked this whole disaster.)

It was the first day that the suns would finally shine on Erbth. After decades of fighting the suns and moons back into the void, constantly arguing over everyone’s roles, and trying to make the place livable after all the destruction that the constant fighting caused, all the gods and goddesses could start their work on bringing Erbth to existence. The Tom God, Tim, allowed at last to prepare his land as the god of all tom cats everywhere.

Every god had their creation. There was the Tree God, Jellyfish God, Dog God, and of course the Tom God. Well, technically he was the Cat God, it was, after all, the name he was given at the creation of the universe and the name he trained to hold. However, with his actual name being Tim, everyone just started to call him Tom God the minute they were old enough to understand names. Everyone seemed to find it hilarious that Tim, the most scrawny and weak god of them all, was given the name of the strongest, male cats of the, what everyone else liked to call, very weak species. Over the years, Tim thought long and hard about how to prove to everyone that cats can be just as strong or stronger than everything else.

“So what do you think of this land little guy?” Tim bent down and asked his trusted friend, Firstina, the first cat he created. Tim wasn’t as creative as other gods with names but he was definitely better at designing. Firstina was a small, fluffy, brown and white spotted cat that was only about the size of the first design of a monkey’s foot, which the Monkey God, Cace, deemed “too small and weak,” so Cace very quickly changed their feet into a much larger design.

Firstina nodded in reply, then started to find a comfy spot on Tim’s slightly hovering foot to have a quick nap.

Just as Firstina began to purr, the Goddess of Sharks, Puddle, approached, brushing a few pieces of stray seaweed off her arms, with her first and smallest shark swimming around in a little bubble of water that was hovering above her shoulders, the very tip of the fin slightly emerging from the water. Puddle had the curliest hair out of all of the gods that was dark black almost matching the void with streaks of dark green weaved in. She had hazel eyes and wore a long sleeve shirt with long leggings that looked more like a tangle of more seaweed than actual clothing.

“So, how’s your land of bunnies going?” She sneered, slightly breaking through the water to pet her shark.

“Cats, I have the cats.”

“Cats, bunnies, same thing.” Tim got back up from the ground, ready to speak after trying to suppress his anger when Puddle continued, satisfied with the anger she’s caused. “Sorry, almost the same thing, the God of Bunnies gave them the anger to do a bit of harm on occasion.”

“Actually, the- um- purring can make you vibrate a bit. If enough cats purr on you, they could make you uncomfortably shake for a second.”

“Okay, I change my mind. Bunnies are much more dangerous.”

Tim humphed as Firstina slightly woke up long enough to stretch and let out the biggest yawn before getting more onto Tim’s foot and passing out once again.

“Don’t you have some water you need to make more salty for them or something?”

“Actually I need to finish making defenses so that they don’t murder the rest of the world, which I guess is fairly important. I don’t think that it would be that bad, but everyone else says that would be bad so I guess I shouldn’t let them go crazy and kill all the cats and bunnies.”

Tim held back his anger and disgust. “Yea, you should do that.”

“Well, anyways,” Puddle said, breaking the silence.” This has been such a joy! Tata!” She put her hand on the back of the bubble of water, slowly pushing it back towards the see, out of Tim’s line of sight.

Even more discouraged, Tim began to raise a few trees out of the ground and grow the grass high enough so that the cats could play and hide in it, leaving a batch in the middle with lower grass, a small pound, and a giant tree casting a shadow over the area.

Just as Tim started to place fake fish and sharks into the pound for the cats to chase around, the God of Snakes slowly started to creep up the mountain with his small green snake curled up on the top of his head. The God of Snakes, Sleethy, was one slithery boy, as most of the other gods liked to call him. He was a shorter, thin man, who could easily slide through any spot and constantly seemed to appear out of thin air. Always carrying a smirk, he made sure his caramel brown hair would never see a day where it wasn’t slicked back.

“Ssso, what are your little sssoft balls getting sscared of now?”

