This may sound like a call to join some mad cult where the end looks like a repeat performance of the Jamestown tragedy orchestrated by the Rev. Jim Jones. Well fear not all this is no such thing. Joining the death positive movement requires no fundamentalist religious belief or the consumption of Coolaid. Instead all it asks of you is an open mind and an honest approach to talking about death, dying, grief and funerals. It’s a conversation we all all have to have eventually. But usually when that time comes there are a lot of tears and tensions tend to run high. So why not start the conversation early? Why not attend your nearest death cafe? Make a will? Take out a pre paid funeral plan or at least get your funeral wishes down on paper. Discuss with your family what they should do should the worst happen and you are not in a position to make any of those decisions yourself due to illness. These are all things we can start to do to make the end of life process that little bit easier. #talkdeath #confessionsofanundertaker #death #deathcare #deathpositive #deathpositivity #deathpositivemovement #funeral #funeralservice #funeraldirector #funeraldirectorproblems #mortician #morticianlife #grief #bereavement #bereavementsupport #blog #blogger #influencer #deathcafe https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs6bo-wnDor/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=66mkf831flxk

Question time! Inspired by tonight's Death Café: where would you like to be when you die? I always said I'd like to be at home -- but I'm starting to think/hope that I can be surrounded by my loved ones, pets, and music - and die OUTSIDE. Where outdoors doesn't bother me so much, I just love the idea of dying devoid of four walls and a ceiling. ••••• #lastwishes #question #questions #prompt #inspiration #motivation #endoflife #qualityoflife #death #dying #deathliteracy #deatheducation #deathpositive #deathdoula #gooddeath #gooddeathdoula #thanatology #foodforthought #conversation #deathcafe #life #living #die #where #location #nature #outdoors #toronto #outside #getoutside #deathcafe (at Planet Earth) https://www.instagram.com/p/Boco0unH4u8/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=vr6ty8pr5dst

last commissioned drawing i made. version 2 is to be used as a logo for the "everybody dies" private philosophical and psychological group by @lizazaslavskaya. her group branched off the series of #deathcafe events, 37 of which she hosted before endeavouring separate group to establish trust and dive deeper. i do love this kind of work because it helps me to set boundaries of what i have to do and still, finished image looks pretty much like something i'd draw for myself. Buried - Part III, 💀Part III of my short story “Buried” is available to read on my website www.mouseakins.com/blog 💀 I remember reading this section of Part III to my creative writing class in college and freaking quite a few folks out (understandably so). ✍️ I wrote this story as a way to work through some deep traumas in my life; I admit that taking this tale out of the closet and putting it out into the world has been a feat all its own, let alone editing and rewriting parts to expand upon the story. 😰 It is a difficult task to face ourselves, our fears, and our traumas of the past - but sometimes the only way out is through it; I want to heal. ——————————————————————————— 🤷‍♀️What in the world is this story about anyway? Well, “Buried” explores the ideas of body consciousness after the “soul” or “ego” consciousness has left the body. This story also asks us to consider how we treat the corpses of our fellow earthlings after they’ve passed on. 🧟‍♀️ ——————————————————————————— ⚠️TRIGGER WARNINGS⚠️This story includes the following subjects: body decomposition and the funeral preperation of a corpse. I suggest those who read each chapter to think before venturing in; It's not for everyone. ——————————————————————————— 🎃 Happy October, everyone! 🌻 #halloween #spookystories #scarystories #shortstory #novicewriter #macabre #macabreart #macabrestories #consciousness #exploringconsciousness #corpses #death #october #pnwartist #exploringdeathandbeyond #deathpositivemovement #deathpositivity #deathcafe #arttherapy #epilepsyart #existentialcrisis #arttherapy #epilepsyart #epilepsyartist #artforepilepsy #autopsy (at Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3zpxQ6po1U/?igshid=1ihwrg7rwu03o

