ohhhh my god. im rewatching the “what if i forget your face” scene in cenaurworld and it JUST occurred to me that when wammawink initially hears horse singing, horse is singing, “do we still remember what is gone?”
which just. hits so SO fucking hard after having learned wammawink’s backstory. she remembers what’s gone. realizing that horse is going through the same fear that she’d likely gone through herself as time passed from the attack on her village...... oh im emotional rn
The Ward had made a mistake. Had stolen something that had caused the very Skies to lash out, entire worlds at risk from their actions.
Time Itself shrieked in rage at the loss of Its child, or at least that's how every magic user- and the speedsters, pale and shaken and looking sick- had described it.
Someone had taken the young prince of the Infinite, and it was not the Tyrant King, long since sealed away, that lead the charge, but the Queen Regent that many had long since forgotten.
Many forgot that it was not the Dark who courted Time, but Time who courted the Dark. That It was just, if not more so, merciless as Its partner, and would Devour worlds should Its child- still with newdeath soft scales- was not returned.
Which meant that for the heroes, there was now a Clock ticking down ever so quietly. They had to take care of what was a government branch, had to deal with consequences of going over the law, or their World would End in dragon fire.
"You fall down to all fours and you heave and arch your back, which doubles in length. Your legs grow and thicken and all end in big, powerful hooves. Your neck stretches, your face stretches as though it were rubber. And you recover and stand up, proudly, on all four hooves. You have turned into a werehorse."
Panel 1: View from inside the house. We can see now that Dolores, in her old sheriff uniform, is at the head of the mob, holding a lit torch in the direction of the barn. Imogen and Laudna are crouched under a windowsill overlooking the porch, watching the confrontation.
Dolores:
Last chance, Temult!
Panel 2: The torch flies through the air.
Panel 3: And lands on the roof of the barn.
Panel 4: Imogen bursts through the door of the house.
Imogen:
No!!
Relvin:
Imogen!
Panel 5: Imogen runs to the burning barn. Her father is right behind her.
Panel 6: Inside, they rush to herd the panicked horses to safety.
Panel 7: (Shot of Laudna through the noose.) Laudna has started to follow her, but she is momentarily paralyzed by the sight of the noose and simply stands in the doorway with her hands over her mouth, staring at it in mute horror.
