Tickletober 2022 - Day 1: Anticipation

A/N: Happy first day of Tickletober 2022! Thank you to @august-anon for writing up the calendar list I've followed. I know this may come as a surprise to some of you who saw my post about me not completing any tickletober prompts.... well, here I am. A hypocrite... Who doesn't like to disappoint people. So while this first one is short, I have a few more of varying length.

Another thank you to @ticklishpeter for sending the prompt in. I do not really like Lila as a character so it was interesting to write for her for the first time! Hope you enjoy regardless!

Fandom: The Umbrella Academy

Characters: Diego Hargreeves, Lila Pitts

Lila knew how to play mind games, that was clear from the start. She was raised by the literal Handler, after all.

And Diego wasn't a mind games kinda guy. He was a brute force, take action kinda guy. And somehow they still meshed. That was love for ya.

But Diego had recently fucked up. He'd said something about Lila to his siblings that would've embarrassed her but he didn't realize it at the time. Until Lila stopped talking to him for a day... then she went right back to being her bubbly personality the next... and then she went through another day of near-silence while seemingly not keeping her eyes off him.

And Diego was just confused. He was feeling tense all the time, the anticipation of what could happen to him under Lila's watch tearing him apart from the inside. It got to the point where she'd merely walk into the same room as him and his whole body would jump.

Lila was sitting next to him on the couch and flipping through videos on her phone, and Diego had the TV on, trying to watch something but not focusing all the way. Lila pressed her foot into Diego's thigh for some physical touch comfort. And then she slid down the couch more and rested both her feet on Diego's lap.

Being a good boyfriend, Diego took that as a hint to start administering foot rubs. Was his awaiting anticipation for Lila to do something to him finally over? Could he relax?

Lila hummed happily at the foot rubs and Diego seemed like he was doing a good job. Hell yeah!

And then Lila made an odd, "Ohhh..." noise like she'd just remembered something.

Diego was granted a kick to his chest with both of Lila's strong legs that sent him flying backwards onto the couch on his back, and like a damn spider or cat or something that's gangly and quick, Lila pounced on Diego and pinned him to the couch.

"Darling, you were honestly so cute," she pinched Diego's cheek on his still-in-shock face, "But I think we all know where this is leading now, don't we?" she smiled gently and her hands slipped under the shirt he was wearing and sharp nails skittered tantalizingly across the skin on his belly.

Diego saw stars. Then his eyes squeezed shut and a guttural scream manifested from within his chest and was chased by manic laughter. This was his worst spot. Lila knew that, of course she knew that. But to go for it first? This was completely unlike her! Well... revenge, yeah... hey, at least the anticipation was over.

modern au. blankey:) i think they dress very comfy and quite lowkey, but maybe some more unusual/unique cuts and fabrics etc. also modern au tia is covered in tattoos and would not be able to tell you where or when they got them<3

OK I finally have a moment and some braincells

My favourite fic of yours is a complicated answer. The one that jumps out initially is (omg I literally just looked at the title but it has slipped free from my grasp hcthjggf) the hoshi fantasy au. it's sooooo sweet and magical and evocative. the emotions in it are so nuanced and i would looooove to read more soft fantasy from you but alas, they are not the most popular on tumblr at large lol I am due for a reread of it soon as well

the second thought was easy to love cause obviously. it was so beautiful it made me cry a lil bit. :')) that's some GOOD writing, caratblr did not deserve that absolute gem. it's just....ah. well, you know

as far as my favourite thing about your writing...I could say a lot of things. The effort, the care for the craft of writing itself, the general softness I get from it, the skill, but I think maybe it's the ease of it all. The flow. Writing is hard, good writing is really hard and takes time and energy to make read as smoothly as you make it read. I can flow through a fic so easily with your writing and the dynamics between characters always read as so natural and easy and lived in.

My favourite thing about your writing is that it is good and as a lover of good writing...that is Big. (On here especially but really just in general)

my favorite fic of yours

HAH iA i knewwww you would say this was your favorite but i don't blame you!! it's my favorite fantasy concept and i'm so glad you liked it so much :') i would love to write more fantasy but i think the worldbuilding and everything just takes me out, especially bc i don't consume a lot of fantasy media </3 and easy to love i think is my favorite smut kjskldfksj i just love the dialogue and the dynamic!!

honestly not to plug my own stuff but i think the gyu fic i just wrote has a similar vibe to the fantasy!hoshi one except it's slightly more introspective and very much Real Life. but mingyu is a farmer and the prose is pretty :)

8. what i like the most about your writing

GAH... the writing feeling lived in is my favorite compliment. AND THE FLOW.... i feel so seen!!! it's one of the things i really make sure i nail so i'm really glad you notice it :') i think it's kind of an underrated quality for writing to have tbh and i'm always trying to get better. but this means so much coming from you bc i think your writing has all that in spades!!

guys u would not believe the level of telepathy and prophetic vision i have for my mom's actions. tonight at vb i set her on the first contact, she went to take the option, and i just Knew she was gonna try to roll it short and miss, so when she swung into the net, i was right there ready to get the ball off the net and over while everyone else already gave up on the play lmao 😭😭 reminds me of when we were playing a tournament together last year, my mom peeled off the net to pass a short ball but i Knew she was gonna pass it too low for our slow setter. so i ran up right next to her from far away (i was middle back in that point) and perfectly set the ball immediately off her like 2 inches high pass lmao. no one can say i don't know my mom, even better than she knows herself sometimes
