A list of reasons why Rory Gilmore is a good person and not the shallow, manipulative person people make her out to be:

Took full responsibility for breaking Paris’s project and offered to help her fix it despite Paris being only rude to her at this point

Didn’t tell anyone that Paris had to take her cousin to the Chilton formal despite Paris taunting Rory/saying Rory couldn’t get a date

Told Paris that she could talk to her if she ever needed anyone to talk to despite the fact that Paris had just exposed Lorelai and Max kissing to the whole school

Encouraged Tristan to ask out Paris because she knew Paris had feelings for him

Helped Paris get ready for her date with Tristan and allowed her to borrow her mother’s clothes

Reassured her mother several times about her relationship with Max

Agreed to a coming out party because it made her grandmother happy

Helped Paris study numerous times despite Paris almost always antagonizing her

Gave Jess a chance and was nice to him when the rest of the town despised him. She even vouched for him/defended him often.

Took partial responsibility for the car accident with Jess instead of letting him take the entire blame, which the entire town was doing (and she reassured Luke as well).

Dyed Lane’s hair and then also then dyed it again after Lane freaked out (and she even left the Kim house through the window so that Mrs. Kim wouldn’t see her)

Agreed to go with her grandfather to visit Yale to make him happy even though she didn’t really want to and was only interested in Harvard

Apologized to Dean after their break up and took full responsibility for the problems in their relationship (even though it wasn’t all her fault).

Took time out of her busy end of the year schedule (when she was dealing with finals and being valedictorian) to help her grandmother pick out an outfit for her graduation

Went back to Kyle’s house the day after the disastrous party to get Lane’s heavily stained backpack and deliver it to her

Was always super supportive to her friends (Lane with her band, Paris with academics, Lorelai with the Inn, all of them about their relationships, etc.)

Helped her mother throw a baby shower for Sookie (albeit they never got to have said shower).

Took care of Logan when he in the hospital and after even though he hadn’t been the best boyfriend at this point.

Always encouraged Dean to pursue his dreams/passions and told him he could do what he put his mind to.

Anyways this is all I can think of off the top of my head but stop saying Rory Gilmore is a terrible person. Yes, she made mistakes, but everyone does lol

The Gilmore Girls biggest fault is ruining already established great characters. Very long ramble and its just my opinion. Please read and tell me your thoughts but be nice!

Dean

Dean was a great character in the beginning! He was a dreamy, slightly mysterious, new kid from Chicago who worked on cars. His initial attraction to Rory is because of how intently she reads, Lane says he is thrilled when he hears Rory has been accepted to the prestigious private school Chilton. Then the writers dumb him down, Rory’s love of books bores him, he doesn’t care about her pursuit of an Ivy League education, he cheats on his wife with Rory.

Jess

Now I do really like Jess but his character was basically just an edgier version of Deans original character. Dreamy new boy from New York, mysterious, and he also notices how much Rory likes to read, but he likes reading too. However, to set them apart Jess has an attitude and is mischievous. Jess makes it known he has a thing for Rory pretty much since he’s introduced (Like Dean). It makes Jess look like a jerk. Since he’s literally encouraging Rory to leave her boyfriend for him. Then they do get into a relationship! Jess’s attitude just grows and grows. Some of his actions towards Rory are inexcusable. Then ✨poof✨ he just disappears. Jess was a complex character with a bad past, the show really could have leaned into that. We could have seen more character growth. But nope! (Also side note I think Jess and Paris would have been a great couple)

Marty

Marty was a funny new guy Rory meets at college. We first see him when He and Rory show up extra early to their first class (showing one of their similarities). Then, his first introduction is Rory finding him butt naked in front of her dorm. (My personal favorite introduction). He also has a slightly similar financial situation as Rory. While yes Rory’s grandparents have money Rory doesn’t. What money she gets from Emily and Richard comes with strings. Marty is always working odd jobs to help put him through school. He isn’t a trust fund kid and while I think Rory has a trust fund. She does know what its like not to have money. Lets not forget Lorelai and Rory lived in a shed! (But yeah Rory is pretty spoiled by the end) They have similar sense of humors and they like the same movies! He was really sweet (also cute) and he was a perfect new friend for Rory. But Noooo, he just had to have feelings for her. Then, he disappears for like 3? seasons and pops up like 2 more times.

