• Vivian set off on her own, wanting to be like her Idol Monkey D. Luffy- The Pirate King.

• Being trained by The world's current best Gunman and a Yonko had some extreme benefits. She was training to be the Best Gunner in the world. However no one really paid much attention to that- It was more that she was a pretty girl who looked fairly similar to a famous Emperor of the sea.

• She set out on her own at 17, wanting to get a head start on her pirate career... which had started out as sort of a flop-

• No one wanted her on their crew, both out of fear of what it could lead to from her father and doubts about her abilities. Assuming she must be a spoiled brat with her ego inflated-

• And truth be told- Vivian was terrible with money... horrible infact- She went broke in less then a month and with bleeding pockets didn't know where to turn-

• Till she stumbled on a old acquaintance- non other then her former childhood crush Dracule Alucare- He had recognized her immediately and bought her a meal. The two talking and agreeing to temporarily join together- Especially since

• Both their navigation skills were lacking however and it didn't take long to find trouble again- This time by Alucares old 'Ex' who thoroughly beat his ass {Literally} and took the ship captive.

• Knowing if both of them were captured it would lead to trouble, so Vi being small enough to take cover on the ship and watched Alucare get taken. Knowing he wouldn't be killed off that quickly especially since Lyra seemed to have a vendetta against him and wanted to prolong it.

• So once sure the coast was clear she set off to rescue Alucare and make sure they didn't get killed.

• Weeding through the security to make sure it was light for the escape. She met up with Alucare and a grew of blue haired twins- Later learning they were The Buggy Twins.. Which sounded familiar but she didn't want to think too much on it.

• The teenagers managing a narrow escape from the Marines and setting off to the sea- truthfully without a true plan and only wanting to save their own asses-

• "Where is my Bounty?!" She said screamed looking over the stack of new wanted posters that had been delivered- it had been a week since the Marine Ship incident and Vivian didnt see a wanted poster for herself anywere! Groaning into the table as she felt the papers being yanked from her hands.

Alucare looking over the posters and snorting a laugh. She glared at her peer as he stared at her..

• Despite all of this, Vivian is probably the best marksman of this era- A true devil in her craft as she can hit any target bullseye. The Marines hadn't forgotten her nor her abilties on the navel ship being forgotten... as it seemed the reason the ship seemed to quiet was that the Marines later found 63 men with perfect bullet holes in their forehead well stashed away on the ship.

"Maybe you have too low of a Bounty?-" Alucare teased, earning a harsher glare from the red head who smacked him in the head with a spoon which he got pelted with perfectly on thw forehead-.

Clearly wanting to mess with her as he reached into his shirt picket and slammed down his own, Vi snatching it quickly and damn near hissed as she read the paper-

'Gold Gaze' Seriously?" Vivian sighed at the choice of Nickname. Alucare shrugging as well-

"Well I didn't pick it.." He defended, the twins now coming up to see what the commotion was all about. Alucare sharing his wanted poster with them-

"Not Bad!" Bee said and him and Alucare shared a high five- Weirdly the two seemingly growing close in a chaotic lawful and chaotic evil sort of way..

"Your guys bounty is higher" Alucare pointed out which Dee shrugged at.

"Yeah but you got a better Nickname then us-" Dee said- As the three repeated 'Gold Gaze' in a series of different voices. Vivian staring at them all like she was in a sick form of hell...

"I hate you guys..."

• Shanks of course keeps track of Vivian, even if she's out on his own he had eyes and ears everywhere.

• It seemed the marksman of the Pirates had made sure security was light-

He smiles brightly and starts to laugh hysterically- He didn't know if this was some sick form of Karma or the universe repeating itself-

However that morning it seemed to be the newspaper that informed him- Opening up he went to see what new thing was happening his eyes widening at what he saw.

Shanks shook his head, recognizing his daughter's skills immediately and the rough sketch of her as well- He knew her identity would be revealed soon enough. However that didn't matter, if anything it would boost her credibility.

"Good Job Vi- You did it.."

i can’t stop wondering if Shanks was in tears from laughing so hard when he heard what luffy’s dream was or if he teared up a bit while laughing cause he reminded him of Roger

Hey I have a story idea.We know that shanks calls luffy an anchor, but what if when he got drunk he kept talking about the "anchor" of the crew like yasoop talks about usoop,And if you asked one of the crew they would be like "yes there is the good old anchor" I like to think that pirates marines and pirate hunters all over the world are trying to steal the Shanks ship's anchor. And imagine everyone's reaction when not only do they discover that Anchor is a person but that he is actually Luffy, Shanks' adopted son.

Sorry it took me a bit to answer this I have been busy, but other than that YES! ORDER UP!!

It was my day off and I was hoping to have a nice relaxing day drinking at the bar, but nooooooo a fucking Yonko had to be there. Seemed like the Red hairs where drunk, especially they're captain. He kept going off about a anchor and how he missed him, why would he call his anchor a person? But what do I know I'm just a Marine captain.

Over time Red Hair Shanks posting about it anchor, seems like it's important. It was too the point that some bounty hunters heard about this and started to sneak off to try to steal the ships anchor.

I told the higher ups about this and they seem to want to join in on stealing the man's anchor for a ship. I don't know why apparently it was for leverage or something, along those lines.

