To be honest the way part of the fandom has treated this Tommy character as a god makes me dislike him more. Unfortunately the Buck bi arc was tainted for me because it all feels force. Also what doesn't help is that Eddie was to much involved in that storyline.
The way people are acting like it's a perfect relationship and yet we barely saw them together feels just weird.
Also I don't like how some literally push Eddie away for this new white man.
This is Taylor Kelly all over again. The sad part is that the season is short and people wAnt to to spend their time giving more to the new guy.
I hope him and Marisol are gone, but I'm afraid. These two characters took the joy out of the Buck and Eddie storyline for me.
The fandom, I think, in this case, is definitely the problem here,
Lou is completely unassuming and enjoying the process and being a buddie shipper just like us - if one actually bothers to read the interviews and not just pick and choose what to talk about.
That is what makes me like Lou.
The fandom has somehow glorified Tommy's character after a couple of episodes and yeah it rubs the wrong way, because, what about the story we had so far?
Is season 7 a reset to 911? and everything that came before that doesn't count? Why not just make it 911 abc pilot then?
I don't think that's the case, but I think the last minute switch between Buck and Eddie kind of ruined it for the Tim because, yes, in a way it feels forced and out of left field.
Supposed that Buck was indeed vying for Tommy's attention, why do it like that? and why involve Eddie in the first place?
I have a lot of questions and my main problem here is not that Buck is experimenting with Tommy, it's the way they practically propelled this ship off the cliff into a dangerous spin, they went from zero to 200 in a second. - That is not how you build a relationship.
You don't try to figure out what you want, mess up the first date, then invite said date to an apology coffee and then invite him to family wedding on the way. It just doesn't work that way.
I may be straight, but I have gay and bi and lesbian friends, neither one of them has ever brought a second or even a third date to so much as a friends get together before they were sure that this is something that would last, before they brought the intended victim to be judged by friends and family.
And people who talk about Tommy as being established in the 118 family, that is not true. He has a connection with Chimney in that that he owes him his life and an acquaintance with Hen, who is clearly not very fond of him, because of obvious past she had with him and their old house before Bobby came into the picture. - Remember - Chimney was her ONLY lifeline in that house.
Tommy was not a liked character before.
Arguably Buck had more history with Taylor than he did with Tommy (which is none at all) - But Taylor is a strong opinionated and often self-serving woman (not unlike Buck mind you), emphasis on woman. - That is the only reason she never stood a chance. Because the writers could have made her and Buck the greatest love story this show has seen, but they continuously managed to ruin any fondness for any female LI to ever grace that set.
And this season is short, to bring in a new LI kinda defeats the purpose of re-establishing the team and this show, because it does feel the same as any of Buck's old relationships that were being pushed for the benefit of 'god forbid Buck actually learns how to be alone and healthy and happy' - the only thing that changed in Buck this season is his sexuality and nothing else, and that vexes me.
My problem is not with Tommy, it's the perpetuation of 'poor baby Buck' society. - I love Oliver and I love Buck - I am tired of the ever repeating pattern of forgiveness for his self serving ways without any accountability that we keep seeing.
I don't think Buck's or even Eddie's firsts or you know what? even seconds should be each other, I am more than happy to make this journey with them, but let it be a marathon not a sprint to the finish line - they knew they would get renewed for another season, they could have written and built it better than what we got - because the moment they switched gears after the second episode, the story became written in the same messy last minute way both S4 and most of S5 were written.
There is no grand plan, at this point they are merely winging it and see where the wind takes them. - And that is idiotic, they had SO MUCH TIME to make this a well written story with the strike and long break after that, to write as they film is lazy and stupid and mostly childish.
And yes this is Taylor all over again, not in that they are the same type of people, but that Buck is jumping head first into a relationship without actually knowing how he got there. - Bobby said that himself - and it is the same, because who in their right mind invite a second (kinda) date to a family event? Like dude have you ever dated before? Do you how this works?
It is a LOT of pressure and not even for Buck himself - because he brought this on himself - but rather for Tommy (aka the intended victim) to be first introduced to the family after a couple of dates when he himself has no idea where he and Buck are standing.
Marisol, has indeed sucked the joy out of the Eddie's story, I don't get why do either of the boys had to be in a relationship starting this season to begin with. Like, she is literally a handbag, the token hetero symbol, so to speak, what she is doing there? is beyond me.
The catholic guilt of her being a nun is bullshit, and as Bobby said himself, Eddie has no problem committing to certain people/things. She serves no purpose this season other than a seat warmer/ glorified babysitter since Buck is otherwise engaged.
They could have gone for Eddie finding his way in the department, Eddie dealing with his mommy issues, Eddie trying to figure out what and who he wants in his life, Eddie trying to navigate Chris' terrible teenage years.
They could have explored the fact that a guy going with his supposed gf/wife in the golf course checking Eddie's hot ass (6X17) - Oh wait, they were going to... the ground for Eddie's coming out was all laid out and they took a sharp turn to left field in the second episode of S7 and made it all about Buck again, because the Natalia actress couldn't come?? what kind of a weak ass reason is that?
And yes, the cliche of receiving the odd white man out (who played a controversial role in early seasons) rather than the regular casted poc male or the guest starring woman, for that matter, better is all kind of f-ed up, but no one would talk about that, of course. 👀
Anyway, I am hoping that whatever is coming next will be worthy of our time and attention because so far we got about more of the same as far as Buck and Eddie are concerned - except that Buck has just broaden his variety and has a bigger pallet of mate choosing at his disposal.
I have two very close bi friends, so I know how their minds work, because God knows they share with me more than I ever wanted to know lol. And one of them is watching 911 with me and she is happy for the rep as well, but unhappy with how it was developed too.
At the moment, I have decided to put any Buck and Eddie topics aside and just want to get the LONG AWAITED Madney wedding, if anyone deserve a happy ending, it's them. ❤️

