You know, technically speaking, isn’t Milligan an ideal Batman of sorts?
Hear me out.
Both are against killing, obviously for different reasons but their traumas were severe nonetheless.
Batman, more true in the video games, tends to be a bit, yikes. “Yeah I won’t kill you, but be prepared to eat through a straw afterwards. If you survive the fall, that is.”
Milligan fights the same suited fellows that essentially want him deleted and yet all he brings is a tranquilizer gun. Meanwhile Bats has crazy gadgets for his reasonably crazier villains… and their street level henchmen they got from Craig’s Wanted List.
Even when Milligan gets his hands on a briefcase or laser pointer, it’s aimed towards utility or advantage rather than harm. Respectively the briefcase is meant to even himself against McCracken and the laser pointer is used to free himself.
Don’t get me wrong, Milligan can cause damage, such as McCracken’s teeth or the ukulele to, I think, Garrote’s dome. But they still breathing and can at least walk in a straight line afterwards. Batman got the grenades and shock hands.

ok ok so I know stepdad Clark is popular but,, what about stepdad Bruce. what would he be like. I feel like he'd be really overprotective and strict but also somehow still really spoil them?? like he's not the "fun stepdad" per say but he DID get Jon a ps5 with a controller designed to withstand half-kryptonian strength and yes he scolds Kon about being safe but he also just. hugs him very very tight afterwards.

Book rec: How To Train Your Dragon
Yes, like the movies but also NO, not like the movies.
The movies are awesome, but I need you to understand first that the books are very different, equally awesome things. Hiccup is scrawny and a ginger. Toothless is tiny and green and talks. Gobber is built like a linebacker. Snotface Snotlout is a budding sociopath with a BFF named Dogsbreath the Duhbrain.
And they are such good books.
Tumblr media
First and foremost, the writing is superlative. It's silly and wacky and sometimes gross and so visceral and engaging with alliteratives and tactile language. The plots are NOT formulaic and do NOT go where you expect, and there's a true element of danger with unexpected deaths and consequences. I am a grown person with a mature understanding of how plots and series work, and I knew there were thirteen books in the series and STILL in book four I was terrified that the heroes wouldn't be able to pull it all off after all and the series would somehow end right there.
Second, they're marvelously short. Yes, there are thirteen in the entire series, but they just fly by. (Ha. Dragon pun.)
Third, the audiobooks are narrated by David Tennant. I repeat, all thirteen books are narrated by David Tennant in a thick, natural Scottish brogue, and he sounds like he's having the time of his life. The voices are great starting in Book 1 (I love the bits where he sings) but for me the joy really kicks off in Book 3. The section with the song of the nanodragon leaves me in stitches every time.
And because these book recs are all meant to be specific to my sliver of the Batman community, the dad vibes are peak. PEAK, I say. Stoic the Vast fills the specific flavor of kids book dad where he doesn't listen and is a little silly and often wrong which causes friction with his son who is very different from him and therefore difficult for him to understand but mannnnnnnn, he loves that kid so much. He really does. What a good dadman who is trying to best. (Oh, another difference? Hiccup's mom is alive and part of the tribe from the start. Her name is Valhallarama. But this is still very much a Dad-And-Son series.)
I strongly strongly strongly recommend getting the audiobooks from your local library. Such a treat.

Dad things Sandman says/does because he's a total dad™ :
He leans on doorframes, crosses his arms and asks "You okay?" when Roach is upset.
Makes sure everyone has eaten breakfast - can't go out working on an empty stomach.
"I'm not talking as his Commanding Officer, I'm saying, as his DAD, I don't think-"
Stands on the porch in the middle of a hurricane, hands on hips and says "Yep, looks like rain."
Takes Nacho for a walk and converses with the neighborhood dog mums (they think he's hot - he is oblivious).
"Ro'... Roach don't- Roach! Oh my god- GARY DON'T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT IT-"
So many puns. Sometimes he says them ironically, but sometimes he just can't help himself.
"Simon, if anything happens to my kid; I'm going to shove that mask so far up your ass, you'll be able to cough it up. You understand?"
Talks in baby voice to Nacho - because he's the bestest boy, oh yes he is, Nacho is the goodest doggo in the world, oh yes yes he deserves all the treats.
Constantly living heart attack after heart attack because of his and Roach's occupation.
He's Roach's father before everything else - he will always prioritise his son and makes it very clear to the people he works with.

Ky Kiske is a fascinating character to me, because he manages to be both a pretty interesting character with some strong writing and a great foil to Sol whilst also being a catholic white bread anime man. And I really do think it’s *because* he’s in *Guilty Gear*; like design and personality wise, I feel that if he was in another anime-esque series, there’d be a chance he’d  be too generic, he’d probably fade into the background.
For starters, I think it helps he’s not the defacto main character (that goes to Sol), though he is still important, but also his design and personality ends up contrasting everyone ELSE including Sol really well, since most characters take from the hard rock/heavy metal influence GG has (not all, of course, but in the first game? Ky’s one of the odd ones out, even Mays more hardcore than he is)
But even his personality I think helps, especially where most of the major characters are. criminals. so he stands out as the lil goody two shoes. but like i really do love his lil character conflicts and moments he has, his theme in strive does such a good job of summing it up and i really do love it.
Anyways I feel like Im not articulating this well but uh yeah. as much as I make fun of Ky and joke about him being Not Cool, I do legitimately think he’s a good character and GG wouldn’t be the same without him, in part because he’s such a foil to Sol to the point where he’d be generic in almost any OTHER anime fighter, but since he’s in GG it just works.

@adventures-written said: 'You need some rest.' (Dadberto) The Kind of Tired Sleep Can't Fix // rest prompts
Since the day they'd met, Vash knew Roberto's observational skills were something he needed to be wary of-- and that note clearly applied for any version of the veteran reporter. He keeps his back to him, just sort of staring out at the empty air before them, wondering if he knew just how long he'd been without sleep, this time. If the Vash of this Roberto's universe was like him enough that the tells were the same.
The Plant clearly isn't aware of just how tired he looks.
That thought quickly trailed into another. Then another. Then another, before he finally opens his mouth to speak. If it was just the two of them right now...

Sometimes I feel so out of place in the Roach hashtag because every other post is like 'SoapGhost with Roach as dead ex' or 'SoapGhostRoach' and then I'm over here like 'hehe Roach and Sandman goofy ahh Sanderson family'
TF141 members appear as cameos in my posts - in my house we have two random 10 year old side characters as the main attraction 💀💀
