I realized upon watching part of twitter clip that it was about Rory Gilmore’s Love triangle. (Coincidentally played by the guy who ends up as the brother of Dean Winchester on Supernatural after GG). Also some mention that the mom looks like an older, brunette TS.

bestie. in our many delightful pop culture conversations, i need you to know that, through no fault of your own, this message cut me to the quick (lightheartedly. mostly). i thought about it all day. i ran to @arthurwilde about it. i paced in circles. i lamented. i threw myself prostrate on the ground (figuratively).

i stared at that sentence for hours. i am haunted by it. it's so casual. so irreverent.

a bit. i post. dean pics. a bit? oh i am wounded. i have failed in my duties if this can be addressed in such a calm manner. i have wholly lost my way, my identity. my blog has no path. who even am i? i am utterly destroyed if you think that the "jared played a character named dean on gilmore girls (a show i have watched all the way through multiple times) before he was on supernatural (a show i watched, without fail, through every horror and slight, through many dangers, toils, and snares, from premiere on my birthday september 13, 2005 to finale november 19, 2020) with a brother named dean" isn't like the most basic arcane lore in the arsenal. as if the last three episodes and the mass devastation and fallout that occurred isn't why this entire page exists (i started blogging on here right before the penultimate episode). i post...a whisper of dean? a small dash? a sprinkling? a smidgen of dean? my heart is torn asunder. i'm lost wandering the moors. dean. my dean? core of my blog? light in the dark, raft in the ocean, fire of my soul? dean, whom i love so tremendously, with such an abject and ardent love, that i have been publicly renounced and executed for it in the past. sent anon hate off and on for months. fought bloody battles. i post him. a bit??? dean who is my best friend love of my life visits my dreams real person to me (normal and sane response). lord have mercy. as if the way i loved you, in and of itself, is not me with dean versus me with any other fictional character i love. as if, in fact, a significant portion of her discography isn't simply dean coded to me. yeah. i've been FAR TOO RESTRAINED LATELY, IT WOULD SEEM. SEND HELP.

What can I say. Very little thought was put into his character but if you treat him as having an emotional throughline the result is 1) unequivocally devastating and 2) very compelling to me.

Now Dean:

A friend once described me as “the opposite of a deangirl. Deangirlism is unfathomable to you[…] You’re not deancrit because deancrit is ALSO about being obsessed with Dean. You are simply the opposite of a deangirl” and this description still tickles me greatly. I am compelled by early seasons Dean and do find him interesting to think/read about later on too, but for some reason as the show becomes more deancentric I become less and less capable of consuming it deancentrically.

explains in part why dean was a beacon in purgatory. he already has That effect in normal circumstances. and then all of purgatory's monsters get exposed to castiel's psyche, which is even more Like That than most, and become fucking terminal.

That might actually work! I was worried about ride being too deancentric mainly bc a lot of the song and specifically the monologue goes into the narrator's inner turmoil (so deans inner turmoil in this case) but video games is centered around the relationship so I might give that a shot 💅 ty for the idea!

he’s empty. they’re free and he’s empty. he doesn’t want to tell sam, sam with his smile and his hope and his finger pointing directions to eileen’s apartment. but he is, numb and lost and empty and he doesn’t know what to do. 

and sure they’re free, and they’ve got a helluva god looking after them, but he still doesn’t feel like this is it. their big win. their big, beat god, settle the score, save the world win. and so, when they park in front of eileen’s, and sam reaches for the handle, dean stills him with a hand on his arm. and sam looks back, goofy smile fading at the emotion dean’s sure is written across his face.

dean clears his throat. he doesn’t know what to say.

sam’s voice breaks the silence.

“dean?”

dean drops his hand, then raises it to touch his left shoulder in an unconcious movement.

“just....just give me a second.”

and sam, being sam, sits. dean can feel the impatience buzzing off of him, but he knows sam will wait.

“it’s...it’s...” he can’t choke out the words

sam fills in the blank.

“cas?”

dean purses his lips, nods, glances to his brother’s too understanding eyes.

“we’ll get him back.”

dean nods again.

“that’s the problem, sammy. i...i’m not sure we will.”

and he feels hot tears on his cheeks and he wants to will them away, push them down, but god dammit, they are free and so dean’s going to allow himself to cry. god knows he deserves it.

under his breath, “fuck.”

sam’s hand smoothes over his back.

“i love ‘im, sammy.”

“i know.”

“we gotta get ‘im back.”

“we will.”

dean steels himself then, gets out of the driver’s seat and moves to the back, let’s sam run inside to reunite with his love. dean curls up, cries into the leather like he did the time they went to the fair and he dropped his ice cream and mom drove him home because he wouldn’t calm down. and he sobs, deep heaving sobs, and now he doesn’t feel so empty, just lost, and he feels sad, and he feels sorrow in his bones and the emotion shivers through him like a thunderstorm and then, it calms, it calms because his eyes are puffy and he can hear the sound of eileen’s front door, and the unintelligible words spoken by his brother to her. and like a prayer, puts his hands under his ear against the seat and he curls his knees into his chest even further and he lets his eyes droop close.

he’s exhausted. war worn. just plain fucking tired. 

so he lets his eyes close and he lets his breathing calm and he lets his hands stop shaking and he lets the tendrils of hope uncurl cautiously in his chest. and then he thinks, before sleep takes him,

we’re gonna get cas back.

okay, spec time: in the shaving things promo I thought it only had scenes from eps 1-6 so the shot of Dean taken by a Djinn (which we’ve not seen yet) would be ep6, which puts him through the wringer and then he lets his hair down in ep7 with Christian Kane (as per the spoilers) BUT it looks like next week is all about witches meaning it must be ep7 where Dean is taken by a Djinn, and what do Djinn do? They keep their prisoners captive by making them think that they're in this ideal world....which means Christian's character Leo is either completely made up, or Dean is in a world where they're reunited like Dean and Mary were reunited in WIAWSNB but either way, it's not actually real and if I'm right then I would like to send an almighty fuck you at the writers for this!!

it would also explain why Dean can sing well, which got all a bunch of certain fans in a tizz.

season 6 is good season 6 is bad season 6 is very complex and meaningful season 6 is very shallow and just says Themes at you season 6 is very cohesive and follows through on every plotline it laid out season 6 juggles too many storylines and doesn't explore any of them thoroughly season 6 is too miserable and depressing season 6 (+7.01)'s tragedies are very satisfying and even cathartic season 6 as a slow burn mystery inherently works better on rewatch but is not engaging enough to keep you invested in its mess season 6 is what happens when you have a season led by two of the show’s best writers but almost the entirety of the rest of the writing rooms is newbies season 6 is what happens when sera gamble knows exactly how she wants to conclude dean & cas’ stories and tie up what she’s been building for 5 years but no one knows what to do with sam who’s currently living past the end of his myth
