I think you are putting to much faith on those writers

Perhaps.

But I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Season one was perfect. Every change they made only enhanced the most boring book of the series.

The worst thing they did in season two was the love triangle, but I understand why they did it. Books one and two are very similar when you break them down to their bare essentials. And it boils down to: Simon and Daphne are caught in a compromising position and forced to marry. Anthony and Kate are caught in a compromising position and forced to marry. Following the book for season two, making it the same for the show, would come across as repetitive and unimaginative.

Personally, I'd have kept Edwina's lack of interest in Anthony from the books and made her queer but the show decided on that disastrous love triangle.

As for the other characters, in the books we barely see the Bridgertons who are not the main focus of the story. We can't have that for the show, because, as I said, it's a different medium. They have to be explored and developed from the beginning, from season one. And because of that, they might naturally take a different path to the same destination that their book counterparts did.

Colin and Penelope's season will be very different from their book, especially when you think about where they are now. Specifically Eloise's and Penelope's relationship. The show has to fix this, something the book didn't have to worry about. And Penelope hearing Colin say he'd never court her and not making us wait ten years to see the aftermath has the potential to show us angry Penelope, instead of resigned Penelope.

Like I said, the show is not the books. That doesn't make it any worse of a story.

Okay, that question was never actually finished on the post BUT- Glee. You have a few nice people but it’s a very standoffish fandom and everyone competes to be correct in their own view, which is a bit daft. Just exist happily and stop fighting people you don’t know on the internet over a TV show
