au where obi-wan gets prophetic dreams of anakin’s fall but they’re the kenobi show montage dreams where nothing useful can be gleaned about how to stop it; so obi-wan decides he just needs to leave the order. anakin is only 12, he can be trained by another master. obi-wan didn’t even have a master when he was 12. anakin will be fine. stars, he’ll probably be better.
of course he’s not and of course obi-wan abandoning him pushes him closer to palpatine and he falls much sooner, becoming a baby sith that palpatine mostly farms out to dooku for training because anakin at 16, 17, 18 is a lot
and when he falls, the jedi order is like hm. we’re gonna tell kenobi about this. cause now skywalker is a sith with a sith master, and a grudge the size of coruscant against the guy who left him, so. let’s just give him a heads up to maybe consider going into hiding
but of COURSE when obi-wan hears his precious padawan STILL FELL he goes right to count dooku and asks to be his apprentice, he’d make such a good apprentice, dooku always liked him when he was qui-gon’s padawan, remember? now he could be his apprentice
dooku knows that with skywalker, 19 and well-trained now in the picture, his usefulness to sidious is running out, so he doesn’t have a lot of reasons to say no to kenobi. and kenobi is right. he did always like him when he was qui-gon’s apprentice, so sure he’ll give him a sith name (solence) and a red lightsaber (sick)
but basically this leads to very awkward sith family dinners where darth vader--is trying to kill darth solence with his eyes and sometimes the nearest oyster fork, darth solence is throwing sad kicked puppy expressions across the table at darth vader and sighing into his dessert pudding all the while debating with darth tyranus about how good the dark side could really be, i mean, if one were to really think about it, especially in comparison to the life we all led at the Temple, remember anakin? you loved life at the Temple.
darth sidious stopped accepting the invites five dinners ago.

For the No. 7 Whumptober prompt “silent panic attack”
Lol poor tortured Obi. I am so sorry for this. 😭 I just had in my mind “Cody rescues Obi after being held captive and helps him through panicking”.

someone write a post-rots obikin Casablanca AU where Obi-wan has a bar in Mos Eisley that Anakin randomly visits one day, and Obi-wan hits us with the line "of all the wretched hives of scum and villainy... he walks into mine"

The Rattatak origin for Asajj and Ky is very important to me because there's something so special about this bond between someone who's been raised to fight, whose parents were warlords, and a Jedi, a peacekeeper. That part is present in the canon origin, but not as much, and is only brought in later on, with Dooku: Jedi Lost's expansion on their story (which draws from the Rattatak origin so much!!!). I also think that, while Asajj is lost as a character, she should think she's right. She should think she has things backing her, at all times. Having her legacy of war and becoming a warlord herself on Rattatak means so much to her and TCW just... misses that point. The way I understand her, which is my interpretation from everything about her in Legends, she strives for power even though she has a lot of it. She has a castle on Rattatak, at least one loyal guard, a prison, and a life. Republic #60 presents this unexplored part of her story that actually adds so much to the depth of the character. She didn't choose it, not at first, but she uses the power Dooku gave her, and she has power of her own.
There's something about her in her (only) 12 Legends comic issues that gives her much more independence and character depth than I feel TCW has ever done. She is a blind servant of power, of Dooku, yes, but there's more of her. another thing that almost doesn't exist in canon, and doesn't exist in TCW at all, is Asajj and Ky's role on Rattatak.
"On her own, Asajj would have died. Left to his own devices, the stranger would have undoubtedly been captured and killed. But together they became something our world had never known... They became heroes. They ended wars and united armies. And as their legend grew..." -Osika Kirske, Republic #60
In TCW, Ky's a savior to her most of all. Rattatak isn't that much of a hostile and unfamiliar environment, and Dooku: Jedi Lost even implies he could have taken Asajj to Coruscant. But here, it's their partnership that saved them both. And they weren't only partners, they were heroes to Rattatak, a land of war and conflict. It's important that she's more than a Jedi. Rattatak was her life, not a place she as taken to as a baby. It's also important that she is from Rattatak (while Ky isn't), to not be a, you know, foreign (white) savior story. Another quote from Kirske in Republic #60 while I'm at it, about Asajj after she met Dooku.
"After her mentor's death, Ventress assembled an army. She learned new tricks from other off-worlders. She waged war on us all... She killed or captured all who would oppose her..."
Again, I don't think her being from Rattatak gives her any more right to conquer the planet (which she didn't do in TCW because god forbid she does anything but look sexy while fighting Obi-Wan in season 1), but it does make sense for her. Meeting Dooku changes her perspective, and while she still views herself as a Jedi, she feels she has more right to be a Jedi than Obi-Wan or anyone else (calling him a false Jedi). I don't think George Lucas thought all of that through when he said he wanted to make Asajj a Nightsister. Hell, I don;t think he read Republic #60. I think elements from that issue were even incorporated into the show in the first place because they just had to fill the gaps. Still, I talk a lot about how I hate that retcon and I truly do, but I never really explained it. Can't imagine this was clear as a rant but I did just want to write some of this down.
Lastly, just the concept of a fully grown Jedi learning from and teaching this feisty child how to fight in this war and how to be on this planet is. priceless. I love it.

