Dear my future lover,

I am currently playing love songs and suddenly thought of writing to you for the first time. Do you know what? I have always believed in love. I want the kind of love my parents have. I like the type of love that is real. It may not be perfect, but it is the kind of love that embraces despite the cold and shines regardless of the rain. The love that stays and heals. The love that is simple but feels whole.

I don't know you, and we haven't met yet, but I hope life treats you well. I hope you are somewhere great, enjoying life. If it doesn't, I hope you get through it. I hope you overcome every hardship. Do you find joy in gazing at the sky and stars at night? Are you into taking photography, exploring new things, or visiting museums? Do you prefer going outdoors or staying indoors? I want to know your favorite color or if you like pineapples on pizza as I do. I want to know your favorite coffee drink, but it's fine if you prefer water or milk. 

Everybody around me and my age is falling in love, and here I am, one of the peculiar people who don't want to rush into love. I know you are out there waiting, too, and I hope the waiting never wearies you out. I look forward to sharing my favorite songs with you and making poetry inspired by you. Let's meet halfway soon.

I want us both to eat well and before we meet, let me strive to become the best version of myself first.

Querido futuro amor...

Meu querido, futuro amor...

Por diversas vezes na minha vida desejei alguém que fosse gentil, carismático, amoroso e cuidadoso. Desejei alguém que me fizesse ter aquela sensação de paz, alguém que me trouxesse um bem estar comigo mesma e além de tudo isso alguém que fizesse com que eu me sentisse protegida, segura.

Procurei por alguém que não tivesse medo dos meus afetos, alguém que não se importasse com minhas marcas e cicatrizes externas e principalmente as internas. Alguém que me fizesse esquecer de todas as noites em que dormi chorando, alguém que me quisesse, que me desejasse tanto quanto eu.

Alguém que despertasse meu lado mulher mas que amasse meu lado de menina, alguém que me olhasse por dentro, alguém que me deixasse completamente rendida e sem medo de estar rendida e vulnerável a outra pessoa, alguém que me mostrasse o lado bom de amar.

Querido futuro amor, eu sempre quis alguém que me levasse além, alguém que me mostrasse que atrás de toda dor existe um sentimento bom de paz e amor, que atrás de todo aquele sofrimento em que um dia a vida nos colocou sumisse só de sentir a respiração da pessoa. Querido amor do futuro, eu sempre busquei um amor tão puro quanto o de nossos pais, um amor tão puro quanto o de uma mãe completamente vulnerável na frente de uma equipe médica mas o que mais importa naquele momento é o seu filho.

Eu sempre quis alguém que me olhasse com os olhos da verdade, que amasse minhas qualidades mas amasse mais ainda meus defeitos, alguém que me olhasse com aquele olhar de quem poderia dizer tantas coisas mas não acha palavras pra descrever o que sente ali naquele momento.

Aquele amor de novela, aquele amor dos filmes mais clichês que possam existir, aquele amor que a gente só vê nas telas da televisão ou do cinema, aquele amor que a gente acredita que nunca irá existir.

Um amor que não me prometa nada mas que mesmo sem prometer cumpra tudo o que nós esperamos e que mesmo que haja momentos difíceis fique e não vá embora. Um amor que acredite em mim, um amor que acredite em nós.

E quando eu te vejo mesmo que eu não diga as três palavras que todo mundo aguarda loucamente em cada passo de um relacionamento, eu sinto exatamente todas as coisas que eu citei acima e obviamente seriam todas as coisas que eu te diria se pudesse, se encontrasse palavras quando estou na sua frente. Querido futuro amor, você é a pessoa que eu sempre idealizei pra mim e eu te agradeço por ser você essa pessoa.

I've been what—4/5 years single? Such a long time and then this one came into my life earlier this year and turned everything upside down – in a good way, in a better way.

We've known each other since high school since we went to the same school. We lost touch after college. Life happened. And then, we just reconnected all of the sudden last February. I'd like to think Jesus sent you to me when I badly needed someone. And now, here we are. Love bloomed and I still can't believe I now have someone who is fond if me and loves me and gives me the attention that I crave.

I hoped that all this fighting would stop. It scares me to death. I know I'm not the easy option here. If I could make my heart feel less I would, I know I haven't known you for a year... but you are my best friend. I don't think a certain amount of time is required for my feelings to be validated. I know this is scary, but just be willing to work things out if you feel the same way as I do. Because I know you love me too, I know you are figuring life out, but I want to be your partner in every moment. I want to be there in all of those moments, no matter your mood. My heart sees your beauty, even when there's complete silence. I love that silence more than you can ever know. I love you more than I can even know. And it's scary but my heart just recognizes you like that, like I've known you in another lifetime. In some way I can't explain but I just feel it. I see your resilience, your strength, the way you take care of the people you love. I admire you. You bring love to your home and I know it isn't always recognized. I know life is anything but easy. Believe me, this year has been a battle for me too. Just don't be scared to work this out with me. I promise I will love you to the end.

Dear Lover,

Sometimes, or maybe most of the times, I can be a bit difficult with my mood changes and feelings of disassociation and indifference. I'm sorry if sometimes I speak words I don't mean that hurt you. I guess my past traumas made me build up my walls too high and left me a tad cautious more than I'm supposed to be. I just hope you know that despite my negative side, you'll see my sincerity, love, and devotion. I love you like I never loved anyone else. 💕