“Something that is perfectly reasonable to be afraid of.”

“Like cucumbers?”

“What! They look just like your wicked creature, not like the snakes are more dangerous or anything.”

“Sssure.” Just as Sleethy stroked the back of his snake, the little creature woke up and glided down onto his arm where he curled up around his wrist, sticking his head between the gap of Sleethy’s thumb and index finger.

“So,” Tim asked, nervously playing with his fingers behind his back. For some reason, whenever Sleethy is around he just doesn’t feel as safe as he could be. Maybe it was because of hanging out with so many cats who are constantly jumping at cucumbers or because Sleethy has a habit of arriving out of nowhere, but Tim may never really know. “How is your newest design going?”

“Oh, that little thing. Well, I’m finally ssstarting to make them even bigger than they ssshould be. I’m thinking of making the reticulated python about, I don’t know, maybe 30 feet long. No big deal.”

“Yea, no big deal. You know, I’m starting to work on some ideas for bigger cats, too.”

“Oh really? I’ll be surprised to see how you can possibly make those things bigger without making them fall over even more.”

Tim tried to think of some kind of argument against that, because his cats rarely ever fall over, but it’s not like they don’t even have to since they’re already on the floor so much.

“Well, I mussst be going now, gotta work out how to make the larger ones move easier without any arms of legs,” Sleethy smirked, already sneaking away without any sign that he was ever there in the first place.

Finally alone again, Tim sat down under the main tree in the middle and spread out a few empty blueprints to try and make his design a bit more dangerous. Firstina bounced around the tree for a second before getting too tired and finding a comfy place in the middle of one of the empty blueprints, causing most of the page to slowly start getting more crumbly, but Tim didn’t care, he was too focused on his mission at hand.

Tim spent the next few moons creating and erasing lines, and pulling up a few prototypes made of mist that ran around for an hour before fading away once the wind blew across the land. He had almost finished his newest version of a cat that he wanted to be able to live in more of a desert environment when the Goddess of Eagles swooped down on her prototype of wings she had strapped onto her back.

Talon, the Goddess of all Eagles, had a short pixie cut like hairstyle with her strawberry blonde hair glowing from the sun behind her. She wore a brown and white dress that went down to her knees that was made to have the appearance of feathers without having to kill anything, and a flowy fabric for her sleeve that fell slightly past the end of her hand.

Talon immediately sprinted over to Firstina who was running around, swatting at a few fake fish in the river. She pulled the small cat into her arms, petting the top of Firstina’s head.

“Please, make sure these things are always this cute!”

“No Hi?”

“Oh, how could I forget! Hi Firstina,” she replied, picking up the cat’s paw and shaking it very gently. “And, of course, you too.” Talon pulled Tim into a tight hug, letting Firstina climb up onto her head in the process.

Talon is one of the few gods that Tim actually likes to hang around with, except for the one week where her eagles first thought about having a nice little snack on his babies, but now they’ve limited the murder to only on rare occasions.

“So, whatcha got there?” she asked, admiring the hundreds of spread out papers surrounding the area, half of them wrinkled by a sleeping cat.

“Oh, just a few new designs I had in mind.”

Talon picked up a page labeled Machairodus. It was the biggest model that Tim wanted to make, being about 2 meters long, with long teeth and an extremely intimidating face. “So, straying away from the cuteness a little I see.”

“Just a bit, maybe.”

“Why is that?”

“I don’t know, I just thought that they could be a little scarier, that’s all.”

“But can’t something be adorable and scary? So far every other god also wants to make their animal the most dangerous version possible, and I just want one animal that is at least slightly cute.” Talon strooked Firstina’s head, looking into Firstina’s shining eyes as she did. “Plus, wouldn’t it be funner to make them look cuddly, but then they pull out a surprise move? It’s what I wanted to do with the eagles but all the other gods complained that I can’t make everything look cute.”

“I guess keeping the fluffiness could help them. Except this dude is staying, he won’t last too long anyway.”