I am once again thinking about Dazai and Ango's friendship and how Ango is the only person Dazai approached with the intention of just hanging out. Like, I can't recall any underlying motive other than Dazai's plain interest in the man when he noticed that Ango was making records of people who died in the DHC.
Objectively speaking, it would've been easy to say "oh, Dazai wants to have Ango as a contact as the man who knows the mafia's secrets" and for Ango, it would be easy to note that "it's probably better for him to be on good terms with an executive for his undercover mission" but that's... literally not what their dynamic was at all. They talked about anything other than work. They just hung out.
Has Dazai ever had another instance where he expresses interest in getting to know someone without ulterior motives? I can't think of anyone before or after where he did.
Dazai didn't suspect Ango until he saw the umbrella in his case on the night they took the photo together. And honestly, I think a huge part of the reason that Dazai is still so angry at him is not just because he was involved in the events that led to Odasaku's death but also because it was Dazai that invited him to Bar Lupin in the first place (in his own weird Dazai way). Like, that must've hurt, man. Dazai isn't the trusting sort and he also has this "everything's going to end eventually" mentality so I have to wonder if his stable friendship with Odasaku and partnership with Chuuya, both of which had lasted at least a year by this point if I'm not mistaken, made him feel bolder about going up to someone he didn't know and trying to initiate a friendship himself... only for that person to turn out to be a fucking triple agent.
It's sad, honestly. The tragedy in Dark Era wasn't just Odasaku's death imo it was the entire dissolution of the whole trio, which started with Ango's betrayal and ended with the death of their mutual friend.
Angst aside though, their friendship is really funny to me too - literally they are nothing alike, their values don't align AT ALL and it's comedy gold, especially in Wan.
I think about the only thing they have in common is that they both absolutely suck at acting on their hearts over their heads. Like, Ango has values that contradict those of his boss and career and Dazai has feelings that run counter to the most logical solution but they almost always prioritize orders/logic unless someone is dying or there is a literal world-ending threat somewhere and even then
Oh and I suppose they have their screwed-up sleep schedules too.

concept: AU where when Obi-Wan begs Yoda “send me to fight the Emperor; I will not kill Anakin,” Yoda agrees.
because he doesn’t suspect Padmé of having an affair with Yoda, Anakin/Vader doesn’t attack Padmé when Yoda emerges from her ship on Mustafar. her horror at his atrocities still enrages him, but he doesn’t kill her.
Anakin defeats Yoda, who barely escapes with his life. Padmé starts going into labor — starts dying — and Anakin finds he can’t save her.
he watches her die, helpless. he then returns to Coruscant with her body and two motherless infants —
to find Obi-Wan dead at Palpatine’s feet.
he knows now that Palpatine lied when he promised the Dark Side would allow Anakin to save Padmé’s life. he knows (because Yoda told him as they fought) that Obi-Wan died at Palpatine’s hand only because he couldn’t bear to kill Anakin. he looks at his new Master and sees a liar, a betrayer, the architect of Anakin’s grief; the one to blame — because Anakin refuses to blame himself — for the deaths of the two people Anakin loved most.
Anakin kills the Emperor.

