April 6th, 2025 - CHUNITHM SUN PLUS, maimai PRiSM, DDR A3, pop'n music, PIU XX, EZ2AC, ONGEKI, beatmania (1/2)

a big arcade post of mine starting with chunithm?? instead of maimai?? how queer! yeah, i don't know why i started playing the funny-yet-low-demand slider game first instead of queuing up for maimai, but hey!! game time is game time, and i think i was in a card line anyway prior to playing :] so any ways, here's all the scores i got during this quick session!!! featuring insanely good upscores on charts like ZEUS [MASTER 14], Utakata no Sekai de [MASTER 14+, and Elemental Ethnic [MASTER 14+]... and even a slight rating boost from a near-SSS 1-miss score on conflict [MASTER 14]!!!

okay, NOW it's back to maimai gaming time . the queue finally cleared up between sets, and i was up to go play, so i did just that!!! unlike with the scores from yesterday though, i tried today to focus on taking it slower and playing Expert charts rather than the more technical and mentally exhausting Master charts of this new version, and i ended up getting 11k rating out of it!!! neat!!! but then with more songs to play and many more SSS+s to set, i jumped from barely getting 11k to now being at 11.6k... what? (also i only realized halfway that i was showing my rival scores rather than my judgement breakdown on the bottom screen, whoops! should be fixed from here on out...

now you may (not) be wondering, "okay, but why's there so much conflict in this post?" well, it just so happens that a friend challenged me to play conflict (or FLOWER if not available) in as many rhythm games as i can, on the hardest difficulty i can clear, and to take pictures of all my successful attempts. so now that i've cleared out most of the maimai/chuni scores for now, here's a massive miscellaneous game block featuring all those scores sand all those games!!! most notable of these scores include playing pop'n for the first time in a real long while, KING OF SALES D19 SS GFC ON PIU XX GRADING SYSTEM!!! GRAGHHHHHH!!!!! also cleared conflict D21 after several failed attempts!!!

switching back to ye ol' 5K for this next block, it's a bit of beatmania co-op/doubles i hijacked with someone else at the place!!! not necessarily as impressive as normal, but ehhh it's all in good fun anyways :3c also did a few suggestions and a few jammers on the EZ2AC end, including an FC/ALL COMBO on Messier 333 [NM 8, 5K Only]!!!

whoops, exhausted all the images i can fit in this post!!! definitely the longest and densest day today in terms of rhythm gaming, so i'll be back in another post to finish off this day with all the leftover scores!!! including an arcade game never seen before on this account?? hm, what could it be, i wonder...?

So fragt die in größter Freiheit aufgewachsene Nachkriegsgeneration uns, die heute 70jährigen. Es fällt uns schwer, darauf eine kurze Antwort zu geben, denn wir müssten die Zeitumstände erklären, von dem uns eingeimpften Gehorsam reden, von Angst und der daraus entstehenden Heuchelei. Wer kann das nachempfinden? Eine deutliche Beschreibung der Zeitumstände ab 1933 finden wir in der angeführten Dokumentation von Kaplan Thomas Iking "Briefe aus der Gefangenschaft" Seite 3. Und doch gibt uns der gewaltlose Umbruch in der DDR das anschauliche Beispiel einer "Revolution von unten", die das erreichte, was uns damals unter Lebensgefahr verwehrt war.

Flintrop?

Nach ihm ist in Mettmann eine Straße benannt. Nach dem Kriege taten sich die Stadtväter schwer, die Zustimmung zur Umbenennung der vorher WlLHELMSTRASSE, dann Schlageterstrasse heißenden Hauptverkehrsstraße nach einem katholischen Kaplan zu benennen! Duplizität der Begriffe: Albert Leo Schlageter, ein frommer überzeugter Katholik, Kämpfer gegen die französische Besatzung, die uns im Winter 1923 die dringend benötigte Heizkohle wegransportierte, der in Kalkum die Eisenbahnlinie sprengte und auf der Golzheimer Heide in Düsseldorf erschossen wurde, diesen jubelten die Nazis als IHREN Freiheitskämpfer hoch.

Und auf dieser nach ihm benannten Straße wohnte Flintrop.

Wer war Kaplan Flintrop?

Als junger 28jähriger Kaplan kam er 1932 nach Mettmann, wurde mein Religionslehrer am Gymnasium. M1t se1nem Temperament verstand er es, schwieriges theologisches Wissen lebendig zu vermitteln. Nach 1933, als wir, nur wenige Katholiken an der Schule, uns gegen d1e Angehor1gen der "Hitler-Jugend" zur Wehr setzen mussten, (wir waren die "Schwarzen") versuchte er, uns Argumente gegen Rosenbergs Pamphlet "Mythos des XX. Jahrhunderts" zu geben, wobei er sich geschickt im Rahmen des noch vom den Naz1s respektierten Konkordats bewegte.

Als ich 1934 in den Beruf ging, habe ich mich als Pfarrspäter Bezirks-Jungschaftsführer bis zur Auflösung der katholischen Jugend betätigt.