If the roles were reversed and Buck was a single Dad, who do y'all think he would have given the guardianship of his kid to, in case of his death?

heres a really out there theory - what if eddie does start dating again but no one works out theyre just not what hes looking for so chim or hen or someone is like "we know the perfect person for you well set it up all you have to do is show up" so he ends up going right so we see him at the restaurant waiting and thats when the season ends and we dunno that its buck (of course this is on him realizing that the family he wants has been in front of him all along hes just too scared to go after it) till the s7 premiere
Hi, Anon! Omg I LOVE that theory!!! Let's manifest that scene, shall we? 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️
I could be wrong but I get the feeling that season 7 may be a surprising one. ;-) I just don't see them able to extend the wait until season 8 (though they might try on this one depending on where they end up at the end of this season) or 9, not organically. So you never know. *wink wonk*
Thank you for the ask! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day, Anon!!! <3

for the 911 ask game: 5 & 11
5. What songs do you want to play in future episodes of the show? What songs do you want to play in specific scenes of these future episodes?
If they ever played 'Putting the dog to sleep' by The Antlers in a scene - especailly for Buck - I would be found in a puddle of tears.
Additonally, would love to have more Springsteen songs for Bobby-Buck moments
11. Are there any head canons that you have about any of the characters that is completely random but you love it anyway?
Buck being a good field hockey player. I play field hockey, Buck 1.0 is the embodiment of a cocky upfront/forward who will take the ball, skin the opposing team and score by himself; however every buck .0 after that is a true centre mid with boundless golden retriever energy who escaped onto the pitch and is seen just running fro end to end endlessly because he can and is happy to be there for the run.
Send me a 911 ask!

im ready for the season but all i know is it's prob gonna be a painful april for buddie until may comes around and really kicks into high gear. But if the spec is true regarding Buck that's the only confirmation you need to know the show is doing Buddie. Buddie is inevitable and endgame. BC once you ask yourself why are they doing that now in s7? It's cause now they can tell the story they've wanted to tell for the last 3-4 years and that is the story of Buddie slowburn romance.
Hey hey
I'm so sorry for the late reply I simply forgot
Yeah I can't wait for all the angst they're gonna throw at us straight away. That's gonna be delicious and stretched over 3 weeks is torture but I'm here for it
Yeah honestly I think ep 100 will tell us if they're going the Buddie route or not
I still find it soooo sus that they're naming ep 100 after one character and a love song, followed by an ep named after another love song.... Like.... Ok
So I really do think, whatever happens in ep 100 with Buck will determine where we're going
I mean we know things have been intentionally romantic at times and we know that some cast and crew are absolutely here for it
Maybe the network change is the thing we needed after all
I think they have a chance to tell a beautiful beautiful story with these two
They've laid it all out over the years, they just need to pick it up and join it all together
But I hope if they do that, they'll do it with the utmost care... no need to rush
With the way abc is promoting the shit out of the show, I'm hoping they're already aiming for s 7b/8
Cause 10 eps it's just way too short
But yeah... I'm having (probably too) high expectations for ep 100

No im not “grieving” Buddie, do you know how amazing it is to have queer/bisexual men representation in today’s media? Do you know how important it is for all of the community and the younger people watching this? This is a huge milestone and Buck’s sexuality is valid outside of any type of ship. Today we celebrate.