“Hurray!” Talon screamed, waking up the cat for a second.

“Anyway, how’s trying to figure out the best possible wings going for you?”

“I think I’m close to getting them now. I’m thinking of maybe a prototype with more pointed edges next time, and then I’ll gather a few ones made of mist to help test out a few new techniques I have ideas for. I am still struggling though with figuring out a better combination of wings and claws for them.”

There was a distant cry from Talon’s bird who had decided to go on a hunting trip earlier that morning, followed by the shriek of an innocent animal.

“You should probably go take care of that, huh.”

“Most likely,” Talon replied, starting her wings up again, sending most of the leaves nearby flying all around. “I’ll see you late though!” She lifted herself off the ground and disappeared before Tim could yell a reply.

After getting all the papers to stop flying, Tim sat down and worked for even more moons, barely sleeping and living off the new idea of coffee, but he has work to do and not much time to do it before they have to start placing the animals permanently on Erbth.

When Tim was finally done, he felt that the bags under his eyes could hold a few million souls, but, at last, he was done with most of his designs and was finally ready to show them to someone, and he knew exactly who should see them first. Tim sent out the cat hair covered letters by the bird prototypes the very next day, asking for them to come in about a moon.

Before he knew it, the morning came where he could see Puddle, Sleethy, and Talon coming to the tree in the middle from all different directions.

“So, what exactly did you want us to see?” Puddle asked, her words cutting through the silence.

“My newest designs for cats.”

“What, is it 100% more fur or something?”

“More like 500% more fur so it can cover up their new, huge design.” Tim pulled a few mists of the sketches up from his blueprints laying on the ground, and soon about a dozen ferocious cats were pouncing on everything, still acting like they were the size of a pea, while having the ability to murder anything they touch.

“Ssso, what’sss ssso different about these overgrown ssscaredy catsss?” Sleethy asked, backing away from where a jaguar was trying to lay over his feet.

“Well, they’re clearly bigger, and with that now you can clearly see their wit, claws, and teeth.”

“Where did that wit come from?” Puddle commented, backing away from where a tiger was trying to hug her.

“Oh, they always had it. It was the first trait I gave them. It’s just no one got to see it because the fur blocked it out. All the deadliness was just hiding under the layers of fluff, and it took a while to figure out the perfect combination of cuteness, deadliness, and easiness, but I think they’re perfect now.”

“And you will still keep the smallest models right?” Talon asked, already on the floor, cuddling one of the lions.

“You mean Firstina’s prototype. Of course, but I’m thinking about making the fur a bit shorter so they can live in a more hot area, but I had more ideas for the longer fur in the colder climates. I’m thinking of calling them the rusty-spotted cat.”

“And what’s the name of this cutie?” Talon asked, still hugging the giant spotted cat, making the cat purr in reply.

“That’s the cheetah. They’re made to be the fastest land animal and their claws can never be hidden.”

“Still not as great as the megalodon, tho.” Puddle snickered, stepping back into the water, not looking affected at all, but clearly Tim had hit something since she only mentions that creation when she really tries to be impressive against the other, fiercer gods.

“Well, I think it’s great!”

“Ssssure you do, Talon, everything is alwaysss ssso great.”

“Well everything is great.” Talon embraced a lion, starting to braid the misty version of its mane.

Defeated, Sleethy and Puddle went back to their animals to pretend that the conversation never happened. The only one left was Talon, who managed to get all the cats to surround her in a giant hug before the cats slowly disappeared into the mist.

She got up, brushing off some of the grass off of her, before throwing her arm around Tim. “Hey, I bet we can convince Gaius, the God of Pancakes and the Universe, that a few of these cats could be at the top of the food web.”

“Really?’

“Duh, they’re the perfect combination of everything, he’ll love it. Plus I personally know that he has a soft spot for cute animal noises.” She reassured, leading Tim and Firstina, who was resting on Tim’s shoulder, to the steps of clouds to go visit Gaius up on his flying pancake.