Nach dem Verbot trat ich dem "Gesellenverein" bei, dessen Präses Kaplan Flintrop war. An den wöchentlichen Vereinsabenden, in denen er sich als echter Seelsorger bemühte, schwindende Ideale hochzuhalten und zu diskutieren, war er mit seinen oft drastischen "Barmer" Redewendungen ein echter Kumpel. Als Schriftführer und Mitglied des Schutzvorstandes arbeitete ich eng mit ihm zusammen.

Während meiner Arbeitsdienst- und Wehrmachtzeit besuchte ich ihn im Urlaub regelmäßig. Seine stets lustige und aufgeschlossene Schwester Magdalene sorgte für eine familiäre Atmosphäre.

Bei einem Besuch 1941 zeigte er mir lachend den silbernen "Hoheitsadler des Großdeutschen Reiches", den man ihm als Wehrmachtspfarrer des Wehrbezirks Mettmann an seinen Talar geheftet hatte.

Gelegentlich erhielt ich von ihm eine Postkarte, die er aus Tarnungsgründen mit "Dein Freund Hans" unterschrieb. Die Nachricht von seinem plötzlichen Tod erschütterte mich, doch das turbulente Kriegsgeschehen in Rußland erlaubte kein weiteres Nachdenken, zumal briefliche Stellungnahme in der familiären Korrespondenz gefährlich war.

Ich hörte nur, daß am Tage des in der Pfarrkirche gehaltenen Requiem 3 Glocken abgeliefert werden mußten, die glücklicher Weise 1947, genau 5 Jahre nach seinem Tod, zurückkamen. Für mich, der sich immer mit der Geschichte der Lambertus-Pfarre befaßt hatte, war das ein ganz besonderes Ereignis, zumal ich gerade aus russischer Gefangenschaft nach Hause gekommen war.

Im Jahr 1948 fand ich in der Zeitschrift BENJAMIN die Kopie des Schutzhaftbefehls gegen Flintrop, den ich in Photokopie der Kolpingfamilie für das im Kolpinghaus eingerichtete FLINTROP-ZIMMER zur Verfügung stellte, war aber enttäuscht, daß man keine Notiz davon nahm. Man hatte in der Notzeit wohl andere Sorgen!

In der Folgezeit habe ich dann die Kpl. Flintdrop betreffenden Veröffentlichungen gesammelt, die in der vorliegenden Dokumentation festgehalten werden. Die Generation, die Kaplan Johannes Flindrop noch erlebt hat, stirbt aus. Deshalb ist es mir eine Ehrenpflicht, das Andenken an einen aufrechten Priester und Seelsorger zu bewahren, der sich seiner Verantwortung Gott und den Menschen gegenüber bis zum Tode voll bewußt war.

Kenny is a famous video game streamer. He’s not exactly a household name, but he’s damned close. He gets recognised sometimes and has a very dedicated fan base that are known for being a little… overzealous, at times. Sometimes it’s nice to be just himself, with no expectations placed upon him- and so he goes to a local arcade for a change of scenery.

Adam Page works at the local arcade. The problem is, he’s not really a massive video game person. He’s always been awful at any game he tries, despite having an interest. He was hired to perform basic fixes on arcade machines, and maybe watch the cameras to make sure no patrons were messing with anything. When the company changed hands, staff cuts were made, and now Adam spends his working life cowering behind the prize counter, praying that nobody asks him for anything other than the toys and candy that tickets are exchanged for.

Despite enjoying the classics, Kenny always plays enough ticket games to get a small prize every time he visits. Which is more often than he’d care to admit. Ticket games are a money sink, he knows that, they have to be profitable, after all- but he really likes chatting to the cute guy at the prize counter, and he’d feel weird if he wasn’t getting anything? Talking to Adam makes him feel like just some guy, for a change. He gets to be his awkward self, and he likes not having to put on a show for someone. It’s not like he can’t afford the cost of earning 50 tickets.

Every time he wants to ask him out, he overthinks his way out of it. So he keeps coming back and winning tickets, and getting the same prize every week.

Adam is deeply confused by this new regular. The guy comes in on Monday and Thursday every week during the school day, so the arcade is dead quiet. He plays Street Fighter and DDR for a couple hours, but before leaving, he earns the exact amount of tickets to exchange for a single red kazoo. It’s been 3 months. He must have at least 20 by now. Where is he putting them? Does he have a kazoo orchestra? What would a kazoo orchestra even sound like?

He’s broken from his weird thought train by the regular’s voice. He smiles at him, hands over the tickets. They were running low on kazoos, so he set the last one aside for him.

“I hope the colour is okay.” He says, handing over a hot-pink plastic noise-making device. He’s glad it’s in safe hands. He’s been working in the arcade long enough to know that given to a child of the correct age and determination, a kazoo can unleash torment the likes of which the masses have never seen, horrors only witnessed by teachers, tired single mothers, and customer service staff for family-friendly franchises.