Hosting the death café is an honor and I consider it a gift from the universe to be able to serve the community in this way. Last night we were joined by The Mortitian’s Daughter. What an interesting bunch! I am grateful for the level of participation. This event is free to attend. If you’re curious, like Melting Heart Boutique and be on the look out for the announcement for next month’s meeting #themortitiansdaughter #ayabyumpodcast #giftoftheday #deathcafe #meltingheartboutique #imokwithdeathanddecay #gratitude #evolveintolove #makingnewfriends https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx3J6e2ll8E/?igshid=1ugx2vwkm5mxn

Money is the one thing in life we all need. Like it or not it does make the world go round. But there’s a saying and it goes like this. “There’s no point in being the richest person in the cemetery!” What it means is basically go and enjoy yourself. The money you have you can’t take it with you so enjoy it. Now I know that there are some out there where this is not an option. But that doesn’t mean to say you can’t enjoy what you have while you are still here to do so. For ages I used to bank every penny I had and was scared to touch it. Lord only knows why because looking back their was no logical reason for me doing it. But as I started to get older and I started to appreciate the finer things in life as well as the shortness of life, I decided to throw caution to the wind and spend what I had on what I wanted. Money is there to earned and it is there to be spent and enjoyed. If you have it then enjoy it. But be responsible. Make sure the essentials are taken care of first. And whatever is left go and enjoy yourself with it. Your only here once and life is not a dress rehearsal. #confessionsofanundertaker #blog #blogger #death #deathcare #funeral #funeralservice #funeraldirector #mortician #morticianlife #deathpositive #deathpositivity #deathpositivemovement #deathcafe #money #life #cemetery (at Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire) https://www.instagram.com/p/BuSBOfnAIp2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=kka5hj8z47h7

Our world is changing and that is inevitable.
As we raise our awareness about the way in which we are living we are also raising our awareness about the way in which we are dying.
Western medicine is fantastic and I applaud great doctors that dedicate themselves to their path, Doctors with out Borders or the doctors that work on Mercy ships etc.
But it is basically structured around making pain more tolerable or numbing your ability to feel the pain.
It is structured around keeping that physical body alive longer.
Those are the two main pillars of it.
If there is breast cancer or testicular cancer then something is removed. You stay alive and so GO! Keep working and living ..be grateful you are alive and have a nice day.
That is not healing.
That is no more TRUE healing than a man sprinkling water on another and saying "you are healed!"
Not really.
The physical yes.
But the rest....
Even in the physical other parts may have been affected, was the wellbeing health of the legs, stomach, groin or surrounding organs tended to?
During End of Life and Terminal Illness there is so much the Western Medicine world ignores.
The Dignity and
The soul
No matter what religion
Being able to die and spend your last days actually LIVING (in safe healthy surroundings and medical necessities of course)
Can change that #journey.
Having the support and acceptance, having the human comfort and the companionship is not something a sterile hospital room provides.
The family needs care.
The support system needs to strengthen and fuel up in order to be able to be the #support system.
The individual can spend their last days or months preparing for death.
Yes.
Or they can #Live their last days.
Or they can have the #dignity they deserve and be supported not as they prepare to die but as they LIVE their last days.
For information please see booking online free phone consultation
To just set up a group or immediate family evening of discussing how to help make the transition better please contact through website to set up a Deathcafe gathering.

Practice for my Deathbed:
public performance, art ritual and meditation
Practice for my Deathbed is an internationally touring art ritual, living monument, immersive performance and mind altering experience. The artist MWR channels the ‘White Raven’ poised on a beautiful bed, surrounded by the collaborating artists, participants and witnesses, Together they evoke a powerful paradox of sacred space and public statement through the intimate practice of death in a prominent outdoor location. Around the central focal point of the deathbed, multi-dimensional layers of sensual, emotional, intellectual and physical experience can be made available and outlined by the creative skill of the collaborating artists.
15 Deathbeds have been created since the premiere at Whitstable Biennale, UK in 2012. Deathbeds have been installed and experienced all over the world including Esalen Institute in California, Yellowfish festival of durational performance in Seattle, Beloved Festival in Oregon, Pranafest in New Zealand, Tashiro Kaplan Artists’ Lofts in Seattle, Colourfest in Dorset UK, Sudersand in Stockholm Sweden and Feast Arts Center, Tacoma USA.