The Red Haired pirates where confused by this whole fiasco. It wasn't cleared up intill the war of the best. He called STRAW HAT LUFFY anchor! Fire Fist Ace got away on the other Yonko's ship with Strawhat.

Apparently Red Hair Shanks and Strawhat Luffy have a father son relationship. So have Lucy ended up getting a raised bounty then originally planned.

He's been running around for hours and it is starting to get dark, he's scared and wants his dad, but his dad isn't here right now so its up to him to find a way out by himself.

"Hey captain we'll be docking in a moment how bout you go get Luffy" Ben called out from the helm, "yeah I'll do that, Hey Luffy get ready we'll be docking soon" Shanks called out, "Yay I can't wait to go exploring" Luffy exclaimed.

After they docked they split into groups, one group was on resupply duty and another took care of the ship while the last group took care of personal errands. "hey kid we might be here for a while how about you go explore the forest for some treasure or something interesting" Shanks said gesturing to the forest, "yeah I'll bring you back something cool" Luffy called out as he ran to the trees.

It has been two hours and there has been no sign of Luffy and the Red haired pirates were getting concerned, "where is Luffy?" Yasopp questioned, "I don't know, maybe he's having so much fun he forgot the time" Lucky Roo snickered, "Yeah maybe your right" Yasopp snickered

Luffy was not having fun at all he's lost, hungry and tired, it is getting dark quickly and he can't find his way back, he feels like crying but if he was found crying his dad would probably think he's weak and he is not weak.

There was a snap of a twig and strange noises coming from the busses like wild animals running towards him, it scared him and he got up from where he was sitting and started running, he didn't care if it made him even more lost he just doesn't want to end up a snack for a bear or a tiger.

"where's Luffy?" Shanks asked looking around at his crew, everyone was boarding the ship again ready for departure but there was no sign of Luffy, 'strange' thought Shanks, "i don't know haven't seen him since he ran off towards the forest" Yasopp replied, "you don't think he got lost do you?" Hongo asked concerned, "This is Luffy we're talking about, of course he got lost" Ben said walking towards the plank that connects the dock to the ship.

"come on guys let's go looking for the kid or else captain will be very angry at us" Yasopp called out following Ben, "I wouldn't get angry at you" Shanks exclaimed, "No offense captain, but last time luffy got hurt you blamed Yasopp and Lucky for not keeping an eye on him, when you didn't tell anyone to watch him" Hongo deadpaned.

Everyone was searching the entire village and the outskirts of the forest but could find no trace of Luffy, and Shanks was getting paranoid, "what If he got kidnapped or eaten" Shanks rambled, "Relax the people said that they saw a boy running into this direction so I wouldn't be worried, or at least not yet" Ben said, they have been walking for a while until Ben froze "Ben what is it?" Shanks asked looking over his first mate shoulder, "Do you hear that it sounds like crying" Ben answered, rushing towards the sound uncaring of the noise they were making until the saw a slight opening in the woods and a silhouette of a kid, 'Luffy' they both thought, but before they could get closer luffy got up and ran into a random direction.

"crap I think we scare him, LUFFY! LUFFY WAIT IT'S US SHANKS AND BEN" Shanks shouted out, "S-Shanks" luffy said stopping dead in his tracks looking back, "SHANKS, BEN I'M HERE" Luffy yelled out, Ben and Shanks came into view and luffy jumped into Shanks arms and started crying, "I thought I wouldn't see you again" he sobbed, "hey, hey don't cry, your not hurt are you, come let's het you back your probably hungry" Shanks said walking back towards the direction of the ship, "I'm sorry Shanks I couldn't find you anything cool, I got lost" luffy said through his tears, "Don't worry about it alright what's inportant is that your safe" Shanks said trying to calm the crying child.

When they reached the ship luffy finally started to calm down, but he didn't leave Shanks side for week's afterwards to scared of getting lost again.

i think a side effect of loving mishanks for many people is becoming very endeared by the "rayleigh is mihawk's parent" au's haha :') first one's part of this fic i posted where smolhawk challenges rayleigh to a duel ⚔️✨️ second one's just a random kid!mishanks doodle. i think their shenanigans (incl buggy!) would be cute.

the biggest reason why i reject the theory that Shanks will end up betraying Luffy/be the big bad/working with the big bad at the end of the story is that i don’t think this fits the kind of story being told here for over 20 years… yes, one piece has dark themes at times and friendly looking characters have turned out to be enemies and traitors before, but Shanks’ interactions with luffy are one of the cornerstones of his whole value system (and by extension of the story as a whole) and a betrayal here would put everything into question… it would be very weird for a story built around found family and loyalty and freedom the way one piece is to end lead into betrayal of principles like that

(also, you know, the sheer proud dad vibes he oozes whenever he shows up once in a blue moon but i wanted to talk about the narrative reason here)

•shanks will let little Luffy where his hat no matter where he is and how bad the timing is

•shanks is extremely protective of Luffy even tho he is the kind of dad that lets him do his own thing

•when Luffy was a baby shanks wouldn't let anyone hold him not even Ben

•shanks got Luffy matching outfits Roger and himself

•luffy needed a monkey leash backpack