“Neat!” Kenny says, smiling big like Adam has made his day. He has nice teeth, Adam thinks. Is that a normal thing to think about another human being?

“So, uh, I know you’re working right now and stuff- I don’t want to be rude or anything, I just- would you like to get a coffee with me this evening?” Kenny asks, stumbling over his words a little. “I mean- tomorrow morning. Drinking coffee in the evening is a bad idea. I mean, unless you work the night shift…” he rambles on for another 30 seconds until he realises that Adam has handed him something. He looks down at the fun-dip packet, and sees Adam’s number neatly written on the front, with an added smiley face.

“There’s a little bakery, around the corner from here.” Kenny says. “I’ll send you the address.”

Adam initially gave the regular his number out of curiosity. But the more he listens to the regular, Kenny, speaking, the more he genuinely likes him. He’s funny and a little awkward, and very sweet.

During the conversation, Adam admits he’s awful at video games, so Kenny invites him over, offering to teach him how to play any game he wants, provided Kenny has it already. A new game would take forever to download and he’d probably have to mess with his storage again.

Adam is awful at first, and he makes that clear to Kenny. Kenny admits he plays video games for a living, and Adam genuinely thinks that’s cool. He doesn’t quite tell him everything yet, like the extent of his following, but it’s a better start than any relationship since… well. I’m sure you can work out who.

Adam actually starts getting the hang of it, and Kenny tries to say as much, but his words get all jumbled and he calls him Hangman. It strikes them both as extremely funny for a reason they couldn’t explain if they tried. And somehow, the nickname sticks, though it’s often shortened to Hanger.

The tension finally breaks and they kiss, agreeing to start dating, but also to keep the relationship under wraps while they work things out.

Weeks later, Hangman is still pretty bad at video games. It’s actually a nice change of pace for Kenny. Hangman loves it when Kenny rambles to him about video game lore, too. Kenny opens up more about his job and confides in him about some of the stress that comes with it. Hangman is supportive and sweet about it.

Hangman falls out with his roommate, Adam Cole, and gets kicked out, having exhausted all of Cole’s goodwill that had allowed him to stay in the first place. He turns up at Kenny’s door because he doesn’t know where else to go. They’ve been together a little while now, so Kenny suggests he moves in. It’s not like he hasn’t got the space. It’ll be nice for the house not to feel empty for a change.

One day, Hangman pokes his head in to bitch about Kenny not putting his socks in the laundry basket, not realising he’s already streaming and the mic had picked up everything.

The internet, naturally, blows up about it.

redoing this post because the original description kinda sucked (not really past me's fault, i was just in a rush to post as many images as possible while in my hotel)

oh well; excuses, excuses, show us the GOOD STUFF (GOOD SCORES)

well for IIDX, i decided to use it again as a warmup to see if it'd help with playing DDR! while i didn't get any one notable score here (aside from finally clearing Te Extraño Mucho SPH-9 after 3 total tries), i felt my overall acc/consistency improve which is EXACTLY why i used it as a DDR warmup

transitioned to playing DDR with this knowledge in mind and proceeded to use None of it as i played Uppers instead (and also a bit of Infinity, where i did co-op with someone else at the arcade !)

Someone started a round of Pump and then just... walked away. So i jumped on and did the last bit of it and i did horrible bc im uncoordinated as shit, but it was actually really fun. A lot of my friends play and they've all been encouraging me to try it. Just gotta get over my fear of failure lmao

I'm fine with watever u are or wanna label urself, including contradictory labelz. I am pro furries, therianz, kin of any kind, and people who are plural for any reason. PIRATE MUSIC. Shoplift CAREFULLY ^_^ FUCK COPS. Don't start fights u can't survive tho LOL. Fat people don't need to be hot to deserve ur respect, but ALSO fat people are hot.

THINGS I LIKE: Making kandi, playing DDR, Jhonen Vasquez's works, the bus, flip phones, weird pedantic people, obsessives, music that sounds bad, underground bands, local concerts, St. Louis, bugs, amphibians, pigs, scene culture, emos and goths, debate, MP3 players (I LOVE MINE I'm so sad it broke LOL I'm buying a new one SOON tho), people with uneven eye makeup and no lipstick, lazy eyes, rainbows, thrifting, oddities, antique malls, sushi, meeting new people, trying new things, urban exploring, ZOMBIES, horror.

THINGS I HATE: People more interested in the optics of discourse and using the Right Terms to be an asshole 2 u than they are actually investing or acting on social justice or basic kindness. Advertisements and being advertised to. Hot people, social media, fandom. Has anyone noticed they don't let ugly people be in movies anymore? Even background characters have faces acceptable for Instagram, like weirdly smoothed out. EVEN the kids and the elderly are like. Macy's ad kids and old people. I HATE that. I don't like anime, sorry. If you try to show me a short form video on YouTube or Tiktok I'll throw up on us both. Oh and if you use algospeak (sewerslide, unalived, are you restarted, r/a/p/e, etc.) to my face I will peel yours off.
