Unexpectedly, there's some similarities in Majima/Kiryu and Mine/Daigo.

Kiryu and Daigo are both benevolent leaders who managed to unintentionally attract two men who are captivated by their kind, soft behavior. (Mine has the Kirin thing going on and the obvious while Majima's K1 summary says that he was pulled in by his and Kiryu's different ideals).

Majima and Mine are both wildly protective of their respective men, threatening others who are/could prove to be no good for them.

Mine declares himself to be Daigo's heir; Majima declares that Kiryu belongs to him in the first game.

In 3, both bonds deal with the possibility of betrayal. (Kiryu firmly plants his foot down against it in a moment that got quickly dramatic for poor old Date, believing Majima would never hurt him like that. Kiryu even tells Daigo at the end that Mine would never betray him despite the previous events that just unfolded).

Majima almost comes across as overly helpful, doing everything he can in the game to lend Kiryu a hand or two... or three. (He seemed a bit desperate before the big fight as he tried getting Kiryu to let him take him to the hospital. He'll, he even says that he'll leave the lights on at the Tojo HQ for him. Almost forgot when he hesitantly accepted Kiryu's request to take in the men who were under Kashiwagi). Mine had gained the title of Daigo's lapdog, but unlike Majima, he didn't have anything to do that could help Daigo immediately after he was shot.

Hamazaki suspiciously targeting both of them in his anti Kiryu plans. Targeting Mine's loyalty to Daigo while knowing Majima would be bothered by talking about the mere idea of killing Kiryu. Hamazaki why is your gaydar so correct and powerful.

I feel like I'm forgetting more, but this is long enough so I'll just stop it here.

oh yeah, i’ve definitely noticed every now and then that mine and majima share a bunch of notes together. it’s ironic really: incidentally they’ve both become ‘guard dogs’ for daigo for one reason or another, and on top of that not only is mine’s most relatable ‘ally’ wholly dedicated to one of the men he despises the most, but majima’s only watching after daigo specifically because of that man

it’s a shame they never get a proper interaction, i’d love to stick em in a room together and just watch what happens

Anyways if you HAVEN'T seen the new Puss in Boots: the Last Wish movie, you absolutely MUST soon, or eventually. It's a beautiful, tragic, romantic, comedic, dramatic, painful and emotional, perfect movie about life and death and also machismo and the stubbornness of not wanting to be hurt again by trusting those who've burned you before, and it's just 👌🏽 Also, the side plot is wonderful and made me tear up fr. And it has Harvey Guillén in it as the most loveable sweet chihuahua character, and I just 😭 I will be watching it again and again and again because I loved it so much. 100/10. Highly recommend, and great animation style.