Paris

Paris was a highly competitive, extremely smart, and witty student. (Also slightly a bitch but love her though). Paris and Rory pushed each other to do better in their classes. We find out though Paris is more than just a strong student. She has home life issues and struggles with self esteem. She also has had a long time crush on cute classmate Tristian. There is some focus on Paris’s issues with self-esteem especially when she meets Jamie and she mentions her bad home life. But, her home life is treated more or less as an ongoing joke. I think Paris’s issues should have been taken more seriously. Especially when she goes to Yale after her breakdown when she isn’t accepted into Harvard. But, when Paris goes to Yale she’s basically just a joke. Her issues are solved by her obsession with arts and crafts? She still has anger issues and takes control over things. Like the newspaper and then CHEATS on her great boyfriend Jamie. I don’t have anything really against Doyle. Im just not a fan of how they did Paris’s character.

Lane

Its pretty universally agreed that Lane was done wrong. Lane was a great kid! The show really could have done so much more with Lane’s religious trauma. Also, with the fact Lane gets kicked out. Not to mention the Dave situation. AMAZING boyfriend Dave. I get it the actor left to star in The OC but Zach? Why not add a new member to the band? Create a nice new character, maybe a member of a different band thats playing at the same placed they are. But Nope! She marries Zach, has an awful experience with sex, then gets pregnant with twins. Zach slept around plenty before Lane, you’d think he would be better with birth control. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve never really seen you talk about it, so I guess it’s a no, but still, have you watched Gilmore Girls? If yes, what did you enjoy the most and the least in the show?

i’ve seen it many times! i really enjoy it, it’s just not an all time favorite for me like it is for some.

my favorite things about the show are the relationship between lorelei and emily and the small town setting. and my least favorite part is when lorelei goes back to *********** and what they do to lane

Season 3: Episode 7 "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?"

I actually felt bad for Dean in this episode because while Jess and Rory have been all over eachother ever since Jess got to town, this episode is something else, like she could not be being more obvious. I also feel bad for Shane, she deserves better tbh. When Jess wraps his arm around Shane and Rory wraps hers around Dean... I would've dumped her on the spot, it's so clear she's just using him for Jess's attention or to make him jealous or whatever, and the same goes for Jess but his and Shane's relationship was a lot less serious to be fair.

I'm seriously obsessed with Milo's delivery of "Ooh, that was good. Now say, 'Then get in there and make me my supper.'" Funny line, tbh not too far off from what Dean seems to want, the way he looks at Shane when he says "Ooh, that was good." as if she was in any way involved in this conversation, the way he says the words. Just all around flawless.

Rory starting to rant about how bothered she is by another guy being there to her boyfriend is crazy, talking about Jess staring at her when he literally isn't in that scene, he's reading a book. Also her comments towards Shane piss me off. "Shane concerns me too, and all women for that matter." Piss off, Rory, what is she doing that's so wrong? Kissing her boyfriend? Rory does that all the time. Is it kissing Jess specifically? Because Rory does that too.

Dean finally breaking up with Rory was a LONG time coming, I can't make myself feel bad for her because she's been fucking with him for months now and it's about time he had some self respect. Jess's face during Dean's rant is funny though. Even though it's what he wanted he still seems surprised. (Btw it's probably not evident from this post but I do dislike Dean and all the crap he pulls and I like Rory, it's just in this specific scenario I think Rory was being shitty).

I'll be honest, it pisses me off a little that Rory has to have all her boy drama during the dance marathon and she and Jess and Dean cost Lorelai her trophy. Although you've probably gathered by now that I'm not Lorelai's biggest fan, she could've won, but Rory and Dean just had to have all that public drama, they should've been broken up by now anyway.

Other thoughts:

This is objectively a great episode.

Lane calling Dave and not saying anything seems crazy to me but, hey, Rory claims to have done this with Dean and then Jess pulls the same move with Rory at the end of this season so I guess it's legit.

Sookie looks gorgeous in this episode I would want to put 4 kids in her too /j Lorelai also looks stunning in that dress, one of her best outfits I've seen so far. Rory looks very pretty too, the eye makeup she's wearing makes her eyes look bigger than usual and it looks nice, very doe-eyed.

Every interaction between Jess and Lane, no matter how brief, adds years to my life. Also Jess reluctantly calling Mrs Kim ma'am will never not be funny, he's such an idiot.

Shane's face after Jess, Rory and Dean's interaction at the Kim's sandwich stand is my exact reaction too:

"My childbearing arrangements are between me and Sookie." "And the lord. Still not helping?" I love Luke.

I just wish Sookie and Jackson would communicate for once, that's all I'll say on that situation.

Dave was pretty adorable in this episode, I also laugh at Mrs Kim's "I hope he comes back. He seemed hungry."

Jess seems like he's in physical pain when revealing that he has feelings. Relatable.

No one knows how to refer to Rory and that's the way he likes it ("vampire ninja will not be perceived"). It also gets people to start using his nicknames, which is a plus. gender euphoria unlocked via being a dumb blond menace.