Totally with you on the Tommy-thing. Fandom makes me dislike him so I am not reading things about him any longer. This entire storyline is good for representation, yeah but so fsr not really showcasing a good relationship. Tommy let Buck stand there because he was fed up but he knew Buck is new to this. What did he expect?
And yeah, Lou is a totally different story there. I like sseing his view on things.
Btw do you think JHL will get as much flack for following the transphobe on IG now as Ryan did a while ago? Guess not huh?
I have resorted to blocking all bucktommy groupies, they make me dislike the fandom experience.
I have no beef with the actors, I love all of them, my problems are ever with the writers and showrunners that handles themselves in a very idiotic way when it comes to Buck and Eddie.
It's like they only know how to develop characters that are in established relationships or how to develop a character within a relationship only, and even that they do poorly because they haven't even decided after 7 SEASONS where they want the boys to end.
And by the way, since the only way they know is how to develop the characters only inside a relationship is also why Buck and Eddie are so intertwined, because if you notice, they are only growing when they are written together! The writers wrote themselves into this corner.
Anyone watching other shows knows that best friends are not written that way, that they have their own individual stories and they come together for a good beer hangout or heart to heart, or relationship advices or rooming together (Casey and Severide) because their roommate and best friend died (Severide and Shay) or their house burned down chasing a story with the reporter LI (Casey and I can't remember her name atm but she was good for him).
There are so many ways to write best friends without them being mistaken for endgame, but that is not what is happening in 911 and Oliver confirmed it himself, neither Eddie nor Buck are written in a straight manner and the actors know that, the question is, will the showrunners catch up eventually?
Lou is awesome, I like him, I like him in any show I 've seen him, lately that was SWAT. He's a good actor and seems like he's fun to be around, in a way, they kind brought Ryan/Eddie 2.0 to the cast, I find it very amusing lol.
LOL no, Ryan has been controversial even before Chrysti-Ann brought him down with her, he's poc, he's not Oliver, he speaks his mind and he doesn't cater to stupid and demanding hetero-normative showrunners. How dare he? lol
People were #TeamEvan even before #buddie came into our lives, Lou being added is the perfect excuse to tarnish Eddie so they can put him out of the picture - the haters of course - it's pretty clear that Tim is very fond of him.
And Murphy brought him in without an audition because he knows how good of an actor he really is.
JLH, like Oliver, is a fan favorite, and a beautiful fun white woman, no way would she get any blowback as Ryan. Toxicity in this fandom brings about a lot of hypocritical aspects, but that is a lot of reflection of the lives we live today outside of the fandom.
All we can do is curate our dashes and filters and make for a fun and safe environment to enjoy our time in.

"does Eddie know he can say no?" WAIT NO NOW THAT'S ALL I'M GONNA BE THINKING ABOUT DOES HE????
bestie, i typed that tag down without thinking, looked back at it, the implications hit me and i just turned around because i wasn't ready to think about it. Seriously, does Eddie know that if he doesn't want to have sex, he doesn't have to? That he doesn't have to give in because she's in the mood or escape the house because she likes it in the morning and he doesn't want to give her the chance to start something? DOES HE KNOW HE CAN SAY NO???????????? Does the show even know what they're implying there? Like, seriously. That's such a wild thing when you think about it. Eddie thinks that if she wants to have sex, he has to even if he doesn't want to. And I'm kinda what the fuck over here, yk?

i don't even think we're gonna see eddie going on actual dates probably just hear how bad they went or something. i think it's more gonna be about what he's looking for in a partner moreso then anything else.
Hey, Anon!
I actually think you're right, though I honestly could see a comedic little montage rom-com style that they would put together of all the wrong candidates and Eddie's reactions which knowing Ryan would be really hilarious. But yeah, I think it's going to be glossed over as well, that it will be more about what he's looking for than what he actually finds during the dates, like you said. =)
Thank you for the ask! I hope you have an amazing rest of your day, Anon!!! <3

I have to talk about this scene once again because I feel like there is so much to say.
Tumblr media
What Buck meant when he said it was "exhausting":
First he asked Tommy for a tour because he wanted to get to know him better (his words, not mine).
At the end of the tour Buck asked Tommy out but it didn't work out ( Eddie arrived and Tommy left with him).
Instead of asking him out on another day or calling him, Buck did the most Buck thing ever by trying to find roundabout ways of seeing him again.
First, he tried the easy way, by trying to join Trivia night when Eddie mentionned he was seeing Tommy again, but Eddie asked him to babysit Chris instead.
So he went for a different approach by trying to get Eddie to invite him to the basketball game.
When that didn't work out, he got Chimney to invite him.
That's why Buck said that trying to get Tommy's was "exhausting", because it was. He set up so many ploys to get to spend time with Tommy and none of them worked.
That's also why Tommy is surprised, because he didn't see all the nonsense Buck was pulling to get to see him. Tommy really thought this was about Eddie and Buck being afraid of losing his friend.
But if Buck had been trying to spend time with Eddie, all he had to do was ask.... they hang out all the time. The only times Buck is actively trying to join Eddie's plans is when he know Tommy will be joining.
Buck never behaved like he did when Eddie had plans with other people than Tommy.
I can't even blame Buck because this is exactly how I act when I have a crush😂
