hiiiiiiiiii! i'm new to 911blr. are there any favourite blogs you would recommend?

Ngl. Messages like this are common, but it's hard to really recommend blogs to people you don't know. You don't really know what they want on their dash. And just because a blog is one of my favorites doesn't mean you'll vibe with it too.

Not to mention the fact that it can be uncomfortable making lists like that because you inevitably end up leaving people out.

I'm gonna try to put together a list that might help new people, but it's not going to be all encompassing. I don't know everyone in this fandom. I don't follow everyone in this fandom (or on this list), and I certainly don't know every creator in this fandom. But if any of these strike your fancy, you can use them to find more blogs to follow by checking out who they reblog from, etc.

Ahhh, I love it so much. As soon as I saw the gif by @dawntainbobbynash I knew I had to have it as my header😅 That scene just always gets me. Buck is just so young in that scene and so much hasn’t happened yet. 😭😭😭 Especially with the S7 promo and @lover-of-mine theory about Buck drowning I knew it would be PERFECT. I am so excited for season 7!!

Also did you notice my bio too 😏 I added “king of angst 👑” because of my angsty fanfics/WIPs. I love to write angst and I am really proud of my writing so far! 😁

Rewatching 7x04, and I’m struck (evidenced by the tears 😿) by how much the entire Buck/Tommy/Eddie shenanigans just overwhelmed this incredible subplot (to the point where I had some trouble finding the images I wanted for this).

I think the general consensus seems to be that this was originally filmed for 7x05 (“You Don’t Know Me”), but things changed and were reshuffled midstride. It certainly fits that theme better, and was kind of jarring when set against the more light-hearted and comedic Bi Buck storyline and Bachelor fanaticism (which, really, also fits the “You Don’t Know Me” theme).

Angela Bassett’s acting is spot on, as usual, and she and Elijah M. Cooper (Harry 2.0) really clicked in these scenes. The subplot of the woman who kills her own son when she doesn’t recognize him really put a spotlight on the message about seeing and recognizing your children as they are, right now.

Athena is (rightly) angry with Harry, to the point of being too angry to even talk with him (and I’ve had 3 teen boys, so I know the feeling 😃). But, after having to deliver the bad news about her son’s death to Dorothy at the hospital, she steps back and realizes that her relationship with her almost-adult son is at a crossroads, and she has to recognize him, as he is now, and communicate with him on a new level: as adults.

It’s a really beautiful (and underrated) part of the episode. If you’re rewatching season 7 this summer, be sure to take a second look.

The 118 Family & Mario Cart

Buck (Mario): knows all the tracks by heart from playing with Maddie as a kid, mostly destroys the competition being cocky the whole time Hen (Bowser): wins only a few rounds against Buck but makes every turtle shell count Eddie (Luigi): manages to get the occasional win when Buck and Hen are taking each other out, needs to take regular breaks to get away from the bickering Ravi (Toad): loves the game, stays out of the drama Bobby (Yoshi): can't figure out the controls and tracks, has no clue what's going on (couldn't be happier spending time with his family) Chimney (Donkey Kong): tries to nudge Bobby in the right direction by bumping into him and shooting him with shells, enjoys this far more than whatever the hell the others have going on Maddie (Peach): hesitant at first but eventually joins and absolutely destroys Buck (she used to let him win as a kid) Athena: refuses to play, makes dinner instead (bakes Maddie a cake that says "Maddie #1")
