a bit late to this bc rotsiversary is essentially over but having both gone to star wars celebration and generally having been plugged into what’s going on with the revenge of the sith re-release (bc it’s my favowite star war) i have seen a lot of promotional material and official artwork for this movie and a lot of discussion about that artwork and promo material and i keep coming back to how insane it is that padmé isn’t present in like most of it and how so many people dismiss her absence by being like “oh but she’s sidelined in the movie so it’s the movie’s fault.” bc like, the thing about that is i fully don’t care! her active role in the plot being reduced fully does not matter to me in terms of how it translates to artwork or promo bc she is the linchpin of the whole plot of the movie! she is at the very center of the story! regardless of how much we see of what she’s actually doing the threat of her death is literally thee main thing driving the main character’s journey and therefore the entire plot and not having her in any posters or artwork is just a bad representation of what this movie is about! she is fundamental to it even when she’s off-screen! so like regardless of how lacking you think her presence in the film is it’s still fundamental and blaming her being excluded from artwork on the film itself and not the people putting out the artwork is stupid as hell. “but she spends the whole movie just being sad in her apartment” well that is still an important part of the movie. put her beautiful weepy face on that fucking poster

im fully expecting the show to go the way of the movies. it doesnt help Sea of Monsters is almost unanimously the least favorite book of the first series. People frequently forget it even exists or what happens in it, especially more casual fans.

Heck, just look at how little fanfare the second season has gotten so far as compared to the build up to s1. I wouldn't be surprised if s2 totally flops. It would be a little funny.

returning to jitd about nine episodes in after taking a break to go read most of mo du means I'm approaching it with a really different perspective now compared to when I first started watching without any book knowledge.

specifically, I'm recognising that they've given the overarching plot aspects the subtlety of a hammer compared to the novel (somewhat understandable given the sheer amount of exposition necessary to pull off this in visual form would be ridiculous *and* there's a 30 episode cap to work within), but the character aspects are all pretty much identical. And when they're not identical, they still align incredibly well with the book characterisation.

They’re both extravagant and want excitement in their games, but Roby would probably find him old and weird (and probably have an issue with his lack of ethics) while Chen’s a narcissist who wouldn’t want anyone upstaging him and would hate this kid. Especially when Roby says that his Tournament is basically the “real one” and Chen’s is a cheap copy, which is kind of impossible to deny

My Deltarune experience is so fun (and apparently novel) because I don't look at popular theories nor do I pay attention to any lore provided in outside content (the newsletters, sweepstakes, etc). Both of these things are intentional and I'm doing it on purpose and it's great because everything is a surprise and I don't have any prior expectations about what should or shouldn't happen.

But it also puts me in a situation where I don't think I can speculate/analyze much with other people because That is Not How Other People Are Doing It. And that's totally fair. You're looking at extra puzzle pieces and I'm not. It's just like . Something I sit with hksljdhgjh

*as you rub your head in a poor attempt at fighting off the inevitable migraine that will come from the impact on your already sore nerves you hear the graves siblings coming to find the source of this commotion* “the hell happened in here!?” *ashley picks up the small white box as Andrew assists you back up on your feet, Ashley then opens the box after noticing whatever seal that was on it before had torn, when the box opens a booming voice comes from inside getting yours and Andrew’s attention as well”