Obi-wan saying, "Because all he'll see is me" while simultaneously being equally as monomanaical and only seeing Vader (essentially knowingly he is sending Reva to her death) is something that can be so personal-

reeling from this revelation. tbh always suspected padawan braids were a somewhat dated tradition, but this just further cements the idea that qui-gon did that to obi-wan on purpose.
(anakin, of course, volunteered and probably cut his own damn hair off himself so he could look just like obi-wan)

@wibzenadarksiderwithasoftheart tagged me to share something from a current WIP. Thank you so much! <3
This is from a short oneshot I'm working on. Soulmate au, where both the names of your soulmate and your nemesis are written in the palms of your hands, but only you can read them. Misunderstandings galore!
-------------------------------------------
“Can I ask you something, Master Dooku?”
Master Dooku nods curtly. His face is guarded. Stay where you are, his eyes say. Obi-Wan watches him, unblinking. It’s not rude. Any observant young Padawan would do the same. “I was wondering about the possible reasons why someone would avoid their soulmate.”
Master Dooku says nothing. It’s true, then. Obi-Wan’s stomach seizes with giddy queasiness. The silence holds the answers to all the terrible questions he shied away from asking for so long. “Such hypothetical situations are best discussed with your master, Obi-Wan,” Master Dooku finally says. It’s a weak attempt at evasion; they both know.
Obi-Wan steps closer. Master Dooku stands up slowly, one of his hands clutching the belt of his Jedi robe—it’s his right one, just as Obi-Wan suspected. He looks like he’s ready to bolt. Obi-Wan holds out his left hand, palm up. An offer of peace. He can feel the invisible letters burning on his skin. Look, he wants to say, your name. He wants to smile, too, but it feels wrong. Why doesn’t Master Dooku smile? In his mind, this scene always played out very differently: warm, happy, full of wonder.

between vader being in reva's eye on the new poster instead of obi wan like the other inquisitors + rumours of someone from jedi fallen order being in the kenobi series + trilla and reva both being ex jedi i have concocted a narrative where reva and trilla were super close friends (maybe even more) and the reason reva is trying to get close to vader is to get revenge for him killing trilla

Can you delve more into the pampering/babying of Emperor Luke?
bonjour anon
love how everyone sees luke and wants to baby tf outta him. he's like a sunshine american girl doll capable of mass murder
anyways, so. once again prefacing that this is gonna be vaderwan bc at the end of the day, this is me we're talking about. i think vader dotes on his sweet lil boy. he loves to give him cuddles and tuck him into bed and sing lil tatooine nursery rhymes and blow bubbles on his tummy. this is his baby boy. his sweet lil angel. yes, luke rules the galaxy, but to vader that just reaffirms that he must protect luke at all costs.
obi-wan, who has way too much experience with skywalkers, is actually the head of this family. yes, he joins in on the cuddle pile, but he's the one who will ensure luke is shifting and squirming on the throne bc he just had to go over his papa's knee. he is the one whispering in luke's ear about policies and about people trying to manipulate him. obi-wan is really the one actually making him the emperor. just, an emperor who gets sent to bed early and has to ask for permission to watch scary movies.
they may be a fucked up family, and luke may be a twenty-something year old emperor who has to hold both daddy and papa's hand before crossing the street, but everyone is happy (ok, maybe luke is a lil sulky, but he'll get over it soon enough. he just needs more cuddles.)

Kinda dark but obi wan who’s a little creepily fascinated by amputating ever since he cleaved Maul in half. The feel of flesh and bone giving way, the effect it has, the process of it. Sithy Wan could be known for cutting people up but like honestly let’s be real here even jedi obi wan has quite a track record. What if it was kind of. an interest. a bit of a hobby.

literally still thinking about that post but the only reason luke succeeded at all was because of padme. the child he fell to save showing up echoing the words of the mother he killed. he didn’t stand a chance.
