In rewatching the season, I'm noticing how clever Aabria and Brennan were in crafting Tula's story. How well thought out everything was.

Specifically, the bear. It's been mentioned so many times before, but with the context of the completed season, I cannot help but be in awe at the skilful storytelling at display here. The way in which the Blue is described to appear wrong only in reference to Tula and her heart, the way in which Tula talks about curiosity and and having experienced knowing someone who died because of it. Of how Aabria describes to Izzy how Tula looks when she heals the bear, of how Aabria specifically points out that Tula recognises the commonalities between herself and the bear. These breadcrumbs that mean little in the beginning, that tell everything at the end. It's amazing, stunning, masterful storytelling. I am in awe.

la bete's a bit out of place but i wanted to draw her a bit more "beastly" than in her official art

I NEED to know about The Beast. Is she Belle? Was she turned like a werewolf? Or is she THE beast? Is she trans? Is she like Gerard where she turned human and then went back? What type of beast is she? Can she think like a human, or is she actual feral? Has she ever known love? Does she wish she could go back to before she was a beast, even if it meant she wouldn’t have her powers? I’m insane right now.

in the same vein as that post, i have been thinking about the way gerard was cursed. as a child, for his rudeness. and how he is currently turning into a monster, obsessing over finding his wife, his “true love”, so she can make it all better again, and being all the more unlovable for his refusal to admit to his own flaws. and his instinct to run away and hide.

i am thinking about the way some fairytales have been syncretised in the neverafter. evil stepmothers. big bad wolves. fairy godmothers. ...cursed beasts?

beauty and the beast. i am suggesting that gerard is the beast from beauty and the beast.

okay as someone who has not had the capacity to watch this season, and genuinely does not mind being spoiled (I am quite literally asking for it), I gotta ask; what the Fuck is up with those stoats?

i haven’t seen anyone else talk about this but i’m pretty sure the land of beasts and birds scheherazade talked about must be aesop’s fables??? all of those stories centre around animals and there’s literally one called ‘the bat, the birds and the beasts’ where the birds and beasts declare war on one another. i think it sounds completely plausible and pretty fun for the party to step into a world torn apart by a gruesome war between conventionally harmless forest animals. there are also a lot of fox, rabbit and cat appearances in those stories so??? pib lore??? trickster lore???? mr lee mulligan???
